HeyGen's pricing page lists Free at $0, Creator at $29 a month billed monthly or $24 a month billed yearly ($288 a year), Pro from $49 a month billed monthly or $41 a month billed yearly ($488 a year), and Business at $149 a month billed monthly or $119 a month billed yearly ($1,428 a year) for the first seat.[1] Credits, not the plan price, decide how much video you get. By our arithmetic, 600 Creator credits buy about 19 minutes of Avatar IV with a video look. Solo buyers belong on Creator or a Pro tier. Business pays off for shared workspaces, or when you need its gates.

About these prices

Prices shown are what HeyGen lists for visitors in the United States, in US dollars. Your price can differ by country, currency and local taxes such as VAT.

The Free plan is a test drive, not a production tier. You get up to three watermarked videos a month, each up to one minute, plus one Digital Twin and one voice clone, and those videos use no credits. The licence is the real limit: Free output is for personal, non-commercial use only, so no ads, client work or monetized channels. Commercial work starts at Creator. No self-serve trial of a paid plan exists. Our guide to what the Free plan allows covers the rest.

Creator removes the watermark, exports at 1080p, allows 30-minute videos and up to 40 voice clones, with limited Avatar V usage. Pro adds 4K, Proofread for translation scripts, Seedance 2.0 and 2.5, and up to 70 clones. Business adds 60-minute videos, SAML/SSO, SCORM export, twice the concurrency of Pro and the only web credit top-ups. Enterprise runs on annual terms with SCIM, sub-workspaces and invoice billing. Pick by minutes, not plans.

Pro is one plan with ten credit levels

HeyGen's pricing page lists Pro as one plan whose features never change; only the credits do, from 1,000 to 100,000 a month, and you can switch tiers any time. HeyGen's pricing page lists the 3,000-credit tier at $149 a month billed monthly or $124 a month billed yearly ($1,488 a year), and the 100,000-credit tier at $4,300 a month billed monthly or $3,586 a month billed yearly ($43,030 a year). By our arithmetic, volume barely lowers the unit price: about $0.048 a credit on Creator, $0.049 on the entry Pro tier and $0.043 at the top.

The bigger trap sits between Pro and Business. A solo user needing 30 minutes of Avatar V a month burns 1,440 credits (30 × 48), which fits the 1,500-credit Pro tier at $74 a month billed monthly. Business carries the same 1,500 credits at $149 a month for its first seat. That is about double for one person. Extra seats add no credits either: a five-person Business workspace billed monthly costs $229 a month ($149 plus four seats at $20) and still shares 1,500 credits. Seats buy access, not output. Credits stay flat. Pay for Business when SSO, SCORM, 60-minute videos or collaboration is required.

What your credits buy, engine by engine

HeyGen's help center prices most video features in credits per minute of output, and the engine you choose moves the bill more than the plan does.[2] Always check which engine and which look a video uses before you render it, because the same script can cost twelve times more on one engine than on another. These are the current rates:

Run 600 Creator credits through those rates and the spread is wide. By our arithmetic, they cover about 150 minutes of Avatar III with a video look, about 19 minutes of Avatar IV with a video look, or 7.5 minutes of Standard Video Agent. Avatar V would take about 12 minutes, but Creator's Avatar V usage is limited. Translation multiplies by language: a five-minute video into five languages is 25 billable minutes, or 150 credits on Speed. Video Agent shows an estimate before rendering, and failed or cancelled videos are never charged.

Toolkit tip
Price the engine, not the plan

Multiply the minutes you need by the engine's per-minute credit rate, then pick the smallest plan or Pro tier that covers the total.

The billing rules that change the real cost

Monthly or yearly billing

By our arithmetic, Creator billed monthly for a year costs $348 against $288 billed yearly, Pro 1,000 costs $588 against $488, and Business costs $1,788 against $1,428. On all three plans the break-even is ten months: nine monthly payments still cost less than the yearly bill. Yearly also treats credits better, since annual credits accumulate until renewal while monthly credits roll over one extra billing cycle. Refunds are possible only case by case, so commit yearly when you expect to stay ten months.

Top-ups and mobile billing

Cancelling to Free wipes unused credits, and pausing deletes the whole balance before the plan resumes automatically after about 30 days. On the web, only Business buys extra credits, in packs of 100 for $5 or by auto-reload.[3] On the web, Creator users who run dry must upgrade; HeyGen's help example charges $20 to move from Creator to Pro mid-cycle and adds 400 credits at once. On mobile, four weeks of weekly Creator cost about $40, store-billed credits expire after 30 days, and one-time top-ups last 12 months but cost more per credit than Pro.

⚠️
Watch out
Pausing wipes your credits

A pause drops you to Free, deletes the whole credit balance and restarts billing automatically after about 30 days.

Renewal, cancellation and legacy plans

Payments are generally non-refundable except where law requires.[4] HeyGen may consider a request within 15 days for web and Google Play purchases, or 14 days on the App Store, and part-used months are not paid back. Plans renew automatically at the then-current price, and removing an add-on with the general cancel control can end the whole plan; our cancellation guide walks the steps. The old Unlimited and Team plans are no longer sold, though HeyGen's comparison pages still quote them. Holders keep one while it stays active. Cancelling it or switching to a current plan is permanent: the legacy plan cannot be bought back.

Add-ons, the API and LiveAvatar sit outside the plans

HeyGen's pricing page lists an extra Custom Video Avatar slot at $29 a month or $288 a year, and HeyGen's help center says slot pricing can vary by account age and region. HeyGen's help center lists the Professional Voice Clone add-on, on a paid plan, at $29 a month or $288 a year per voice; its uploads have no consent step, while every Digital Twin needs an on-camera consent clip. HeyGen's pricing page lists a 4K studio avatar for Enterprise at $1,000 a year. Plan credits never pay for automation connectors such as Zapier, n8n, HubSpot or Clay, which need API credits, while Remote MCP over OAuth uses plan credits at no extra charge.

The API is a separate prepaid wallet: you start with $5, purchased API credits expire after 12 months, and HeyGen's help center says monthly free API credits ended in February 2026. HeyGen's blog posts (Oct 2026) say Avatar V costs $0.05 per second through the API. Our API guide covers the other rates. LiveAvatar, the real-time streaming avatar, is a separate platform with its own plans and credits, though you sign in with the same HeyGen account. Its Free plan allows 2-minute test sessions. Its paid plans start at $99 a month for Essential, a second budget that no HeyGen plan covers.

💡
Toolkit tip
Solo users rarely need Business

A one-person Pro tier with 1,500 credits costs about half of Business's first seat for the same 1,500 credits. Pay for Business only if you need SSO, SCORM, 60-minute videos or web top-ups.

How the price compares with Synthesia and Descript

Synthesia's pricing page lists Starter at $29 a month billed monthly or $18 a month billed yearly, with 1,250 credits a month that do not roll over. Synthesia says Starter yields about 22 minutes of typical video a month: 10 minutes included on every plan, plus about 12 from credits. By our arithmetic, HeyGen Creator's 600 credits give about 19 minutes of Avatar IV with a video look, about 150 of Avatar III with a video look, or about 12 of Avatar V within Creator's limited usage. The engine decides the winner. Synthesia keeps SCORM for Enterprise. HeyGen offers it from Business.

Descript charges per Editor seat, with its Creator plan at $24 a month billed annually or $35 a month billed monthly, per person. It is an edit-by-transcript recorder and editor, not an avatar-first generator. Different job, different meter. The fair comparison is the job. If you need a presenter who never faces a camera, HeyGen's credits are the meter to model. If you film real people and polish the footage, a per-seat editor fits better and engine rates stop mattering.

The bottom line

HeyGen's pricing is simple on the card and complex in the credits. Start from the minutes you need on a named engine, multiply by its per-minute rate, and pick the smallest plan or Pro tier that covers the total. For one person, that means Creator or Pro, unless you need SCORM, SSO, videos over 30 minutes or web credit top-ups, which start at Business. For a team that needs a shared workspace, Business is the only self-serve answer, and its seats bring no credits. Bill yearly only if you will stay ten months, avoid pausing, and budget the API separately.
