## What Hootsuite Wisdom is, and what it replaced

Hootsuite's AI now has one name. Wisdom is the assistant that sits across the Social OS, the suite Hootsuite launched on June 24, 2026, when its products were renamed Perch, Nest, Lumen and Parliament. It replaces four older brands at once: OwlyGPT, OwlyWriter AI, the Talkwalker assistant Yeti and the Blue Silk AI that summarized listening data, which is why older help pages and marketing copy still use those names interchangeably. If a page you are reading says OwlyWriter or Yeti, it describes a feature that now lives under Wisdom, formerly sold under those labels.

Wisdom is included in every plan, from Standard at $99 per user a month billed annually upward [1]. That matters, because many AI features in social tools sit behind an extra fee. Hootsuite describes Wisdom as a social-first agent with brand context from your connected channels and real-time listening data. In practice it is a chat panel you open from the header of any product area, and it knows which page you are on. Paste a URL to ground an answer on that page, and copy a finished answer into the composer with Create. Chat history is stored, and conversations can be deleted.

The rest of Hootsuite's AI is not Wisdom. The generative AI chatbot, smart replies and AI classifiers belong to the Enterprise inbox, LLM Insights is a listening add-on, and the MCP connectors let outside assistants such as Claude and ChatGPT work with your Hootsuite data. They have different plan gates and different data rules. We cover each below, then close with a playbook.

> ⚠ **Parliament MCP shares go live at once:** A share sent through the Parliament connector without a schedule publishes immediately, with no draft, review or undo.

## Drafting posts and images with Wisdom

Drafting is where Wisdom earns its place on smaller plans. It generates posts, campaign ideas, briefs, images and captions from a plain-language request, and it needs no Boolean or prompt expertise. Inside the composer it can enhance a caption, fix spelling and grammar, shorten or elaborate it, or make it more engaging, provided the organization has AI enabled. You can feed it material, too. Wisdom accepts up to three JPG or PNG images at a time, up to 30 MB each, and up to two documents in PDF, DOCX, TXT or MD format. The limits are 2 MB for DOCX, TXT and MD and 5 MB for PDF.

Document handling is basic. Wisdom extracts text only, uses the most recently uploaded document and does not analyze layouts or images inside it. A brand guideline PDF full of visual rules will therefore teach it the words but not the look. Inside the composer, Wisdom also keeps no chat history beyond the current session, unlike the full Wisdom panel, so save prompts that work somewhere outside the tool. A shared team document of tested prompts does the job.

### Brand voice from your last 30 posts

Brand voice is the feature most teams will lean on. **Wisdom analyzes the last 30 posts from the previous three months** of a social account you choose and drafts in that tone. The Perch page adds that uploaded brand guidelines feed the voice as well. Two catches follow. An account that posts rarely gives Wisdom little to learn from, and a quarter of off-brand posts will teach it the wrong habits. Brand voice is also not available for Bluesky accounts.

> 💡 **Feed brand voice good posts:** Wisdom learns from the last 30 posts of the previous three months. Pick an account that posts often and on-brand before you rely on its drafts.

### Images with an AI marker

Wisdom generates images in ten aspect ratios, from 1:1 to 21:9, and can create variations of an image you upload. Every generated image carries a machine-readable marker that labels it as AI-generated, which authentication tools can detect. For brands that disclose AI use, that is a help. For anyone hoping to pass a generated image off as a photo, it is a deliberate obstacle. The marker has applied since August 2025, when the feature still ran under the OwlyGPT name.

## Asking Wisdom about performance

The second job Wisdom does is analysis. Its Analytics and Insights agent answers questions about social performance using Hootsuite's own analytics, without any data upload, and it can look at up to 20 social profiles at once. Ask which post types worked last month, or why engagement dropped, and it will answer in plain language. Answers include citations. The help article is frank about the limits, though, and they shape what you can trust [2].

**Wisdom analyzes only the five most popular and five least popular posts.** Everything in between is invisible to it, so a question about your typical post gets an answer built from the extremes. Competitor data works only for X, Instagram and Facebook, and those competitors must first be set up in Hootsuite Analytics. Bluesky analytics are not supported at all. Demographic data is richest for X, then Instagram, and limited for Facebook.

The engagement figure is the trap. Wisdom counts engagement as comments, reactions and shares, and it leaves clicks out. Its numbers can therefore differ from the ones in Hootsuite Analytics for the same post. That is not an error, but it will confuse anyone who pastes a Wisdom answer into a report next to a dashboard export. Use Wisdom to find patterns, then confirm the figures in analytics before they reach a manager.

## Wisdom in Lumen, on mobile and in the calendar

Wisdom behaves differently depending on where you meet it. In Lumen, the listening product, it summarizes conversations with numbered inline citations that link to the original sources, and it shows no citation when it cannot confidently link one. It is also widget-aware on dashboards, applying the selected widget's topic, filters and time range to its answers. The Lumen agent inside the main Wisdom panel is narrower. It answers with listening data from the previous seven days only.

Wisdom in Lumen runs on a monthly quota. A Wisdom Usage view under Settings, Account Settings, Usage Insights shows consumption by product, user and copilot, and custom copilots can be built in Wisdom Agent Studio. Hootsuite does not state the size of the quota on the pages we read. For more on what Lumen itself covers on each plan, see our guide to [Hootsuite social listening](/articles/hootsuite-social-listening).

### Wisdom on mobile

Wisdom reached the mobile app in August 2026. The current help article says it needs app version 11.7.0 or later, while the launch note named earlier versions, so update the app before testing. It is not available if your organization opted out of AI features. The launch note also requires the Social OS experience to be enabled and leaves out Parliament (formerly Amplify) users. On mobile, Wisdom offers a Publishing agent and an Analytics and Insights agent with predefined prompts, and it can turn a rough idea, a voice note or performance data into a draft. Images cannot be uploaded, and prompts time out after two minutes.

### Calendar captions and the 300-token allowance

The content calendar shows holidays and trending events based on the administrator account's country, and Wisdom can write a caption for each. Every such caption uses one token from a monthly allowance of 300, which renews on the first of each month. **These AI captions are currently available only in English**, a real limit for teams posting in French or Spanish.

## What Wisdom cannot do yet

Some limits are by design. Wisdom cannot publish on its own. Every product page repeats the same rule: people review, approve and publish. For regulated teams that is reassuring, and for anyone who hoped to automate a posting calendar end to end, it is a stop sign. A Wisdom answer reaches your audience only after someone copies it into the composer and schedules it like any other post.

Other limits are about timing. Wisdom works with Perch and Lumen today, while Wisdom in Nest and Wisdom in Parliament are both marked coming soon. The Nest version is described as prioritizing conversations and drafting customer responses, which is exactly what most care teams want, but it is not available yet. Some pages contradict this. The Wisdom page claims the assistant knows your inbox, and the Parliament FAQ describes the link as current, yet both product pages list those connections as coming soon. Plan around the stricter reading.

> ⚠ **Wisdom cannot publish by itself:** Every Wisdom draft needs a person to review and publish it, and Wisdom in Nest and Parliament is still marked coming soon.

## The Enterprise inbox AI: chatbot, smart replies and classifiers

Customer care AI lives in Nest, and almost all of it is gated. The generative AI chatbot requires Enterprise with Advanced Inbox, and some pages call it a separately purchased add-on with its own terms. It answers on websites, Facebook Messenger, Instagram, LinkedIn, X and WhatsApp, and it speaks English, French and Spanish. Hootsuite claims it can automate up to 80 percent of message replies. Treat that as the vendor's ceiling, not a forecast.

The chatbot draws its answers only from your organization's pre-approved knowledge files. Those must be PDF or TXT under 1 MB, cannot contain images or tables, and a knowledge center holds at most 100 of them. It runs on OpenAI GPT or Microsoft Azure OpenAI, and Hootsuite states that customer data and inputs are not used by OpenAI to train its models. Predefined settings decide when it hands a conversation to a human agent, and escalations can go to the inbox or a connected Salesforce instance. One quirk is worth knowing: the bot cannot tell Facebook DMs from Facebook story replies.

### Smart replies and AI classifiers

Smart replies analyze the content, sentiment and intent of public conversations and suggest an answer that an agent can accept or edit. They draw on the same knowledge center and also require Enterprise with Advanced Inbox. They are not available for Facebook or Instagram private messages or for WhatsApp. AI classifiers, launched in February 2026, sort incoming messages using natural-language prompts instead of keyword lists. Up to five can be active at once, and their output can drive routing, topic tags, auto-resolution or a hand-off to a CRM.

## LLM Insights: how your brand shows up in AI answers

LLM Insights answers a newer question: what do AI assistants say about your brand? It monitors answers from ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude and Perplexity, and compares AI visibility, average position, total mentions and share of voice against competitors. It ships with six prompt templates plus custom prompts, and built-in AI summaries explain how perception changes over time. A September 2026 update added a citations and sources table, a visibility score and average position at no extra cost for existing customers.

It is not cheap to reach. LLM Insights is a Lumen add-on for Enterprise and for customers still on the legacy Business plan, and its page offers only a demo request, with no price shown. For a marketing team that already pays for advanced listening, it is a sensible extension. For a small team on Standard, it is out of reach. Budget a sales conversation before you plan around it.

## The MCP connectors: Hootsuite inside Claude and ChatGPT

The MCP connectors run the other way from Wisdom. Instead of bringing AI into Hootsuite, they let an outside assistant read and act on your Hootsuite data. There are four servers, and each has a hard stop [3]. Perch has 16 tools for drafts, media uploads up to 1 GB and analytics for the last 25 months. The developer reference says it cannot publish or schedule, although Hootsuite's MCP help article says it can publish posts, so plan around the developer reference. Nest has 17 tools for triage, status, notes and assignment, and cannot send replies. Lumen is read-only and needs an active Talkwalker licence. Parliament has 9 tools for advocacy posts and share plans.

Parliament carries the real risk. **A share sent through it publishes immediately when no schedule is set**, with no draft, review or undo. At launch the connectors worked with Claude and ChatGPT only, through pre-built connectors, while Gemini and Microsoft Copilot users must pass the server URL to an IT administrator. Sessions are stateless, and data from X, LinkedIn, Reddit, Snapchat and YouTube is excluded while a connector is active.

The commercial side is thin. Perch and Nest work only on plans that include MCP connector access, and Hootsuite does not publish which plans those are. Lumen also needs a Talkwalker standalone licence, and Parliament itself is sold only with an Enterprise plan. The MCP terms provide the servers as is, with no warranty or service level commitment, and let Hootsuite change rate limits without notice or add fees later. Our [Hootsuite API guide](/articles/hootsuite-api) covers the server details for developers.

## Who owns your data: the AI terms

Data use is where buyers should read slowly. Hootsuite's AI Terms, last modified in July 2025, cover AI features in Enterprise, self-serve plans and Talkwalker [4]. Rights in AI outputs unique to you belong to you and count as your content. **Customer content and outputs are not used to train third-party AI providers** and are not shared with other customers. Beta features fall under separate Beta Terms instead.

The other half matters just as much. The same terms let Hootsuite use customer content and AI outputs to develop and improve its own AI features, during and after the agreement. The chatbot FAQ says the same about inputs and outputs, and adds that the AI provider may store data temporarily under a data processing agreement. One chatbot page says the bot neither trains on nor stores customer data, which the FAQ contradicts. Hootsuite's indemnities and SLA commitments also do not apply to AI functions supplied by third-party providers.

> 💡 **Read the AI Terms before pasting:** Hootsuite may use your content and AI outputs to improve its own AI features. Keep confidential plans and customer data out of prompts.

## A playbook: what to hand to AI and what to keep human

Wisdom is strongest as a fast first draft and a pattern spotter. It is weakest wherever a single wrong word costs money or trust. The limits above draw the line for you: no autonomous publishing, performance analysis built on ten posts, English-only calendar captions and terms that let Hootsuite learn from your content. Here is how we would split the work.

- **Hand over first drafts.** Captions, campaign ideas and briefs in brand voice, once the account has 30 recent posts worth learning from.
- **Hand over image options.** Ask for several aspect ratios at once, and accept that every image is marked as AI-generated.
- **Hand over the first read of performance.** Let Wisdom spot patterns, then check the numbers in Hootsuite Analytics, since it ignores clicks and middle posts.
- **Keep publishing human.** Wisdom cannot publish anyway; keep the same rule for the Parliament connector by always setting a schedule.
- **Keep non-English captions human.** Calendar captions are English-only.
- **Keep customer replies human until the bot is proven.** Start the chatbot on narrow, well-documented questions with a clear escalation path.
- **Keep sensitive content out.** Assume anything you paste may improve Hootsuite's own AI under its terms.

## FAQ

**What is Hootsuite Wisdom?**

Wisdom is Hootsuite's AI assistant across the Social OS. It replaced OwlyGPT, OwlyWriter AI, Yeti and Blue Silk AI, and it drafts posts, images, briefs and campaign ideas and answers performance questions.

**Is Hootsuite AI included in every plan?**

Yes. Wisdom is included in every plan, starting with Standard at $99 per user a month billed annually. The inbox chatbot, smart replies and AI classifiers need Enterprise with Advanced Inbox.

**Can Hootsuite Wisdom publish posts automatically?**

No. Wisdom drafts and suggests, but people review, approve and publish. The Perch MCP server cannot publish or schedule either, according to the developer reference, but a share sent through the Parliament MCP connector without a schedule goes live at once.

**Does Hootsuite use my data to train AI?**

Its AI Terms say customer content and outputs are not used to train third-party AI providers. The same terms let Hootsuite use them to improve its own AI features.

**Which AI tools can connect to Hootsuite through MCP?**

Claude and ChatGPT connect through pre-built connectors. Gemini and Microsoft Copilot users must pass the server URL to an IT administrator.

**What does Hootsuite LLM Insights do?**

It monitors how ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude and Perplexity describe your brand and competitors. It is a Lumen add-on for Enterprise and for customers still on the legacy Business plan, priced through a demo request.

## The bottom line

Hootsuite's AI is useful and widely available, but it is not an autopilot. Wisdom is included on every plan from $99 per user a month billed annually, drafts in your brand voice, makes marked images and answers performance questions, within clear limits on posts, networks and language. The inbox chatbot, smart replies, classifiers and LLM Insights are Enterprise or add-on territory. The MCP connectors are promising for drafting and triage, yet come without a warranty or a published plan list. Hand Wisdom the drafts and the first look at data, and keep publishing, replies and sensitive material in human hands.
