To cancel Base44, the workspace owner opens the settings of the workspace that carries the paid plan and cancels the subscription there, or asks Support to turn off auto-renewal. Nobody else can do it. Canceling stops the next renewal but refunds nothing for the current period: you keep full access until the billing period ends, then the workspace drops to the Free plan with at most 5 published apps, no working custom domain and no payments [1]. Your data stays put. A plan bought through the Apple App Store or Google Play is canceled with Apple or Google instead. Deleting the whole account is a separate, permanent step with its own seven-day clock, covered in the last section.
Use the paid weeks to save what you will need
The time between canceling and the period end is the last stretch with paid features switched on, so treat it as a packing window. Code export is the first thing to check. Downloading the app as a ZIP or syncing it to GitHub needs the Builder plan or higher, and once the workspace sits on Free those options are gone. The ZIP holds a React and Vite project with the frontend, backend functions and the data structure. It does not hold your data, secrets, app users or version history, and the code still calls Base44's backend through its SDK, which Base44 does not let you self-host.
That means the records themselves need a separate trip. The app dashboard exports each table as a CSV file, and a search or filter that is switched on limits the export to matching rows, so clear filters before you download. Custom analytics events and Superagent data tables also export as CSV. Keep a copy even though the data stays in the workspace after the downgrade: the Terms say Base44 does not guarantee continued access to stored data once an account is terminated, and data exported earlier is kept at your own risk.
Credits are the second item. Unused credits expire when the plan ends and do not roll over, so spend the balance on the fixes you still want before the period closes. Then list what depends on paid features. Connectors, MCP connections and backend-function APIs may stop working below Builder, and creating or editing a custom OpenAPI integration needs Builder or higher, while built-in integrations such as email and AI calls remain. If you run more than 5 apps, decide now which 5 should stay published.
ZIP export and GitHub sync need the Builder plan or higher, so download the code and each table's CSV before the workspace drops to Free. The code export leaves out data, secrets, app users and version history.
The cancellation steps
Billing sits with one person. Only the owner can buy, change or cancel the plan; even on an Enterprise plan (Business or Enterprise), the only plans with an Admin role, admins manage members and settings but not billing. So the steps below start with the owner's login. If several people share a workspace, agree on the date first: once the period ends, every member loses the paid features at the same moment, because the whole team draws on one plan and one credit pool.
- Sign in as the owner of the workspace whose plan you want to end.
- Open that workspace's settings. Each workspace has its own plan, so a second workspace you own keeps billing until you cancel it separately.
- Cancel the subscription in the plan area of those settings, which turns off auto-renewal. If the option is missing or you get stuck, open a ticket and ask Support to cancel for you.
- Keep the confirmation. Until the cycle ends, the Reactivate Plan option undoes the cancellation, and while one is pending you cannot buy the same plan again.
Workspaces on a custom Enterprise contract see no cancel option at all and must contact the Base44 team. Timing matters more than the clicks. Base44 may attempt the renewal charge up to three weeks before the new period begins, and the Terms make a renewal charge non-refundable once that term starts [2]. Cancel at least three weeks ahead of the renewal date to be safe.
There is no pause button. If the problem is cost rather than the product, a downgrade to a lower plan is the gentler route: it takes effect at the end of the current billing period, and Cancel Change reverts it while it is pending. One direction is closed, though. A yearly plan cannot be switched to a monthly one, so leaving a yearly plan means riding out the year or canceling.
Plans bought through Apple or Google
A subscription started in the Base44 mobile app through the Apple App Store or Google Play belongs to that store. Cancellation and any refund request go through Apple or Google, not Base44's settings page. A plan can live on only one platform at a time, so check where yours was bought before you hunt for a cancel option on the website. Google Play sells only the Starter, Builder and Pro plans, and Apple sets its own App Store prices, which can differ from the website's.
Disputing a Base44 charge with your bank moves the workspace to Free, makes plan credits unavailable and disables custom domains, and the Terms allow blocking the account without the option to buy again.
What the workspace keeps after the drop to Free
| Item | After the paid period ends |
|---|---|
| Published apps | Up to 5 stay published; with more, you pick 5 and the rest are unpublished, not deleted |
| Custom domains | Stop working on your apps |
| Domain bought through Base44 | Stays registered to the end of its yearly cycle; renewal works on Free, connecting it needs Starter or higher |
| Payments | Apps can no longer take payments |
| Backend functions, connectors, model choice | Stop |
| Built-in integrations | Remain, paid from Free's integration credits |
| App data | Stays in the workspace |
| Unused paid credits | Expire |
Two bills can outlive the plan. A business email bought through Base44 is a separate subscription that keeps billing and auto-renewing after a cancellation or downgrade, and it is non-refundable, so cancel it on its own if you no longer need it. Domains also renew automatically each year and are billed separately from the plan, with no refunds once registered.
The Free plan itself is thinner than many teams expect. Only the personal workspace created at sign-up gets the 25 free message credits a month, capped at 5 a day; any other workspace on Free gets integration credits only, so a team workspace that drops to Free keeps up to 5 apps published but cannot keep building with the AI. Our guide to what Base44's Free plan covers lists the rest of its limits.
Refunds: what the Terms allow
Base44 plans are non-refundable under its Terms, and Base44 publishes no refund window or money-back guarantee. Its help center adds one opening: Customer Care may approve a prorated refund, minus processing fees, for a mistaken purchase or special circumstances. That is a discretionary review, not a right, so a ticket should state plainly what was bought by mistake and when. Credits spent on failed, buggy or unsatisfying AI output are not refunded either; Version History is the documented way to undo a bad change. Refund amounts can also shift with currency and third-party fees.
The annual term is where cancellation hurts most. Builder at $40 per month billed annually is, by our arithmetic, one $480 charge a year, and it stays spent if you stop in month three; you simply keep access until the year runs out. Nine months of Builder at $50 per month billed monthly costs $450 by our arithmetic, so anyone unsure about lasting nine months pays less on the monthly term. The Base44 pricing guide runs the same threshold for every plan.
Israeli residents are the exception. A residents addendum in the Terms treats Starter and Builder as open-ended subscriptions they can cancel at any time, effective within three days of notice, or six business days by registered mail. Monthly plans get the prepaid prorated period back minus the legal cancellation fee; annual plans get the unused portion back, less the difference versus the monthly price for the time used and net of processor fees. Cancellation runs through the link in the account or registered mail to Wix.com Ltd. in Tel Aviv. Outside Israel, none of this applies.
Customer Care may approve a prorated refund minus processing fees only for a mistaken purchase or special circumstances, so state what was bought by mistake and when. Plans are otherwise non-refundable under the Terms.
Deleting the account for good
Canceling keeps your account; deletion ends it. Base44 asks you to cancel active subscriptions before it will delete an account, and the order matters: deletion is scheduled 7 days after the request, and a subscription that renews inside those 7 days is still charged unless you canceled first [3]. You can withdraw the request until processing begins. Members of a workspace on the Enterprise plan cannot delete their own account; the organization's admin manages it.
When deletion completes, the account and everything it owns disappear permanently: apps with their data, owned workspaces and uploaded files. Nothing can be restored. Any remaining subscriptions are canceled with no refunds, and connected domains are released so others can claim them. Workspaces cannot be deleted on their own; a workspace goes only when its owner deletes the account. Deletion also triggers removal of personal data at sub-processors such as SendGrid and Stripe without a separate request, though Base44 may keep data the law requires. If you only want one app gone, delete the app instead. It sits in Recently deleted for 30 days, then disappears even for Customer Care.
Frequently asked questions
What happens to my Superagent when I cancel Base44?+
It keeps working and nothing is deleted, and it does not count toward Free's 5-app limit. On Free it uses the Free plan's credits (message credits only in your personal workspace: 25 a month, at most 5 a day), and stops replying when they run out until they reset. Its phone number is released when the plan drops below Builder, and its webhooks stop until you upgrade to Builder or higher again.
Do I keep my Base44 student discount if I cancel?+
No. The 50% student and educator discount applies only to a personal Starter or Builder plan as the first paid subscription, claimed while on Free, for up to 12 months on monthly billing or the first year on annual billing, after which the plan renews at the standard rate. Canceling loses it, it cannot be reactivated afterwards, and a later upgrade to a higher plan is charged at the standard rate.
Can I restore an app I deleted before canceling?+
Yes, within 30 days from Recently deleted. The data, pages, source files and chat history come back, but custom domains, integration connections, automations, workflows and Google Ads campaigns must be set up again.
Who can cancel if the workspace owner has left the company?+
Only the workspace owner can buy, change or cancel the plan; on an Enterprise plan (Business or Enterprise), the only plans with an Admin role, admins manage members and settings but not billing. If the owner cannot sign in to cancel, open a ticket with Base44 Support, since the Terms also let Support turn off auto-renewal.
The bottom line
Canceling Base44 is quick for the owner and slow in its effects. Turn off renewal at least three weeks before the renewal date, export code and CSV data while paid features still work, and expect no refund unless Customer Care approves one for a mistaken purchase or special circumstances, or you are an Israeli resident on Starter or Builder. After the period ends, the workspace keeps up to 5 published apps and its data on Free. Delete the account only after the subscriptions are gone, because the seven-day wait does not stop a renewal.
