**$0** — Plan needed for paid sessions, packages and subscriptions: TidyCal Free, with a 1% fee on Stripe payments.

- **$29 once** — Individual Lifetime: video links, groups, cancellation fees
- **1% fee** — on Stripe payments on Free and lifetime plans
- **$750 pack** — TidyCal's 6-session example at $125 each

## Why solo coaches end up on TidyCal

Coaches need clients to pay before the call, buy sessions in bulk and actually show up. TidyCal's Free plan already takes paid bookings, packages and subscriptions [1], features its own comparison shows rivals charging for. For a solo coach that means the whole sales path, from a free discovery call to a paid session, a prepaid pack and a monthly plan, can run without a subscription. **The only running cost is the 1% fee on Stripe payments.** When you need more, Individual Lifetime costs $29 once. It fits solo coaching well.

## The offers that carry a coaching practice

TidyCal's page for life coaches has its example coach run three booking types on one booking page: a 20-minute free discovery call, a 60-minute paid session and a 6-session pack [132]. The page argues most coaches do fine with three, and since unlimited booking types are free, adding a fourth later costs nothing. Free and paid calls sit side by side, and clients pick what they are ready for. A monthly subscription is the natural fourth option for coaches who work on retainer.

### The discovery call: short, and clearly not coaching

The discovery call is free and exists to check fit. TidyCal suggests saying in the description that there is no coaching on this call, and adding required questions so you know what the person wants before you meet. A free call needs no Stripe connection. Its length matters more than it looks. TidyCal's page argues that a 60-minute free call gives away your best session to people who never buy, so its example uses 20 minutes, and the coaches guide suggests a free 15-minute call. **Short calls qualify. Long ones coach for free.**

> 💡 **Keep discovery calls short:** Keep the discovery call to 15 or 20 minutes and say there is no coaching on it. Long free calls give away your best session.

### The paid single session as an anchor

The example single session is 60 minutes at $150, paid at booking through Stripe or PayPal. It exists for people not ready to commit, and no invoice is needed because the money arrives before the call. Its bigger job is pricing. Six single sessions at $150 cost $900, while the pack costs $750, by our arithmetic. A client comparing $150 for one session with $125 each in the pack sees a saving of $150 across six sessions, which is exactly the effect TidyCal's page describes. Price the single to sell the pack.

### The six-session pack

A package booking type lets the client pick every date and pay the total once. TidyCal's example is 6 sessions at $125 each, or $750 up front, and packages are on every plan. That is the main offer. It also changes cash flow, because the coach collects $750 on the day the client commits rather than $150 at a time over two months, and all six sessions are already on the calendar when the first one starts. The consultations guide makes the same case, suggesting a per-session discount for bundles.

### Monthly coaching on a subscription

A subscription bills the client monthly through Stripe and grants a set number of sessions, such as 2 a month. Subscriptions are on every plan, but they require Stripe; PayPal cannot run them. Subscribers get 1 to 100 credits per week, month or year, 4 by default. Unused credits do not roll over, so a client who skips a month simply starts the next period with fresh sessions to book, and cancellation takes effect at the end of the period. One gap needs a routine. TidyCal does not email subscribers about failed renewals, so check the Subscriptions page monthly.

## Intake, buffers and the booking window

TidyCal's example asks only two questions: what the client wants to change in six months, and how they heard about the coach. Answers show with the booking in the dashboard, and the page warns that longer forms make people bail, so keep it to two or three. A coach who already knows the goal can skip the warm-up. TidyCal's nutrition page leaves out weight, medications and conditions, calling them a conversation, not a form field. Keep forms to goals and logistics, and ask sensitive questions live.

TidyCal suggests a buffer of 10 minutes after discovery calls and 15 after sessions, to write notes while they are fresh; buffers are set per booking type on every plan and apply only when that type is booked. It suggests 12 hours of minimum notice to stop late-night bookings for the same evening, against a default of 2 hours, and notice can be set in minutes, hours or days. For the booking window it suggests 30 days, arguing that a booking 8 weeks out usually cancels. The default is 60 days. A 12-week program needs the 90-day window the nutrition page uses.

## Keeping clients on the calendar

Reminders go out 24 hours and 1 hour before each booking by default, on every plan. Paid plans can customize the timing and the text, and text reminders need Agency Lifetime or Pro. TidyCal's guide argues that charging up front is the biggest fix for no-shows, with reminders helping on top. After the session, up to 3 automated before and after emails run on every plan, but they start switched off on new accounts. **Turn them on.** One of them can request a review, and follow-up is what sells the next pack.

Late cancellations are the other leak. TidyCal suggests charging the full price for cancellations inside 24 hours, which works on Lifetime and Pro and only on paid bookings through Stripe. Rescheduling never triggers the fee. On Free, clients can always cancel and can reschedule until the session starts; paid plans can set a rescheduling cutoff. Packages cannot be rescheduled as a whole, and every confirmation carries reschedule and cancel links. So a coach on Free who wants that protection has to buy Individual Lifetime for $29 before the first late cancellation costs a full session.

## Coaching online, in person and across borders

Paid plans create a Zoom, Google Meet or Teams link for every booking, while Free coaches paste one room link into the booking type. TidyCal argues that per-booking links beat reusing one room forever, and a $29 license covers them, so online coaches gain the most from paying. In-person and phone locations work on every plan. Free allows one location per booking type, and paid plans let clients choose online or in person. Hybrid coaches on Free can duplicate their booking types instead, or pay $29.

Clients abroad are handled well. The booking page shows times in each visitor's time zone, so a client in London and a coach in Denver see the same slot correctly, and bookings land on your calendar in your zone. Language is narrower. Booker pages and emails can appear in 40 language options, but the language is set once per account and your own titles and questions are not translated. Multilingual coaches need care.

## Getting found: one link, a website and the directory

TidyCal's example coach puts one booking link in the Instagram bio, the email signature and podcast outros. The booking page shows every option, so nobody needs to ask about availability by message. Coupons extend the idea. TidyCal suggests giving podcast listeners a code for their first session and then seeing who used it. Coupons are on every plan, usage can be limited per booker email, and a code discounts every session in a pack.

Every account also gets a booking website with bio, testimonials and FAQ sections, built from 10 sections and 4 themes. On Free it shows a prominent TidyCal footer, which Pro removes, so treat it as a starter site. Reviews add social proof quietly: clients can rate a session after it ends, reviews publish immediately and only first names show. A storefront on every plan sells PDFs, courses and templates through Stripe checkout.

TidyCal's public directory has a Coaching category covering life, career, executive, relationship, health and financial coaching, and listing is free on every plan. Listings show ratings and a starting price. The counts show the competition: 2,542 life coaching listings, 552 career, 310 financial, 296 health, 226 executive and 203 relationship, or 4,129 in total by our arithmetic. Life coaching alone accounts for about 62% of them. It brings some discovery. Do not rely on it.

## Health and nutrition coaches: programs and the HIPAA line

TidyCal's nutrition page suggests a free 15-minute intro call, a $120 paid first consult and a 12-week program sold as a package. The intro call answers whether you can help, the consult starts the work, and the program carries the revenue. The example program is 6 check-ins of 30 minutes at $65 each, or $390 paid once, held every two weeks. The client picks all six dates at once, and a 90-day booking window fits them all. A client who takes the paid consult and then the program pays $510 in total, by our arithmetic. The same example sells a meal-plan PDF next to the sessions.

> 💡 **Sell programs as packages:** Sell the program as a package so clients pick every date and pay once. Every session is on the calendar before the first one starts.

The limit here is firm. TidyCal does not sign HIPAA business associate agreements and calls itself a scheduling tool, not a health record system [134]. If you need a BAA, TidyCal says it is not the right fit and points to Acuity Premium. Ask your compliance advisor. Even a simple booking can carry health details if the form asks for them, so store weight, medications and conditions in a system built for health records.

> ⚠ **No HIPAA agreement:** TidyCal signs no HIPAA BAA and is not a health record system, so health coaches should keep weight, medications and conditions out of booking forms.

## Workshops, group calls and coaching teams

Group bookings allow 2 to 10,000 attendees per slot on paid plans, and each attendee pays separately. Free saves group types with one seat only, so workshops need $29 at least, and group sessions share one meeting link per slot. Date polls are the free way to find a time, since participants vote on dates on every plan. Polls cannot collect payment, though. Use them for free group calls only.

Coaching teams need Agency Lifetime or Pro for a team page, round robin and collective bookings. Agency Lifetime covers up to 4 people, Pro has no seat fees, and every member needs their own account. Round robin sends each booking to one available coach by priority, and a rescheduled booking may switch coach, so keep ongoing clients on each coach's personal page. Collective meetings offer a time only when every host is free; TidyCal recommends them for teams of 2 to 4, which suits co-facilitated sessions and joint intakes.

## What it costs: Free, $29 once or $99 a year

On Free and lifetime plans, Stripe bookings carry a 1% TidyCal fee [145]. On a $120 session that is $1.20, TidyCal's own example, and on the $750 pack it is $7.50, by our arithmetic. PayPal carries none, and Pro removes the fee. For a coach selling one $750 pack and four $150 sessions a month through Stripe, the fee comes to $13.50 a month, or $162 a year by our arithmetic. That is more than Pro at $99 a year, if the coach absorbs it.

Pay $29 once for Individual Lifetime when you need automatic video links, group bookings, custom reminders or more calendars; it also adds cancellation fees and approvals, and it is sold on AppSumo. Pay $99 a year for Pro when you want no TidyCal branding, a custom domain, unlimited calendars or no platform fee, plus team scheduling with no seat fees. The switch makes sense once you absorb the fee on more than about $825 of Stripe payments a month, by our arithmetic, or as soon as clients must stop seeing TidyCal branding. Our [TidyCal pricing guide](/articles/tidycal-pricing) walks through every plan.

| Over three years | Cost for a solo coach |
| --- | --- |
| TidyCal Free | $0 |
| TidyCal Individual Lifetime | $29 |
| TidyCal Pro, billed yearly | $297 |
| Calendly Standard, billed annually | $360 |
| Acuity Starter, billed annually | $576 |

Over three years TidyCal is the cheapest of the three on every plan, by our arithmetic, and even Pro stays below Calendly Standard. At the low end the gap matters less than the features, since $29 against $360 is small money for a busy coach. It grows quickly once a coaching team adds seats, though, because TidyCal Pro has no seat fees at all.

## What you give up, and when a rival fits better

The trade-offs are specific. There is no native mobile app: TidyCal runs in the phone browser, bookings land on your calendar so your calendar app can alert you, and the mobile menu lacks Polls, Store and Payments. Coaches who live on their phone should test first. There are no deposits, so a program is paid in full as a package or monthly as a subscription, and there is no waitlist or gift certificates. There are no routing forms and no Salesforce, so coaching businesses with CRM pipelines should look at Calendly. And GA4 or Tag Manager tracking needs a paid plan, so coaches running ads should buy Individual Lifetime first.

TidyCal's coaches guide ranks itself first, then Acuity, Calendly and Cal.com, and mentions SavvyCal as checked but not ranked. Each entry says what the rival does better, but it is still a vendor ranking. Acuity has no free plan; Starter costs $20 a month or $16 billed annually, and it offers gift certificates, a waitlist, memberships and packages, with a BAA on Premium. Health and wellness coaches with intake needs should compare it.

Calendly wins in one narrow case, and TidyCal concedes it: if you only run free discovery calls and take payment elsewhere, Calendly's free plan covers it. Payments, packages and coupons start on Calendly Standard at $10 a seat a month billed annually, so the first paid session moves you there. TidyCal says Cal.com has unlimited event types and payments on its free plan, and that SavvyCal suits heavy one-to-one schedules but has no free plan and needs Premium for payments. Check both vendors directly. Our [TidyCal vs Calendly comparison](/articles/tidycal-vs-calendly) goes deeper.

## Setting it up in an afternoon

TidyCal says the coaching setup can be copied in about 10 minutes. Create the three booking types, paste in the intake questions, connect Stripe and share the link. Then add buffers, minimum notice and a booking window, turn on the automated emails and test one booking. Coaches leaving Calendly can use the importer, which brings event types, bookings and contacts on every plan. Prices and payments do not carry over, so re-enter prices, and imported types get new URLs. Update your bio link. From there the week mostly runs itself: a lead books from your bio, you send the pack link after a good call, and reminders do the rest.

## FAQ

**Is TidyCal good for coaches?**

Yes for coaches who charge: paid sessions, packages, subscriptions, coupons and reviews all work on the Free plan, and automatic video links cost $29 once.

**Can coaches sell packages on TidyCal?**

Yes. A package booking type lets the client pick every date and pay the total once, on every plan.

**Can I charge clients monthly?**

Yes, with a subscription billed through Stripe that grants a set number of sessions per period. PayPal cannot run subscriptions, and unused credits do not roll over.

**Can I offer free and paid calls on one page?**

Yes. Each is its own booking type on the same booking page, and clients do not need an account to book.

**Does TidyCal take a cut of coaching payments?**

On Free and lifetime plans, Stripe bookings carry a 1% TidyCal fee. PayPal bookings carry none, and Pro at $99 a year removes it.

**Is TidyCal HIPAA compliant for health coaches?**

TidyCal does not sign HIPAA business associate agreements. If you need a BAA, TidyCal points to Acuity Premium instead.

## The bottom line

TidyCal is built around how solo coaches sell. A coach who sells discovery calls, single sessions, a six-session pack and a monthly plan can run the whole offer on TidyCal Free, add $29 once for video links and group workshops, and move to Pro when the fee or the branding starts to cost more than $99 a year. Keep health details and CRM work in other tools. It is a yes for one-to-one coaches who charge, a maybe if you need texts or a team, and a no if you need a BAA or CRM routing.
