Pick **Krisp** when the call audio itself matters: it keeps audio recordings, adds video when you ask for it, and cleans the sound on both sides of the call while you talk. Pick **Granola** when you want notes and nothing else on file: it never saves audio, never sends a bot, and its Basic plan is free with a 30-day window on meeting history. Both tools capture meetings from a Mac or Windows desktop without a bot by default. Krisp Core costs $16 per user per month billed monthly[1] and Granola Business costs $14 per user per month billed monthly,[2] so Krisp runs $2 per user per month higher, billed monthly. Granola sells Business on monthly billing only. That is why we compare monthly.

**$16 vs $14** — Krisp Core vs Granola Business, per user per month, both billed monthly

- **0 bots** — Joining your calls by default, on either tool
- **30 days** — Meeting history shown on Granola's free Basic plan
- **7 days** — Krisp trial of paid plan features, no credit card

## Two ways to stay out of the attendee list

Neither tool needs to join the call as a participant. Each listens from your own computer, so clients see no extra name on screen. Krisp's desktop app sits between your headset and the calling app as two virtual devices, Krisp Microphone and Krisp Speaker, and its Note Taker offers four modes: Transcribe only, Audio Recording, Screen Recording, or Off. Screen Recording saves your screen together with the meeting audio, which gives you a video file without inviting anything into the meeting.

Krisp also has an optional **Krisp Bot** for Zoom, Google Meet and Microsoft Teams. It joins only when you send or invite it, the host has to admit it, and adding assistant@krisp.ai to a calendar invite makes it join even when you are absent.[3] Granola has no bot at all. Its desktop apps for macOS 14 and Windows 10 or later capture the device microphone and system audio, the same way on Zoom, Meet, Teams, Webex, Slack huddles, browser calls and conversations around a table.

Granola never transcribes every meeting on its own initiative. It starts when you click a notification that appears about a minute before a calendar meeting with two or more attendees, when you open the meeting's note after it begins, or when you click New Note. **Audio is never recorded or saved**, so there is no playback and no file to download. Krisp keeps recordings in its cloud, encrypted, until you delete them; they download as MP3, and transcripts export as .txt files with timestamps and speakers. Need to hear a client's exact words again next month? Only Krisp keeps the audio.

Pre-recorded files divide the pair the same way. Krisp transcribes uploads on every paid plan, one file at a time, up to 1 GB and 4 hours each, in AAC, MP3, M4A, WAV, WMA, MP4, MOV, MPEG and WMV formats. Granola accepts no uploads. A researcher holding a folder of older interview recordings has one practical route, decided before price enters the picture.

> 💡 **Select both Krisp devices:** Krisp's noise cancellation runs only when Krisp Microphone and Krisp Speaker are selected in your calling app, so set that up on day one of the 7-day trial.

## The audio layer Granola leaves alone

Here Krisp does a second job. Its noise cancellation works in two directions: outbound cleans what others hear from you, inbound cleans what you hear from them. Voice isolation removes nearby human voices when you wear a compatible headset, and acoustic echo cancellation is on by default. Krisp says noise cancellation runs on your device and that this audio is not sent to its servers. It works in almost any calling app that lets you choose a microphone and speaker. Linux and Chrome OS are not supported.

Accent conversion is capped by plan. Core includes 1 hour per day, which Krisp's help describes as shared between the speaker side and the listener side. Advanced includes 4 hours per day on the speaker side and unlimited use on the listener side, and Enterprise is custom. The output is US English. Granola captures your microphone and system audio as they are and writes notes from them; cleaning and converting the call audio is Krisp's extra layer. For a rep on a loud sales floor, this layer is the main reason to choose Krisp.

The trade is storage. Krisp gives each user 10 GB on Core and 60 GB on Advanced, assigned per person rather than pooled, and once a user passes 100%, new recordings are not saved until an admin buys more. Krisp does not publish storage add-on prices. Granola has no quota of this kind to watch, because it keeps no audio in the first place.

> ⚠ **Krisp storage is per user:** Krisp gives 10 GB per user on Core and 60 GB per user on Advanced, not pooled; above 100%, new recordings are not saved until an admin buys more.

## Free plan versus trial, and the monthly bill

Granola's **Basic plan is free**, with no credit card and no time limit. It writes AI notes for unlimited meetings, but the app shows only the last 30 days of history; older notes stay stored and return when you upgrade, and a CSV export covers the full history of notes you own. Chat works on the same 30 days, and Slack is the only integration.[2] Our [Granola review](/articles/granola-review) covers the plan in more depth.

Krisp has no free Meeting AI plan on its pricing page. It offers a 7-day free trial of its paid features, no credit card required. Under Krisp's Terms, access ends when the trial expires unless you subscribe, and you keep 90 days to export your content. Anyone who wants meeting notes at zero cost ends up with Granola.

Krisp Core costs $16 per user per month billed monthly, and Krisp Advanced costs $30 per user per month billed monthly. Granola Business costs $14 per user per month billed monthly, and every active member, admins included, counts as a paid seat. By our arithmetic, a year billed monthly comes to $192 per user on Krisp Core, $360 per user on Krisp Advanced and $168 per user on Granola Business. By our arithmetic, at those per user rates, five users for a year billed monthly total $960 on Krisp Core, $1,800 on Krisp Advanced and $840 on Granola Business.

Krisp also sells annual billing, which halves its rates: Core costs $8 per user per month billed annually and Advanced $15 per user per month billed annually. Granola reserves annual billing for Enterprise contracts, so no like-for-like yearly comparison exists. Granola Enterprise starts from $35 per user per month, with annual billing on Enterprise contracts. Krisp Enterprise has custom pricing through its sales team. Krisp's fees are non-refundable except as its Terms state.

Discounts point in different directions. Granola gives registered nonprofits half off Business, and it offers 12 months of Business free to accepted students at accredited universities in the US, UK and Canada (student ID required) and to startups funded by its partner investors. Krisp publishes no student or nonprofit discount. It offers volume discounts above 50 members through sales.

## Integrations, phones and the rest of the stack

| Area | Krisp | Granola |
|---|---|---|
| Bot | Optional Krisp Bot (Zoom, Meet, Teams) | Never |
| Recordings kept | Audio, plus video via the bot or Screen Recording | No audio file |
| File uploads | Every paid plan, up to 1 GB and 4 hours per file | None |
| Notion, Zapier, HubSpot, Affinity | From Core | From Business |
| Salesforce | From Advanced | Listed on Enterprise; via Zapier on paid plans |
| API | From Core | Business and Enterprise |
| MCP | From Core | Every plan |

Krisp's Core plan already carries HubSpot, Pipedrive, Affinity, Slack, Notion, Zapier, Make (the automation platform), Microsoft Teams, MCP, the public API and personal webhooks. Salesforce, ConnectWise, manager view, commenting and the team admin controls start on Advanced. Check those gates against your stack first.

Granola puts Slack on every plan and adds Notion, Zapier, HubSpot, Attio and Affinity on Business; its pricing page lists Salesforce among the advanced integrations on Enterprise, and Salesforce also runs through Zapier on paid plans. For a HubSpot team, the gap between Krisp Core and Granola Business stays at $2 per user per month, billed monthly. A Salesforce team lands on Krisp Advanced, or on Granola Business with Zapier, or should check Granola Enterprise, whose pricing page lists Salesforce.

Phones split along familiar lines. Krisp's iOS and Android apps record in-person meetings, upload audio, send the Krisp Bot to a call and place outgoing calls to US numbers with recording. Krisp's noise cancellation for your calls and meetings runs in the desktop app for Mac and Windows; the mobile apps are for recording, notes and transcription. Granola's iPhone and Android apps capture in-person meetings and outbound calls through its dialer in about 40 countries, but not Zoom, Meet or inbound calls.

## HIPAA, sign-in and admin control

Krisp says it complies with HIPAA; its pricing matrix lists HIPAA compliance on Enterprise only, and BAA signing is available for teams of 100 or more seats. Granola offers HIPAA workspaces with a BAA on Enterprise, and that BAA covers its desktop and laptop apps only. A clinic below 100 seats does not meet Krisp's BAA condition. It should ask Granola how Enterprise applies at its size.

Both hold SOC 2 Type II, and Krisp's report access sits on Enterprise. Sign-in differs. Krisp uses an emailed one-time code or a Google or Microsoft account, with optional two-factor authentication through an authenticator app; Granola signs you in through Google, Microsoft or SSO and has no built-in 2FA. SSO and SCIM are Enterprise features on Krisp, while on Granola they are Enterprise features that need 50 or more active members or a 50-seat Enterprise commitment. Removing a user from a Krisp team permanently deletes that user's data, including recordings.

## Matching the tool to the job

A solo consultant who rarely looks back past a month can run Granola Basic and spend nothing. A sales team on a noisy floor that logs calls to HubSpot gets clean audio and the CRM push from Krisp Core; Granola Business covers the HubSpot part for $2 per user per month less, billed monthly, but leaves the noise alone. Anyone converting accents for more than an hour a day, speaker and listener sides counted together, needs at least Krisp Advanced (up to 4 hours a day on the speaker side, unlimited on the listener side). Researchers with an archive need Krisp's uploads. Teams that would rather no audio existed should look hard at Granola.

Ratings help most as a check on support and billing, which no feature list shows. If you are also weighing bot-based note takers, our [Otter.ai vs Granola](/articles/otter-ai-vs-granola) and [Fathom vs Granola](/articles/fathom-vs-granola) comparisons cover those pairings.

> 💡 **Export Granola notes you own:** Granola Basic shows only the last 30 days in the app, but a CSV export covers the full history of notes you own.

## FAQ

**How many languages does Krisp transcribe?**

Krisp writes transcripts and summaries in 16 languages (its pricing page says 16+). Uploaded files transcribe in English by default, and 15 other languages can be selected.

**What happens when a Granola trial ends?**

Granola runs time-limited Business and Enterprise trials. An expired trial moves the workspace to the free Basic plan and is not charged.

**Can I edit a Granola transcript?**

No. Granola transcripts cannot be edited, although you can delete chunks of them.

**Can a yearly Krisp plan switch to monthly billing?**

Not from the account. You cancel and subscribe monthly after the yearly cycle ends, and Krisp's fees are non-refundable except as its Terms state.

## The bottom line

Choose Krisp if the sound of the call is part of the problem: it cleans audio in both directions, converts accents within daily caps, keeps recordings, accepts uploads and offers an optional bot for video. Choose Granola if notes are the whole job and stored audio is a liability: it never records sound and runs free on Basic with a 30-day history window. Billed monthly, the paid entry points sit $2 per user per month apart. Check Krisp's HIPAA terms against your seat count, and Granola's BAA scope (Enterprise, desktop and laptop apps only), before signing either.
