Krisp is worth paying for if your calls suffer from noise, background voices or hard-to-follow accents and you also want meeting notes from the same install. It is a weaker buy if notes are all you need. Krisp is two products in one desktop app for Mac and Windows. The first is a real-time audio layer: two-way noise cancellation, voice isolation, echo cancellation and accent conversion inside almost any calling app. The second is an AI note taker that records and transcribes **without a bot by default**. There is no free Meeting AI plan, only a 7-day trial with no credit card. Core costs $8 per user per month billed annually, or $16 per user per month billed monthly.

**3.9 / 5** — Our Toolkit Score for Krisp: rare audio cleanup plus solid notes, held back by no free plan.

- **7 days** — Free trial, no credit card
- **$8** — Core, per user per month, billed annually
- **16** — Languages for transcripts and summaries (16+ on Krisp's pricing page)

## Two products hiding in one install

Installing Krisp adds two virtual audio devices, Krisp Microphone and Krisp Speaker, that sit between your headset and Zoom, Teams, Meet or any other calling app. You pick your real microphone and speaker inside Krisp, then choose the Krisp devices in the calling app. Everything follows from that spot in the audio path. Because Krisp hears both sides of the call, it can clean sound in both directions and capture the meeting for notes without sending anyone into the room. The seller is Krisp Technologies, Inc., based in Berkeley, California, which says it was founded in 2017.

Krisp sells three product lines, and older pages blur them. This review covers the one its pricing page calls Meeting AI, sold as Core, Advanced and Enterprise. Call Center AI is a separate product priced per agent, and Krisp for Developers sells SDKs and APIs. The noise suppression inside Discord is also Krisp technology, free there, but it is Discord's feature and cleans only your own microphone. It writes no notes.

## The audio layer earns most of the money

Noise cancellation is the strongest part of the product, and it runs on your device; Krisp says the audio is never sent to or stored on its servers. Outbound cleaning strips the barking dog from what others hear. Inbound cleaning, through Krisp Speaker, strips noise from what you hear. **Voice isolation** goes further and removes nearby human voices, which ordinary suppression lets through. It needs a compatible headset, works best with a USB headset and a boom mic, and gives weaker results over Bluetooth. Echo cancellation is on by default. Krisp says it works with 800+ apps (August 2026).

The limits come from the same design. Noise cancellation works only when Krisp Microphone and Krisp Speaker are selected in the calling app, and only in the Mac and Windows desktop app. Linux and Chrome OS are out. In browsers, Krisp Speaker cannot be used in Firefox or Safari. Krisp also advises turning down the calling app's own filter, setting Zoom's background noise removal to Low, for instance, so two filters do not fight over your voice. The mobile apps are for recording, notes and transcription; noise cancellation for your calls runs on the desktop.

Accent conversion is the feature most note takers never touch. The speaker side changes how you sound to everyone; the listener side adapts other people's speech for you alone. One model converts any accent to US English, so you choose no source accent, and it does not work offline. Hours are capped by plan: Core allows 1 hour per day, which Krisp's help says is shared between both sides, while Advanced allows 4 hours per day on the speaker side and unlimited listener-side use [1]. Enterprise is custom. Krisp does not publish what happens at the cap.

> 💡 **Turn down the calling app's filter:** Krisp's help advises setting Zoom's background noise removal to Low and switching off Teams noise suppression, so two filters do not suppress your voice together.

## Notes without a stranger in the participant list

The AI Note Taker captures meetings at the audio level on your computer, so nothing joins the call by default. You set it to Transcribe only, Audio Recording, Screen Recording or Off, and no host permission is needed. For video there is the optional Krisp Bot, which joins Zoom, Google Meet or Microsoft Teams only when you send or invite it, and the host must admit it. Watch one detail. Adding assistant@krisp.ai to a calendar invite makes the bot join even when you are absent. The iOS and Android apps record in-person meetings, upload files and send the bot.

After each call Krisp writes key points and action items, and you can rerun a summary with one of 11 starter templates or your own. AI Chat answers questions across your meetings. Transcripts and summaries come in 16 languages (Krisp's pricing page says «16+»), and custom vocabulary holds up to 750 words for the whole workspace. Uploads take files up to 1 GB and 4 hours, one at a time. Exports stay plain. Transcripts leave as .txt with timestamps and speakers, recordings as MP3, and Krisp documents no PDF or DOCX export.

Integrations are generous on the entry plan. HubSpot, Pipedrive, Affinity, Slack, Notion, Zapier, Microsoft Teams, Make (the automation platform), MCP for Claude, ChatGPT and Cursor, the public API and personal webhooks all start on Core. Salesforce and ConnectWise start on Advanced, along with manager view, commenting, company deal grouping, team-level webhooks and admin controls such as disabling auto-share for the team. A sales team that lives in Salesforce therefore starts at Advanced.

| Krisp Meeting AI plan | Annual billing | Monthly billing | Storage per user |
|---|---|---|---|
| Free Trial | $0 for 7 days | $0 for 7 days | — |
| Core | $8 per user per month, billed annually | $16 per user per month, billed monthly | 10 GB |
| Advanced | $15 per user per month, billed annually | $30 per user per month, billed monthly | 60 GB |
| Enterprise | Custom pricing | Custom pricing | Unlimited |

These figures come from Krisp's pricing page in November 2026 [2]. The Core rate of $8 per user per month and the Advanced rate of $15 per user per month apply only to annual billing; Krisp labels annual billing «Save 50%», and billed annually Core and Advanced cost half the monthly rate, which checks out on both plans. By our arithmetic, Core costs $96 per user a year billed annually or $192 per user a year billed monthly, and five people on Core pay $480 a year billed annually, $96 per user.

Monthly billing wins only if you stop within 5 months: by our arithmetic, five months of Core come to $80 per user billed monthly, against $96 per user for a year billed annually, and month six ties it. Stepping up from Core to Advanced adds $7 per user per month billed annually, or $84 per user a year billed annually, by our arithmetic.

The trial unlocks the paid features for 7 days without a card. Under Krisp's Terms of Use (March 2026), access ends when the trial expires unless you subscribe, and you keep 90 days to export your content [3]. Every teammate added to the team is a paid seat, and inviting someone when no seat is empty charges the card at once. Fees are non-refundable except as the Terms state, and a yearly plan cannot be switched to monthly from the account. Canceling keeps paid features to the end of the cycle. Our [Krisp pricing guide](/articles/krisp-pricing) runs larger teams, and our [guide to the Krisp trial](/articles/is-krisp-free) covers what ends and when.

Storage needs a little planning. It is per user and not pooled, so one light user's spare gigabytes cannot rescue a heavy one. Above 100% of the allowance, new recordings are not saved until an admin buys more, and Krisp does not publish storage add-on prices. Deleted meetings sit in Trash for 30 days and still count. Teams that record screens or video should watch their usage during the trial.

> ⚠ **Storage is per user, not pooled:** Core gives each user 10 GB and Advanced 60 GB; above 100% new recordings are not saved until an admin buys more storage, and Krisp does not publish add-on prices.

## Is Krisp safe to leave running on every call?

Safety splits in two. The audio layer is the easy half, because noise cancellation never leaves your device. Meeting content reaches Krisp's cloud only when you use notes, recording, the mobile app or an integration, and it is encrypted in transit and at rest with AES-256. Summaries and AI Chat run on Anthropic Claude through AWS Bedrock. Krisp says your meeting data is never used to train Krisp's AI models (pricing FAQ, November 2026). SOC 2 Type II and GDPR are listed on every plan, though access to the SOC 2 report is an Enterprise item.

Regulated buyers need the plan gate. Krisp says it complies with HIPAA; its pricing matrix lists HIPAA compliance on Enterprise only, and BAA signing is available for teams of 100 or more seats. SSO and SCIM are Enterprise as well. Recording consent is your job under the Terms, and some platforms block Krisp's participant notice, so tell people another way. One admin trap stands out: removing a user from a team permanently deletes that user's data, including recordings [4]. Export first.

> 💡 **Export before removing a teammate:** Removing a user from a Krisp team permanently deletes that user's data, including recordings, so download what you need first.

## How we score Krisp

**Our scorecard — 3.9/5**
- Capability & depth: 4.0/5 — Krisp covers the meeting-notes job with more capture routes than most of the category: bot-free capture by default on the Mac and Windows desktop app, at the audio level through the Krisp Microphone and Krisp Speaker virtual devices, so it works in almost any calling app that lets you choose a microphone and speaker (Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Google Meet, Slack Huddles and others), for host or guest, with no host permission; an optional Krisp Bot that joins Zoom, Google Meet or Microsoft Teams only when you send or invite it (assistant@krisp.ai on an invite makes it join even without you; the host must admit it) to record video; four Note Taker modes (Transcribe only, Audio Recording, Screen Recording, Off); in-person meetings on the iOS and Android apps; outgoing phone calls to US numbers with call recording from the mobile app; uploads of audio and video files (one at a time, up to 1 GB and 4 hours each; AAC, MP3, M4A, WAV, WMA, MP4, MOV, MPEG, WMV); and a Chrome extension that captures Google Meet without a bot. Transcription, recording, noise cancellation and AI notes are unlimited on Core in the pricing matrix, recordings run up to 4 hours each, and the audio layer adds two-way noise cancellation, voice isolation and echo cancellation that clean what is captured. Held back by transcripts and summaries in 16 languages (the pricing page says 16+), storage capped per user and not pooled (10 GB on Core, 60 GB on Advanced, unlimited only on Enterprise; above 100% new recordings are not saved until an admin buys more), exports limited to MP3 recordings and .txt transcripts (no PDF or DOCX documented, no transcript editing documented in help), no Linux or Chrome OS desktop app, mobile apps that cannot record Google Meet, a Krisp Bot limited to three platforms that joins one meeting at a time when invited from the app, and commenting, manager view and company deal grouping only from Advanced.
- AI: 4.0/5 — Every paid plan (from Core) gets automatic AI summaries after each call (Key Points, the top 10, and action items), an Outline (detailed summary) on request, 11 starter templates (Auto, Outline, Meeting Minutes, Project Sync, Weekly Team Meeting, 1 to 1, Client Status Update, Training, Sales Call/Demo, Hiring, All Hands) that can be duplicated into your own templates, Centralized Action Items with assignees, priority and due dates, AI Chat that answers questions about one meeting or across your meetings, auto agenda, a recurring meeting view, a 750-word workspace custom vocabulary and notes written in a chosen language. A hosted MCP server (Core and up) connects Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, Claude Code, VS Code and custom clients, with read tools and write tools such as create_action_item, attach_tag, update_meeting, import_recording and create_folder. Krisp says summaries and AI Chat run on Anthropic Claude through AWS Bedrock, sending only what a summary needs, and that meeting data is never used to train Krisp's AI models (November 2026); Krisp says its transcription is 96% accurate (November 2026). Accent conversion (Core 1 hour per day; Advanced 4 hours per day on the speaker side and unlimited on the listener side; Meeting AI output US English) is AI on the audio layer, not on the notes. Held back by an AI layer centred on notes, action items and chat: starter templates cannot be edited, transcripts in 16 languages only, a transcript can be regenerated in another language only when an audio recording exists, MCP fetches at most 50 meetings at once and assigning an action item through MCP does not notify the assignee, and Krisp's Terms advise verifying AI outputs independently.
- Integrations: 4.0/5 — Core (from $8 per user per month billed annually, or $16 per user per month billed monthly) already includes Slack (post notes to a channel, auto-post for recurring meetings), Notion, Microsoft Teams channels, HubSpot (notes to a Contact, Company or Deal), Pipedrive (Contact, Organization or Deal), Affinity (Key Points and Action Items as a note on a Person or Organization, via an API token), Zapier (six triggers; Krisp says 7,000+ apps via Zapier), Make (the automation platform; five triggers), the hosted MCP server, a public Meeting Assistant API (meetings, notes, transcripts, recordings, action items) and personal webhooks (transcript created, note generated, transcript shared, recording available, per-section events, test payload and history). Advanced ($15 per user per month billed annually, or $30 per user per month billed monthly) adds Salesforce (notes to a Contact, Account or Opportunity, auto or manual), ConnectWise (notes to tickets) and one team-level webhook set by an admin; the mobile apps send notes to HubSpot (from Core) and Salesforce (Advanced and up). Held back by Salesforce and ConnectWise starting only on Advanced, task tools (Asana, Jira, monday and Google Docs) reached only through Zapier, API keys that cannot be edited and expire after 90 days or never, and Krisp publishing neither a rate limit for the Meeting Assistant API nor signing for its webhooks.
- Ease of use: 3.6/5 — Capture needs no bot and no host permission by default: once Krisp Microphone and Krisp Speaker are selected in the calling app and the Note Taker is on, meetings are transcribed and recorded, the chosen recording mode stays for future meetings, notes and action items appear after the call, and the audio layer cleans noise in both directions, removes background voices with a compatible headset and cancels echo without extra steps. Calendar meetings are named from Google or Outlook, recap emails and Auto-Share can send notes to invitees, and the iOS and Android apps record in person. Held back by the set-up the audio layer needs: the virtual devices must be selected in every calling app (Krisp's help gives per-app steps for Zoom, Teams, Meet, Slack and RingCentral, and advises turning off the apps' own noise suppression), they do not work with other virtual microphones, Krisp Speaker cannot be used in Firefox or Safari, Bluetooth audio runs in mono, the desktop app needs admin rights on Windows and a Krisp account to install (full installer about 700 MB), sign-up by default requires a Google or Outlook calendar connection, the app stops if the Krisp backend is unreachable, the Krisp Bot must be admitted by the host and discards earlier transcription when invited mid-meeting, and some platforms block Krisp's participant notice so consent must be handled another way.
- Value for money: 3.6/5 — Krisp prices Meeting AI per user per month: Core costs $8 per user per month billed annually or $16 per user per month billed monthly ($96 or $192 per user a year by our arithmetic); Advanced costs $15 per user per month billed annually or $30 per user per month billed monthly ($180 or $360 per user a year by our arithmetic); Enterprise has custom pricing through Krisp's sales team. Krisp labels annual billing Save 50%, which is exact on both plans (billed annually vs billed monthly). Core bundles unlimited transcription, recording, noise cancellation and AI notes (per the matrix), uploads, the mobile apps, the CRM and automation integrations except Salesforce and ConnectWise, MCP, API and webhooks, 1 hour per day of accent conversion and 24/7 support, and the noise cancellation works in almost any calling app that lets you choose a microphone and speaker, not only in meetings. Volume discounts are offered above 50 members (no percentage published). Held back by no free Meeting AI plan: a 7-day free trial with no credit card, after which, under Krisp's Terms (March 2026), access ends unless you subscribe, with 90 days to export your content; every teammate added to the team is a paid seat; storage is 10 GB per user on Core and 60 GB on Advanced, with storage add-ons whose prices Krisp does not publish; Salesforce, ConnectWise, commenting and manager view need Advanced; HIPAA compliance, SSO, SCIM and SOC 2 report access need Enterprise at custom pricing; fees are non-refundable except as the Terms state, and a yearly plan cannot be switched to monthly from the account.
- Support & reliability: 3.3/5 — Support is tiered on the pricing page: 24/7 support plus Slack community access on Core, priority support with a dedicated Slack channel on Advanced, and priority support with a dedicated account manager on Enterprise; Krisp's Terms provide standard support at no extra cost during the subscription. Krisp says it holds SOC 2 Type II (independent annual audit) and PCI DSS (v4.0.1) certification, encrypts data in transit and at rest (AES-256), runs its backend on AWS, runs annual third-party penetration tests and a HackerOne bug bounty, and noise cancellation runs on the device. Deleted meetings stay in Trash for 30 days, and failed card payments are retried three more times (days 3, 10 and 19) before the subscription is cancelled. Held back by reliability and account risks the buyer carries: removing a user from a team permanently deletes that user's recordings; account deletion is irreversible; the SOC 2 report is available only on Enterprise, through Krisp's Trust Center; the app stops when the Krisp backend is unreachable; Krisp may change or withdraw features without notice; during the trial the service is provided as is, with no warranty or service level; and Trustpilot reviewers most often complain about cancelling and support.
- User sentiment: 4.3/5 — Mean of each platform's displayed rating with at least 30 reviews, weighted by review count (read November 2026): G2 4.7 from 1,617 reviews, Trustpilot 3.0 from 412, App Store (Krisp AI Meeting Note Taker) 4.7 from 271 (4.73 in the store data), Google Play 4.0 from 388 and Chrome Web Store 4.0 from 35, which gives 4.34 (Python) on 2,723 reviews. G2 carries about 59% of the weight. Capterra (11 reviews) and TrustRadius (3) are below the threshold and not counted. Trustpilot is read as a map of complaints, not a trend: reviewers most often raise cancelling, support, data, refunds, login and account problems, and charges. No ad-hoc penalty is applied. KrispCall and Crisp are different products and their ratings are not used; Krisp's own G2 badge and an older G2 figure in its blog are not sources.
- Docs & learning resources: 3.4/5 — The help center at help.krisp.ai is broad and practical: each article names the plan it applies to, and it covers set-up per calling app (Zoom, Teams, Meet, Slack, RingCentral, browsers, apps with no audio settings), system requirements, network and proxy settings, the Note Taker modes, the Krisp Bot, uploads, storage, sharing and Auto-Share, billing, cancellation and seats, mass deployment (MSI, PKG), VDI, and developer-grade articles for MCP (endpoint, OAuth with PKCE, tools, limits), the public API, webhooks, Zapier and Make with their triggers. Held back by undated help articles, older help articles that still use earlier mode names, and many product and blog pages that were not updated: old plan names (Pro, Business, Personal, Teams), old free tiers, 17 or 95 languages instead of 16, a free plan on the Zoom note-taker page, and an integrations page saying Krisp has no API, which leaves the pricing page, Terms and help as the only reliable sources.

The scorecard rewards what is rare: two-way noise cancellation, voice isolation and accent conversion in the same app as a bot-free note taker, with CRM and automation integrations on the entry plan. It marks Krisp down for the missing free plan, the Advanced gate on Salesforce, desktop-only noise cancellation and storage that cannot be shared across a team. That balance lands Krisp at 3.9/5.

**What users rate it, by platform**

| Platform | Rating | Reviews | As of |
|---|---|---|---|

_Rendered from our current record; these are other platforms' user scores, separate from our own Toolkit Score._

Sentiment depends on where you read it. G2 and the app stores rate Krisp well; Trustpilot reads differently. Reviewers there most often complain about canceling and support, then about data and refunds. Treat that as a map of where friction happens, not a verdict on the audio, and note that it matches the billing rules above: annual plans stay annual, and refunds are narrow.

Among the note takers we cover, the sharpest contrast is how you get in. Otter.ai, Granola, Fireflies.ai, Fathom and Read AI each offer a free plan; Krisp offers a trial. Billed annually, Krisp Core costs $8 per user per month and Otter Pro costs $8.33 per user per month, with Otter Pro capped at 5 billed users. Granola is closest in capture style, since it is also bot-free: it captures microphone and system audio as they are and stores no audio, while cleaning and converting the audio is Krisp's extra layer. Our [Krisp vs Granola comparison](/articles/krisp-vs-granola) weighs that trade.

## FAQ

**Is Krisp in Discord the same as the Krisp app?**

No. Krisp inside Discord is Discord's built-in noise suppression, free when used in Discord, and it cleans only your own microphone. It has no meeting notes, no accent conversion and no inbound cleaning.

**Can I move from monthly to annual billing later?**

Yes. A monthly Core plan can be switched to yearly from the Billing page, with the unused monthly amount subtracted. The reverse is not possible from the account: you cancel and subscribe monthly after the yearly cycle ends.

**Does Krisp offer volume discounts?**

Krisp says it offers volume discounts when you buy a plan for more than 50 members, through its sales team. It publishes no percentage.

**How can I pay for Krisp?**

Krisp takes major credit and debit cards, and its Terms also list Apple Pay and Google Pay, with availability varying by country and device. Enterprise customers can pay by invoice.

## The bottom line

Buy Krisp if noisy rooms, background chatter or accents are costing your calls clarity and you want notes without a bot in the meeting. Core at $8 per user per month billed annually covers most of that, HubSpot and Slack included. Pick Advanced for Salesforce or more accent hours. Skip it if transcripts are the whole job, because rivals start free. Run the 7-day trial on your own headset and real calls first; our score reflects the whole package, and the package only pays off if you use both halves.
