VEED is a strong pick for small marketing and training teams who want to edit, subtitle and generate short videos in a browser, and a weak one for anyone who needs predictable AI costs or a large team on a self-serve plan. Paid plans start at $12.25 per editor seat a month billed annually, or $25 billed monthly, and every person in the workspace counts as a seat. The editor and subtitles are the reason to buy. The AI credits are the reason to read the fine print.
What VEED actually is in 2026
VEED is a browser-based video editor and generator from a London-based company founded in 2018 and backed by a $35M Series A from Sequoia in 2022. Nothing installs. You work in Chrome or another browser with hardware acceleration on, and rendering runs on VEED's servers. There is a multi-track timeline, auto subtitles with animated Dynamic styles, brand kits, templates and a stock library. A built-in recorder captures screen, camera and slides for up to 60 minutes per take on every plan, with a teleprompter.
The AI layer has grown faster than the editor. Since August 2026 accounts land on the VEED AI dashboard, where a prompt becomes an editable script and then a video. The AI Playground rents third-party models such as Google Veo, Kling, Seedance and Sora 2, and shows the credit cost on the Generate button before you spend anything. VEED's own Fabric 1.0 turns a photo and an audio track into a talking video. Around those sit Edit with Script for text-based cutting, Magic Cut, Clips, Clean Audio, Eye Contact correction, silence removal and dubbing.
An iOS app and, since September 2026, an Android app share one account with the web editor, and the mobile app can edit downloaded videos offline. One naming trap matters. VEED Lite is a separate iOS captions app with its own Apple subscription, not the mobile version of VEED, so a Lite purchase and a web plan are billed and cancelled in different places. iOS in-app purchases are billed and refunded by Apple, while Android uses VEED's own checkout at web prices.
VEED bills every workspace member and every pending invite as an editor seat, so remove invites nobody accepted before the plan renews.
Pricing: you pay per editor seat
Every price below is per editor seat, in USD, which is VEED's default market; local prices differ by region, and India is annual-only. The editor cap is a ceiling, not seats you already own. The owner, each collaborator and every pending invite is billed as a seat, so a workspace of three people on Pro pays for three Pro seats [1]. Upgrading resets the billing period, and adding a collaborator is charged at once, prorated.
| Plan | Billed monthly | Billed annually | AI credits | Export | Editor cap |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Free | $0 | $0 | 50 a month (some regions) | 720p, watermark | 3 |
| Creator | $25 a seat a month | $12.25 a seat a month ($147 a year) | 500 a month (6,000 a year on annual) | 1080p | 3 |
| Pro | $45 a seat a month | $22.08 a seat a month ($265 a year) | 2,500 a month (30,000 a year on annual) | 4K | 3 |
| Studio | $79 a seat a month | $38.75 a seat a month ($465 a year) | 15,000 a month (180,000 a year on annual) | 4K | 5 |
| Enterprise | Custom | Custom | Custom | 4K | 500 |
Creator removes the watermark. It also adds one Brand Kit limited to fonts and colors. Pro brings 4K, multiple Brand Kits, subtitle translation into 50+ languages, embeds, speaker detection and subtitle-file downloads. Studio adds custom templates, a reviewer role, custom watermarks and branded hosting. SSO, DPAs, security questionnaires and up to 500 editors are Enterprise-only, as is the only free trial VEED offers.
Team totals add up quickly. By our arithmetic, three Pro seats come to $135 a month on monthly billing or $795 a year on annual billing, and five Studio seats come to $395 a month or $2,325 a year. A sixth editor means Enterprise. On Creator, Pro and Studio at their base credit level, annual billing wins from six months: five months at the monthly rate cost less than one year, six cost more. Higher-credit Creator and Studio variants need seven to eleven months.
There are no permission roles below Enterprise, so every invited editor has the owner's full rights and can change any project in the workspace. Free Project Viewer invites cover stakeholders who only watch and approve one project. Projects cannot move between workspaces, and each workspace is billed separately. Removing a collaborator refunds nothing; the unused time becomes credit on future invoices. Plan the structure first.
AI credits: the cost you cannot read off the price tag
All generative work draws on one credit pool per workspace: 500 credits a month on Creator, 2,500 on Pro and 15,000 on Studio, or the full year's allowance up front on annual billing. Credits refresh in full at renewal and unused ones expire. They cannot be refunded. Every successful generation is charged; a failed one is free, a result you dislike is not.
The rate table shows how fast that goes. A single Veo 3.1 clip costs 310 credits, so Creator's monthly allowance covers one. Kling 3 costs 20 credits a second. Fabric runs at 8 credits a second at 720p, which by our arithmetic turns 500 credits into about a minute of talking video and 2,500 into a little over five minutes. Text to speech, subtitle translation, AI Transitions and avatars draw on the same pool.
On the web you cannot top up. More credits means a higher-credit variant of your plan, sold per seat, and it raises only the credits. VEED's own numbers expose a quirk: Creator with 2,500 credits costs $45 a month, the same as base Pro, which carries the same credits plus 4K and multiple Brand Kits. Anyone who needs that many credits on a monthly plan should pick Pro instead.
Plenty costs nothing. Creating projects and scripts, Edit with Script, regular transitions, and VEED AI videos with a voice but no on-screen character are free of credits. Magic Cut, Clean Audio and Eye Contact spend no credits either, and paid plans get them without limit. Auto subtitles use minutes instead: 10 a month on Free, and a 50-hour monthly fair-use ceiling on paid plans, with transcription in 100+ languages.
VEED refunds credits only for failed generations; a clip you do not like is charged, and unused credits expire at renewal.
The limits and missing pieces we checked
Free is a place to try VEED, not a trial. There is no free trial of any self-serve plan; only Enterprise offers one, for three or more users. Free exports carry a watermark baked into the file, so after upgrading you re-export from the original project. Free also caps exports at 10 minutes and 720p, uploads at 1 GB per file, and gives one-time tries of Clean Audio, Eye Contact, Clips, dubbing and subtitle translation. VEED's privacy policy says content uploaded on the Free web plan is used to improve its products, including training AI models; mobile uploads are excluded, and opting out means upgrading or deleting the account [2].
Several absences showed up in our search of VEED's help center and policies. VEED does not publish directly to YouTube or TikTok; you download and upload yourself. There is no offline editing on the web and no transparent export. Dubbing uses one voice for every speaker, and a workspace gets one voice clone. We found no HIPAA compliance, no ISO certification, and no nonprofit or student discount. VEED says it is SOC 2 compliant, with the report available through its trust center.
Refunds are narrow: consumers who never used the service can cancel within 14 days for a full refund, but after any use, cancelling, downgrading, removing a seat or deleting the account refunds nothing [3]. Our cancellation guide covers the two-business-day renewal deadline. The VEED API is a separate product with its own prepaid credits, and editor plans never pay for API jobs.
Creator with 2,500 credits costs $45 per seat a month billed monthly, the same as base Pro, which has the same credits plus 4K and multiple Brand Kits.
Who should pick something else
Pick VEED if your team is up to three people on Creator or Pro, or up to five on Studio, making subtitled social clips, training snippets or talking-head videos, and you want generative models one click from the timeline. Edit with Script and Magic Cut (English only) work even on Free, so the team can judge the editor before anyone pays, as long as nobody uploads material that should not feed model training.
Look elsewhere in three cases. First, if transcript-first editing is the core of your workflow, Descript is the closer fit; it bills per person, and its Hobbyist plan is $16 a month billed annually or $24 monthly for one seat. Our VEED vs Descript comparison walks through that choice. Second, if you mainly need video hosting with analytics and a player for your site, a host like Vimeo or Wistia does that job directly.
Third, if heavy AI generation is the whole point, do the credit math first. A team generating several Veo clips a week spends Creator's monthly allowance on the first one and lands on Studio or a higher-credit variant. Remember that each variant is priced per seat, so the boost multiplies across the team. Our list of VEED alternatives compares the options under their own pricing rules, including per-member and per-account billing.
How we score VEED
We score VEED on the same eight axes we use for every product, each on its own evidence. Breadth pulls the number up: one browser tab holds an editor, a recorder, subtitles in 100+ languages, dubbing and a shelf of generative models. Billed pending invites, credits that expire at renewal and refunds only for consumers who never used the service within 14 days pull it down.
A self-serve VEED API since 30 September 2026 (Fabric, Lipsync, background removal, green screen and Clean Audio, with Node and Go SDKs and an OpenAPI 3.1 spec), Fabric, Lipsync and Subtitles APIs also on fal.ai, an MCP server, a ChatGPT app, Make.com, a Box integration for auto subtitles, Epidemic Sound inside the editor, imports from Dropbox and TikTok or Twitch links for Magic Cut, and share links and embeds. Held back by no direct publishing to YouTube, TikTok or other platforms (exports are uploaded by hand), an API that is a separate prepaid product ($1 = 100 credits, no free tier, no subscription) that editor credits never pay for, no webhooks (jobs are polled), no API for the full editor, no YouTube links in the current Clips tool, and custom embeds held for Pro ($22.08 per editor seat a month billed annually, $45 monthly).
A browser editor with a multi-track timeline, auto subtitles in 100+ languages with Dynamic styles, Edit with Script on every plan, Magic Cut, Clips, Clean Audio, Eye Contact, Remove Silences, green screen and background removal, Brand Kits, a screen, camera and slides recorder with a teleprompter, video hosting with comments and embeds, subtitle translation in 50+ languages, dubbing into 29 languages, and 4K export from Pro. Held back by a 60-minute cap per recording on every plan, no live streaming, no transparent export, no multiple subtitle tracks shown at once, one voice for all speakers in dubbing, one voice clone per workspace, no permission roles below Enterprise, and custom templates held for Studio ($38.75 per editor seat a month billed annually, $79 monthly).
A Free plan with no card (720p, 10-minute exports, 10 minutes of auto subtitles and 50 regional AI credits a month), Creator at $12.25 per editor seat a month billed annually ($147 a year) or $25 monthly with 1080p, no watermark and 500 credits a month, Pro at $22.08 billed annually or $45 monthly with 4K and 2,500 credits, and failed generations that cost no credits. Held back by every workspace member and pending invite billed as a seat (three on Pro is $135 a month billed monthly, our arithmetic), no rollover and no web top-ups of credits, heavy models that drain small plans (Veo 3.1 at 310 credits a clip), no paid-plan trial below Enterprise, no nonprofit or student discount, and no refund once you have used the service (consumers who never used it get 14 days).
Nothing to install (the editor runs in the browser and renders on VEED's servers), a VEED AI dashboard that turns a prompt into an editable script and then a video, typed commands through the AI Agent, Edit with Script for text-based cuts, templates, and one account across web, iOS and Android. Held back by Chrome recommended and hardware acceleration required, no offline editing on the web, credit costs that differ by model and show only on the Generate button, a hardcoded Free watermark that needs a re-export from the original project after upgrading, unsaved recordings lost if the window closes, and a separate iOS app (VEED Lite) with its own Apple subscription.
An AI Playground with third-party video and image models (Google Veo, Kling, Seedance, Sora 2, Hailuo, Wan, Luma Ray and others) and a published credit rate table, VEED's own models (Fabric 1.0 for talking video, Lipsync 2.0, VEED Motion, VEED Animate), stock and personal avatars, text to speech and a voice clone on ElevenLabs Eleven v4, AI dubbing, AI B-roll, Background Expand and Transitions, and an AI Agent that edits from typed commands. Held back by every generation drawing on credits (disliked results are not refunded), the AI Agent still being improved by VEED's account and VEED Animate labelled experimental, lip sync in dubbing in beta, avatars unavailable in several countries, and a privacy policy that lets VEED train AI models on content uploaded on the Free plan.
Live chat on paid plans (4 to 8 business hours), priority chat on Enterprise (under 20 minutes), servers in the EU on Google Cloud, AES encryption at rest and TLS 1.2+ in transit, yearly third-party tests, 72-hour breach notification, a public status page, and VEED says it is SOC 2 compliant (report via its trust centre). Held back by email-only support on Free (about 3 business days), no weekend support, no ISO certification or HIPAA (the Code of Conduct forbids health data), SSO, DPAs and security questionnaires held for Enterprise, and a broad, irrevocable licence to uploaded content in the Terms of Sale.
A help center at support.veed.io organized by feature, a dated changelog, machine-readable plan data (plans.md and llms.txt), API docs with an OpenAPI 3.1 spec and SDKs, a large blog of how-to guides, and model pages with credit costs. Held back by help and blog pages that still describe legacy plans (Lite, Basic, Business and the old Pro), older starting prices ($20 and $24 a month) and older credit costs, pages that disagree on translation languages (50+ versus 60+ to 140+), avatars and Android availability, and a marketing page that promises API webhooks the docs say do not exist.
Reviewers rate it well: G2 4.6 from 2,187 reviews and Trustpilot 4.2 from 3,907, while Capterra shows 3.2 from 63. Trustpilot collects mostly unhappy customers, so it is a map of complaints, not a trend. Axis score 4.33: the mean of each platform's displayed rating with at least 30 reviews, weighted by review count (4.6, 3.2 and 4.2 = 4.33).
Weighted across the axes above (weights reflect what actually drives the decision in this category). How we score →
Our Toolkit Score for VEED is 3.8/5. Platform ratings count as one axis of the eight, never the whole verdict. Review platforms describe how the editor feels in daily use, but they say little about renewal, when a forgotten invite is billed or a year of unused credits disappears. Those rules come from VEED's pricing page and Terms of Sale, which we read in full. VEED passes the product check more easily than the contract check.
Frequently asked questions
Does VEED work on Android?+
Yes. VEED's Android app has been on the Play Store since 21 September 2026 and shares one account with the web and iOS apps. VEED Lite is a separate iOS captions app with its own Apple subscription.
How do I pay VEED, and are invoices emailed?+
VEED takes cards, PayPal and, in some countries, Google Pay or Apple Pay through Stripe. Invoices are not emailed; the workspace owner downloads them from the Invoices tab.
What happens if a VEED payment fails?+
VEED retries the payment daily for 5 days, then puts the subscription on hold and the workspace drops to the Free plan.
Does VEED have a referral discount?+
New customers referred by an existing user get 50% off the first 3 months, or the equivalent on an annual plan. It cannot be combined with other promotions and does not apply in India.
The bottom line
VEED earns its place as a fast, browser-based editor with unusually broad AI tools attached, and the Free plan lets you judge the editor before you pay. Buy Creator or Pro for a team of up to three, or Studio for four or five, if you live on subtitles and short clips; budget credits by the clip, and remove unused invites before renewal. Skip it if you need more than five editors without Enterprise, a refund after using the service (only unused consumer accounts get one within 14 days), or predictable generative spend.
