The verdict, in one line
Serpstat is an all-in-one SEO platform: keyword research, competitor analysis, daily rank tracking, backlinks, site audit, keyword clustering, an API and an MCP server, sold per account in four paid plans. It is the cheapest full SEO suite we have scored that tracks rankings daily on every plan [1]. Team, at $129 a month or $100 billed annually, adds the API, MCP and three users. The catch sits in the fine print. Payments are called non-refundable, plan credits reset every cycle, and several of Serpstat's own pages still quote old prices. Good value, then, as long as you read the terms before you pay.
Serpstat began in 2013 as an internal tool at the Netpeak agency in Odesa, Ukraine, built by a team of five, and launched as a standalone product in 2015. Its founders are Oleg Salamakha and Artem Borodatyuk, and the footer of every page says it has been independent since 2015 as part of Fractal. In practice it is a classic SEO suite with an API attached. One login reaches every module. Only the limits change from plan to plan.
Who it's for, and who should skip it
Individual suits freelancers and site owners with up to five projects who need daily rankings and a monthly audit. At $50 a month billed annually, it is the cheapest daily rank tracker in this review, but it has no API, no batch analysis and no JavaScript rendering. Fine for one person. Team is for small agencies and in-house teams. For $129 a month, or $100 billed annually, it adds unlimited projects, 500 searches a day, 3 users, 200,000 API credits, MCP and JavaScript audits. This is the plan most buyers should take.
Agency is for shops that need white label reports, 30 users, 2 million API credits at 10 requests a second, or phone support. It costs $4,920 a year billed annually (our arithmetic) and has no trial at all. Compare Team x2 first, because it covers six users for $2,028 a year. Skip Serpstat if you need refund rights, since payments are called non-refundable. Skip it if backlink data is your core job and you trust the Ahrefs index more. Skip it if you dislike credit math. And if you only need AI brand tracking, LLM Brand Monitor is sold on its own.
Pick the Team trial, not Individual, so you can test the API, MCP and JavaScript audits before you commit.
What you pay: four plans, a trial and Freemium
Serpstat sells four paid plans per account. The table below comes from the pricing page and the data attributes behind its cards, and rank tracking updates daily on all four.
| Individual | Team | Team x2 | Agency | |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Month-to-month | $69 | $129 | $209 | $499 |
| Per month, billed annually | $50 | $100 | $169 | $410 |
| Searches per day | 100 | 500 | 1,000 | 5,000 |
| Position checks a month | 10,000 | 50,000 | 100,000 | 500,000 |
| Pages to audit | 30,000 | 150,000 | 300,000 | 1,500,000 |
| API credits a month | none | 200,000 | 400,000 | 2,000,000 |
| Users | 1 | 3 | 6 | 30 |
Paid yearly, the four plans come to $600, $1,200, $2,028 and $4,920 (our arithmetic). Our Serpstat pricing guide breaks down every limit and the real cost per user.
Why the pricing page shows two prices
The page opens on the annual rate, under a banner promising up to 27% off for annual billing. The month-to-month price appears only after you switch the toggle; in the HTML it sits in a data attribute behind each card. So a buyer who skims sees $50, not $69. Check the toggle before you pay. It is the first of several places where the paperwork needs a closer look than the features do.
Freemium, the trial and the $1 card check
Without a card, Serpstat gives a Freemium account with 10 searches a day, 10 results per report and 10 pages to audit. A canceled trial falls back to it, and so does a failed renewal. It is a taster, not a working plan. The 7-day trial covers Individual or Team; Agency has no trial. The Individual trial includes 2,000 rank checks and the Team trial 10,000, which is enough to test daily tracking but not enough to migrate a big account.
A trial needs a card. Serpstat charges $1 to verify it and returns the money to your account within half an hour. Automatic renewal switches on with the trial, and the full plan price is taken after seven days unless you turn it off. Take the Team trial rather than Individual, so you can test the API and JavaScript audits, and decide by day six.
Turn off renewal in Bills on day one and email support as well, because the terms ask for notice 15 days before expiration.
Research: keywords, competitors and ads
Keyword research
The keyword module covers 230 Google country databases plus Bing for the US, with search volume, keyword difficulty, CPC, PPC competition, intent and AI Overview presence, plus related keywords, suggestions and questions. Keyword Difficulty runs from 1 to 100 and rests on backlinks, URL complexity and whether a query is commercial. Standard metrics, standard caveats. It is a full research tool, not a lite one.
Two recent additions stand out. In February 2025 Serpstat added more than 41 million search suggestions to its US database, from Amazon US and Perplexity AI, which is useful for ecommerce and unusual among rivals. Since June 2025 an AI Search mode also finds keywords close in meaning even when phrased differently. Check its output by hand. And Keyword Gap, renamed in October 2024, lists the keywords competitors rank for and you do not.
Competitors, traffic and paid search
Site Analysis shows organic and paid competitors, top pages, visibility, traffic and keyword dynamics for any domain or URL, and since February 2026 an Insights block flags critical changes on the project dashboard. In August 2025 Serpstat moved its organic traffic metric to a machine-learning model that, by its own benchmarks, lands closer to real Search Console clicks and on par with competitors. We cannot verify that. Treat any third-party traffic number as an estimate, Serpstat's included.
Serpstat grew out of an SEO and PPC agency, and it shows. You can find competitors' ads, their paid keywords, their landing pages and the product groups they promote, and Rank Tracker follows paid positions too. Market Research rates up to one million domains by category in 230 countries, and since July 2026 it shows AI metrics beside SEO ones. Batch analysis compares up to 100,000 keywords or domains across 5 search databases. It is missing from Individual; Team gets 25 projects of up to 500 domains. A link builder's tool.
Rank tracking is the strongest part
The pricing table marks daily updates with a check on Individual, Team, Team x2 and Agency, while the Ahrefs pricing page lists weekly updates for its Rank Tracker on all four of its plans. This is where Serpstat beats its price class. Rank Tracker follows the top 100 for desktop, mobile and paid results in any Google country, state or city, with unlimited competitors per project at no extra cost and free project transfers from other services. At $69 a month you get 10,000 position checks, about 333 keywords a day in one location (our arithmetic).
When Google stopped serving 100 results per request in September 2025, Serpstat's CEO wrote that the company would keep full Top-100 visibility in Rank Tracking without raising prices. That matters for new sites ranking on page five. So far, the promise holds. Since 25 September 2025 Rank Tracker also checks visibility in Google's AI Overview on desktop and mobile. The cost is real: each check uses 2 credits per keyword and region, because Serpstat makes two Google requests [2]. Track AI Overviews for your top keywords only, or the quota halves. Switching is easier too, since Serpstat now imports past rankings and detects Semrush and Ahrefs export files automatically.
Each AI Overview check uses 2 credits per keyword and region, so track only your top keywords there or your quota halves.
Backlinks, site audit and clustering
Backlinks, and an index that does not add up
The backlink module covers referring domains, anchors, lost and new links and Link Intersect for up to three competitors. Domain Rank, scored 0 to 100, rates authority from linking sites and the sites linking to them, and a Link Tracker for your own placements arrived in May 2024. Complete enough. The trouble is the size of the index. The Semrush comparison page claims 1.1 trillion links for 407 million domains, while the Rank Tracker page and llms.txt say 529 billion backlinks. Neither page is dated. We would not rank Serpstat's link data above Ahrefs' on these claims.
Site audit
Site Audit groups issues by priority, explains each fix and runs on a daily, weekly or manual schedule. Individual audits 30,000 pages a month and 5,000 per scan; Team 150,000 and 25,000. An August 2026 update added eight URL-level checks, from double slashes to tracking parameters and internal search pages. Useful catches, and rare in cheap tools. Audits can also render JavaScript sites and single-page apps, but the pricing table marks that unavailable on Individual and included from Team up. If your site runs on React or Vue, Individual will audit a skeleton. Buy Team.
Keyword clustering
The clustering tool takes up to 50,000 keywords per project and groups them by how many URLs they share in the top 30 search results. You choose the connection strength and can move keywords between clusters by hand. Clustering is a genuine strength here, and many rivals sell it separately.
AI tools, MCP and the API
The MCP server is the strongest part of the AI offer. It connects Claude, ChatGPT and Gemini to live Serpstat data with 63 SEO tools, either through OAuth with no install or as a local version that keeps your API token on your machine. It spends API credits. In March 2026 Serpstat added Skills for Claude, five ready reports from quick wins to a competitive gap, pulled through MCP from one prompt, and product pages also advertise stus.ai with 10 AI agents for the SEO routine. Both are new. We did not test them.
The AI writing tools on Team and above, from an article builder in 26 languages to an AI content detector, are generic aids. Do not buy Serpstat for them. LLM Brand Monitor, which tracks how AI models mention a brand with sentiment and share of voice, is billed apart from the SEO plans: a Free tier with 10 checks and 2 projects a month, and Pro at $39 a month as a limited-time offer against a $99 list price. Budget for it separately.
API, integrations and the extension
The public API starts on Team, with 200,000 API credits a month at one request per second, and since April 2026 it can run Rank Tracker end to end, from projects to schedules. One Trustpilot reviewer calls the rate limits very low, and one request a second is slow for bulk jobs. Integrations include a Google Sheets add-on, a Looker Studio connector, Python and R libraries and, since July 2026, a community node in n8n. Most need Team.
The Website SEO Checker extension is free to install, but the May 2026 help article says it spends API credits, which start on Team, while the older extension page still promises free users a few credits. Custom reports combine 20+ indicators with your logo and can be emailed on a schedule. Team gets 5 scheduled reports and Team x2 10, while white label reports are Agency-only, so agencies that resell reports pay $410 a month or more.
Credits, seats and the fine print
How credits and seats work
Each module has its own credit pool, and one domain check, one keyword result, one backlink or one audited page each costs one credit. In the API one returned row costs one credit and a summary report costs five. Credits cannot move between modules [3], so watch the Site Audit pool on big sites. Plan credits do not roll over; unused credits reset at renewal. Top-ups bought per module do not expire while the subscription is active, but they are forfeited if it lapses, and their prices are not on the pricing page. Ask before you buy.
Team members get their own logins and credit allocations drawn from the owner's pool, while Individual is a single-user plan. The pricing page shows no price for an extra seat, so plan your headcount before you pick a plan.
Renewal, refunds and leaving
The cancellation terms are blunt: "Any payment received as a result of a subscription activation is non refundable." [4] Serpstat reserves the right to consider individual refund requests if they are justified, and the trial FAQ promises a quick refund if you forget to cancel. That is goodwill. Not a right. The same terms ask you to cancel by email no later than 15 days before expiration, while the Bills help article, dated July 16, 2026, lets you switch off renewal yourself at any time. One Trustpilot reviewer complains the renewal reminder arrived two days before the charge. Do both. Toggle it off and email support.
Leaving has a deadline too. Serpstat keeps project data for 2 to 100 months after expiry, depending on the plan, and after that deletes all projects except the first one created, with their history. Individual keeps it only two months. Export your rank history before you go.
Plan credits reset every billing cycle and cannot move between modules, and top-ups are forfeited if the subscription lapses.
Support, documentation and what users say
Support works through online chat and email for paid and free users alike, and video consultations with a Customer Success manager are open on every plan. Team gets priority chat; only Agency gets phone support. Better than most at this price. The help center was rewritten in 2026, and Serpstat also publishes an llms.txt, API docs, a long FAQ and a dated changelog, last updated September 5, 2026, that runs month by month back through 2022. Few vendors at this price log changes this openly.
Where Serpstat's own pages disagree
The weak spot is consistency. Keyword counts range from 8.91 billion on the statistics page to 8.5 billion on the About page, 7.53 billion on the keyword research page and 7.03 billion on the features page, and none is dated. Ukraine alone has 330.2 million keywords, more than France, Germany or Spain. Serpstat is strong in Eastern Europe. For smaller markets, test your own niche first.
Older pages are the bigger trap. Two trial pages still quote Individual at $59 and Team at $119 a month, the discounts page offers 5 to 20% for 3- to 12-month periods, and the Team Management help article promises Team up to 4 additional seats. The current pricing page wins on all three, and we count fifteen such pages. Five disagreements have no date to settle them. One trial page lists Rank Tracker access for Freemium while another denies it, and the Team x2 card advertises a $484 annual saving while $209 and $169 differ by $480 a year. Ask sales in writing.
The ratings are thin. Of the 19 Trustpilot reviews, 8 gave five stars and 11 gave one. The five-star reviews praise clustering, rank tracking and price; the one-star reviews cluster on cancellation, trial charges and account bans after February 2022. G2 is the only platform with more than 30 reviews, and Google's snippet credits users with praise for affordable pricing and broad features. TrustRadius and Gartner carry too few ratings to weigh, and we found no Capterra listing. A small, split sample.
Serpstat next to Semrush, Ahrefs, SE Ranking and Mangools
Semrush SEO costs $139 a month or $117.33 billed annually. Paid yearly, Serpstat Team costs $207.96 less and still includes three users, an API and MCP (our arithmetic). Semrush has the bigger ecosystem; Serpstat has the better price. Ahrefs Lite also costs $129 month-to-month, or $1,290 a year, and tracks 750 keywords weekly. Serpstat Team costs $1,200 a year and checks 50,000 positions a month daily. Ahrefs is the backlink specialist. Serpstat is the tracking bargain.
SE Ranking Core costs $129 a month or $103.20 billed annually, with a 14-day trial and no card, while Serpstat Team is $100 billed annually but needs a card for a 7-day trial. On price they are close; on trial terms SE Ranking is friendlier. Mangools is simpler and cheaper at the bottom, with Basic at $49 a month against Serpstat Individual at $69, and the gap pays for daily tracking, a site audit and clustering. Bloggers may prefer Mangools. Anyone auditing sites will not. Our Serpstat vs Semrush comparison goes deeper on the closest rival.
How we score Serpstat
We read 722 Serpstat pages from a US location on 13 October 2026: the pricing pages, 73 help center articles, the changelog, product pages and 152 blog posts. Ratings came from Trustpilot, and from G2, TrustRadius and Gartner as Google indexes them. We did not buy a plan. On our own axes, value for money scores highest, with integrations and AI close behind on the strength of MCP and AI Overview tracking. Ease of use and documentation sit lower, support and reliability lowest, and user sentiment rests on G2 alone. The reasoning for each axis sits on the card below.
Keyword research on 230 Google databases plus Bing US, competitor and PPC research, daily top-100 rank tracking on every plan with AI Overview tracking, backlinks, technical site audit with JavaScript rendering, keyword clustering, batch analysis of up to 100,000 domains or keywords and Market Research rankings. Held back by an Individual plan without API, batch analysis, keyword lists or AI tools, and database sizes the vendor's own pages state five different ways.
One pricing page with a plan table, a Freemium account, report pages that now show ready API and MCP prompts, and self-serve renewal control in Bills. Held back by a pricing page that shows only the annual price, separate credit pools per module that do not roll over, two Team variants on a second pricing page, and a trial that needs a card.
An MCP server with 63 tools over OAuth for Claude and ChatGPT and a local version for Claude Code, Gemini CLI and Cursor, AI Overview rank tracking and a brand-opportunities report, AI Overview fields in the API, AI content tools, Claude Skills and stus.ai agents. Held back by LLM Brand Monitor being a separate subscription and MCP needing the Team plan's API credits.
Individual at $69 a month ($50 billed annually) includes daily rank tracking for 10,000 position checks a month; Team at $129 ($100 billed annually) adds API access with 200,000 credits, MCP and 3 users, against $139 for Semrush SEO and $129 for Ahrefs Lite. Held back by payments the terms call non-refundable and credits that reset every cycle.
Public REST API on Team and above with full Rank Tracker management since April 2026, MCP, an n8n node, Google Sheets, Looker Studio, Airbyte, SEOtools for Excel, Python and R libraries, and extensions for four browsers. Held back by 1 API request per second on every Team plan and white label only on Agency.
An llms.txt, a 90-article help center rewritten in July 2026, a dated public changelog, Serpstat Academy, API docs and a free education program. Held back by five contradictions no page settles (Freemium rank tracking, cancellation notice, data sizes) and fifteen older pages, including trial pages that still quote $59 and $119 plans.
Customer success on every plan, priority chat on Team, phone support and a data engineer on Agency, self-serve renewal control. Held back by terms that call payments non-refundable and ask for 15 days' emailed notice, and a Trustpilot profile where 11 of 19 reviews are one-star, with login, cancellation and trial charges the common themes.
Positive where the sample is large: G2 4.6 from 466 (Google-indexed on 13 October 2026). Smaller samples split: Trustpilot 3.0 from 19, TrustRadius 5 of 5 from 28, Gartner Peer Insights 3.9 from 6. Axis score 4.6: the mean of each platform owner's displayed rating with at least 30 reviews, weighted by review count (G2 4.6 (466); 466 reviews in all), with Capterra, GetApp and Software Advice counted once as Gartner.
Weighted across the axes above (weights reflect what actually drives the decision in this category). How we score →
That lands Serpstat at 3.8/5: strong on price, daily tracking and the API, held back by refund terms, credit math and pages nobody updated.

The bottom line
Serpstat gives you daily rank tracking, a real API and MCP for less than Semrush or Ahrefs charge for plans that track weekly or do less. Its weak spots are paperwork, not features. Start the Team trial, switch off renewal in Bills on day one and email support as well, then decide by day six. If you buy, pay annually only after a month on the monthly plan. Buy Team. Mind the terms.
