The short answer: yes, with two catches

VEED is a legitimate, London-based company, not a fly-by-night app. Veed Limited was founded in 2018 by Sabba Keynejad and Tim Mamedov, raised a Series A from Sequoia in 2022 and runs a remote-first team of 150+ people. Your files sit on Google Cloud servers in the EU, encrypted at rest and in transit, and VEED says it is SOC 2 compliant. The two catches are about terms, not hackers: on the Free plan your web uploads may help train VEED's AI models, and every upload grants VEED a broad licence to your content.

Whether that matters depends on what you upload. A solo creator cutting a vlog has little to fear from either clause. A team handling client footage or anything under an NDA should look harder, because the strongest controls sit on Enterprise only: single sign-on, signed data processing agreements and answers to security questionnaires. Some data is also off limits on every standard plan, whatever you pay. That is policy, not a bug. The sections below give the specifics you need for each of those decisions.

Where your videos live and how they are guarded

VEED's editor runs in the browser, but rendering happens on VEED's servers, so your raw footage always leaves your machine. Those servers sit in the EU on Google Cloud Platform, according to VEED's security FAQ, while its sub-processors work from various regions and are listed publicly in its trust centre.[1] Data is encrypted at rest with AES and in transit with TLS 1.2 or above. VEED also runs daily security sweeps on its apps and has third parties test its software at least once every 12 months.

On certification, the picture is narrower than the marketing suggests. VEED's help center says it has achieved SOC 2 compliance across five trust principles (security, availability, processing integrity, confidentiality and privacy), and that the report can be downloaded from its trust centre.[2] The public security page itself lists no SOC 2 or ISO certification, and we found no ISO certificate anywhere in VEED's pages. Nor do those pages name which type of SOC 2 report it holds. Ask before you sign.

When something goes wrong

VEED commits to notifying impacted parties within 72 hours of discovering a breach or data loss incident, and it claims compliance with GDPR and California privacy law. A Data Protection Officer, named as co-founder Tim Mamedov, oversees the testing of data protection measures, and the UK Information Commissioner's Office is the regulator for complaints. Two honest disclaimers sit in the fine print as well. VEED says it cannot guarantee that state authorities will never obtain access to processed data, and it warns that no internet transmission is completely secure. A public status page tracks outages across the editor, AI tools and APIs.

What VEED may do with your uploads

This is the clause most buyers miss. VEED's privacy policy says content uploaded on the Free plan is used to develop and improve its products, including training AI models.[3] The clause does not cover uploads made through the mobile apps. If you object, you cannot stay on Free: the policy leaves two exits, deleting the account or upgrading to a paid plan. Even then, VEED may keep information derived from your content once it has been deidentified, anonymised or aggregated. The policy was last updated on 6 January 2025, with this clause already in it.

Leaving Free costs real money, because VEED bills per editor seat. Creator, the cheapest paid plan, is $25 per editor seat billed monthly or $12.25 per seat a month billed annually ($147 a year). Every workspace member counts as a seat, including the owner, collaborators and pending invites. For a three-person team on Creator, that comes to $75 a month or $441 a year, by our arithmetic. Payments are not refunded once you have used the service, so read how to cancel VEED before you commit to a year.

Toolkit tip
Upgrade before uploading client footage

The AI-training clause in VEED's privacy policy covers Free-plan uploads made on the web (not through the mobile apps), so move confidential projects into a paid workspace before you upload them.

Paid plans change the training clause, not the licence. VEED's Terms of Sale say you keep responsibility for what you upload and grant VEED a non-exclusive, irrevocable, royalty-free, worldwide licence to reproduce and use it. That wording is broad. It applies on every plan, Enterprise included unless you negotiate custom legal terms. Developers get a cleaner deal: VEED says API inputs and outputs are not used to train its models unless the customer agrees, and API request bodies are stored for seven days unless a per-call header switches storage off.

Logging in, sharing and who sees your projects

VEED has no password login at all. You sign in with a one-time code sent to your email, or through Google, Apple or Microsoft, and the help center confirms there is no option to set a password. That removes password reuse as a risk but makes your email account the real key to your workspace, so protect that inbox with its own two-step sign-in. VEED's documents list 2FA, password complexity and single sign-on among its access controls, yet SSO is offered only on Enterprise, through the Enterprise team.

Inside a workspace, access is all or nothing below Enterprise. Collaborators get the same editing rights as the owner, because there are no permission roles on self-serve plans; Studio adds a single reviewer role. If someone only needs to watch one project, a free Project Viewer invite is the safer choice. Only the owner sees the Billing and the Privacy and Security settings. Share links set to anyone with the link are not indexed by search engines, but anyone holding the link can watch the video. Treat links like door keys.

Deletion is final both ways. Projects you delete sit in Trash for 30 days, then disappear for good, and support cannot recover them. Deleting your account removes all data, workspaces and projects permanently, and every video you embedded elsewhere stops playing. An account with an active subscription cannot be deleted from settings until the billing period ends, though support can help sooner. For business customers on paid plans, the standard data processing terms inside VEED's Terms of Use require it to delete customer personal data within 60 days after the contract ends, and to certify the deletion in writing on request. A separately signed DPA is Enterprise-only.

⚠️
Watch out
Account deletion breaks every embed

Deleting a VEED account permanently removes all projects, support cannot restore them, and videos embedded on other sites stop playing.

One more risk sits outside VEED's servers. VEED warns of scammers posing as its staff and says it only contacts users from @veed.io and @veed.co email addresses. Anything else asking for a login code, a card number or a payment is not VEED, whatever the logo says. Because sign-in runs on emailed codes, a scammer who talks you into forwarding one walks straight into your workspace, client footage and all. Never share a code.

Check the sender's domain

VEED says it only contacts users from @veed.io and @veed.co addresses. Never forward a login code to anyone.

Voice clones, avatars and data you must never upload

VEED's AI likeness tools come with consent checks built in. To clone a voice, you record a short predetermined script, which VEED uses to stop people cloning someone else's voice without consent, and each workspace gets one voice clone. Personal avatars use a direct recording with voice identification and consent steps. VEED's AI terms ban impersonating any person or entity with avatars or text to speech, and its conduct rules also ban content falsely depicting a person, political content and removing AI provenance marks. Breaking them can end in suspension with no refund.

The bigger limit for regulated teams is the Code of Conduct. On standard plans it forbids uploading government ID numbers, HIPAA health data, payment card data, passwords, tax returns and GDPR Article 9 special-category data.[4] VEED claims no HIPAA compliance, so clinics and health trainers should keep patient footage out of it. Custom data-processing terms can be discussed in an Enterprise contract. If your videos show other people's sensitive details, the privacy policy also requires their explicit written consent before you upload.

What Enterprise adds for a security review

Safeguard Free Creator, Pro, Studio Enterprise
Uploads covered by the AI-training clause Yes (web uploads; not mobile-app uploads) No No
Sign-in Email code, Google, Apple, Microsoft Same Adds SSO
Permission roles None None (Studio: 1 reviewer) Unlimited reviewers, private workspaces
Data processing terms None (the terms cover paid business customers) Standard terms in the Terms of Use, with EU clauses Signed DPA available
Security questionnaires and audits No No Yes
Support Email Live chat Priority chat

If your procurement team sends a security questionnaire, only an Enterprise buyer gets an answer; VEED says it responds to questionnaires and audit requests from Enterprise customers only. Enterprise is priced through sales, and it is also the only plan with a free trial, for three or more users. One clause deserves a lawyer's eye. The data processing terms promise 30 days' notice before a new sub-processor in one place and one hour in the EU clauses. Get the notice period written into your contract.

Frequently asked questions

Does VEED sell my personal data?+

VEED's privacy policy states it does not sell personal data to third parties. It also asks for express consent before sharing personal data with third parties for their own marketing.

Is VEED meant for children?+

No. VEED says its applications are not intended for children and it does not knowingly collect data relating to them; API users must be 18 or over.

How do I get my data erased or get a copy of it?+

Send VEED a data rights request. It answers within one month, longer for complex requests, and usually charges no fee, though it may refuse requests it judges unfounded, repetitive or excessive.

Can I edit in VEED offline to keep files local?+

Not on the web: the browser editor needs an internet connection and renders on VEED's servers. The mobile app can edit downloaded videos offline.

The bottom line

VEED is safe enough for most marketing, training and social video work: EU hosting, encryption, a 72-hour breach promise and a SOC 2 report that VEED says you can download. The real decisions are contractual. Keep confidential footage off the Free plan, because Free web uploads may train VEED's AI. Expect a broad content licence on every plan. And if you need SSO, a signed DPA or a formal security review, budget for Enterprise from day one, and see our VEED pricing guide for what each plan costs.
