Kit's AI comes in two parts: a subject-line generator inside the editor, and AI Connectors, which let an
outside assistant such as Claude or ChatGPT work in your Kit account. Kit frames its approach in one
line on its AI page: how you use AI "should be up to you" [12]. This page sets out what each part does,
what it costs, and what it does not do, from Kit's pages read on 9 October 2026.

## The short answer

- **AI subject lines:** five suggestions generated from a broadcast's content, in the broadcast editor
  [55].
- **AI Connectors:** 83 tools that let an MCP-compatible assistant read and change your account, on
Creator and Pro; on Free you can connect and browse, but tools show an upgrade prompt [39] [40].
- **Not published:** the model behind the subject-line generator, any usage limit, and an in-editor
writing assistant in the plan table.

> 💡 **undefined:** Start with read-only questions before approving changes.

## The subject-line generator

You write the broadcast first, then click the sparkle icon beside the subject field. Kit reads the
content and offers five subject lines; you pick one or ask for new suggestions [55]. If the email is
too short, the generator asks for more content first [55]. It works for broadcasts only, "not
Sequences" [55].

That is a narrow feature, and a sensible one. Subject lines are the part of an email most writers
rewrite most often, and the one A/B tests measure: Creator tests two subject-line variants, Pro up to
five [3]. Generating options and testing them is a reasonable loop.

## AI Connectors: what they are

AI Connectors run on the Model Context Protocol, an open standard for connecting assistants to outside
services. Once connected, "Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, and other MCP-compatible AI assistants can read your
Kit account and take actions on your behalf" [39]. You ask in plain language; the assistant calls
Kit's tools.

Kit lists 83 tools across twelve groups: prompts, account, subscribers, tags, segments, custom fields,
forms, broadcasts, email templates, products, purchases and webhooks [40]. Among them, an assistant
can create subscribers in bulk, tag and untag them, build a landing page, write and update sequence
emails, draft and schedule broadcasts, read link-click statistics, create products and read purchases.

> ⚠ **undefined:** Destructive tools can remove or overwrite data.

## Safety annotations

Every tool carries annotations that the AI client uses to decide when to ask before acting [40]:

- **Read-only:** the tool does not change the account.
- **Destructive:** the tool may remove or overwrite data; "Your AI client will ask before running
  these." [40].
- **Idempotent:** running it twice has the same effect as once.
- **Open-world:** it may reach outside systems, such as a webhook URL you supply.

Kit adds a plain warning: AI systems can misunderstand requests, so review proposed changes carefully
before approving them [39]. You can review, pause and revoke access at any time [39].

## Connecting an assistant

Kit's setup article describes a short process: connect the AI tool you already use, authorise the Kit
account, and choose what the assistant may do [39]. You do not need to be a developer [39]. Your
assistant can act only through the Kit tools and account permissions you authorise, and the article
recommends customising the AI tool's own permission settings to match what you want it to do [39].

The first call most assistants make is *list_prompt_suggestions*, which returns Kit's catalogue of
suggested workflows for the account [40]. It is a useful way to see what Kit expects people to ask.

## What the tools reach, group by group

**Subscribers.** Create one or many, update custom fields in bulk, filter, read a subscriber's stats and
tags, and unsubscribe [40].

**Tags and segments.** Create, rename, apply and remove tags in bulk, list subscribers for a tag, and
list segments [40].

**Forms and landing pages.** Add subscribers to forms, list forms and their subscribers, and create or
update landing pages [40].

**Sequences.** Create, update and delete sequences and their emails, and add subscribers to them
[40].

**Broadcasts.** Create, update and delete broadcasts, and read statistics and link clicks for one or
many [40].

**Products and purchases.** List, create and update products, read tax codes, and read purchases
[40].

**Webhooks.** Create, list and delete webhooks, the tools that reach outside Kit [40].

That covers most of what a creator does in Kit's interface, which is why the safety labels matter.

## What it costs

AI Connectors are on all paid plans, Creator and Pro [39]: from $39 a month or $390 a year at up to
1,000 subscribers [3]. On Free you can connect an assistant and see what is available, but running
any tool "will surface an upgrade prompt rather than executing the action" [39]. The subject-line
generator is not tied to a plan in the pages we read.

## Three things an assistant can do in Kit

**Clean up tags.** *Find subscribers tagged both lead-magnet-a and lead-magnet-b, remove the older tag, and tell me how many changed.* The assistant uses list and tag tools; removing tags is flagged as a
change for you to approve [40].

**Draft a sequence.** *Create a five-email welcome sequence from my last three broadcasts.* The
assistant reads broadcasts and creates sequence emails, which you then edit in Kit [40].

**Report.** *Which of last month's broadcasts had the most link clicks, and on which links?* Read-only
statistics tools answer without changing anything [40].

## What Kit AI does not do

- **It does not choose your content.** The generator suggests subject lines; the assistant acts on your
  instructions.
- **It does not publish limits.** We found no usage cap or credit system in Kit's pages.
- **It does not name a model** for the subject-line generator.
- **It does not remove your responsibility for consent.** Bulk-creating subscribers through an assistant
is still subject to Kit's rules on permission-based lists [21].

## Kit against beehiiv on AI

beehiiv offers in-editor writing, tone, translation and image tools from its first paid plan, an MCP with
read access on Free and write access from Lite, and data commitments only on Enterprise. Kit offers a
narrower in-editor feature but a published, annotated tool list with confirmation prompts for destructive
actions [40]. Our AI scores: beehiiv 3.6, Kit 3.5. beehiiv offers more AI; Kit is clearer about what
its AI can touch.

## AI and your data

An assistant connected to Kit can read subscriber data. That makes the assistant's own terms part of
your data protection, alongside Kit's. Kit's transfers of EU, UK and Swiss personal data are covered by
its Data Processing Addendum [61]; how your AI provider handles what it reads is governed by that
provider. For lists with EU subscribers, check that the assistant you connect is covered by your own
data-processing arrangements before you let it read subscriber records.

## Where AI fits in a creator's week

**Monday, planning.** Ask the assistant which broadcasts drove the most clicks last month and which
links readers chose [40].

**Tuesday, writing.** Write the week's broadcast yourself; use the subject-line generator for five
options and pick two to A/B test [55] [3].

**Wednesday, housekeeping.** Ask the assistant to tag readers who clicked a product link, so a follow-up
sequence can reach them; approve the tagging [40].

**Friday, reporting.** Ask for open and click statistics for the week's sends, read-only [40].

Used this way, AI saves the administrative hours around writing rather than replacing the writing.

## Testing what the generator suggests

A subject line is only as good as its open rate, so the generator's value depends on testing. Creator
runs A/B tests on subject lines with two variants; Pro allows up to five variants and adds tests on
email content [3]. A sensible routine is to generate five suggestions, choose the two that differ
most in approach, a question against a plain statement for instance, and test them on Creator. On Pro,
test three or four.

Kit's broader position on AI is set out on its AI page: "Your business is successful because of you, so
how you use AI should be up to you." [12]. The product follows that line. Kit does not write your
emails for you inside the editor; it suggests subject lines and connects the account to whichever
assistant you choose.

## Which plan for which AI user

**A writer who wants subject-line help only.** The generator appears in the broadcast editor; nothing
in the pages we read ties it to a paid plan [55].

**A creator who wants an assistant to manage tags, sequences and reports.** AI Connectors run on Creator
and Pro [39]: $39 a month or $390 a year at up to 1,000 subscribers [3].

**A team that wants to test AI-written content.** Pro, for content A/B tests and up to five subject-line
variants [3].

## Mistakes to avoid with AI Connectors

1. **Approving bulk actions without reading them.** Bulk tagging, bulk unsubscribing and deleting
sequences are destructive tools; read what the assistant proposes before approving [40].
2. **Creating webhooks you do not recognise.** Webhook tools are open-world: they send data to a URL
   [40].
3. **Adding subscribers an assistant found elsewhere.** Bulk creation is still bound by Kit's rule
   against non-permission lists [21].
4. **Forgetting to revoke access** for an assistant you no longer use; Kit lets you pause or revoke it at
   any time [39].

## Free accounts and AI

A free account can connect an assistant and see Kit's tools, which is a fair way to judge whether AI
Connectors would help before paying [39]. Nothing runs until the account is on Creator or Pro.

## AI and the subject-line test, in numbers

If two generated subject lines are tested on a list of 5,000 and one opens two points better, that is 100
more readers of each send. Over fifty weekly broadcasts, about 5,000 more opens a year, from a feature
that costs nothing extra. *Our arithmetic*, on an illustrative lift.

## The verdict on Kit AI

Kit AI is modest inside the editor and capable outside it. The subject-line generator saves a few
minutes per broadcast. AI Connectors, on paid plans, let an assistant you already use handle a large
share of Kit's administration, with clear labels on what each tool can change. For a creator who already
works in Claude or ChatGPT, that is the more useful half.

## Our score

Our AI axis score for Kit is 3.5: a published, annotated tool list that covers most of the account,
confirmation prompts for destructive tools, and plain warnings, held back by a narrow in-editor feature,
no published model or usage limits, and AI Connectors gated to paid plans [39] [40].

## FAQ

**Does Kit work with Claude or ChatGPT?**

Yes, through AI Connectors on Creator and Pro; on Free you can connect but tools show an upgrade prompt.

## How to use it well

1. Connect an assistant on a paid plan, and start with read-only questions.
2. Approve destructive actions one by one until you trust the pattern [40].
3. Keep consent rules in mind for anything that adds subscribers [21].
4. Use the subject-line generator after the email is written, then A/B test two of its suggestions
   [55] [3].
