# Bubble for Agencies: Agency Seats, Client Handover and Leads

> Bubble's Agency account costs $78 per month per seat billed annually for client apps in development, but clients must buy the plan that takes an app live.

Bubble (bubble.io) suits agencies that build client apps in a visual editor and then hand them over to run. The vehicle is the **Agency account at $78 per month per seat, billed annually** [1]; monthly billing is offered, but Bubble publishes no monthly figure. Each seat lets a developer build what Bubble's Agency page calls unlimited apps in development with the features of Bubble's Growth plan, use paid plugins at no charge and draw on 1,000 AI credits a month.

It never launches. Agency apps stay password-protected in run mode, so a project goes live only after ownership passes to the client, who buys a per-app plan such as Bubble's Starter plan (Web) at $32 per month billed annually or $39 per month billed monthly, per app. The fit is strong for studios that sell builds, retainers and optimization work, and weak for anyone hoping to host client apps on their own servers.

## What one Agency seat covers, and the line it cannot cross

Bubble bills the Agency account per user seat instead of per app, the single exception to its per-project pricing. Seats are personal. Every team member who builds is another paid seat, a seat cannot be shared between people, and the account may serve only apps built for customers, never the agency's own products. By our arithmetic, one seat comes to $936 a year billed annually. Extra seats can carry roles such as design, QA, product, sales or marketing, each with different admin access, so a studio can limit what a project manager is able to change.

Inside each development app, the seat unlocks premium version control with up to 10 custom branches and a changelog, the Bubble app API, what Bubble lists as unlimited security tests with weekly reports, and two app editors: one for the agency and one for the client. Native mobile, which Bubble still labels beta as of November 2026, is part of the package, since Bubble's manual says the Agency plan gives full web and mobile access during development. The gaps are deliberate. There is no JSON import or export of the app configuration, no workload tier and no overage option, because Bubble treats the account as a development space. Live traffic is out of scope.

## Handing a finished app to the client

The transfer is the hinge of every engagement. Bubble's terms require each customer to set up their own account at the proper subscription level before the app goes live to end users, and a transfer moves ownership to that Bubble user immediately [2]. Tick the option during the transfer and the previous owner stays on as an Admin collaborator. Skip it, and the agency loses access unless the client invites it back, which costs nothing. Later, plan payments for the app can move to another admin, whose card is charged at once.

| Item | On the Agency account | After transfer to the client's app plan |
|---|---|---|
| Live web app or store release | Not available; run mode is password-protected | From Starter, on the matching tab |
| App editors | 2 per app (agency and client) | 1 on Starter, 2 on Growth, 5 on Team |
| Paid plugins | Free in development | Client pays the subscription, Starter and up |
| Workload tiers and overages | Not available | Starter, Growth and Team |
| AI credits included | 1,000 a month | 1,000 Starter, 2,000 Growth, 4,000 Team a month |
| App configuration import/export (JSON) | Not available | Growth and up |

The editor rules favor agencies after handover. People working from Agency accounts do not count toward an app's collaborator limit on any plan, Free and Starter included, so a client on the entry live plan can still keep your developers in the editor. Paid plugins are the line item to flag early: free while the app sat in development, they must move to a paid subscription in production, and plugin subscriptions require a paid app plan. A mobile release also needs the client's own Apple Developer Program account at $99 a year and a Google Play Console account at $25 one-time, both paid to Apple and Google.

> 💡 **Transfer before launch week:** The client needs their own Bubble account at the right plan level before the app goes live. Tick the option to stay on as an Admin collaborator when you transfer ownership.

## Building the client's plan into the proposal

Clients pay per project, never per user. A project holds a web app, a mobile app or both, one plan covers both platforms of one project, and ten client projects mean ten plans. On the Web tab, Bubble's Growth plan is $119 per month billed annually or $134 per month billed monthly, per app, and Bubble's Team plan is $349 per month billed annually or $399 per month billed monthly, per app [3]. A client who wants web and native mobile on one backend lands on the Web & Mobile tab, where Bubble's Starter plan (Web & Mobile) is $59 per month billed annually or $69 per month billed monthly, per project.

Quote the tier from what the client needs after launch, not from headcount. Growth is the floor for collaborators beyond the owner, custom branches, two-factor authentication for the app's users and advanced security checks. Team adds five app editors, sub apps, scheduled deployments and custom alerts. A chosen hosting region, a dedicated instance, SSO, an uptime SLA or a static IP all require Enterprise, which carries no published price. Annual plans bind the client for the full year and nothing is refunded. Our [buyer's checklist](/articles/bubble-buyers-checklist) runs through those gates before a client signs.

## Workload tuning as a billable service

Every client plan includes a monthly allowance of workload units, from 175K on Starter to 500K on Team, and the meter counts server work in Development as well as Live. Past the allowance, overages run at $0.30 per 1K WU, billed in arrears on a separate invoice, and are on by default. Switch them off and the app goes offline at the limit until overages are enabled, a tier is bought or the next billing period starts. Our [pricing guide](/articles/bubble-pricing) covers tiers and those settings in full. That meter is an opening. Efficiency becomes something an agency can sell, and Bubble's manual publishes agency showcases on exactly that.

According to Bubble's manual, Minimum Studio cut a sales SaaS app from 6 million WU to 900K. Support Dept reduced workload by 90% on a bulk record-checking process by replacing a recursive workflow with Schedule API workflow on a list. Audits usually start in App metrics in the Logs tab, which breaks usage down by page, workflow, element and expression over 30 days. Filtered searches that turn into one search per row, privacy rules that could withhold unneeded fields, and unauthenticated public endpoints are the first suspects. Custom alerts above 1,000 WU per hour, day, week or month come with the client's Team plan.

## Winning work through tiers, the directory and RFPs

Bubble ranks agencies Bronze, Silver or Gold. Tiering starts with the Bubble Developer Certification, rests on customer satisfaction and revenue, and is reviewed every quarter, and tiered agencies join the Hire a Developer matching. Each Agency account includes one free certification attempt for every developer added; agencies can also buy exam seats in bulk and link certificates to the agency, though certificates belong to individuals. Bubble verifies a profile before listing it in the experts directory, which showed 197 results in November 2026, and says a listing is neither an endorsement nor a partnership.

The RFP portal is free for active agencies, filters by minimum budget, and leaves contracts to be agreed outside Bubble. Bubble's agency guide (June 2023) says attractive requests draw dozens of bids within 24 hours, and its developer page (as read in November 2026) counts 3K+ developers, 4K+ RFPs a year and 300+ agencies. Featured Gold agencies publish their own starting budgets: Airdev from $5,000, RapidDev from $999, Zeroqode from $1,999 and Chakor from $1,000. Bubble's blog (March 2026) says RapidDev, its 2025 Agency of the Year, grew to 220 people and 400+ product launches.

Two outside marketplaces lean on the same credentials. Upwork's program requires a Bubble Agency account, the certification and an Upwork profile; applications are reviewed monthly, and approved developers get a Bubble Expert tag. Contra's program accepts only certified developers who hold a current Agency account and a Contra profile, and members must publish at least two Bubble projects and offer one Bubble service. Since July 2026, agencies can also collect and manage client satisfaction feedback inside Bubble. Launch Lab, Bubble's free application-based program for storytelling and amplification, is open to agencies as well as solo builders.

## The terms an agency signs

The agency addendum is stricter than a client's terms. Once accepted, an order form cannot be canceled, and no refunds are granted [4]. Bubble may move an agency up or down a tier at its sole discretion, based on performance history, tier requirements and complaints. The agency also indemnifies Bubble against claims its customers bring over the agency's acts or its relationship with them. Read all three clauses before adding seats. Code stays behind, too: Bubble has no code export, only data as CSV, JSON or NDJSON, as our [Bubble review](/articles/bubble-review) explains, so clients who insist on owning source code may be better served by a code-writing builder; see [Lovable for agencies](/articles/lovable-for-agencies).

Security belongs in the handover pack. Bubble's preliminary root-cause analysis (November 2026) says an attacker in October 2026 gained partial access to its production systems and some user data, including private plugin data such as credentials plugin developers had saved in the plugin editor. It also says the attacker targeted individual apps through platform issues that reached stored credentials or data even in correctly set-up apps, and through settings such as privacy rules that granted access, with affected owners contacted; a final RCA will follow. Bubble advises running the security dashboard, reviewing privacy rules, marking API keys private and keeping editors private. Privacy rules and compliance of the client's app stay the builder's job.

> ⚠ **Agency orders cannot be canceled:** Under Bubble's agency addendum, an accepted order form cannot be canceled and no refunds are granted, so add seats only when the work is lined up.

## FAQ

**Can two developers share one Bubble Agency seat?**

No. Bubble's agency terms say seats may not be shared between agency users, and a violation can lead to cancellation of the subscription or termination of the account.

**Is there a discount on the Bubble Agency account?**

Bubble's AWS partnership page (as read in November 2026) says SMBs that are AWS Connected Community members are eligible for Bubble credits and a 10% discount on Bubble Agency, an offer it describes as valid for six months.

**What does the Bubble certification exam cover?**

It has 90 randomized questions, a 3.5-hour limit and an 80% pass mark, in English only. It does not cover plugins other than the API Connector, templates or the Plugin Editor.

**Can agency profiles show client reviews?**

Bubble's agency blog (June 2023) says agency profiles show client reviews through a Clutch integration.

## The bottom line

Bubble works for agencies whose business is building and then maintaining client apps. One Agency seat covers what Bubble calls unlimited development apps with Growth features, and the client funds production on a per-app plan. Afterward the client can invite your team back for free, and developers on Agency accounts do not count toward the app's editor limit. The trade-offs are fixed: no live deploys from the seat, no published monthly seat price, agency orders that cannot be canceled, and apps that never leave Bubble as code. If your clients accept that, the tier system, the RFP portal and paid workload audits give a studio more than one way to earn.
