**3.4 / 5** — Our Toolkit Score for SavvyCal: the kindest booking page in its class, held back by narrow integrations, no AI and a slowing roadmap.

- **$10/user/mo** — Basic, billed annually
- **No free plan** — links need a paid seat
- **4 entries** — on the public changelog in 2025

## The verdict, in one line

SavvyCal is a meeting scheduler built around the person who receives the link rather than the person who sends it. Instead of a bare list of open slots, the recipient can lay their own calendar over yours and pick a time that works for both, while you steer them toward the hours you prefer. **It is the most considerate booking page in its class.** It is also a small product from a small company, priced per user at $12 a month or $10 billed annually, with no free scheduling plan, email-only workflows, no Salesforce, no mobile app and no AI. Pick it for polish. Skip it for breadth.

That trade has grown sharper over time. SavvyCal shipped quickly in its first two years and has slowed a great deal since, so most of what it does well today has been in place for years. For a consultant, a founder or a small sales or recruiting team that books calls with busy professionals, the core still feels better than the big names. For a company that needs routing, text reminders, enterprise security or a long integration list, the gaps add up quickly, and the price gives no discount for them. Know which group you are in.

## Who it fits, and who should skip it

SavvyCal fits people whose meetings are with other professionals who also live in their calendars: founders booking investor calls, consultants booking clients, podcasters booking guests, recruiters booking candidates and small sales teams booking demos. The vendor's own solution pages target sales, marketing, recruiting, customer success, education, consulting and podcasting, and the features line up with that list. **The calendar overlay matters most when the person booking has a crowded week of their own**, which is exactly the situation of a busy prospect or a guest on a podcast tour.

The wrong fit is easier to spot. Salons, clinics and studios that sell appointments to the public need text reminders, deposits and packages, and SavvyCal sends email only and keeps payments on its higher plan. Health practices are out entirely, because the Terms forbid protected health information. Sales organizations that run on Salesforce or need routing forms will find neither. Teams that want an app on the phone, single sign-on or a SOC 2 report will not get them. And anyone who needs a free plan to put a booking link in front of clients will be disappointed, because activating links always requires a paid seat.

> 💡 **Rank your preferred windows first:** Set ranked availability so your best times appear first while other slots stay open. It is on Basic and does most of the work of protecting your calendar.

## The recipient-first idea: overlay and ranked availability

Most schedulers show a grid of free times and let the invitee guess what fits their own week. SavvyCal lets the invitee connect a Google, Outlook or other calendar on the booking page and see their own events laid over the host's availability in a week view. That removes the tab-switching that makes booking links feel rude. The overlay works for anyone, and a free account is enough to use it on other people's links, which quietly turns every booking into a small demo of the product.

The host side is just as thoughtful. **Ranked availability** shows preferred windows first, so you can offer Tuesday mornings as your best times while still allowing other slots. Optimized availability goes further, nudging bookings toward a time of day you like or next to existing meetings, to keep your calendar from breaking into fragments. Time blocks let ordinary calendar events define when you are bookable: name an event Calls and only that block opens. Propose times builds a text snippet of suggested slots to paste into an email, and the recipient picks one in two clicks.

Personalized links round it out. You can tailor a link for one recipient, prefill their name and email, and offer several durations on a single link instead of one link per length. Single-use links archive themselves after one booking, which suits a one-off introduction. None of this is flashy, but together it explains why one founder quoted on SavvyCal's comparison page says he cancelled Calendly and upgraded to SavvyCal for the overlay.

## What you pay, and the missing free plan

SavvyCal keeps pricing simple. There are two plans, both billed per user, with a switch between monthly and annual billing; the page labels the annual option as saving two months [1]. All prices are in US dollars, with sales tax added where required. Each plan includes unlimited links, calendars and teams, so the only meter is the number of people who need their own active links. There is no minimum seat count either, which keeps a solo buyer and a ten-person team on the same terms.

| Plan | Billed monthly | Billed annually | Per user per year, annual |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| Basic | $12 per user a month | $10 per user a month | $120 |
| Premium | $20 per user a month | $17 per user a month | $204 |

**Basic** carries almost everything that matters: unlimited links, meeting polls, calendar connections and teams; collective, round robin and group modes; workflows, automation connectors, the API and webhooks; ranked and optimized availability, time blocks and frequency limits. **Premium** adds custom domains, sending emails from your own domain, removing SavvyCal branding, delegated access for an assistant and paid bookings through Stripe. For a five-person team on Basic, that is $600 a year billed annually or $720 billed monthly, by our arithmetic. Moving the same five people to Premium on annual billing costs $1,020.

The plan question for most buyers comes down to one feature. If you charge for meetings, you need Premium, because Stripe payments sit there. If you want links on your own domain or an assistant managing your calendar, the same applies, although the assistant only needs a free SavvyCal account of their own. Everyone else can stay on Basic and lose very little. Most teams should.

### Free account, paid links

There is no free scheduling plan. You can sign up, connect calendars, set up links and run meeting polls without paying, and you can overlay your calendar on other people's SavvyCal links as a guest. Activating your own links for others, being the organizer on someone else's link or joining a round robin pool all require a paid seat [88]. Instead of a trial, SavvyCal offers a 30-day money-back guarantee, and students, educators and non-profits can ask support for 25% off. Our [SavvyCal pricing guide](/articles/savvycal-pricing) covers seats, billing and cancellation in detail.

> ⚠ **Free setup, paid activation:** You can build links and run polls without paying, but no one can book you until you buy a seat. Plan to use the 30-day refund window as your test period.

## Scheduling depth and team modes

### Controls on every link

Beneath the friendly booking page sits a deep set of link controls. You can cap bookings per day, week and month on one link or across all of them, set buffers before and after, require minimum notice and choose start increments. Links can require approval before anything lands on your calendar, reject free email addresses so prospects must use a work address, and, since May 2026, block the booker from rescheduling or cancelling from 15 minutes up to a week before the start. Custom questions cover text, checkboxes, radio buttons, menus and URLs, and event names can be built from Liquid templates. Each link can write to its own calendar, so client calls and personal bookings land in different places.

Calendar support covers Google, Outlook, iCloud and Fastmail for conflict checks and event creation. Conferencing covers Zoom with a unique meeting per booking, Google Meet, Microsoft Teams and Whereby, plus SquadCast for podcast recordings. Booking on behalf of others arrived in November 2025, letting an admin or assistant pick any slot for someone, including times not shown publicly. Contacts followed in February 2026, with a record for everyone who has booked with you.

### Collective, round robin and group

Three team modes come with Basic. **Collective** links show only the times when you and every included teammate are free, and outside contacts can be invited to share their availability without paying. **Round robin** spreads bookings across a pool, either picking the next available person or cycling through members for an even split; you can give some members priority and exclude others from the pool so they are always invited. **Group** mode lets several people book the same slot for webinars, office hours or group coaching. Seats are added automatically when a teammate joins and removed when they leave, and someone in several teams under one organization is charged once.

## Workflows, integrations and the API

### Workflows send email only

Workflows automate messages at five points in a meeting's life: after it is scheduled, before it starts, after it starts, before it ends and after it ends. They support Liquid templates, extra recipients and duplication across people and teams, and they can trigger Zapier automations. **What they cannot do is send a text message.** SavvyCal can collect a phone number on every booking, but its own changelog points users to Zapier for texting. For service businesses where a missed appointment costs money, that is a real gap.

### Integrations

The native list is short and focused. HubSpot and Close are the only CRMs: the HubSpot integration creates contacts and logs meeting activities, but SavvyCal meetings do not appear in HubSpot's own Meetings tool and existing contact properties are not updated. Slack posts to channels on new, changed and canceled events. Kit receives booker data with optional tags, Fathom adds web analytics, and Stripe handles payments on Premium, holding the slot for 10 minutes during checkout. Zapier offers three triggers, and a browser extension for Chrome, Edge and Brave inserts links and proposed times into Gmail. There is no Salesforce, Webex or GoToMeeting in the directory.

### The API and webhooks

Developers get a REST API at version one with personal access tokens or OAuth 2, where access tokens last two hours and refresh tokens renew them. It covers events, scheduling links, the current user, time zones, webhooks and a read-only view of workflows, and the specification can be exported as OpenAPI. Polls and contacts have no API section. The developer docs list 16 webhook event types, signed with HMAC SHA-256 and retried with exponential backoff. No rate limits or plan requirements are published, and the pricing page shows the API and webhooks on Basic. The one signature example is written in Elixir. For a small team that wants bookings in its own database, it is enough.

> 💡 **Add a reminder workflow on day one:** SavvyCal recommends at least one reminder email through workflows, because Google may not add invites to a booker's calendar automatically. Workflows are on Basic.

## What is missing

The absences are where SavvyCal loses most buyers, so it is worth listing them plainly. There are no native SMS reminders. There is no Salesforce integration and no routing form to qualify leads before they book. There is no native iOS or Android app. There are no AI features of any kind, at a time when the market leader sells an AI scheduling assistant. There is no single sign-on or SAML, and SavvyCal holds no SOC 2 or ISO 27001 certification of its own; it points instead to its infrastructure providers [5]. It runs no bug bounty, and its security page was last updated in January 2023.

A few smaller limits matter for specific buyers. Booking pages are translated only into English, French and Dutch, which narrows the fit for international audiences. Paid meetings that are canceled are not refunded automatically; the organizer has to do it in Stripe. The Terms forbid collecting protected health information, so therapists and clinics should look elsewhere. A separate developer product called SavvyCal Appointments claims HIPAA compliance, but it is sold by demo to select partners and is not the scheduler reviewed here. None of these gaps is hidden. They are simply not on the roadmap that the changelog shows.

## A small company with a slowing changelog

SavvyCal is an indie software company in Minneapolis, founded by Derrick Reimer, a co-founder of the email tool Drip, and funded by TinySeed and a few angel investors. The company page lists him and two support staff. The home page claims more than 2,000 customers. The company says it favors sustainable, organic growth over chasing scale. Buyers can read that as stability, since there is no venture clock forcing a sale or a pivot. They can also read it as limited capacity. Both readings are fair. A team this size can keep a product polished, but it cannot build a phone app, a Salesforce sync and an AI assistant at the same time.

The public changelog makes the pace easy to measure [12]. We counted 37 entries in 2021, 25 in 2022, 16 in 2023, 11 in 2024 and just 4 in 2025, with 7 so far in 2026. That is a steep decline. The recent entries are useful rather than ambitious: booking on behalf of others, contacts, multi-language booking pages, a lock on last-minute changes and duplicate workflows. One of SavvyCal's comparison pages still says it ships new features weekly, which the dated record no longer supports. If you need a vendor that will add SMS, Salesforce or AI soon, the evidence points the other way.

### Support

Support runs by email at support@savvycal.com, Monday to Friday from 9am to 5pm US Central time, with replies promised within 24 hours. A knowledge base, a status page and an API reference fill in the rest. For a two-person support staff that is a reasonable promise, and the help center is clear and practical. It is still thin next to rivals that offer chat or phone, and a booking problem on a Friday evening waits until Monday.

## What users say

**What users rate it, by platform**

| Platform | Rating | Reviews | As of |
|---|---|---|---|

_Rendered from our current record; these are other platforms' user scores, separate from our own Toolkit Score._

Public reviews are too few to judge. A handful of reviews sit on Capterra, Software Advice and Product Hunt, there is no Trustpilot listing, and G2 shows no indexed rating. That leaves the vendor's own testimonials, which praise the calendar overlay and the feel of booking with SavvyCal. They are not a substitute for a body of independent opinion. Treat the sentiment as neutral, not as a warning and not as a strength.

## How we score SavvyCal

We read the pricing page from the United States in October 2026, the help center, the developer documentation, the dated public changelog, the security, privacy and legal pages and the vendor's comparison pages, and we checked each claim against the page that supports it. We did not buy a plan or book real meetings through it. The score uses our scheduling rubric, where ease of use and integrations count most, and the reasoning for each axis sits on the card below.

**Our scorecard — 3.4/5**
- Capability & depth: 3.5/5 — Distinctive scheduling ideas: recipients overlay their own calendar on your link, ranked and optimized availability, time blocks, frequency limits, unlimited links and meeting polls, collective, round robin (random, even distribution, priorities) and group modes, booking on behalf of others, a lock on last-minute changes (May 2026), email workflows with Liquid templates and paid bookings through Stripe on Premium. Held back by no native SMS (the vendor suggests Zapier), no routing forms, booking pages in only English, French and Dutch, no meeting notes or AI, and workflows that send only email.
- Ease of use: 4.1/5 — Built around the person receiving the link: calendar overlay for bookers, a clean two-plan structure, a browser extension, website embeds with platform guides and automatic seat sync for teams. Held back by no native iOS or Android app and by the fact that a new account cannot share a scheduling link until it pays.
- AI: 1.5/5 — No AI scheduling, no AI notes, no MCP server and no AI assistant appear anywhere on the site, help center, developer docs or changelog (read 15 October 2026). The only automation is rule-based email workflows and webhooks to tools like Zapier.
- Value for money: 3.4/5 — Basic costs $12 per user a month or $10 billed annually ($120 a year) with unlimited links, teams, round robin, API and webhooks; Premium $20 or $17 adds custom domains, branding removal, delegation and paid bookings; a 30-day money-back guarantee and 25% off for students, educators and non-profits. Held back by no free plan for booking links (only polls and calendar overlay are free), payments and branding removal locked to Premium, and no SMS included at any price.
- Integrations: 3.2/5 — Google, Outlook/Office 365, iCloud and Fastmail calendars; Zoom, Google Meet, Microsoft Teams and Whereby; HubSpot and Close CRM; Zapier, viaSocket, Slack, Stripe and a few creator tools; a REST API with personal tokens or OAuth 2 and 16 webhook events signed with HMAC SHA-256. Held back by no Salesforce, a workflows API that is read-only, no polls or contacts endpoints, no native SMS provider and HubSpot meetings that do not appear in HubSpot's own Meetings tool.
- Docs & learning resources: 3.3/5 — 85 help articles, developer docs with an exportable OpenAPI specification and every schema documented, and a dated public changelog going back to July 2020. Held back by help articles that disagree on which features are Premium, most help pages without dates, no statement of which plan the API needs or its rate limits, and a pricing FAQ hidden behind accordions.
- Support & reliability: 2.9/5 — Email support Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm US Central, with replies within 24 hours, a public status page, a DPA with standard contractual clauses and a dated sub-processor list. Held back by no SOC 2 or ISO 27001 report (only its infrastructure providers hold them), no SSO or SAML, no bug bounty, no phone or chat support, a three-person team page and a release pace that fell from 37 changelog entries in 2021 to 4 in 2025.
- User sentiment: 3.5/5 — Too few public reviews to measure (15 October 2026): Capterra 5.0 from 4 and Software Advice 5.0 from 4 (same owner, counted once), Product Hunt 5.0 from 4; G2 shows no indexed rating and Trustpilot has no listing. No platform reaches 30 reviews, so the axis is held at a neutral 3.5 rather than averaging perfect scores from a handful of reviewers.

That puts SavvyCal at **3.4/5**, the lowest of the seven scheduling tools we rate. The reasons are structural rather than about quality. Ease of use is a real strength, but integrations are narrow, there is no AI at all, support is weekday email only, and the review base is too small to lift the sentiment score. Rivals at the same price add SMS, routing, apps or larger ecosystems, so value suffers too. Calendly Standard, for example, costs the same $12 a seat monthly or $10 billed annually, and Calendly also offers a free plan and a mobile app. That comparison hurts. See how the two compare head to head in our [SavvyCal vs Calendly breakdown](/articles/savvycal-vs-calendly).

## FAQ

**Is SavvyCal worth it?**

For people who book calls with busy professionals, often yes: the calendar overlay and ranked availability are on Basic at $10 per user a month billed annually. Teams that need SMS, Salesforce, routing or AI should look elsewhere.

**Does SavvyCal have a free plan?**

Not for scheduling. A free account can set up links, run meeting polls and overlay its calendar on other people's links, but activating your own links needs a paid plan.

**What is the difference between Basic and Premium?**

Premium adds custom domains, custom sending domains, branding removal, delegated access for an assistant and paid bookings through Stripe. It costs $20 per user a month, or $17 billed annually.

**Does SavvyCal send SMS reminders?**

No. Workflows send email only, and SavvyCal suggests Zapier if you want to text bookers.

**Does SavvyCal integrate with Salesforce?**

No. The only native CRMs are HubSpot and Close, and HubSpot meetings do not appear in HubSpot's Meetings tool.

**Who makes SavvyCal?**

SavvyCal, Inc., an indie company in Minneapolis founded by Derrick Reimer, a co-founder of Drip, with funding from TinySeed and a few angel investors.

## The bottom line

Choose SavvyCal if you book meetings with busy professionals and want the kindest booking experience available: the calendar overlay, ranked times, personalized links and solid team modes, all on Basic at $10 per user a month billed annually. Use the 30-day refund window to confirm it fits, and move to Premium only if you charge for meetings, need your own domain or want an assistant to manage the calendar. Skip it if you need SMS reminders, Salesforce, routing, a mobile app, AI or a SOC 2 report, or if a slowing roadmap worries you. It is polished, but it is not growing.
