# Is SavvyCal Free? Free Polls and Overlay, Paid Booking Links

> Is SavvyCal free? The account, meeting polls and calendar overlay cost nothing, but booking links need Basic at $10 per user a month billed annually.

**$10** — Basic per user a month, billed annually: the cheapest way to activate SavvyCal links ($12 billed monthly).

- **Free polls** — no ads, no credit card
- **30 days** — full refund instead of a trial
- **25% off** — students, educators, non-profits

## The short answer: free to start, paid to be booked

SavvyCal is not free in the way most people mean. Not quite. You can create an account without paying, connect your calendars, build your scheduling links and run meeting polls at no cost. **But nobody can book time with you through those links until you buy a plan.** The pricing page puts it plainly: sign up for free, get your account ready, and upgrade when you want to activate links for others to use [1]. There is no free scheduling plan and no time-limited trial.

What SavvyCal offers instead is a 30-day money-back guarantee on paid plans, a 25% discount for students, educators and non-profits, and a set of genuinely free features for people who mostly book on other people's links. The cheapest way to be bookable is Basic, at $12 per user a month billed monthly or $10 billed annually. If you need a free booking link and nothing else, several rivals offer one, and we cover them below. For the full plan breakdown, see our [SavvyCal pricing guide](/articles/savvycal-pricing).

## What a free account can actually do

A free SavvyCal account is more than a placeholder. You can sign up, connect your calendars and set up as many links as you like, with availability, durations, buffers and questions configured the way you want them. The account simply sits in a free state until you upgrade. That makes it a reasonable place to build and preview your setup before spending anything, because the work carries over when you pay. Even the developer API treats free as a real account level, next to Basic and Premium.

### Overlaying your calendar on other people's links

The most useful free feature is the one SavvyCal is known for. When someone sends you a SavvyCal link, you can overlay your own calendar on their availability and pick a time that fits both weeks, instead of switching between tabs. A free account lets you do this on every SavvyCal link you receive. If you book a lot of calls with consultants, founders or recruiters who already use SavvyCal, this alone may be all you need. It costs nothing. It does not expire.

### Sharing availability and being a guest

Free users can also take part in other people's scheduling. Someone on a paid plan can invite you to share your availability, so your free and busy times count on their collective links, and you can be added to meetings as a guest. You can revoke shared availability at any time from your People page. What you cannot do on a free account is organize: creating links that others book, acting as the organizer on someone else's link and joining a round robin pool all require a paid account [88].

> 💡 **Build everything before you pay:** Set up links, availability and questions on the free account first. When you subscribe, the 30-day refund window starts, so use it for real bookings rather than setup.

## Meeting polls are free

Meeting polls are the one scheduling tool you can send out without paying. A poll proposes several time slots to a group and collects votes, and anyone with the poll link can vote, in their own time zone. SavvyCal stresses that polls are free, carry no ads and need no credit card. You can add teammates when you create a poll so that times when they are likely free are suggested, edit the slots after publishing, and let voters change their answers. You can also let voters see who chose which times, which helps a group settle faster.

For a club, a volunteer group or a small team that mostly needs to find one time for a group meeting, polls cover the job without a subscription. They are not a booking page, though. A poll asks people to vote on times you chose and leaves the final decision to you; it does not let a client pick a slot and land on your calendar on their own. If that is what you need, you are back to a paid plan. Polls are a workaround, not a booking page. Polls do sit on the paid plans too, and a poll can even be served on a custom domain once you are on Premium.

## What needs a paid plan

The line between free and paid is easy to state. **Anything that makes you bookable by others needs a seat.** That covers activating your own scheduling links, being the organizer when a teammate adds you to a link, and being one of the people a round robin link can assign. It also covers every feature that only matters once people are booking: workflows that send reminders, Zapier, the CRM integrations, the API and webhooks are all listed under the paid plans.

Teams follow the same rule. Creating a team costs nothing extra, but every teammate you invite is charged as a seat to the organization that owns the team, and seats are removed when people leave. Someone who belongs to several teams under one organization is charged once. Team members get the paid features of the account that invited them, but they need a subscription of their own to create teams of their own. For a team, the real question is not whether SavvyCal is free but how many people need active links. Count them first.

> ⚠ **Every teammate is a paid seat:** Creating a team is free, but each person you invite is charged as a seat, and only paid users can organize links or join a round robin pool.

## What Basic costs, monthly and annually

Basic is the cheapest way to activate links. It includes unlimited links, meeting polls, calendar connections and teams; collective, round robin and group modes; reminders and workflows, conferencing and CRM integrations, Zapier, the API and webhooks; and ranked availability, time blocks and frequency limits. Premium adds custom domains, sending emails from your own domain, branding removal, an assistant with delegated access and paid bookings through Stripe.

| Plan | Billed monthly | Billed annually | One year, annual billing |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| Basic | $12 per user a month | $10 per user a month | $120 per user |
| Premium | $20 per user a month | $17 per user a month | $204 per user |

On monthly billing, a year of Basic comes to $144 per user, so the annual plan saves $24, which matches the two free months the pricing page advertises, by our arithmetic. For a three-person team, Basic costs $360 a year billed annually or $432 billed monthly. Paying monthly costs more over a year but keeps your exit cheap, which matters if you are unsure the product fits. Prices are in US dollars, with sales tax added where required, and subscriptions renew automatically for the same period unless you cancel before the term ends.

## No trial, but a 30-day refund

SavvyCal does not run a trial period. The pricing FAQ answers the trial question by pointing to the free account and the free polls, and then to the refund: if you are not happy, you can ask for your money back in the first 30 days, no questions asked. The Terms, updated in January 2026, confirm a full refund when you cancel within 30 days of starting a subscription; after that, any refund is partial or full at SavvyCal's discretion [3].

In practice the refund works like a paid trial. You pay up front, use every feature for up to a month, and get the money back if it does not fit. That is a better deal on monthly billing than it looks, since the risk is $12 per user. On annual billing the guarantee covers the larger payment too, but only for the same 30 days. Set a reminder. **The window is counted from the start of the subscription**, not from the first booking.

### What happens when you cancel

You can cancel from the Billing page under Settings or by emailing support. The subscription stays active until the end of the period you paid for. After that, your links are deactivated but your data is kept, as long as you do not delete the account, and you can reactivate later. You also drop back to the free features: you can still overlay your calendar on other people's links and keep using meeting polls. Deleting the account is permanent. Cancel rather than delete if you might return.

> 💡 **Pay monthly for the first month:** Monthly Basic keeps the risk at $12 per user while you test. Switch to annual billing, which saves two months, once you know it fits.

## The 25% discount for education and non-profits

The other way to pay less is a discount that the pricing page mentions only in its FAQ. Students, educators and non-profits can save 25%, and the page asks you to contact the support team to claim it. There is no self-serve checkout option for it. Ask before you subscribe. If support applies the cut to an annual Basic seat, that seat would cost $90 a year instead of $120, by our arithmetic. SavvyCal's education page targets office hours, admissions calls and tutoring, so teachers and student services offices are the obvious candidates.

## Cheaper paths if you need a free plan

If you need a booking link that costs nothing at all, SavvyCal is the wrong tool. Several rivals offer a permanent free tier instead, and each one draws its line in a different place: some cap you at one meeting type, some at one calendar, some leave out reminders or team scheduling. The details below come from each rival's own pricing canon, not from SavvyCal's comparison pages. Read the limits closely. A free plan that drops reminders can cost more in no-shows than a paid seat.

### Calendly

Calendly's free plan is free forever for one user, with one event type, one connected calendar, unlimited one-on-one meetings, a customizable booking page, the mobile app and the browser extension. New accounts start with a 14-day period of paid features and then drop to the free plan. It has no group, collective or round robin events and no automated reminders. A solo user with one kind of meeting can live on it.

### Cal.com

Cal.com's free plan is free forever for one user, with unlimited event types, calendars and bookings, email notifications, more than 100 apps, the mobile app, Stripe and PayPal payments and two-way Salesforce and HubSpot sync. It leaves out team scheduling such as round robin and collective events, keeps Cal.com branding on the page and limits workflows to the default reminder email. Of the free plans here, it is the most generous for a single person.

### TidyCal, Setmore and YouCanBookMe

TidyCal's free plan is permanent, with unlimited bookings and booking types, paid bookings through Stripe or PayPal and one calendar connection, but no group bookings, booking limits or approvals. Setmore's free plan covers up to four users with unlimited appointments, one email reminder per booking, apps for phones and desktops and round-the-clock human support, but no SMS or two-way calendar sync. YouCanBookMe's free plan gives one calendar connection and one booking page, with meeting polls and single-use links, but no reminders and a footer button marking it as free.

None of these free plans matches SavvyCal's mix of calendar overlay, ranked availability and personalized links, and that is the honest trade. YouCanBookMe added an overlay of the booker's own calendar in May 2026, though its free plan still sends no reminders. A free plan elsewhere gets you bookable today. SavvyCal charges for the experience your recipients get. Decide which matters more to you.

## Which path to take

Start with what you need others to do. If you only book on other people's SavvyCal links, or you need to find one time for a group, the free account and meeting polls are enough, and you never have to pay. If clients, candidates or prospects need to book you, you need Basic, and the sensible move is to build your links on the free account first, then subscribe monthly and use the 30-day refund as your test. Switch to annual billing once you are sure. If a free booking page is a hard requirement, pick one of the rivals above instead.

## FAQ

**Is SavvyCal free?**

Partly. The account, meeting polls and the calendar overlay on other people's links are free, but activating your own scheduling links needs a paid plan.

**Does SavvyCal have a trial?**

No. SavvyCal offers a free account for setup and a 30-day full refund on paid plans instead of a trial period.

**How much is SavvyCal Basic?**

$12 per user a month billed monthly, or $10 per user a month billed annually, which is $120 per user a year.

**Are SavvyCal meeting polls free?**

Yes. Meeting polls are free, ad-free and need no credit card, and anyone with the poll link can vote.

**Does SavvyCal offer discounts?**

Annual billing gives two months free, and students, educators and non-profits can save 25% by contacting support.

**What happens to my links if I cancel?**

Your plan runs to the end of the paid period, then links are deactivated but data is kept; you can still overlay your calendar and use meeting polls.

## The bottom line

SavvyCal is free to join, free for meeting polls and free for overlaying your calendar on other people's links, but it is not free for being booked. Activating your own links takes a paid plan, starting with Basic at $12 per user a month, or $10 billed annually. There is no trial; the 30-day full refund plays that role, and students, educators and non-profits can ask support for 25% off. Build your setup for free, pay when you are ready to share links, and look to Calendly, Cal.com or another rival if a permanently free booking page matters more than the overlay.
