# Is Avoma Free? The Trial, Free Viewers and the Cheapest Paid Plan

> Avoma has no free recording plan: a 14-day trial with all add-ons, no card, free viewers, then Startup at $19 per recorder seat a month billed annually.

No. Avoma has no free plan for recording meetings, and the sign-up-for-free buttons across its site start a trial, not a permanent tier. New accounts get a 14-day free trial of the Organization plan with every add-on switched on and no credit card.[1] Separately, people who only watch recordings, read notes and comment cost nothing on any paid account, in any number. When the trial ends, the account drops to a viewer role that keeps past recordings but cannot record.

The cheapest way to keep recording is Startup at $19 per recorder seat per month billed annually, or $29 per recorder seat per month billed monthly. Our read: Avoma is free to evaluate and free to read, never free to record. A solo user hunting for a no-cost note taker belongs with a rival that keeps a free tier. A revenue team where a few people record and many people review gets real value from the free viewer seats.

**14 days** — Avoma's free trial of the Organization plan with all add-ons and no credit card; there is no free recording plan.

- **14 days** — Free trial of Avoma Organization with all add-ons, no credit card
- **$0** — Cost of an Avoma viewer who watches, reads notes and comments on a paid account
- **$19** — Avoma Startup per recorder seat per month billed annually ($29 per recorder seat per month billed monthly)

## What the sign-up button actually starts

Every new account opens on a 14-day trial with full access to the Organization plan, and Avoma enables all three add-ons for it: Conversation Intelligence, Revenue Intelligence and the Lead Router. The trial therefore mixes two kinds of extras. Translation, custom note templates and API access are Organization features that Startup does not include. AI scorecards need the Conversation Intelligence add-on, and deal risk and forecasting need the Revenue Intelligence add-on, on any plan. No payment details are needed to start. Nothing is charged automatically on day 14 either.

Headcount is open during the evaluation, so you can invite the whole team as recorders and viewers. Zoom recording works on active trials, but since October 2026 Avoma records Zoom meetings only when Zoom itself is connected to Avoma, and a calendar connection alone is not enough. When another company hosts the Zoom meeting, the Avoma Assistant joins only if someone from your organization with Zoom connected is in it. Connect Zoom on day one. If two weeks feels short, Avoma's pricing FAQ says you can email help@avoma.com to ask for a longer trial. Ask early. An extension is a request rather than a promise, and Avoma's Terms let it end an evaluation at any time.

> 💡 **Invite your reviewers during the trial:** Add managers and colleagues who will only watch calls as free users while the trial runs, so you count recorder seats from real usage before buying any.

## Free seats for people who never press record

Avoma charges only for **recorder seats**, the paid license for anyone who records, transcribes and analyzes their own meetings. Everyone else joins as a free user, with no limit on how many. A free user can watch or listen to recordings, read AI notes and transcripts, leave comments and share meetings, but cannot record a meeting of their own.[2] New members land on this free seat type by default until an admin assigns a paid one. Only admins buy, remove and assign seats.

The free seat stops short in places that matter to revenue teams. Dialer integrations such as Outreach analyze calls only for members holding a paid recorder seat, so an SDR who lives on the phone cannot stay free. Avoma's Zapier help page says meeting data of users without a paid plan is not available through Zapier, and Salesforce sync needs recorder licenses because CRM sync requires a paid subscription. People outside your company who receive a shared meeting open it through an email link and a one-time access code sent to their address.

> ⚠ **Annual seats stay paid until renewal:** Avoma applies seat removals and downgrades at the next billing cycle and typically gives no refunds or credits mid-subscription.

## Day 15: the account turns into a viewer

When the 14 days run out without a purchase, Avoma switches the account to a viewer role. Recordings, notes and transcripts captured during the trial remain accessible, so the evaluation work is not lost.[3] Capture is what stops. No new meeting is recorded or transcribed until someone buys a paid plan, and Avoma's Terms say a customer must pick a payment plan once a free trial is over. Payment runs by credit card, ACH bank transfer or invoice, with card customers billed in advance.

The quieter loss is everything the trial borrowed from higher tiers. Scorecards, coaching and Global Ask Avoma came from the Conversation Intelligence add-on, and forecasting from the Revenue Intelligence add-on, each charged per seat per month once you pay. Buy Startup instead of Organization and API access, webhooks, translation and custom templates disappear too, along with group, round-robin and embedded scheduling unless you add the Lead Router add-on; 1:1 scheduling links stay on every paid plan. Write down which trial features your team actually used before day 14. Then price only those.

> ⚠ **Startup drops trial features:** The trial runs Avoma Organization with all add-ons; Startup has no API, webhooks, translation or custom templates, and no group, round-robin or embedded scheduling without the Lead Router add-on; 1:1 scheduling links stay on every paid plan.

## The cheapest way to keep recording

Paid plans start at $19 per recorder seat per month, billed annually, on Startup, which covers up to 25 recorders. By our arithmetic that is $228 per recorder seat a year paid upfront, against $348 per recorder seat a year on Startup billed monthly. Monthly billing wins only on short stays. By our arithmetic, seven months of one Startup recorder seat at $29 per recorder seat per month billed monthly come to $203, below the $228 per recorder seat a year billed annually, while eight months billed monthly reach $232. If you might stop within seven months, start monthly; any longer and annual is cheaper.

Billing terms bite harder than the sticker. Seats added mid-cycle are prorated and billed immediately, but removals and downgrades take effect only at the next billing cycle, and Avoma typically gives no refunds or credits mid-subscription. An annual seat bought for someone who leaves in month three stays paid until renewal. Every recorder must sit on the same plan, so one person who needs Organization features moves the whole recording team up. Startup also lists an optional $1,000 one-time onboarding fee with an Avoma expert, which Organization includes.

Free viewers are where the plan earns its keep. Five Startup recorder seats at $19 per recorder seat per month billed annually, plus twenty free viewers, come to $1,140 a year by our arithmetic, and the twenty viewers add nothing to that figure. A sales manager, a product lead and a support head can all read the same calls without a paid seat. The plan matrix, add-on prices and the Organization math sit in [our Avoma pricing guide](/articles/avoma-pricing).

> 💡 **Buy add-on seats only where used:** Avoma assigns its intelligence add-ons per person and bills them per seat per month, so give them only to the people who relied on scorecards or forecasting in the trial.

## Rivals that do keep a free tier

If the goal is to record at zero cost, several note takers in this category answer differently. Fathom Free offers unlimited recordings, storage and transcription, with advanced summaries limited to the first five calls a month; [our Fathom pricing guide](/articles/fathom-pricing) covers its fine print. Otter Basic gives each user 300 transcription minutes a month, capped at 30 minutes per conversation. Read AI Free allows five meeting reports a month and meetings up to one hour, a ceiling a sales team running hour-long demos will hit quickly.

Fireflies Free has no time limit but caps storage at 400 minutes per team. Accounts created since September 2026 get 3 to 10 transcription credits at sign-up, and turning on calendar auto-join lets bot meetings be transcribed without using those credits. Granola Basic is free with unlimited meetings and a 30-day history, though Granola records no audio and sends no bot, so there is nothing to replay. Krisp has no free Meeting AI plan, only a 7-day trial without a card. Otter's Business trial lasts 7 days, needs a credit card and converts to the monthly Business rate unless canceled. Otter advertises no Pro trial.

The people who only watch are where Avoma pulls ahead. On Fireflies, Read AI, Krisp and Granola, every member added to a paid workspace is a paid seat. By our arithmetic, putting all 25 people from the example above into paid seats billed annually would bring Fireflies Pro to $3,000 a year and Read AI Pro to $4,500 a year, at each plan's per-seat annual rate. Fathom recordings can be shared with people who have no Fathom account, which narrows that gap. Free tiers suit individuals. Free viewers suit teams where few record and many review, as [our Avoma alternatives roundup](/articles/avoma-alternatives) shows across the field.

## FAQ

**What happens to our Avoma data if we cancel a paid subscription?**

Avoma's Terms give the customer 30 days after termination to export its content, and Avoma returns or deletes customer personal data within 30 days, though it may keep backup copies.

**What if we invite more people than we have Avoma recorder seats?**

The plan does not upgrade on its own; once the seat limit is reached, new people are added as free viewers until an admin buys more seats or moves to a higher plan.

**Does Avoma offer any discount besides annual billing?**

Avoma's help center says bundling two add-ons takes 10% off and all three takes 15% off, applied to the add-on fees only, not the base plan.

**Does freeing an Avoma recorder seat delete that person's recordings?**

No. Deactivating a user frees their license, and their recordings stay with the organization, where an admin can reassign them.

## The bottom line

Avoma is free in two narrow senses: a 14-day trial of Organization with every add-on and no card, and free view-only seats for colleagues on a paid account. Recording itself is never free. After the trial the account keeps its history and stops capturing, and the cheapest route back is Startup billed annually. Run the trial on real customer calls, invite the reviewers as free users, and note which add-on features earned their keep. Anyone who wants a note taker that costs nothing should start with a rival's free tier instead.
