# Kit (ConvertKit) Pricing: All 45 Bands, and How the Bill Moves

> Kit pricing from the pricing page's own script: Creator $39 and Pro $79 a month at 1,000 subscribers to $2,499 and $2,799 at 500,000, annual at ten months' price, automatic upgrades, an overlapping band, and Kit against beehiiv.

Kit charges by confirmed subscribers, in 45 bands per paid plan. The pricing page shows one band at a
time; the help centre states the entry prices; the complete ladder is in the pricing page's script.
This page brings all three together, with the rules for moving between bands, read on 9 October
2026, in US dollars. "convertkit pricing" is searched 720 times a month in the United States, as is
"convertkit price".

## The short answer

- **Free:** $0 up to 10,000 subscribers.
- **Creator:** $39 a month or $390 a year at up to 1,000 subscribers.
- **Pro:** $79 a month or $790 a year at up to 1,000 subscribers.
- **Annual billing:** twelve months for the price of ten, a saving of 16.7% on every band.

The pricing page headlines Creator at $33 a month: that is $390 a year divided by twelve and rounded
up [2] [4].

> 💡 **undefined:** Prune before crossing a band boundary.

## The full ladder, selected bands

| Up to | Creator monthly | Creator yearly | Pro monthly | Pro yearly | Pro over Creator |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1,000 | $39 | $390 | $79 | $790 | $40 |
| 3,000 | $59 | $590 | $99 | $990 | $40 |
| 5,000 | $89 | $890 | $139 | $1,390 | $50 |
| 8,000 | $119 | $1,190 | $169 | $1,690 | $50 |
| 10,000 | $139 | $1,390 | $189 | $1,890 | $50 |
| 15,000 | $169 | $1,690 | $249 | $2,490 | $80 |
| 20,000 | $189 | $1,890 | $269 | $2,690 | $80 |
| 25,000 | $199 | $1,990 | $279 | $2,790 | $80 |
| 35,000 | $259 | $2,590 | $363 | $3,630 | $104 |
| 55,000 | $379 | $3,790 | $519 | $5,190 | $140 |
| about 100,000 | $679 | $6,790 | $879 | $8,790 | $200 |
| about 200,000 | $1,279 | $12,790 | $1,579 | $15,790 | $300 |
| 500,000 | $2,499 | $24,990 | $2,799 | $27,990 | $300 |

From the pricing page's script [2]. Above 25,000, both plans rise by roughly $60 a month for every
additional 10,000 subscribers.

## Cost per thousand subscribers

Creator costs $39 per thousand at the first band and $5.00 per thousand at 500,000. *Our arithmetic.*
The steepest fall is early: $19.67 per thousand at 3,000, $13.90 at 10,000, $7.96 at 25,000. Like every
banded price, the cost per subscriber is highest just past a boundary: 1,001 subscribers pay the 3,000
band, $59.

> 💡 **undefined:** Budget Pro's second year at list price.

## Three quirks in the ladder

1. **An overlapping band.** The band from 305,001 to 325,000 starts at the same number as the band
before it on both plans [2]. A list of 310,000 matches two prices in the data.
2. **A larger step at 200,000 on Pro.** Most Pro steps above 85,000 are $60; the step into the band
   around 200,000 is $160 [2].
3. **Two bands for the first thousand.** The script lists 0 to 1,000 and 301 to 1,000 at the same
price; the result is the same for buyers.

None of these changes a typical bill, but they are the kind of detail a vendor should publish in the
open rather than in code.

## How the bill moves

**Up, automatically.** Past a band's limit "we automatically upgrade you to the next tier." [5].
On monthly plans the prorated difference is added to the next bill; on annual plans it is charged
immediately, and the next renewal is at the new band's full annual price [5].

**Worked example, from Kit's help centre.** On 1 October a Creator account pays $39. On 21 October it
reaches 1,001 subscribers and moves to the $59 band. It receives a $12.67 credit for ten unused days at
$39 and a $19.67 charge for ten days at $59. On 1 November it pays $66: $59 plus the $7 difference
[5].

**Down, when you ask.** Kit shows a *Switch to a lower tier* link when your count qualifies; the lower
price starts at the next billing date, provided the count is still below the limit then [4].

> ⚠ **undefined:** There is no setting to stop automatic upgrades.

## What a year costs at common sizes

| List | Creator monthly x 12 | Creator annual | Pro annual |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1,000 | $468 | $390 | $790 |
| 3,000 | $708 | $590 | $990 |
| 10,000 | $1,668 | $1,390 | $1,890 |
| 25,000 | $2,388 | $1,990 | $2,790 |

*Our arithmetic* on the ladder [2]. The annual saving is exactly two months' price at every band.

## Growth across a year, priced

A creator starting at 900 subscribers and adding 400 a month on monthly Creator billing crosses 1,000
in the first month, 3,000 in the sixth, 5,000 in the eleventh. The monthly bill goes $39, $59 from
month one, $89 from month six, $119 from month eleven [2]. *Our arithmetic.* Each step is charged
automatically and prorated [5]; the year totals a little under $1,000 on monthly billing. An annual plan
bought in month one at the 3,000 band, $590, would be topped up with prorated differences at each
crossing [5].

## Prices before and after October 2025

Kit's founder described the change as the "first price increase in 12 years" [10]. Existing
customers moved to the new prices at their first billing date after 15 October 2025 [4]. Kit does
not publish the old ladder next to the new one, and its billing article warns that older reviews may
show lower prices: the pricing page "always has the most current information" [4]. Any price in an
article older than September 2025, including old comparisons with ConvertKit, is likely to be out of
date.

Nonprofit discounts survived the change: if you already had one, it applies to the new price [4].

## Annual or monthly

Annual billing saves two months' price on every band: $78 a year at 1,000 subscribers on Creator,
$278 at 10,000, $1,358 at about 100,000. *Our arithmetic.* An annual plan grown past its band is
charged the prorated difference at once [5]. Switching from annual to monthly requires a request
to support and takes effect when the annual term ends [4].

## The Pro offer in October 2026

The pricing page carried an offer of 25% off the first year of Pro annual for lists up to 65,000
subscribers, and 10% up to 500,000, ending 7 November 2026 [2]. At 1,000 subscribers that made
the first year $593 instead of $790. Budget for the full price in year two.

## What is and is not billed

- **Billed:** confirmed subscribers across the account [4].
- **Not billed separately:** tags, segments, forms, landing pages, broadcasts and every other plan
  feature [4].
- **Not billed:** unconfirmed sign-ups, until they confirm.
- **Charged at checkout on top:** sales tax in many US states, based on the billing address; outside
the US, a VAT number can be added to invoices [4].

## Refunds and price changes

- The billing article: "We have a 30-day refund policy, so if you cancel, you can request any funds paid
in the last 30 days to be refunded in full." [4].
- The Terms of Service: on cancellation before the period ends, "we will not refund any Paid Services
Fees already paid to us" [8].
- Price changes do not reach a current subscription until it renews [8].
- Card changes trigger a temporary $1 verification charge through Stripe [4].
- Sales tax is added in many US states, based on the billing address [4].

## What Kit charges on what you sell

| Revenue | Kit's share |
|---|---|
| Products and subscriptions | 3.5% + 30c, card processing included [2] |
| Sponsorships | 23.5% of ad revenue [32] |
| Paid recommendations | 20% service fee + 3.5% transaction fee [31] |

On a $10 monthly subscription, Kit's fee is $0.65 a charge. On Stripe's standard 2.9% plus $0.30 it
would be $0.59. *Our arithmetic*: the 0.6 points Kit keeps cost six cents on a $10 charge.

## Kit Free against Substack for a paid newsletter

The cheapest way to run a paid newsletter in our measurements is Kit's free plan. It allows
subscriptions up to 10,000 subscribers [6] and charges 3.5% plus 30 cents per sale, card processing
included [2]. Substack keeps 10% and passes on card fees: "Writers keep 90% of their revenue minus
credit card fees." [51].

| Reader pays | Free plan, per charge | Substack, per charge |
|---|---|---|
| $5 a month | $0.48 (9.5%) | $0.50 plus card fees |
| $10 a month | $0.65 (6.5%) | $1.00 plus card fees |
| $50 a year | $2.05 (4.1%) | $5.00 plus card fees |

*Our arithmetic* on both vendors' stated terms. Against Substack's 10% alone, Kit's fee is lower by
only 2.5 cents on a $5 charge: $60 a year for 200 readers. The real gap is the card fee, which Kit's
3.5% already includes and Substack passes on. If Substack's card fees match Stripe's standard 2.9% plus
$0.30, the gap for those 200 readers is about $1,130 a year; that card rate is our assumption, since
Substack's page says only "minus credit card fees". What Kit Free does not include is automation and sequences [6]; what it adds is
nothing to pay until the list passes 10,000.

## Kit against beehiiv, band by band

| List | Kit Creator monthly | beehiiv Lite monthly |
|---|---|---|
| 1,000 | $39 | $59 |
| 2,500 to 3,000 | $59 | $79 |
| 5,000 | $89 | $109 |
| 10,000 | $139 | $139 |
| 25,000 | $199 | $199 |
| about 100,000 | $679 | $469 |

From each vendor's published prices [2] [44]. Kit is cheaper below 10,000 subscribers, level
at 10,000 and 25,000, and more expensive at 100,000, where beehiiv's Lite is $210 a month less.
beehiiv takes no share of subscription revenue; Kit takes 0.6 points above card processing.

## Kit against the rest of the category

| Platform | Entry paid price, monthly billing | Basis |
|---|---|---|
| Kit Creator | $39 | Up to 1,000 subscribers |
| beehiiv Lite | $59 | Up to 1,000 subscribers |
| MailerLite Comfort | $12 | 500 subscribers |
| Brevo Starter | $9 | 5,000 emails a month |

From each vendor's pages [2] [44] [50] [53]. For a list that only receives newsletters,
MailerLite and Brevo are far cheaper. Kit's price buys automation built around selling.

## When Pro is worth $40 to $300 a month more

Pro's additions are team and analytics features [3]:

- unlimited team members instead of two;
- collaborative editing of broadcasts in real time;
- A/B tests on content, with up to five subject-line variants instead of two;
- deliverability reporting by mailbox provider;
- engagement scoring of every subscriber from one to five stars;
- Facebook Custom Audiences sync;
- a referral system through SparkLoop;
- an insights dashboard and Subscriber Signals.

At 1,000 subscribers the step is $40 a month; at 10,000, $50; at about 100,000, $200 [2]. A solo
creator rarely needs Pro. A team of three or more does, for seats alone.
