Most buyers who look past Lovable want one of three fixes: a bill they can predict, a human when something breaks, or an app in the App Store. Lovable charges per workspace in credits, from Pro with 100 credits at $25 per month billed monthly or $21 per month billed annually [1], and building spends them, including attempts that fail. It ships web apps only. Replit is the strongest switch for native iPhone apps. Base44 is the closest like-for-like builder and adds store files from its Builder plan up, with your own developer accounts. Bolt.new and Emergent meter the agent differently. Framer, Claude, v0 and Cursor cover narrower jobs. None is a free upgrade.
What pushes Lovable users to compare
The bill is the first reason. One Lovable credit balance pays for building, Cloud hosting, AI features inside your app and managed connectors, so people visiting a live app spend the owner's credits. Build mode is billed on the work done with no estimate up front, Plan mode costs 1 credit per message plus any subagent research, and output you throw away is still charged. Free, Pro and Business workspaces get 5 build credits a day, but Free stops at 30 a month (as do some regional paid plans). When the agent loops on a stubborn bug, retries are paid once the account's 10 free Try to fix uses are spent. The full credit rules sit in our Lovable pricing guide.
Support and mobile come next. Free workspaces get community channels only, Pro adds email support and Business adds priority support. Lovable aims to send a first reply within 24 hours, mainly on weekdays, and that target counts the reply rather than the fix. There is no phone or live chat. Mobile is a harder wall. Lovable builds responsive web apps and installable PWAs, never App Store or Google Play packages, so a store listing means wrapping the published URL with Capacitor yourself, outside Lovable, with your own developer accounts.
The review platforms we read lean favorable, so this is no exodus from a broken product. Negative reviews on Trustpilot most often cite credits running out, support and price. Read that as a map of complaints, not a trend. It still earns its place, because it tells you which change to shop for: a different billing unit, a different support tier, or a different kind of output. Lovable also offers no free trial of Pro or Business, so its Free plan is the only test you get before paying.
Lovable Free grants 5 build credits a day, up to 30 a month; Base44 Free grants 25 message credits a month, at most 5 a day. Build the same small app on each before paying for either.
Base44, the nearest swap
Base44 works the way Lovable does: you prompt, the agent builds a hosted app with its own backend, and a workspace pays in monthly credits. Its backend runs a NoSQL database, where Lovable Cloud runs PostgreSQL. The gates fall elsewhere, too. Base44 Starter costs $20 per month billed monthly or $16 per month billed annually and unlocks a custom domain, badge removal and private apps. GitHub sync, connectors, payments, backend functions and model choice wait for Builder, at $50 per month billed monthly or $40 per month billed annually [2]. From Builder up, Base44 also produces App Store and Google Play files with push notifications; you still need your own Apple and Google developer accounts.
Do not line up credit counts. A Base44 message credit and a Lovable credit are different units, so compare plans at the same price and term instead. Base44 Builder costs $50 per month billed monthly. Lovable Pro with 200 credits also costs $50 per month billed monthly. Which one builds more depends on your prompts, so push one small app through both free plans first. Two Base44 terms cut the other way: its credits expire at the monthly reset with no top-ups to buy, and it keeps data out of AI training only on its sales-led Enterprise plan. Lovable rolls unused Pro and Business credits over for a limited window, excludes Business workspaces from training by default and lets Free and Pro users opt out. Our Base44 vs Lovable comparison goes plan by plan.
Replit, for native iPhone apps and free building time
Replit is the alternative that changes the mobile answer. Its agent builds native iOS apps with Expo, compiles them in the cloud and submits them to App Store Connect for TestFlight review, provided your account is enrolled in the Apple Developer Program. Billing changes too. Replit prices agent work by effort and asks for confirmation before a paid action starts, while its Free Mode builds without spending credits on an allowance that refreshes every five hours, with a weekly limit, on Core and Pro. Replit Core costs $20 per month billed monthly or $18 per month billed annually [3].
The trade-offs are concrete. Replit Pro with $100 of credits costs $100 per month billed monthly or $90 per month billed annually, with larger credit options above it, and Replit says it charges no per-user fees for up to 15 builders sharing pooled credits. Production databases bill separately for compute and storage, at $0.16 per compute hour, and a Reserved VM starts at $15 per month. The free Starter plan publishes one app whose link expires after 30 days. SAML SSO needs Replit Enterprise, whereas Lovable puts SSO on Business. Replit uses prompts and responses to improve its models; Pro users can opt out. Our Lovable vs Replit breakdown weighs the two side by side.
Git sync exports Lovable code on any plan, but database records, stored files, auth settings and secrets do not travel with it, and Replit's GitHub import of a Lovable project arrives without Supabase data or secrets. Plan the data move before you cancel.
Bolt.new and Emergent, metered another way
Bolt.new
Bolt.new meters in tokens rather than credits. Its Free plan grants 1 million tokens a month with a 300,000 daily limit and keeps Bolt branding on sites. Bolt.new Pro costs $25 per month billed monthly, drops the daily limit, starts at 10 million tokens a month and adds a custom domain [4]. Paid tokens stay usable for up to two months while you subscribe. The catch is seats. Bolt.new Teams costs $30 per member per month billed monthly, and tokens are not shared between members. A Lovable workspace, by contrast, carries no seat charge on any plan.
Emergent
Emergent also sells credits. Its Free plan includes 10 credits a month. Emergent Standard costs $20 per month billed monthly or $17 per month on annual billing, with 100 credits a month, private hosting, GitHub integration and the option to buy extra credits. Emergent Pro costs $200 per month billed monthly or $167 per month on annual billing for 750 credits and priority support. Counting credits across two vendors tells you little, so price a sample app on each. Emergent's Enterprise tier lists self-hosted database support and VPC deployment, which matters when a security team wants the backend inside its own network. The Lovable editor cannot be self-hosted.
Smaller tools for narrower jobs
Framer
If your Lovable project is really a marketing site, Framer is the website-first option. Its Free plan includes 500 AI credits to try, a Framer domain and 1 GB of bandwidth, and a custom domain needs a paid plan. Framer Basic costs $10 per month and Framer Pro $30 per month as shown on the yearly billing toggle, with extra editors at $20 per seat. Lovable's own comparison says Framer has no native auth or database. Check that with Framer before you rely on it.
Claude
Some buyers leave the builder layer entirely. Claude Pro costs $20 per month billed monthly or $17 per month billed annually, and Claude Code comes with every paid Claude plan. Lovable says it runs on Claude among its models, so the reasoning engine is related. What changes is the workflow. You work with the code directly instead of through a hosted builder with a publish button. Claude Team states that it does not train on your content by default.
v0, Cursor and Bubble
Three more names come up often, and we print no prices for them here. v0 from Vercel has a free plan with a 7-message daily limit, deploys to Vercel and syncs with GitHub; its Business plan opts out of training by default. Lovable's guides call v0 frontend-only and describe Cursor as a VS Code fork with no hosting or backend, an AI code editor for people who already write code. Bubble appears in Lovable's comparisons as a builder without code export, and Bubble's own manual agrees: apps cannot be exported as code, only their data (see Bubble vs Lovable). Treat Lovable's other claims about these tools as a competitor's and check them with each vendor.
Bolt.new Teams charges per member and does not share tokens, while Lovable charges per workspace with unlimited users on paid plans. A team of five changes the maths: on Bolt.new each member pays and gets own tokens, on Lovable all five share one workspace's credits.
Frequently asked questions
Can I bring an app from another builder into Lovable?+
Yes. Since October 2026 Lovable imports ZIP exports from Replit, Bolt, Base44, v0 and other tools, rebuilds the app on TanStack Start and moves data and users to Lovable Cloud; the first import per account and workspace is free up to a working preview; exporting a ZIP from Base44 needs its Builder plan or higher, and running the imported data and users uses Cloud credits. Imported users verify their email and set a new password at their next sign-in.
Does a Lovable app keep running if I cancel to switch tools?+
Published apps stay live after a downgrade to Free, but apps that use the built-in backend or AI features still need available credits to serve requests. On Free, a project can be unpublished after 12 months with no visits, no owner login and no custom domain.
Which of these tools keep my content out of AI training by default?+
Lovable excludes Business and Enterprise workspaces by default, and Free or Pro users can opt out in account settings. v0 Business and Claude Team state no training by default, Replit handles Enterprise content under its Enterprise agreement, and Base44 excludes data only on its Enterprise plan.
The bottom line
Pick by the fix you need. Replit suits native iPhone apps and a Free Mode that leaves credits alone; Base44 keeps the same prompt-to-app flow and adds store files from Builder up; Bolt.new or Emergent fit if a different meter suits your team; Framer covers sites; Claude, Cursor or v0 suit people who would rather own the code from day one. Stay with Lovable if you want a web app on a built-in PostgreSQL backend, unlimited users per workspace and Git sync on every plan, and you are willing to watch build spend through per-member limits and credit check-ins, and app usage through usage limits and alerts.
