What Enterprise adds on top of Advanced

Sprout Social sells four public plans and a fifth tier that has no price on the page. Enterprise is custom priced through a demo, and it sits on top of Advanced rather than beside it [1]. What it adds is service, not a new feature set: white-glove onboarding and implementation, a tailored plan, a dedicated SSO setup service and priority customer support. Everything functional that a large team needs, from the API to cases, chatbots and helpdesk integrations, already lives on Advanced. That plan costs $399 per seat a month billed annually, or $499 billed monthly.

That framing helps a procurement lead. You are not buying a different product, so the security file, the contract and the feature checks are the same ones an Advanced customer gets. What you negotiate is the plan shape, the onboarding work and the support level. The dedicated SSO service matters more than it sounds. Self-service SSO setup is open to users with the Manage SSO permission once SSO is enabled for the account, but Sprout Support does not provide full-service SSO configuration. Large teams with a complex identity setup are exactly who needs that help.

Sprout pitches its enterprise page around Social CRM, Team Reports, Message Tagging, CRM and helpdesk integrations, Bot Builder and Case Assignment. Reports there support custom date ranges and visualizations, shareable links (which need the Premium Analytics add-on) and recurring delivery. The company says more than 30,000 brands use it. The question for a large buyer is rarely whether the features exist. It is whether governance, care operations and the contract hold up at scale.

The security file your vendor review will ask for

Sprout keeps its compliance documents in a Customer Trust Portal hosted on Conveyor, with FAQs, audit reports, certifications and an AI agent for security questions [2]. The badges shown include SOC 2 Type II, ISO 27001, ISO 27701, PCI, CSA, HECVAT, VPAT, GDPR, CCPA, PIPEDA and the EU-US, UK-US and Swiss-US Data Privacy Frameworks. The quick summary lists annual penetration testing, a disaster recovery plan, cyber insurance and willingness to sign a DPA. Read the labels precisely. CSA STAR Level 1 is an alignment with the Cloud Controls Matrix, not a certification, and as a merchant, Sprout's PCI DSS compliance comes from a SAQ A self-assessment, with card data handled by PCI Level 1 processors. For Guardian's Secure Forms it acts as a PCI service provider, with attestations validated annually.

The subprocessor list has 19 entries, starting with AWS as the hosting provider. Every listed subprocessor shows the United States as its processing location, and Google Cloud provides backup hosting. OpenAI is listed for the OpenAI-powered AI features, which can be disabled in Settings. On data location, the privacy policy says Sprout has servers in the United States and the European Economic Area. EU and UK transfers rely on Standard Contractual Clauses and the Data Privacy Frameworks.

Two more items belong in the file too. Sprout targets 99.9 percent uptime as an engineering KPI, but its security page does not present that as a contractual SLA. Its incident response follows NIST phases and ISO 27001 requirements. The trust portal summary adds that customer data is deleted on request and that employee access to systems runs through centralized SSO. Ask for any uptime commitment in writing.

Identity and access: SSO, SCIM and roles

Sprout supports SAML 2.0 single sign-on on web and mobile, with OneLogin, Google, Okta and Azure AD supported directly and any SAML 2.0 provider expected to work. It does not support OpenID Connect or WS-Federation. Since November 1, 2025, a valid unexpired SAML signing certificate is required, and an expired certificate locks users out of SSO until a new one is uploaded. New email domains stay pending until verified with a DNS TXT record. A password allowlist lets named users log in with a password while everyone else must use SSO.

Multifactor authentication has been mandatory for all users since April 15, 2025. Without two-step verification or SSO, an email one-time passcode is the default, and the Account Owner can require authenticator-app verification for everyone. Users who belong to several Sprout accounts default to two-step verification if any one of those accounts requires it. MFA cannot simply be switched off. Support will only look at accommodations for a user who cannot use any of the alternatives.

SCIM and Multi-Role

SCIM provisioning for Okta and Microsoft Entra ID reached general availability in September 2026. It has prerequisites. SSO must already be configured [3], and SCIM needs Organizational Roles and Profile Permission Sets, so the Multi-Role migration has to be finished first. Roles, both Legacy and Multi-Role, are an Advanced feature. Entra provisions only direct group members, not nested groups, and syncs about every 40 minutes. Okta changes usually land within a minute. SCIM stops provisioning when no seats remain, and Sprout stores only name, email and username from it.

Dynamic Role Sync is the lighter option. It assigns a Sprout role from identity-provider groups at each SSO login, overriding roles set in the app, but it must be switched on by a support ticket and cannot de-provision anyone. It works with a single identity-provider configuration only. For 200 or more users, Sprout recommends an assisted Multi-Role migration with a CSM or Professional Services consultant.

The audit trail logs over fifty event types and exports as CSV with the acting user's IP address and location. Downloading it needs the Manage Permissions permission. Changes to the AI integration setting, case deletions and report edits are logged, and a separate export shows who created, changed or deleted automated rules. Mobile sign-outs are not captured, and some events depend on your plan. Run the export monthly. It is the record auditors will ask for.

Guardian, data masking and the EU data center

Regulated teams will hear about Guardian. It is a paid add-on with no published price, requested through an interest form, and Sprout says financial services, healthcare and government brands use it. It bundles Blocked Words, Data Masking and Secure Forms. Masking covers direct and private messages on Facebook, Instagram, X, WhatsApp and LinkedIn, with credit card, email, phone and social security numbers masked by default. Admins can add custom data types with regular expressions. Sprout says masking uses AI plus pattern recognition and is not foolproof, so it reduces exposure rather than guaranteeing it.

Secure Forms collect personal data with PCI-compliant payment protection, and a PHI field type arrived in December 2025 for healthcare brands. That is a feature, not a legal status. Your compliance team still decides what the account may handle. Guardian safeguards also extend to Employee Advocacy, and blocked-word attempts are recorded in the audit trail. Preset profanity lists exist in English, French, Portuguese and Spanish.

⚠️
Watch out
Masking is not a guarantee

Guardian data masking uses AI plus pattern recognition and Sprout says it is not foolproof. Treat it as a safeguard, and keep your own rules on what the account may handle.

European teams should check the EU data center option against the feature list before signing. Bluesky publishing and Post Drilldowns are not available to EU data center customers. Small gaps, but they surprise people after migration. A separate rule touches every account with European audiences: Instagram Story Reply metrics exclude users in the European Economic Area under EU ePrivacy rules, which can lower engagement figures. Explain that to regional teams early.

Running customer care at scale

Care is where Advanced earns its price for large brands. Cases turn messages into tracked work. Queues route them by Manual, Round Robin or Capacity-Based methods, and automatic assignment arrived in May 2024. Capacity-Based routing gives cases only to available agents with the fewest open cases. Care Agent Status shows each agent's status, time in status and open cases, but only in the web app and not for Salesforce users. Status changes are logged in the audit trail. Case Auto Close, chatbots, automated rules and Message Spike Alerts complete the toolkit. Sprout's retail page adds that SLAs can be tracked during peak seasons.

Helpdesk and CRM connections

The helpdesk integrations are Advanced only. Zendesk and Microsoft Dynamics 365 each allow up to 10 connected instances, and from Sprout you can create cases, contacts and leads in Dynamics 365. The Salesforce integration now carries the Agentforce Service name, formerly Service Cloud. An Agentforce add-on adds AI case summaries and contact history, but it needs Advanced, the Service Cloud integration and a separate Salesforce Agentforce subscription, with setup through a CSM or account executive. One gap: Reddit messages cannot be sent to Salesforce, Zendesk or HubSpot.

Toolkit tip
Finish Multi-Role before SCIM

SCIM provisioning needs SSO in place and Organizational Roles with Profile Permission Sets. Plan the role migration into onboarding, with assisted help for 200 or more users.

Standard support includes in-app chat, email and 24/5 phone support. Premier Success is a paid service with a guaranteed two-hour first reply, dedicated support agents, roadmap previews and consultants who build reports and share listening insights. Engagements follow five steps, from an introduction and a social assessment to an agreed plan with measurable outcomes, the work itself and regular check-ins. Its price comes from your account manager.

Listening, NewsWhip and what is sold separately

Do not assume the enterprise quote covers everything Sprout markets. Listening is an add-on for Standard and up, with no published price, and it is not available in trials. The enterprise page pitches it for share of voice and reactions to competitor launches, with trend alerts when volume or sentiment spikes. It includes Smart Categories, sentiment scoring and custom Spike Alerts. Premium Analytics and Employee Advocacy are add-ons too, also without public prices.

NewsWhip is a separate media-intelligence product sold through a demo. It forecasts public engagement up to 24 hours ahead and offers up to eight years of historical social and web data. Influencer Marketing, formerly Tagger, is another separate product that needs no Sprout plan. Each line is quoted separately; ask whether it is coterminous with the main plan and whether the same security documentation covers it. Track them separately.

Budgeting without a price list

Enterprise has no published price, so the useful anchor is the Advanced list rate, which the tier sits on top of. By our arithmetic, a 20-seat care and marketing team billed annually would pay $7,980 a month, or $95,760 a year, before any Enterprise services. On monthly billing the same seats come to $9,980 a month. A 50-seat organization billed annually would reach $19,950 a month, or $239,400 a year. Add-ons, Premier Success, Trellis Plus and WhatsApp overage come on top. Seat count drives everything.

Two buying routes can change the paperwork. Through AWS Marketplace, buyers can get a Private Offer, consolidate billing, pay in local currency and count the purchase toward an AWS Enterprise Discount Program commitment. Sprout is also piloting true-up billing for invited customers who pay by invoice. They add seats in the app and settle at month end, and seats cannot be removed after the true-up date.

Ask about AWS Marketplace

A Private Offer through AWS Marketplace can consolidate billing, use local currency and count toward an AWS Enterprise Discount Program commitment.

Invoiced plans renew automatically at the end of the term unless the Service Order says otherwise, and cancelling needs 30 days' written notice by email [4]. Renewal increases are capped at 7% unless Sprout gives at least 60 days' notice. There are no refunds on cancellation, downgrade or add-on removal; the only refund route is Sprout failing to cure a material breach within 30 days. Outages, including third-party network outages, bring no credit. Liability is capped at what you paid in the previous 12 months. Put the notice date in your calendar. Illinois law governs, and disputes go to binding arbitration.

Data handling deserves a clause of its own. The retention policy deletes paid subscriber data permanently 90 days after closure, but the Terms let Sprout remove content within 30 days of the end of the term, so export before the end date. The AI Features Terms, effective July 2026, let Sprout use customer AI inputs and outputs to train, develop and improve its AI features and services, during and after the contract term, while its AI providers may not. We found no opt-out on that page. Negotiate it if it matters to you.

Sprout's help center describes two vendor incidents: Salesloft Drift in September 2025 and Klue in June 2026. In both, the access reached Sprout's own Salesforce CRM data, such as business contact details. Sprout says no product or platform data was affected. After Drift it deactivated the integration and invalidated its access tokens. After Klue it reported follow-on phishing and extortion attempts. Brief your team on that.

Who already runs it at scale

The sector pages carry the customer evidence, all self-reported by Sprout. Honda US cut daily inbox time from about five hours to two with sentiment analysis. ScottsMiracle-Gro connected Sprout to Salesforce Service Cloud and reports 50 percent faster case resolution. Trello's support team reports a 16% increase in response rate, and one software customer is cited with 12,000 hours saved in its first year. Loews Hotels values seeing every social message, and every teammate's action, in one place, while Catalonia Hotels and Resorts says its community managers became more productive. Universities appear too, with the University of North Dakota citing a 119.6% rise in impressions.

Government buyers get a specific route. Sprout has an agreement with NASPO, which makes it an approved vendor of social media marketing tools for government entities. The government page also lists the SOC 2 Type 2 audit and both ISO certifications. Higher-education teams will note the HECVAT and VPAT badges in the trust portal. Sprout pitches chatbots and the Smart Inbox to universities for applicant, student and parent messages, with Spike Alerts and listening for campus crises.

How it compares with Hootsuite Enterprise

Hootsuite also sells a quote-only Enterprise tier. Its Advanced plan is $399 per user a month billed annually. The packaging differs. Hootsuite keeps SSO, its Advanced Inbox with SLAs, advanced listening powered by Talkwalker, the Salesforce integration and employee advocacy for Enterprise only. Sprout publishes no plan gate for SSO itself, puts cases and the Salesforce, Zendesk and Dynamics 365 integrations on Advanced, and adds services on Enterprise, including a dedicated SSO setup service.

On compliance, Hootsuite lists FedRAMP (Tailored Li-SaaS), TX-RAMP, ISO 27017 and a 99.9% uptime SLA for Enterprise, and its healthcare page calls the platform BAA-compliant. It hosts its core platform on AWS in the US, with Talkwalker listening on Hetzner. Public-sector and healthcare buyers should weigh that. Sprout counters with NASPO and Guardian. Neither is a FedRAMP substitute, and FedRAMP is not among the badges in Sprout's trust portal. Our Hootsuite review covers it in full, and the Sprout Social pricing guide covers the add-ons.

Frequently asked questions

Can we cancel a Sprout Social enterprise contract early?+

Generally not. Unless your Service Order says otherwise, invoiced plans renew automatically unless you give 30 days' written notice by email; cancellation or downgrade brings no refund, except a prorated refund if Sprout fails to cure a material breach within 30 days.

The bottom line

Sprout Social Enterprise is Advanced plus service: white-glove onboarding, a tailored plan, dedicated SSO setup and priority support, all at a quoted price. The platform underneath is strong for large teams, with SAML SSO, SCIM for Okta and Entra, Multi-Role permissions, an exportable audit trail, mature case routing and deep CRM links. Budget from the Advanced list rate of $399 per seat a month billed annually, treat Listening, Guardian, NewsWhip and Premier Success as separate lines, and send the trust portal and the AI terms to legal early. Then negotiate the renewal notice, the uptime commitment and AI training before you sign.
