# Bubble Alternatives 2026: Code Generators, No-Code and Mobile

> Why buyers leave Bubble (WU bills, no code export, a learning curve) and what Lovable, Bolt.new, Replit, Softr, FlutterFlow, Adalo and Webflow change.

---

Bubble (bubble.io) loses buyers for four reasons: workload-unit bills that climb with traffic, an app that cannot leave as source code, a learning curve Bubble itself admits, and billing friction with no refunds. If you want code you own, Lovable, Bolt.new and Replit generate it and let you take it through GitHub or a download. For simple internal tools, Softr, Base44 and Glide stay closer to no-code. FlutterFlow is the nearest swap for a mobile-first build with code download, and Webflow fits sites rather than apps. Stay put if one project must carry a web app plus native iOS and Android apps on a shared database. For scale, Bubble's Starter plan (Web) is $32 per month billed annually or $39 per month billed monthly, per app [1].

**$0.30** — Bubble's default overage per 1K WU past the allowance on Starter, Growth and Team, on by default and invoiced monthly

- **No code export** — Bubble exports app data (CSV, JSON, NDJSON), not source code
- **$32 / $39** — Bubble's Starter plan (Web), per app per month, billed annually / billed monthly
- **Offline** — What happens to a paid Bubble app at its WU limit if overages are switched off, until they are re-enabled, a tier is bought or the next period starts

## Why builders start shopping around

Bubble meters a running app in workload units (WU), a sum of server work such as searches, database writes, API calls and scheduled workflows. Each app gets a monthly allowance (Free 50K, Starter 175K, Growth 250K, Team 500K), and the Development version counts against it too. Past that line, Starter, Growth and Team apps pay overages at $0.30 per 1K WU, switched on by default and invoiced monthly in arrears. Switch overages off and the app goes offline at the limit until you re-enable them, buy a tier or the next billing period starts [2]. **Neither outcome is comfortable.**

Code ownership is the second push. Bubble's manual says apps run only on Bubble and cannot be exported as code, so moving off means rebuilding the logic [3]; our [Bubble review](/articles/bubble-review) weighs that lock-in. Data leaves as CSV, JSON or NDJSON, and a raw JSON file of the app logic exists to help a migration. Through the Bubble MCP (beta), an outside AI agent can read the design and logic and recreate the app in code, without guaranteed fidelity; hosting, auth, storage and backups then become your job. That is a rebuild. It is not an export.

The third reason is effort. Bubble concedes that visual development has a learning curve and that a code generator may be faster for a quick proof of concept. Pricing also follows the project, not the person: every web, mobile or combined project needs its own plan, and app editors are capped per plan (1 on Starter, 2 on Growth, 5 on Team) rather than sold as seats.

**What users rate it, by platform**

On Trustpilot, reviewers most often complain about billing and charges, support, canceling and trials, while G2 and Capterra reviewers sound noticeably warmer. Treat the Trustpilot pile as a map of friction, not a trend. The themes match the written terms: subscriptions are non-refundable, annual plans renew for a year unless canceled at least 30 days before the anniversary, early cancellation does not end that year, and the 14-day Starter trial for new apps converts to paid unless you stop it.

> ⚠ **Annual plans bind you:** Bubble's annual plans renew for a year unless canceled at least 30 days before the anniversary, and subscription payments are non-refundable.

## Code generators that hand you the source

### Lovable

Lovable writes React and TypeScript with a built-in backend, Lovable Cloud, which runs on Supabase. It bills per workspace rather than per seat. Lovable's Pro plan with 100 credits costs $25 per month billed monthly or $21 per month billed annually, and one credit balance pays for building, hosting and AI inside deployed apps. Its Free plan can publish to lovable.app, and Git sync works on every Lovable plan. The catch: it builds web apps, not native ones, and at zero credits apps on its built-in backend pause. Since September 2026, Free and Pro data may train Lovable's models unless the user opts out. Our [Bubble vs Lovable comparison](/articles/bubble-vs-lovable) goes deeper.

### Bolt.new

Bolt.new meters work in tokens, priced per individual account on Free and Pro and per member on Teams. Bolt's Pro plan costs $25 per month billed monthly or $18 per month billed yearly for 10M tokens a month. Its Free tier gives 1M tokens a month with a 300K daily limit. Code downloads or syncs two-way with GitHub. Native mobile runs through Expo, published outside Bolt with the EAS CLI and your own Apple and Google accounts. Bubble submits from its editor on a paid Mobile or Web & Mobile plan, yet also needs your own Apple Developer account ($99 a year) and Google Play Console account ($25 one time). Bolt subscriptions are non-refundable except where the law requires; Bubble's plans, converted trials and AI credit packs are non-refundable too.

### Replit

Replit charges per account. Replit Core costs $20 per month billed monthly or $18 per month billed annually and includes $20 of monthly credits. Those credits are dollar amounts, so they line up with nothing in Bubble's meter. Code leaves as a zip or through GitHub sync. Mobile is where Replit falls short for some Bubble refugees: it reaches the iOS App Store via Expo, yet offers no Google Play publishing. If Android drew you to Bubble, notice that.

| | Bubble | Lovable | Bolt.new | Replit |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Billing unit | Per app / project | Per workspace | Per account; Teams per member | Per account |
| Usage meter | WU plus AI credits, kept separate | One credit balance | Tokens | Credits in dollars |
| Source code you can take | No; data only | Yes: Git sync, zip on paid plans | Yes: download or GitHub | Yes: zip or GitHub |
| Native store apps | iOS and Android from the editor (beta), on a paid Mobile or Web & Mobile plan | No: web, PWA or outside wrapper | Expo, published outside Bolt | iOS via Expo; no Google Play |

> 💡 **Price a workload tier first:** Before leaving over WU bills, compare default overage with a workload tier on Bubble's Starter, Growth or Team plan; the tier follows the plan's billing cadence.

## Simpler no-code builders

### Base44

Base44 bills per workspace. Base44's Starter plan costs $16 per month billed annually or $20 per month billed monthly, and its Free plan allows 25 message credits a month, at most 5 a day. Custom domains and badge removal arrive on Starter; GitHub, backend functions and MCP arrive on Builder. For the stores it produces a wrapper that runs the published web app in a web view, on Builder and up, with push notifications there. Face ID sign-in is not supported. Credits do not roll over, and Base44 publishes no way to buy extra credits outside a plan.

### Softr

Softr is not a code generator and, like Bubble, exports no code. Pricing runs per workspace, split between builders and app users. Softr's Basic plan is $25 per month billed monthly or $19 per month billed annually and includes a custom domain, while its Free plan covers 5 app users in total. There are no native store apps; a PWA with push arrives on Business. Softr offers a free trial at sign-up and 50% off for nonprofits and education institutions through its form, a published figure that Bubble's on-request discounts lack. Our [Softr review](/articles/softr-review) covers the user-based tiers.

### Glide

Glide's GlideOS plans bill monthly only: Basic $25, Plus $50 and Pro $125 a month, with Pro starting at 5 team members. The Free plan publishes no apps. Glide converts LLM token use into its own credits. Bubble says Glide is built for internal tools on spreadsheet data and ships PWAs without first-party store publishing; those are Bubble's claims. Glide Classic apps keep working, with no migration tool to GlideOS.

## Mobile-first and site-first routes

### FlutterFlow

The FlutterFlow question comes down to code. FlutterFlow's Basic plan is $39 a month billed monthly or $29 a month billed yearly ($351 a year), and it adds code download, a custom domain and one-click store deployment, none of which its Free plan has [4]. FlutterFlow's Pro plan is $80 a month billed monthly or $60 a month billed yearly. Editors scale by plan, from 1 on Basic to up to 5 on Max, with extra seats priced separately. Bubble says FlutterFlow lacks a built-in database and that production apps usually add a Firebase or Supabase bill. Students and educators at colleges can apply for a free year.

### Adalo

Adalo sells the opposite of metering. Adalo's Builder plan is $65 a month billed monthly or $624 billed yearly, with 2 published apps and 5 app editors. Adalo says its pricing is flat, with no per-action metering and no workload-unit overages. For a team stung by WU invoices, that is the whole pitch.

### Webflow

Webflow suits websites more than logic-heavy apps. It prices per site: a Starter site is free, and Basic costs $15 a month billed yearly. Code export exists on paid Workspace plans, but CMS content stays behind and exported code cannot be reimported. Bubble says Webflow dropped its built-in User Accounts in January 2026, which matters if your product needs logins.

### Cursor and v0

Both show up in Bubble's own roundups. Bubble describes Cursor as a VS Code fork from Anysphere aimed at software engineers, with no backend, hosting or deployment, and v0 as web only. Neither replaces a no-code stack for someone who does not write code.

## Choosing a replacement, or staying

Start from the pain. WU anxiety points to Adalo's flat pricing, though every AI generator above meters something too: Lovable credits, Bolt.new tokens, Replit dollars. **Every meter has a ceiling.** Code ownership points to Lovable, Bolt.new, Replit or FlutterFlow. An internal tool on existing data points to Softr or Glide. A marketing site points to Webflow.

Before leaving over WU bills, price a workload tier: Tier 1 adds 200K WU for $26 per month with annual billing or $29 per month with monthly billing, per app, on Starter, Growth or Team, and it follows the plan's billing cadence. Our [Bubble pricing guide](/articles/bubble-pricing) runs the overage maths. Staying keeps what most rivals here lack: one project holding a web app and native React Native apps for iOS and Android on a shared database, workflows and WU. Bubble labels that mobile builder beta as of November 2026. Publishing to the App Store and Google Play needs Bubble's Starter plan on the Mobile or Web & Mobile tab, at minimum, since the [Free plan](/articles/is-bubble-free) builds and tests but cannot go live.

Read Bubble's comparison posts with care. Bubble publishes head-to-heads against nearly every name here; their scores and rival figures are Bubble's claims, so this guide relies on each rival's own pricing page. Direction matters for migration, too. Bubble's universal import (beta, for a subset of users) can turn a codebase ZIP from Lovable, v0, Base44, Replit or Claude into a visual Bubble app. Going the other way means exporting data and rebuilding.

> 💡 **Get your data out early:** Download your data as CSV, JSON or NDJSON while the plan is still active. The app's logic itself has to be rebuilt on the new platform.

## FAQ

**Can I move a Lovable or Replit app into Bubble?**

Bubble's universal import (beta, for a subset of users) takes a codebase ZIP and lists exports from Lovable, v0, Base44, Replit and Claude as working well. Exports are often incomplete, so API keys, data or outside services may need to be set up again.

**What happens to my live Bubble app when I cancel?**

The plan runs to the end of the billing period and the live app keeps consuming WU until then, with overages accruing unless switched off; an annual plan stays committed for its year. After that the paid features stop, including the custom domain, and the Free plan has no live version. Live mobile versions pause, and after 14 days they need a new build.

**Are Bubble's own comparison posts neutral?**

No. Bubble publishes head-to-head and alternatives posts about Lovable, Bolt.new, Replit, FlutterFlow and others; their scores and rival figures are Bubble's claims, so check each rival's own pricing page.

## The bottom line

Leave Bubble for the right reason. If you need source code you control, Lovable, Bolt.new, Replit and FlutterFlow give it to you, each with its own meter. If WU invoices are the issue, compare a workload tier and Adalo's flat plans before rebuilding anything. If the app is a lightweight internal tool, Softr or Glide will feel lighter. But for one backend serving a web app and native iOS and Android apps, published from one editor, Bubble remains a strong fit, as long as you accept that the app lives only on Bubble.
