Figma Slides is Figma's presentation tool. It is built for designers and the people around them: live decks that
several people edit at once, with Figma's design tools a toggle away, clickable prototypes and live polls inside the
slides, and AI that can draft a deck from a FigJam board. On paid plans it is included with every seat that can create. That matters for budgets.

Everything below comes from Figma's own pages and help center, read on 9 October 2026.

## What Figma Slides is

Figma calls Slides the first presentation tool built for designers and their teammates, for design reviews, startup
pitches, class projects and conference talks [112]. Decks are live files, so collaborators work on the same deck
at the same time without saving or passing files around [112].

The editor has a canvas with slide and grid views, left and right sidebars, and a toolbar [112].

> 💡 **undefined:** Mix layouts from several templates in one deck.

## A short history

Figma Slides entered open beta on 26 June 2024. Figma said its users had created about 3.5 million presentations in
Figma Design in the previous year, working around missing basics such as speaker notes and transitions [327].

Slides left beta on 19 March 2025, after more than 30 new features, and became available to anyone on a Full, Dev or
Collab seat [330]. That release added video controls, components, object-level animations and PPTX import and
export [330]. The video controls include blur effects, scrubbing and playback speed in the editor
[330].

## What it costs

Slides is included with all seats on every plan [16]. On Starter you get three Slides files [129]. On paid
plans, the Full, Dev and Collab seats can all create in Slides; Collab costs US$3 a month billed annually on Professional
[92] [2].

A free View seat can view and comment on decks but not create them [92]. Viewers only watch.

> 💡 **undefined:** Copy existing decks from Figma Design if frames are between 4:3 and 16:9.

## How the price changed

The November 2024 pricing page said Slides was in beta through 2024 and would cost US$3 or US$5 a month on paid plans
from early 2025, free on Starter [4]. Since March 2025 Slides has instead been folded into every paid seat
[5].

For teams paying for a separate presentation tool, that is the main argument for trying Slides. It costs nothing
extra.

## Slides mode and design mode

Slides mode is the default and keeps the interface simple: templates, content, interactive elements and styling
[112]. Design mode unlocks Figma Design features such as auto layout, the layers panel and advanced properties
[258].

Design mode requires a Full seat and edit access; the shortcut is Shift D [258]. The seats table says a Dev seat
can create in Slides but without design mode [92].

> ⚠ **undefined:** PowerPoint imports drop videos, tables, diagrams and animations.

## Why Figma built it

Figma's launch post cited research it attributed to Visme: 45% of presenters find it hard to design creative layouts,
41% struggle to find and use good visuals, and 47% spend more than eight hours designing a presentation [327].
It also cited a TechSmith study in which 97% of people who use images say visuals make messages more effective
[327].

Those are third-party figures quoted by the vendor, not Figma's own measurements.

## Grid view and the narrative

Grid view arranges slide sections in rows so you can resequence a talk; Figma's launch post quotes a product designer:
"When you have more than 20 slides in a deck, changing your story arc gets much harder" [327]. Changes made in
grid view carry over to slide view [327].

Pasting an interactive component with a hover state brings it to life when presenting, the same post says
[327]. Static decks cannot do that.

> ⚠ **undefined:** Audience members need Figma accounts for polls and prototypes.

## Templates

Slide templates provide colors, fonts and layouts, and unlike many presentation tools, Slides lets you mix layouts from
different templates in one deck [112]. Adding a layout also makes its color and font styles available to the
whole deck [112].

Paid plans can publish custom templates to a team or organization [112]. On Starter, template publishing in
Slides is not available [129].

## Organizing a long deck

Slides can be added from any template's layouts, duplicated, moved and deleted, and grouped by speaker or topic
[309]. Grid view shows the whole deck at once, which helps check the narrative [112].

## Starting a deck

Anyone with a Figma account can create decks in their drafts, with no limit on the number of drafts; creating a deck in
a team needs edit access to that team [296]. Drafts are private until you invite someone [296].

On Starter, decks moved into the team folder count toward its three Slides files [129].

## Community templates

Templates from the Figma Community can be duplicated into your drafts; you get a new file without the original's version
history, comments or permissions, and later updates do not flow through [297]. Slide templates published to the
Community are licensed under Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 [297].

Publishing your own template to the Community needs a paid plan [291].

## Publishing team templates

Custom templates are a paid feature, and Professional teams can publish only five per team [290]. A template can
be published only to the team where its file lives [290].

Organizations get template governance across teams; Professional teams should choose their five carefully. Five
is few.

## Text, shapes, images and tables

Slides supports text with hyperlinks and links to other slides, shapes with text and connectors for simple diagrams,
images and videos that can be cropped, bordered, overlaid or blurred, and tables [112].

Image uploads and YouTube embeds work on any plan, but video uploads need a paid plan [307]. Uploaded SVGs become
editable vector layers rather than images [307]. Tables can be built from scratch, pasted from Google Sheets or
FigJam, or imported from CSV, up to 500 cells each [308]. Shapes with text have a text layer built in, unlike
shapes drawn in design mode [311].

If you add a Figma Design library, its text styles apply to slide content [112].

## Libraries and components

Slides can use components, styles and variables from Figma Design libraries [112]. Components can also be built
inside Slides: creating them needs a Full seat on a paid plan, while Collab, Dev and Full seats can add instances
[260].

For brand teams, this is the difference between a deck that follows the design system and one that only looks like it.
Consistency is built in.

## Backgrounds, numbers and bulk edits

Each slide's background can be a single color, a gradient or an image [293]. Slide numbers can count across the whole
deck or within a row, can show the total, and skip skipped slides [289].

You can select layers across many slides and edit them together, including several text layers at once; live
interactions cannot be bulk-edited [294]. In design mode, Shift-clicking an alignment button aligns layers to each
slide's layout guide [294].

## Using your design library

Adding a Figma Design library to a deck gives everyone with edit access its components, variables and styles, keeping
colors, fonts and logos in sync [295]. Components and their properties work in both slides mode and design mode
[295].

## Live interactions

Live interactions are polls, alignment scales and similar widgets the audience can use during the talk; results appear
in real time and are kept for later [257]. You can add as many as you like to a slide [257].

The audience must be logged in to Figma and have at least view access to the deck [257]. Anonymous audiences
cannot vote.

## Polls, scales and stamps

The launch post describes polls, alignment scales that show at a glance who agrees, and prompts answered with team face
stamps [327]. The Slides page adds that poll and vote responses save to the deck automatically [16].

The idea is borrowed from FigJam: Figma says it ran its own kickoffs, bug bashes and all-hands in FigJam before building
Slides [327].

## Interactive prototypes

You can place clickable Figma Design prototypes in a slide for demos, user research sessions or product decisions
[256]. Audience members must be logged in and have view access to both the deck and the prototype file
[256].

Figma Make prototypes can also be embedded and played inside a deck [234].

## Animations and transitions

The Animate tab adds transitions between slides [112]. Object animations let an object slide in, exit or fade, with
a style, a duration and a timing that starts on click or after the previous animation [288].

Any object type can be animated except interactive elements such as live interactions and prototypes, and only objects
on a slide, not on the canvas [288]. Videos can be styled with overlays, opacity, borders and rounded corners
[16].

## Code blocks

Code blocks add formatted snippets with syntax highlighting, suited to code reviews, technical interviews and teaching
[263]. You choose the language and a color theme in the right sidebar [263].

## Presenter notes and presenting

Presenter notes support basic markdown such as bold, italics, strikethrough and lists [259]. Anyone with view
access can open a deck in presenter view [259].

Skipped slides stay in the deck for editing but do not play, and are left out of PDF exports [264]. Co-presenting
controls and presenter notes are part of the Slides page's pitch [16].

## Presenting together

Presenter view opens the current slide in a new tab, either full screen or with presenter notes [287]. When
several people present, each needs view access and the deck open in presenter view, so they can take the spotlight in
turn [287].

Figma's own help article puts the point plainly: no one has to keep asking for the next slide [287].

Spotlight also works in the editor: others follow your view of the deck, though not your actions in the toolbar or
sidebars [310]. Combined with audio and cursor chat, Figma pitches it as a way to collaborate without a separate
meeting tool [310].

## Plugins

Since February 2025 Slides has supported plugins, as Figma and FigJam do [328]. Figma's launch post highlighted
IconScout for icons, illustrations and Lottie animations, Mesh Gradient for custom backgrounds, and PDF.to.design for
turning PDFs into editable layers [328].

## Collaborating

Slides decks support comments, cursor chat and audio while editing [16]. Audio is not available during Slides
presentations themselves [244].

Because decks are live, there is no version emailed around; anyone with access sees the current deck. One file. One
truth.

## AI in Slides

Slides' AI tools can generate a deck from a FigJam board, draft presenter notes and adjust the tone or length of text
[236] [16]. They need a paid plan and a Full, Dev or Collab seat [236].

The list also covers rewriting, translating and shortening text, making and editing images, removing backgrounds,
boosting resolution, expanding images, isolating objects, and AI search for decks across your team, organization or the
Community [236].

Figma warns that AI outputs may be misleading or wrong and should be checked [236].

## A page that still says AI is free

The Slides product page answers its own FAQ by saying Figma's AI features are free while in beta and will become paid at
general availability [16]. Figma moved its AI out of beta in December 2025 and enforces seat credit limits since
March 2026 [6].

The same FAQ says AI would reach anyone on Professional, Organization or Enterprise by the end of April 2025, if the
admin's AI toggle is on [16]. Treat the help center's credit pages, not the product page, as current [94].

## From FigJam board to deck

From the template picker you choose Make Slides with an outline, pick a FigJam board you can view, choose a page or the
whole board, and select a template; Slides drafts the deck [262]. It is meant as a starting point, not a finished
talk [262]. Edit before presenting.

## Decks from ChatGPT

Since December 2025 the Figma app in ChatGPT can turn a conversation into a slide deck you then edit in Figma Slides, or
into visual assets for Figma Buzz [329]. Generating a Slides presentation this way consumes Figma AI credits
[94].

## What AI costs in Slides

Generating a Figma Slides presentation through ChatGPT costs about 28 to 72 credits or more, with larger, image-heavy
decks costing more [94]. Text tools draw on the same monthly credits as the rest of Figma AI [94].

## Importing PowerPoint

Slides imports .pptx files on any plan [188]. Text switches to Slides' default font, Inter, and videos, tables,
diagrams and animations are not imported [188].

Figma recommends reviewing imported decks carefully, because some objects may change or disappear [188]. Check
every slide.

## Moving decks from Figma Design

Designers who built decks as frames in Figma Design can copy them to Slides, gaining presenter notes, transitions and
live interactions [261]. The option appears only for top-level frames with an aspect ratio between 4:3 and 16:9,
and only the file's owner can use it [261].

## Exporting

Decks export to PPTX or PDF, and you can save a .deck file to move decks between accounts or keep a backup
[255]. Bulk export is not supported [255]. One deck at a time.

Exporting assets from design mode needs edit access and a Full seat [255].

## Templates Figma offers

The Slides page lists templates for product reviews, design reviews, startup pitches, all-hands meetings, product
roadmaps, research readouts, marketing strategy and project reviews [16]. Community templates add more
[297].

One quote on the page, from a product designer at The Browser Company, sums up the pitch: a single system to present
ideas and prototypes [16].

## How teams use it

Figma's GA post describes Merkle building decks from core templates with components inherited from its global design
system, and the AI company Decagon rebuilding its sales deck around its brand assets [330]. A creative director at Jasper described Slides decks as "storytelling tools crafted to inspire, communicate
effectively, and foster alignment" [330]. Decagon's chief
executive put the case in one line: "There’s ROI in the impression we leave." [330]

The same post introduces Raise, a pitch-deck template for seed and pre-seed founders [330]. These are vendor case
studies. They show intended use, not measured results.

## Slides against Pitch

Pitch is the presentation-first alternative, with a free plan, AI credits and team plans [183]. Its pricing page
served us euros, so we quote no dollar price.

Pitch's advantage is focus; Slides' is that the deck sits next to the designs, prototypes and boards it presents.
Choose by context.

## Who should use Slides

Design and product teams who present their own work: design reviews with live prototypes, research readouts built from
FigJam, pitch decks that follow the design system.

## Who should look elsewhere

Teams that need animations and complex objects carried over from PowerPoint, people who present offline without Figma
accounts for the audience's interactive elements, and anyone on a free View seat.

## FAQ

**Is Figma Slides free?**

Starter includes three Slides files. On paid plans Slides comes with Full, Dev and Collab seats.

**Can Figma Slides export to PowerPoint?**

Yes, decks export to PPTX or PDF, one deck at a time.

## Verdict

Figma Slides is the best presentation tool for teams already in Figma, because it costs nothing extra on a paid seat and
connects decks to the work they show. Outside that context it is a capable, young presentation tool with honest limits
on import and export.
