Gorgias charges the whole account by **billable tickets a month**, not by the number of people answering them. Starter costs $10 a month, billed monthly only, for 50 tickets. Basic costs $60 a month billed monthly or $50 a month billed annually for 300 tickets. Pro costs $360 a month billed monthly or $300 a month billed annually for 2,000 tickets. Advanced costs $900 a month billed monthly or $750 a month billed annually for 5,000 tickets.[1] Busy months add overage per ticket, and AI Agent runs on a second meter. The verdict is simple. Gorgias is cheap for a large team with a quiet inbox. It is expensive for a small team with a busy one. Count your tickets first.

**300 tickets** — Included each month on Basic, $60 a month billed monthly or $50 a month billed annually

- **$10 a month** — Starter, billed monthly only, 50 tickets
- **$0.40 / $0.36** — Overage per ticket: Starter and Basic / Pro and Advanced
- **$1.50** — Per AI Agent automated interaction past the included amount, every plan

## Four plans, priced by tickets instead of people

> **About these prices:** Prices shown are what Gorgias lists for visitors in the United States, in US dollars. Your price can differ by country, currency and local taxes such as VAT. Check your current price — Gorgias: https://api.colosus.site/go/gorgias?to=pricing

| Plan | Billed monthly | Billed annually | Tickets a month | Overage per ticket | User seats |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Starter | $10 a month | Not offered | 50 | $0.40 | 3 |
| Basic | $60 a month | $50 a month | 300 | $0.40 | 500 |
| Pro | $360 a month | $300 a month | 2,000 | $0.36 | 500 |
| Advanced | $900 a month | $750 a month | 5,000 | $0.36 | 500 |

Seats are a cap, not a price. Starter allows 3 user seats, so a fourth user means Basic; from Basic up, adding people (up to 500) does not change the price, so two agents or forty agents on Pro pay the same $300 a month billed annually. Only volume moves the bill. Annual billing starts on Basic and is charged upfront for 12 months. Basic billed annually comes to $600 a year against $720 billed monthly. Pro comes to $3,600 a year against $4,320. Advanced comes to $9,000 a year against $10,800. By our arithmetic, annual billing costs about 17% less, so paying monthly costs 20% more.

Feature gates can force an upgrade before volume does. Basic adds BigCommerce, business hours and email-history import. Pro adds revenue reporting, audit logs and Magento 2. Advanced adds custom SSO. The custom Enterprise plan, sold through sales for teams over 5,000 conversations a month, adds SAML SSO, SCIM provisioning, unlimited Help Centers and a dedicated success manager. Gorgias does not publish its price. Every plan already includes the help center, rules, macros, SLAs, the REST API and the Shopify connection.

## What turns a conversation into a billable ticket

A ticket becomes billable when at least one message goes out from the helpdesk, sent by a human agent, a Rule or AI Agent.[2] It counts once, however long the thread runs. Much traffic is never billed: unanswered tickets, spam, newsletters and auto-responders (filtered automatically), replies typed inside Facebook or Instagram, imported emails you never answer, light chat campaigns the shopper ignores, and test-mode conversations.

Two rules catch teams out. **A Rule auto-reply makes the ticket billable**, so an automatic acknowledgment on every email turns each one into a paid ticket. Inactivity also splits threads: a customer who writes again after more than 10 days on email, or more than 3 days on chat, SMS or voice, opens a new ticket. A store with long return windows can see one shopper generate three tickets.

Past the allowance, Gorgias keeps serving tickets and bills overage. No pause at the limit is published. Gorgias's own help example shows the scale: a Basic account with 300 tickets at $60 a month that uses 302 pays $60.80. The Manage button on Billing & usage raises a limit ahead of a busy month.

> 💡 **Raise the limit before a peak:** The Manage button on Billing & usage raises a usage limit ahead of time. Gorgias may also recommend an upgrade when it would cost less than overage.

## AI Agent puts a second meter on the same conversation

AI Agent is a line on top of the helpdesk plan. With AI Agent, Starter costs $40 a month billed monthly, with 30 automated interactions. With AI Agent, Basic costs $90 a month billed monthly or $77 a month billed annually, with 30. With AI Agent, Pro costs $550 a month billed monthly or $471 a month billed annually, with 190. With AI Agent, Advanced costs $1,430 a month billed monthly or $1,227 a month billed annually, with 530. Included interactions cost $1.00 each on monthly billing and $0.90 on annual billing.

Past the included amount, every plan pays $1.50 per automated interaction. Then comes the double count. **Each AI Agent resolution also counts as a billable helpdesk ticket.** A handover to a human carries only the ticket fee, and Flows, Order Management and Article Recommendations resolutions carry only the automation fee. An interaction counts as automated only if the shopper reaches no human within 72 hours. Take Pro with AI Agent billed monthly: 300 resolutions in a month mean 110 extra interactions, or $165 on top, and they also use 300 of the 2,000 tickets.

AI Agent, Shopping Assistant and Order Management need a connected Shopify store. Starter can buy AI Agent but gets neither Actions nor brand voice and guardrails. Accounts created before 28 May 2025 that never upgraded to current AI pricing stay on a legacy model where a ticket counts as a helpdesk ticket or an automated interaction, never both.[3] Settings > Billing and usage shows which applies.

> ⚠ **AI resolutions count twice:** Each AI Agent resolution uses one automated interaction and one billable helpdesk ticket, so AI volume also eats the plan's ticket allowance.

## Which plan your ticket volume points to

Upgrades are break-even sums, and they differ by billing term. By our arithmetic, Starter plus overage reaches the monthly Basic price at 175 tickets a month and passes annual Basic at 150. Basic plus overage reaches the monthly Pro price at 1,050 tickets, while annual Basic catches annual Pro at 925. Pro plus overage reaches Advanced at 3,500 tickets on monthly billing and 3,250 on annual billing. Below each threshold, overage is cheaper. Above it, upgrade.

Basic at 400 tickets a month costs $100 billed monthly. Pro at 2,500 tickets a month costs $540 billed monthly. Seasonal stores should **size an annual plan for an ordinary month**: peaks cost overage for a few weeks, while a plan sized for the peak cannot be downgraded mid-term. Features can overrule the sums, since a fourth teammate on Starter, a Magento store or revenue reporting forces a move at any volume.

## Add-ons and contract terms

Voice and SMS are add-ons with their own ticket counts, outside the helpdesk allowance. Voice starts from $25 a month on annual pricing or $30 a month on monthly pricing. SMS starts from $17 a month on annual pricing or $20 a month on monthly pricing. Convert, the onsite campaign tool, is a separate plan billed per click, from $30 a month for 150 clicks. Taxes come on top. Stores that install from the Shopify App Store can pay through their Shopify bill.

There is no free plan. The trial lasts 7 days with all features and no card, but it cannot create a help center, and an account that never upgrades is deleted after 90 days. Our [guide to whether Gorgias is free](/articles/is-gorgias-free) covers the trial limits. Plans renew automatically, and annual plans need written notice at least 30 days before the term ends.[4] Monthly plans can be cancelled anytime, effective at the next renewal date.

Downgrades are not allowed during a term; upgrades are, charged for the rest of it. Fees are non-refundable under the Master Subscription Agreement, except where the law requires or at Gorgias's discretion. Gorgias may raise renewal prices on at least 60 days' notice. Uninstalling the Shopify app does not cancel. After termination, ask for an export within 45 days, because Gorgias deletes customer data within 90 days.

> 💡 **Set the renewal reminder early:** Annual plans need written cancellation notice at least 30 days before the term ends. A calendar reminder 45 to 60 days ahead leaves room to decide.

## How tickets compare with per-agent helpdesks

Zendesk and Freshdesk charge per agent, which flips the math. Zendesk Suite Team costs $55 per agent a month billed annually or $69 billed monthly, with AI agents and 5 automated resolutions per agent a month included. Five Zendesk Suite Team agents cost $275 a month billed annually, while Gorgias Basic billed annually stays under that up to 862 tickets a month by our arithmetic. Zendesk's [pricing breakdown](/articles/zendesk-pricing) lists every plan. Freshdesk Growth costs $19 per agent a month billed annually, but live chat needs Freshdesk Omni, at $29 per agent a month billed annually on Growth.

After both allowances, Gorgias charges $1.50 per automated interaction, which is also a ticket, while Zendesk charges $2.00 per automated resolution pay-as-you-go or $1.50 committed. Freddy AI Agent gives 500 sessions once, then sells packs of 100 for $49 and stops answering when sessions run out; Gorgias bills overage instead. Our [Freshdesk pricing guide](/articles/freshdesk-pricing) covers those packs in full.

## FAQ

**Why did a $1 charge appear on my card?**

Adding a new card triggers a temporary $1 authorization, which is refunded within 7 days.

**What happens if a Gorgias payment fails?**

The invoice is marked Unpaid and the payment is retried up to 4 times over 14 days; after that the account can be suspended.

**Does Gorgias add sales tax?**

Yes, taxes come on top of the plan price, including US state sales tax. Customers in Canada, the EU and Australia can add a tax ID in billing settings.

**Can I change my billing date?**

Yes, by emailing Gorgias billing; plan changes are prorated. Switching from monthly to annual billing is self-serve, while annual to monthly also needs an email.

## The bottom line

Gorgias pricing rewards stores whose team is large relative to their ticket count, since from Basic up, adding people (up to 500) does not change the price. Starter at $10 a month billed monthly suits a founder answering under 175 tickets a month. Most growing stores land on Basic or Pro. The real decision is volume: check last year's peak month, your Rule auto-replies and the AI resolutions you expect, since each one uses a ticket. Choose annual only after counting, and put the renewal notice on the calendar.
