People search for Brevo alternatives about 240 times a month in the United States, and for Sendinblue
alternatives another 110. On the evidence of the reviews, many are leaving rather than shopping, and
for specific reasons. This guide starts from those reasons and matches each to an alternative we have
measured with the same method.

Our scores on the email rubric: Klaviyo 3.88, MailerLite 3.71, Constant Contact 3.63, Brevo 3.58,
Mailchimp 3.46, ActiveCampaign 3.44.

## Why people leave Brevo

Four reasons stand out.

**Suspension.** Twenty of 100 recent Trustpilot reviews describe a suspended account, all at one or
two stars [15]. The published triggers are tight, a hard bounce rate above 2% among them, and "If
your account is suspended again, we won’t be able to reactivate it." [13]

**Support.** Support appears in 47 of the 100 reviews, 27 of them negative [15]. Phone support
starts at Professional.

**The contact cap.** Paid tiers store 500, 1,500 or 2,500 contacts below 20,000 emails [5],
against 100,000 on the free plan. Small accounts moving off Free are pushed to higher tiers.

**Shopify.** Brevo's App Store listing reads "This app is not currently available on the Shopify App
Store." [17]

Price itself is a complaint in only two of the 100 reviews.

> 💡 **undefined:** Export before cancelling; close the account only after the move.

## What you give up by leaving

Brevo does several things no alternative matches at its price.

It covers the most channels: email, SMS, WhatsApp, push, live chat, a sales CRM, a customer data
platform and loyalty, on one account [20]. Replacing that usually means two or three products.

It publishes every price in a public pricing API [3].

It is the cheapest option we have measured for a large list mailed rarely: Standard at 50,000 emails
is $97, and stores up to 500,000 contacts.

Its free plan stores 100,000 contacts.

If any of these is why you chose Brevo, weigh it before switching.

## MailerLite, if support and simplicity matter most

Our score: 3.71.

MailerLite has the best support reviews we have measured and a simple model: Comfort from $12 for 500
subscribers, every feature on every paid plan, and the full price list published [26]. It adds
websites, digital products and paid newsletters with no platform commission.

What you give up: channels and large-list economics. MailerLite is email only, and at 50,000
subscribers Comfort costs $319, against $97 for Brevo Standard at 50,000 emails. It also reviews new
accounts, and 11 of 100 of its recent reviews describe a suspension.

Best for: newsletters, creators and small businesses with lists mailed weekly or more.

> ⚠ **undefined:** Closing a Brevo account deletes all data permanently.

## Constant Contact, if you want a person on the phone

Our score: 3.63.

Constant Contact offers phone and chat support on every tier and a 30-day money-back guarantee, and
its Trustpilot score is 4.0. It also includes events with payments on every tier, and SMS in the US
and Australia.

What you give up: the price list and the free plan. Constant Contact publishes only its first band
and has no free plan. Its pricing follows the highest contact band you have reached.

Best for: local businesses, nonprofits and event organisers who value human support over price.

## Klaviyo, if you sell on Shopify

Our score: 3.88, the highest in our email set.

Klaviyo's Shopify app scores 4.7 from more than 3,000 reviews in our Klaviyo measurement, and its
whole product is built around store data, with email, SMS and other channels. For a store whose
Brevo integration is uncertain, Klaviyo is the standard.

What you give up: readable pricing and low cost. Klaviyo's pricing page is a calculator that publishes
nothing until you enter a number.

Best for: Shopify stores with meaningful order volume.

## Mailchimp, if you want the familiar ecosystem

Our score: 3.46.

Mailchimp has the largest integration ecosystem and a long agency track record. Its tier does not move
by itself; it adds contact blocks until you change it.

What you give up: price transparency and price for large lists. At 100,000 contacts its published
Standard ceiling is $800, against $139 for Brevo Standard at 100,000 emails.

Best for: teams already built around Mailchimp's integrations.

## ActiveCampaign, if you need automation and a pipeline

Our score: 3.44.

ActiveCampaign is built around automation and CRM-style contact management, and it publishes its whole
billing catalogue, though every price in it is annual.

What you give up: the free plan and Brevo's channel breadth.

Best for: B2B businesses with longer sales cycles.

## Matching the alternative to the reason

**Suspended or afraid of it:** you need reachable support. Constant Contact publishes phone support on
every tier; MailerLite has the best support reviews. Fix list quality first either way.

**Pushed up by the contact cap:** if your list is small and mailed often, MailerLite's subscriber
pricing is usually cheaper. If it is large and mailed rarely, stay on Brevo.

**Shopify:** Klaviyo.

**Need fewer tools, not more:** MailerLite or Constant Contact.

## Staying on Brevo, cheaper

Before leaving, check whether the problem has a cheaper fix inside Brevo.

If the contact cap is the problem, delete contacts you no longer email; unsubscribed and inactive
contacts still count toward the cap [7].

If you send seasonally, pause a monthly plan for up to three months [11].

If you need fewer emails, remove credits from your plan; the change applies at the next billing date
[7].

If suspension is the fear, verify your list and keep bounces and complaints well under the published
lines [13].

## How to leave without losing data

Cancelling moves you to Free at the end of the billing period and keeps your data [10]. Closing the
account is different: "This action is irreversible, and all data will be permanently lost." [12]

So export first: contacts, campaign history, automations and any CRM deals. Then cancel. Close the
account only when the new platform is running, and remember that a free account left idle can be
deleted after a period without login.

## The measured products side by side

| Product | Our score | Entry paid price | Free plan | Full price list published |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Klaviyo | 3.88 | calculator only | not measured here | no |
| MailerLite | 3.71 | $12 (500 subscribers) | 250 subscribers | yes |
| Constant Contact | 3.63 | $12 (first band) | none | first band only |
| Brevo | 3.58 | $9 (5,000 emails) | 100,000 contacts | yes, via public API |
| Mailchimp | 3.46 | $13 promotional | 250 contacts | entry and ceilings only |
| ActiveCampaign | 3.44 | annual prices only | not measured here | yes, annual |

Brevo has the cheapest entry price, the largest free plan and, with MailerLite, the most complete
published price list. It ranks fourth because of support and account access, not because of price or
capability.

## A worked example: leaving after a suspension

A small agency's Brevo account is suspended after a client's first campaign to an imported trade-show
list produces a 4% hard bounce rate, double the published threshold [13].

The agency's options are narrower than they look. The first suspension can be reactivated after
following the Deliverability center's steps; a second cannot. Moving to MailerLite or Constant Contact
with the same list would meet similar checks there.

So the agency verifies the list first, removes invalid and unengaged addresses, reactivates Brevo,
and sends to the most recent contacts. Only if support or the account remains a problem does it move,
and then with a clean list. Switching vendors does not fix a list; it moves the problem.

## Questions to ask any alternative

Ask these before switching, and compare the answers with Brevo's published ones.

**How is the bill counted?** Brevo: emails, with a contact cap per tier [5].

**What happens at the limit?** Brevo: an automatic tier upgrade on contacts below 20,000 emails
[8].

**How do I pay less?** Brevo: cancel and choose a new plan; prepaid credits are lost [9].

**What triggers a suspension, and is a second one final?** Brevo publishes thresholds and a final
second suspension [13].

**What happens to an inactive free account?** Brevo: deletion after a period without login [10].

A vendor that answers these clearly is easier to live with than one that does not, whatever its price.

## What switching costs, by reason

A move is cheapest when it matches the reason. Approximate monthly prices from each vendor's published
figures, for a business with 3,000 contacts sending twice a month:

**To MailerLite.** 3,000 subscribers sit in the 5,000 band: Comfort at $49 [26]. On Brevo the same
account needs the 20,000-email tier, $32 on Starter or $69 on Standard [3]. Moving from Brevo
Standard saves about $20; moving from Brevo Starter costs about $17 more, but includes automation and
logo removal.

**To Constant Contact.** Its first band's month-to-month price is $12 on Lite; above the first band it
publishes no prices, so the cost for 3,000 contacts must be obtained from sales.

**To Klaviyo.** Its calculator publishes nothing until you enter a number; budget time for a quote.

**To Mailchimp.** The price of the 3,000-contact band is not served to American readers; its cards
show first-year promotions.

So for this business, the only alternative whose price you can compare without a quote is MailerLite.

## A clean move in four weeks

**Week 1.** Export contacts, unsubscribes, campaign history, automations and any CRM deals from Brevo.
Verify the contact list and remove invalid and long-inactive addresses.

**Week 2.** Set up the new platform, rebuild templates and the welcome automation, connect forms and
integrations, and import only subscribed contacts.

**Week 3.** Send to the most recent and engaged segment first, then widen over several days, watching
bounces and complaints.

**Week 4.** Cancel the Brevo subscription before its renewal date [10]. Keep the account as a free
account until you are sure nothing is missing, logging in at least every few months, and close it
only when you no longer need its data [12].

## Staying with a cleaner list

Many people who leave Brevo after a suspension would have kept their account with a cleaner list. The
published lines, a hard bounce rate above 2%, unsubscribes above 1%, complaints above 0.2% [13],
are about the same as the inbox providers' own tolerances, so every serious email platform enforces
something close to them, published or not.

Before deciding that the vendor is the problem, run three checks on the list: how many addresses are
older than a year with no opens, how many were collected without a marketing opt-in, and how many
fail a verification service. If those three account for more than a few percent of the list, removing
them is the cheaper fix, and it travels with you to whichever platform you choose.

## FAQ

**What is the best alternative to Brevo?**

MailerLite for small lists and creators, Klaviyo for Shopify stores, Constant Contact for phone support, Mailchimp for its ecosystem.

**Is there a cheaper alternative to Brevo?**

Not for large lists mailed rarely among the products we have measured. For small lists mailed often, MailerLite can be cheaper.

## The verdict

For a large list mailed rarely, there is no cheaper alternative to Brevo among the products we have
measured. For a small list mailed often, MailerLite is usually cheaper and better supported. For
Shopify, Klaviyo. For phone support, Constant Contact. And for anyone leaving after a suspension, the
next platform will check the same list, so clean it first.
