Figma Sites lets you design, prototype and publish websites from inside Figma. It uses the same frames, auto layout and components as Figma Design, adds breakpoints, interactions, a CMS and code layers, and publishes to the web. In October 2026 it is still a beta. It publishes only from paid plans. And its pricing beyond the beta has not been published.

Everything below comes from Figma's own pages and help center, read on 9 October 2026.

What Figma Sites is

Figma's help center says Sites lets you design, prototype and publish high-quality websites in one place: responsive layouts, the same design tools as Figma Design, copy and paste between the two, interactions such as marquee scrolling and custom cursors, and live sites to share [109].

Sites was released in open beta at Config 2025 [109].

💡
Toolkit tip

Apply auto layout to the webpage before adding sections.

## A short history

Figma launched Sites on 7 May 2025, describing it as an all-in-one tool to design and build custom, responsive websites without leaving the Figma workflow [331]. The launch post promised a chat-to-code feature powered by Figma Make [331], which arrived as code layers [265].

Figma's pitch was aimed at personal portfolios, event sites and product landing pages [331].

Still a beta

The pricing page lists Sites as a beta available on Full seats [2]. The pricing FAQ says Figma will decide with the community when Sites is ready for general availability [3].

A beta can change terms, limits and features. Treat Sites as promising for production sites. Plan a fallback.

💡
Toolkit tip

Keep a fallback host for business-critical sites.

## Who can use it

Sites is available on the Full seat for paid plans [3]. The Starter overview lists Sites among Starter products but with no publishing [129]; the FAQ says a limited Starter experience is coming soon [3].

Education users get Sites if they are in higher education or bootcamps, and each can publish one Sites file without a custom domain [98].

What it costs

There is no separate price: Sites comes with the Full seat, US$16 a month billed annually or US$20 monthly on Professional [2]. Publishing is available on all paid plans, and a Starter user must upgrade to publish [111].

What is not published is the cost of bandwidth and storage. The FAQ says custom domains, bandwidth and storage were free through 2025 and that extra bandwidth or storage could be bought in early 2026 [3]; in October 2026 no price appears. That gap matters.

⚠️
Watch out

Published sites are unpublished if the team downgrades to Starter.

## Starting a site

Every new Sites file opens with a template picker [109]. You can also assemble a site from prebuilt blocks such as landing pages, headers and footers, or paste designs from Figma Design [109].

A Design frame between 1,200 and 1,600 pixels wide can be sent straight to a new Sites file by its creator [272]. Objects copy freely between the two products, though some features work differently [272].

The interface

A left navigation bar switches between File, Insert, Search, Make, CMS and Settings views [109]. The toolbar adds webpages, frames, images, text and shapes, and opens Figma AI tools from Actions [109].

The right sidebar has a Design tab for properties and an Interaction tab for animations and effects [109].

⚠️
Watch out

Bandwidth and storage prices after 2025 are not published.

## Interactions built for the web

The launch post lists prebuilt interactions: mouse parallax, lightbox, spin, draggable elements, typewriter text and scrambled text [331]. It also introduced interactions that did not exist in Figma Design at the time, such as scroll parallax, scroll transform, and hover and pressed states without interactive components [331].

Previews render with HTML and CSS, and resizing the window shows the layout reflow across breakpoints [331].

Figma's own example

For its Config 2025 round-up, Figma's brand studio built the site in Sites: bespoke sections, custom buttons, a Rive animation in an embed block that plays on hover, and a custom cursor that turns into Config glyphs over pull quotes [331]. It used Reveal, Scroll parallax, Scroll transform and Marquee interactions [331].

It is a showcase rather than a typical project, but it shows what the tool can do in expert hands.

Webpages and breakpoints

Each webpage has a name, a preview button and a control for adding breakpoints, the screen widths where the layout changes [109]. You can select and edit objects across all breakpoints at once [109].

Figma's responsive tips: apply auto layout to the webpage itself, create top-level frames for each section, and learn how breakpoints behave [270].

Responsive components and text styles

Sites can create responsive components that switch to the right variant in each breakpoint automatically, by matching breakpoint names such as Desktop, Tablet and Mobile to variant values [316]. Text styles can carry different font sizes, line heights and spacing per breakpoint [317].

Every new webpage starts with a desktop breakpoint, and edits to the primary breakpoint cascade to the others; Figma's example of a breakpoint change is swapping a hover effect for a press effect on mobile [318]. The launch post adds that multi-edit changes several screen sizes at once, and that per-breakpoint text sizing needs no variables [331].

The same design tools

Sites uses frames, shapes, text, auto layout and constraints, and supports components, styles, variables and published libraries, as in Figma Design [273]. Existing design libraries, styles and components can be reused without rebuilding [18].

For a team with a design system in Figma, that reuse is the strongest reason to try Sites. Nothing gets rebuilt.

Blocks, embeds and libraries

The Insert menu holds blocks, ready-made components to assemble a layout; embeds for external content such as videos or maps; CMS lists and pages; and your design libraries [304]. Any site file shared in the Figma Community can be copied as a starting point [304].

Sites supports page links to other pages or external sites, back links that work like a browser's back button, and anchor links that scroll to a section with an optional pixel offset [303]. On pages with several breakpoints, linking an object in the primary breakpoint selects its matches in the others [303].

Images, video and fonts

Sites accepts JPG, PNG, HEIC, WebP, SVG and GIF images and MP4, MOV and WebM video [302]. Paid plans can upload video files up to 300MB each and 1GB of video per site; Figma suggests YouTube or Vimeo for larger files [302].

To publish with a custom font, you upload a WOFF or WOFF2 web font file; on Organization and Enterprise, fonts uploaded to the organization are also available [301].

Connecting your design system

At launch Figma said teams could link published libraries into a site through the inserts panel, and that teams without a design system could start from common blocks such as navigation, hero sections and full pages [331].

Interactions

Sites offers preset interactions such as marquee scrolling, custom cursors and hover effects [18], plus animations, transitions, parallax and effects triggered by user actions [109].

Preview shows the site as visitors will see it, including interactions and responsiveness, without publishing; Shift Space opens an inline preview [109]. The inline preview can stay open beside the canvas while you edit, and a full-screen preview is also available [305].

The CMS

The Sites CMS has three parts: collections, which work like spreadsheets of content; CMS pages, templates that give each item its own URL; and CMS lists, repeating blocks that show several items [110]. Figma's examples are a portfolio of case studies, a product catalog and a blog [110].

The CMS is available on all plans, and connected CMS data is included automatically when you publish [110].

One site can hold several collections, such as blog posts and team bios, each with its own fields [319]. If you have no content yet, starter collections with sample data get a site running quickly [110]. A CMS page appends each item's slug to its URL, so a reviews page produces addresses like /reviews/item-name [321]. CMS lists suit recent posts, testimonials, team profiles and feature grids [320].

Importing content from CSV

Collections can be imported from a CSV file. Figma's checklist: UTF-8 encoding, one header row with no duplicate names, columns called Title and Slug, unique slugs, images as JPEG, GIF or PNG from public HTTPS URLs, and a file under 2MB [268].

That 2MB limit matters for anyone migrating a large blog. Split big imports.

Rich text

Rich text fields let writers add headings, paragraphs, lists, links and images, which then display through rich text layers styled by rich text styles [274]. The aim is to separate the writer's structure from the designer's typography [274].

Code layers

Code layers are a layer type you edit by describing what you want to AI, by writing React, TypeScript and Tailwind CSS yourself, or both [265]. Figma warns never to put API keys in a code layer, because they could be discovered and used by others [265]. People use them to build new elements in code, create custom interactions, connect real data sources and add motion [265].

You can add a code layer from the Make tool, from an existing design, or as a reusable code component whose instances update together [266].

AI in Sites

The AI tools page for Sites says they need a paid plan and a Full seat, and lists code layers along with rewriting, translating and shortening text [269]. The code-layer guide says code layers are available on all plans, with AI features enabled to chat with AI [265], and the AI FAQ says Starter includes code layers [102].

Creating code layers with AI draws on AI credits like other Figma AI features [94].

Accessibility and SEO

Figma's accessibility guidance for Sites covers HTML tags and roles, alt text or marking images as decorative, labels, hiding decorative elements, and a color-contrast tool in the color picker [267]. Semantic HTML also helps search engines [267].

The Settings view helps search engines understand your content and improves accessibility [109].

Site settings

Settings cover the site title, meta description, social sharing image, language code, search-engine inclusion, favicon, Google Analytics and custom code [299]. Two settings need a paid plan: managing who can access the published site, and the cookie consent banner [299].

Title, description, social image, language and search inclusion can also be set per page [299].

Sites has a built-in cookie consent banner that lets visitors approve, reject or manage non-essential cookies, such as analytics and third-party embeds [300]. Figma presents it as help with rules such as GDPR in the EU and CCPA and CPRA in California, while saying its guidance is not legal advice [300].

The banner shows only to visitors from regions that require consent [300]. Others never see it.

Publishing

Published sites go to a randomly generated figma.site subdomain by default [271]. On paid plans you can choose a custom subdomain of up to 63 characters, using lowercase letters, digits and hyphens, unique across Figma-hosted sites; once changed, previous subdomains stop working [271].

After publishing you can change pages, add or remove them, or take the whole site off the web [111].

Figma's publishing article carries a legal note: Figma is not responsible for published content, you are responsible for complying with laws on your content and any visitor data you collect, and Figma may remove content reported as breaking its Acceptable Use Policy [298]. The Education plan's single site is subject to bandwidth limitations [298].

Custom domains

Professional plans can connect 10 custom domains, and Organization and Enterprise unlimited; the allowance is shared with Figma Make [101]. The custom-domain article still says domains are free of charge through 2025 and limits may change after 2025 [101].

Organization and Enterprise admins can switch website publishing off for the organization [3].

Internal or public

By default, people can publish a site or app to the open web or only to an internal audience, who must be logged into the Figma organization to see it [306]. Organization and Enterprise admins can disable external publishing entirely [306].

Enterprise admins can also require passwords on all externally published sites and apps, or set publishing rules per workspace [306].

What happens if you downgrade

If a Professional team downgrades to Starter, any published Sites are unpublished automatically [137]. Make apps, by contrast, stay published on their figma.site address, though custom domains are removed [137].

For a client site, that difference alone argues for keeping the plan paid or hosting elsewhere. Lapses are costly.

Sites against Framer

Framer's yearly-billed plans run from free with 1GB of bandwidth, to Basic at US$10 a month with 30 pages, 2 CMS collections and 50GB, to Pro at US$30 with 150 pages, 10 collections, 100GB, staging and branching [174].

Framer publishes its limits; Sites publishes no bandwidth or page limits yet. Framer is a mature site builder. Sites is a beta inside a design tool.

Sites against Webflow

Webflow's free Starter plan allows 2 static pages and 1GB of bandwidth; Basic is US$15 a month billed yearly with 300 pages and 10GB, and Premium US$25 with the CMS [180]. Webflow is a hosting and CMS platform first.

Choose Webflow when the site's content operations matter more than its design workflow. Content teams will.

Code layers or Make?

Figma's own advice: use Make to go from a prompt to a working app without much canvas work; use code layers in Sites when you start designing on the canvas and want to add interactivity or motion to a website [265]. Code layers are, in Figma's words, the power of Make inside Sites [265]. Make suits apps without much canvas work [265].

Sites or Make?

Both publish to the web. Sites is for designed websites built page by page with breakpoints and a CMS [109]. Make is for apps and functional prototypes generated from prompts [104]. They share the custom-domain allowance [101].

A marketing site belongs in Sites. A working prototype of a product feature belongs in Make. Pick by output.

Copy and design together

Figma has argued for years that websites go faster when writers and designers work in the same file; a 2018 post by its then head of product marketing described weeks of back-and-forth between copy in documents and designs in another tool [332]. Sites adds a CMS and rich text fields that let writers structure content while designers own the styles [274].

Who should use Sites

Designers and small teams already on Figma who want to publish portfolios, landing pages and simple marketing sites from their own designs and libraries, and who can accept beta terms.

Who should wait

Teams that need published bandwidth limits and prices, large content migrations above the 2MB CSV import, or a site that must stay online if the Figma plan lapses.

Frequently asked questions

Is Figma Sites free?+

Sites comes with the Full seat on paid plans; Starter users must upgrade to publish. Education users can publish one site.

Can I use a custom domain with Figma Sites?+

Yes. Professional plans can connect 10 custom domains, shared with Figma Make; Organization and Enterprise have no limit.

## Verdict

Figma Sites is the shortest path from a Figma design to a live website, and for designers that is a real advantage. It is also a beta with unpublished hosting costs and an unpublish-on-downgrade rule. Use it for sites you can rebuild. Keep business-critical sites on a platform with published terms.
