Base44 prices each workspace, not each person, and every plan buys a monthly allowance of credits. The Free plan costs $0 and comes with 25 message credits a month. Starter is $16 per month billed annually or $20 per month billed monthly; Builder is $40 per month billed annually or $50 per month billed monthly; Pro is $80 per month billed annually or $100 per month billed monthly; Elite is $160 per month billed annually or $200 per month billed monthly [1]. Enterprise is quote only. Our read: stay on Free while you experiment, pay for Starter when you need your own domain, and treat Builder as the real threshold, since payments, GitHub and backend functions start there.

Each plan belongs to one workspace, and only its owner can buy, change or cancel it. Invited members build on the owner's plan and draw from the same pool, so a team of four pays one subscription rather than four. Viewers use no credits. The annual column is a per-month rate charged once a year, while the credits are identical on both terms: an annual Elite plan still receives 1,200 message credits each month, not a year's worth on day one. From Starter up, the cards promise an unlimited number of apps; credits stay capped.

Elite also comes in larger sizes, up to 8,200 message credits a month, but Base44 does not publish prices for Elite sizes above 1,200 message credits. Above Elite sits Base44's Enterprise offering, which its help center splits into a self-serve Business plan and a sales-led Enterprise plan; neither price is published. That tier is where SSO, data residency and per-member credit limits live, although Elite keeps SSO and data residency for workspaces created before October 2026. Only full Enterprise workspaces are excluded from AI model training, and every other plan, Business included, has no opt-out setting.

⚠️
Watch out
Visitors spend your credits

Emails, AI calls, images and agent replies your app's users trigger come out of the owner workspace's integration credits.

What one credit pays for

Message credits cover conversations with the AI that builds your app; integration credits cover the built-in services that app uses once it runs. Neither has a fixed price per action. Base44's own estimates put a simple text or visual change at about 0.5 message credit, a small feature at about 1, a complex module at about 2 and an app-wide change at about 3 to 4 [2]. A first build takes about 1 credit, Discuss mode about 0.3 per message, and hand edits nothing. So 100 message credits are not 100 changes; the mix of small and large requests decides how far they go.

Divide each fee by its message credits and the middle of the range is flat: Starter, Builder and Pro all work out to $0.16 per message credit billed annually and $0.20 billed monthly, by our arithmetic. Elite is the only size that lowers it, to about $0.133 billed annually and about $0.167 billed monthly. Those rates ignore integration credits and features, so they compare allowances rather than value, and they assume you spend every credit before it expires.

Integration credits are where a live app quietly spends. An email costs about 1, an upload 1, a generated image 1, and an in-app agent message on the automatic model from about 3; database reads and writes cost nothing. Your end users spend the owner's integration credits whenever the app emails them or answers through an agent. At about 3 or more integration credits per reply, busy agent chats can use up Starter's 2,000 a month quickly. Failed output still costs, too: credits spent on broken AI changes are not refunded.

💡
Toolkit tip
Plan in Discuss mode first

Discuss mode costs about 0.3 message credit per message, so settle what you want there before a build change that may cost 2 to 4 credits.

Annual against monthly: the nine-month line

By our arithmetic, a year of Starter costs $192 billed annually against $240 billed monthly, Builder $480 billed annually against $600 billed monthly, Pro $960 billed annually against $1,200 billed monthly, and Elite $1,920 billed annually against $2,400 billed monthly, each a 20% saving. The catch is timing. The yearly fee is charged up front, and the Terms treat it as non-refundable. Monthly costs less only if you stop within nine months. By our arithmetic, nine months of Starter billed monthly total $180, under the $192 annual charge, and a tenth month brings the monthly total to $200. Nine months billed monthly also stay below the annual charge elsewhere, by our arithmetic: $450 on Builder, $900 on Pro and $1,800 on Elite.

Two perks appear only on the yearly toggle. A free domain for one year comes with yearly Starter plans bought from October 2026 and with yearly Builder, Pro and Elite; it covers one standard domain, has to be claimed within 60 days, and later renewals are billed separately. Yearly Builder, Pro and Elite also add 25 credits to share with a friend. Monthly plans get neither. Note one more one-way door: a yearly plan cannot be switched back to monthly, although monthly moves to yearly in place.

Toolkit tip
Count your months before paying yearly

If the project may end within nine months, monthly billing totals less; the yearly fee is charged up front and is non-refundable under the Terms.

Climbing the ladder, one plan at a time

Starter is the first paid step, and its gates are about presentation and control: a custom domain, removal of the Base44 badge, private apps that only invited people can open, in-app code edits and longer analytics ranges. For a public site or a small internal tool, that is often enough. Running through Free's 25 message credits a month is usually the push, since Starter raises the allowance to 100 a month, and our guide to the Free plan's limits shows how far Free stretches first.

Moving from Starter to Builder adds $24 a month billed annually ($288 a year) or $30 a month billed monthly ($360 a year), by our arithmetic. The step brings 150 more message credits and 8,000 more integration credits a month, plus AI model select, GitHub sync and ZIP export, backend functions, connectors, workflows, payments through Base44 Payments or Stripe, and App Store and Google Play files. Most business apps need Builder. One caveat travels with export: the code still calls Base44's backend through its SDK, which Base44 does not let you self-host.

From Builder to Pro the extra is $40 a month billed annually ($480 a year) or $50 a month billed monthly ($600 a year), by our arithmetic, for 250 more message credits, 10,000 more integration credits, early access to beta features and the AI Visibility tab. Pro is mostly more credits. From Pro to Elite the extra is $80 a month billed annually ($960 a year) or $100 a month billed monthly ($1,200 a year), by our arithmetic, adding 700 message credits, 30,000 integration credits, premium support and seven days of app-data backups. Elite buys headroom.

Billing rules to read before checkout

Paid credits reset once a month on your subscription day, and whatever is left expires. Nothing rolls over, except a one-cycle carryover when you upgrade from a monthly plan to a higher monthly plan. Base44 does not publish a way to buy extra credits outside a plan. When the builder runs dry, credit-using actions pause until the reset or an upgrade; when the app runs dry, its built-in actions fail while pages and the database keep working. Base44 offers no free trial of its paid plans; the Free plan plays that role.

Upgrades take effect immediately and charge the saved card without a checkout page, while downgrades and cancellations wait for the end of the billing period. There is no pause option. Plans are non-refundable under Base44's Terms; its help center says Customer Care may approve a prorated refund, minus processing fees, for a mistaken purchase or special circumstances [3]. Our cancellation walkthrough covers what happens to apps afterwards.

⚠️
Watch out
Unused credits vanish each month

Credits expire at every monthly reset on both billing terms, and Base44 publishes no way to buy extra credits outside a plan.

Renewals repeat the same term at the then-current price, without earlier promotional discounts, and the Terms let Base44 charge up to three weeks before a renewal starts [4]. The same Terms limit paid accounts to trade, business or professional use, while the Free plan may also serve personal projects. Hobbyists should stay on Free. Read the renewal date twice.

Where rival price models differ

Lovable's Pro plan with 100 credits costs $25 per month billed monthly or $250 a year billed annually. Lovable rolls unused monthly plan credits over for a limited time, since they expire two months after issue on monthly plans and one month after the annual period ends on annual plans, and it sells top-ups on Pro at $15 per 50 credits. Base44's credits expire at each monthly reset instead, and Base44 does not publish a way to buy extra credits outside a plan. A Lovable credit and a Base44 message credit are not equivalent units, so compare what each allowance builds; our Base44 vs Lovable comparison runs that head to head.

Replit's Core plan is $20 per month billed monthly or $18 per month billed annually. Emergent's Standard plan is $20 per month billed monthly or $17 per month billed annually, with 100 credits a month and extra credits for sale. Bolt.new's Pro plan starts at $25 per month billed monthly or $18 per month billed yearly for 10M tokens a month, and paid Bolt plans keep unused tokens for up to two months while subscribed. Base44's credits expire at each monthly reset. Base44 also splits its allowance into two pools, message credits for building and integration credits for what the app runs.

Frequently asked questions

How can I pay for a Base44 plan?+

Base44 accepts major credit and debit cards (Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover). PayPal, bank transfers and crypto are not supported; Enterprise customers can pay by invoice or ACH transfer.

Are Base44 prices different in the iPhone or Android app?+

Apple sets App Store prices, which can differ from the website, and the academic discount does not apply there. Google Play sells only Starter, Builder and Pro, and such subscriptions are refunded and canceled through Apple or Google.

Does Base44 add sales tax or VAT?+

Yes, where required. The Terms say fees exclude VAT and sales tax, which are added on top of the plan price depending on where you are.

Is there a discount for students or startups?+

Students, teachers and staff at accredited schools get 50% off Starter or Builder after verifying a school email; it applies to the first paid subscription, must be claimed while still on Free, covers personal subscriptions only (not team workspace billing), and lasts up to 12 months on a monthly plan or the first year on an annual plan before the standard rate applies. Base44 for Startups offers, subject to eligibility, a free year of Pro to founders backed by a participating VC or accelerator, and independent founders can apply for a free year of Builder, subject to approval.

The bottom line

Base44 pricing is simple on the card and strict underneath. You pay one workspace price, the annual rate is 20% lower, and the credits arrive monthly whichever term you pick, then expire. Free is enough to judge the builder. Starter fits a public site that needs its own domain. Builder is the honest starting point for an app that takes payments, syncs to GitHub or runs backend logic. Pay annually only past the nine-month line, and size the plan on the integration credits your users will burn, not only the message credits you spend building.
