We believe you should know exactly how we make money, so here it is in plain terms.

When we recommend a tool, some of the links to it are affiliate links. If you click one and end up buying, the vendor may pay us a commission — at no extra cost to you. You pay the same price you would have anyway. This is the main way independent work like ours gets funded.

It never changes what we say

This is the part that matters. A commission never buys a better score, a higher ranking, or a softer verdict. Our recommendations are decided by the data and our analysis — the same process, described on our methodology page, whether or not a tool has an affiliate program. We routinely recommend tools we earn nothing from, and we surface the flaws of tools we do earn from. If our judgment were for sale, we’d be useless to you — and we know it.

Not every tool pays us

Plenty of the tools we cover don’t have an affiliate program, or we simply haven’t joined it. We cover and recommend them anyway when they’re the right answer. Coverage on this site is never conditional on a commercial relationship.

No display ads, ever

You won’t find banner ads or sponsored placements dressed up as reviews on this site. Affiliate commissions are the model precisely because they let us keep the pages clean, honest and useful.
