Most Softr alternatives fix one specific limit, so the right pick depends on why you are leaving. Noloco, Pory and Zite count outside clients in their own ways. For code you can own, Lovable, Base44 and Replit generate it, while Softr exports none. For teams already inside Airtable, Interface Designer is available to every Airtable user, with some features such as permissions limited to certain tiers. Retool and Google AppSheet suit internal tools billed per builder or per employee, and Bubble or Base44 suit apps that must reach the app stores. For reference, Softr charges per workspace, and its Pro plan with 50 AI credits a month is $119 per month billed monthly or $99 per month billed annually [1]. Each rival swaps one limit for another.
Four limits that push Softr buyers to shop around
The usual trigger is the app-user count. Softr's Free plan allows 5 app users in total, and Basic stops at 5 Team users plus 5 Client users with no way to buy more [2]. Team users share a business email domain with one of your builders; anyone signing in with Gmail or another free domain is a Client user. On Pro, extra users cost $3 per Team user and $1 per Client user per month, while on Business they cost $5 and $2 per user per month, billed monthly even when the plan itself is paid yearly, after a 7-day grace period and only up to a per-plan limit. A growing client portal climbs the plans fast. Our Softr pricing breakdown shows every allowance.
Plan gates come second. An installable mobile app (PWA), push notifications, two-factor sign-in for app users and domain-restricted signup all start on Softr's Business plan, at $395 per month billed monthly or $329 per month billed annually. SSO, SCIM and audit logs wait for Enterprise, which has no public price. A buyer who needs one of those features on a small budget has good reason to check where each rival places it, because several put SSO at the top as well.
Ownership is the third. Softr does not generate an app codebase you can export: it has no code export and no self-hosting, and its Vibe Coding Block builds isolated custom components that live inside Softr; its own vibe-coding page tells anyone who needs the full codebase to pick a code-generating tool instead. Its apps are PWAs only, with no App Store or Google Play publishing on any plan and no offline use [3]. The fourth trigger is the price list itself. Softr moved new users to its current pricing in August 2024 while existing customers kept their plans, and Trustpilot complaints mention billing, support responsiveness and changes to older plans.
Ratings on the business-software review sites run somewhat higher than on Trustpilot, where those grievances cluster. Read the Trustpilot page as a map of complaints rather than a verdict. A few of its one-star entries describe shipping and a physical purchase, which points to a different product sharing the Softr name, not the app builder. The billing and older-plan complaints, though, are about this Softr.
| Your reason for leaving | Rivals that address it | What you give up |
|---|---|---|
| Client users get expensive | Noloco, Pory, Zite | Fewer sources on Noloco Free, one portal per Pory plan, record and workflow-run caps on Zite |
| You want the code | Lovable, Base44, Replit | Maintaining AI-written code |
| Your team lives in Airtable | Airtable Interface Designer | Seat-based billing for editors |
| You need app-store apps | Bubble, Base44, Replit | A Mobile or Web & Mobile plan on Bubble, the Builder plan on Base44; Replit is iOS only, with your own Apple account |
| Staff-only internal tools | Retool, Google AppSheet | Licenses for every employee |
Softr's vs pages and each rival's own comparison posts are vendor claims. Take a rival's prices and limits from that rival's own pricing page.
Staying inside Airtable with Interface Designer
If your Softr app already sits on an Airtable base, the nearest swap is the interface layer Airtable ships itself. Interface Designer is open to every Airtable user, though Airtable reserves some features, permissions among them, for certain price tiers. The billing logic runs the other way from Softr's workspace model. Airtable charges for each seat with edit rights on a base, with Team at $24 a seat per month billed monthly or $20 a seat per month billed annually, and Business at $54 or $45 a seat per month on the same terms.
The catch is outside users. Read-only collaborators, form submissions and share links are free on Airtable Team and Business, so a viewing-only audience adds nothing to the bill. Logged-in clients who edit records are another matter. In Softr's customer stories, Altitude Marketing, Strupek and Glitter describe leaving Interface Designer over permissions, branding or custom code; those are their own accounts, not a neutral test. Record caps also differ: an Airtable base holds 1,000 records on Free, 50,000 on Team and 125,000 on Business. Our Softr vs Airtable comparison sets both models side by side.
Want the source code? Lovable, Base44 and Replit
Code-generating builders answer the ownership complaint head-on. You describe the app, the tool writes real code, and the result lives in a codebase rather than in a configuration inside one vendor. In exchange, someone has to maintain what the AI wrote. Credits differ too. A Lovable credit, a Base44 credit and a Replit credit each measure something different from a Softr AI credit, so compare the plans by what they unlock rather than by credit counts.
Lovable
Lovable writes code you can sync to Git and export, with Git sync available on its Free plan and a full database export on every plan. Lovable Pro with 100 credits costs $25 per month billed monthly or $21 per month billed annually, per workspace. Custom domains and badge removal start on Lovable Pro, and SSO on Business. Mobile is no better than on Softr: Lovable has no native or store output.
Base44
Base44 also prices per workspace: Starter costs $20 per month billed monthly or $16 per month billed annually, and Builder $50 per month billed monthly or $40 per month billed annually. Builder is the tier that matters for a Softr exit, because GitHub sync, ZIP export and App Store and Google Play files all start there. The exported code still calls Base44's backend, which cannot be self-hosted. Its Free plan gives 25 message credits a month, at most 5 a day.
Replit
Replit is the most developer-minded of the three. Its Agent writes, tests and hosts full-stack code, and it can produce native iOS apps through Expo with your own Apple account, though it does not publish to Google Play. Core costs $20 per month billed monthly or $18 per month billed annually with $20 of credits, per account. Those credits are dollar amounts. That is a different currency from anything Softr meters.
Before comparing rivals, list who will log in. On Softr, anyone on Gmail or another free domain is a Client user, and Team users must share a builder's business domain.
Portal builders that bill outside users their own way
Noloco
Noloco is the closest in shape: portals and internal tools on Airtable, Google Sheets, Postgres, Supabase, Xano or its own Noloco Tables, with permissions down to field level. Its Build plan costs $65 per month billed annually or $79 per month billed monthly and includes 10 team seats, 1,000 active clients and 25,000 records; each extra seat is $5 per month on annual billing or $6 on monthly. The Noloco Free plan allows 50 active clients and 2,000 records but works only with Noloco Tables and CSV imports. Build can be tried without a card, and non-profits get 50% off.
Pory
Pory is narrower and simpler. Its AI builds and edits the portal under fair use, with no credit meter, and Pory says its paid plans never charge per person. Pory Pro costs $59 per month, or $49 a month when billed annually, for one portal with no cap on users. Pory's Enterprise plan is $119 per month. Free covers one portal and up to 5 users with a Powered by Pory badge, and each portal can try Pro for 7 days without a card. One warning for Airtable users: Pory cannot import Airtable bases yet.
Zite
Zite competes on usage allowances. Its Free plan leaves users and apps uncapped and includes 5,000 records and 1,000 workflow runs a month. Zite Pro costs $20 per month billed annually, or $240 a year, with 100 credits, 100,000 records, 5,000 workflow runs, a custom domain and no branding. Zite Business costs $75 per month billed annually, or $900 a year, with 250,000 records and 50,000 runs. SSO for app users stays on Enterprise.
Glide
GlideOS is a separate product from Glide Classic, with its own subscription and no tool to move Classic apps across. GlideOS lists Basic at $25 per month, Plus at $50 per month and Pro at $125 per month starting at 5 team members, and said in November 2026 that annual plans are coming soon. Guests are unlimited on paid plans, but admins can invite only 10 new guests every 30 days. Basic allows 2 published apps and 1 workflow. SSO and audit logs are Enterprise.
Check that the new tool connects to where your records live today: Noloco reaches Airtable only from its Build plan, and Pory cannot import Airtable bases yet.
Internal-tool platforms that license every employee
Retool bills both the builders and the staff who use the apps. Retool Team costs $10 per builder plus $5 per internal user per month billed annually, and Retool Business $50 per builder plus $15 per internal user per month billed annually. External users such as partners or clients start on Business, with the first 50 free [4]. Its free tier covers up to 5 users. Mobile apps come on every plan, push and offline mode start on Business, and white-label store apps, SSO and SCIM sit on Enterprise.
Google AppSheet licenses every user, signed-in or guest, at Starter $5, Core $10 or Enterprise Plus $20 per user per month. Up to 10 test users are free while you prototype, and public apps without sign-in fit Publisher Pro at $50 per month per app. AI-assisted app creation needs a paid Google Workspace license. That narrows it to Workspace shops.
Bubble targets custom web products and native mobile apps rather than portals on existing data. Its native apps run on React Native, labelled beta, and need a paid Mobile or Web & Mobile plan before a live version can reach the App Store or Google Play. Usage is metered in AI credits and workload units per plan, students and nonprofits can ask for a discount (Bubble publishes no amount), and SSO, a SOC 2 report and a choice of hosting location sit on Enterprise. It suits builders who want a product, not a portal.
Frequently asked questions
Can I move a Softr app to another builder?+
Not as an app: Softr exports no code, so the interface has to be rebuilt in the new tool. Data kept in Airtable or another external source stays there. Softr has no one-click full export; data in Softr Databases comes out through Table-block CSV or Excel downloads or the Softr Database API.
Which Softr alternatives have a free plan?+
Airtable, Lovable, Base44, Noloco, Pory, Zite and GlideOS all list a free plan, Replit offers a free Starter plan, and Retool's free tier covers up to 5 users. Each caps something different, such as records, clients, portals or credits.
Are Softr's own comparison pages reliable on rivals?+
Treat them as Softr's claims. On Pory, Zite and Stacker they disagree with the rivals' own pricing pages, so this article uses each rival's own page.
The bottom line
Leave Softr for a reason, not a feeling. If outside users are the cost, Noloco, Pory or Zite price them differently; if you need code, Lovable, Base44 or Replit hand it to you; if your data never left Airtable, Interface Designer may already cover your team. Retool and AppSheet fit staff tools, and Bubble or Base44 fit store apps. Stay on Softr when you want portals on your own data with users, permissions and hosting in one workspace, and can live with PWA-only mobile and no code export.
