The verdict on SocialBee

SocialBee is a social media scheduler built around one idea: sort your posts into content categories, give each category slots in a weekly posting schedule, and let evergreen posts come back around on their own. That makes it a strong fit for solopreneurs, small businesses and small agencies that publish a steady mix of tips, promotions and blog links and would rather not refill a calendar every Monday. It is priced per plan, not per seat, and the entry plan costs $29 a month billed monthly. There is no free plan. The weak spots sit around the edges: a thin inbox, Facebook-only competitor analysis, no public API and a rough summer of outages.

The company behind it, SocialBee LABS, is based in Cluj-Napoca, Romania. Ovi Negrean and Vlad Hosu founded it in 2016 and kept it bootstrapped for years. In August 2024 it became part of WebPros, the group behind cPanel and Plesk, and that shows in small ways. Accounts created since January 15, 2025 sign in through WebPros, the privacy policy is the WebPros group policy, and a cPanel integration lets a hosting customer draft a social strategy there and carry it into SocialBee. WebPros said at the time of the deal that it was not changing prices, and the plans are still sold per plan rather than per user.

⚠️
Watch out
Missed posts are not re-sent

In a July 27-28 incident reported on SocialBee's changelog (the post gives no year), about 12 hours of scheduled posts were not published and were not re-sent later. Check the failed-posts view after anything time-sensitive.

Content categories and recycling: the idea at the core

Most schedulers treat each post as a one-off appointment on a calendar. SocialBee treats a post as a member of a category, such as tips, blog posts, promotions or quotes, and you give each category time slots in a weekly posting schedule. When a slot comes up, the next post in that category goes out. Evergreen categories cycle: after the last post is shared, the queue returns to the first one, and a post with several variations publishes one variation per cycle, so followers do not see the same caption every time. This is the reason to choose SocialBee over a plain calendar tool. Nothing else in the product matters as much.

Not everything should repeat, and the controls for that are good. A post can expire after a set number of shares or at a specific date and hour, and expiry works on RSS and bulk imports as well as on posts written in the editor. Share-once posts go out a single time and are then archived, like expired posts, so you can restore them from the posting history. Categories and whole profiles can be paused for a holiday or a crisis. Content sources such as RSS feeds fill categories on their own, though a feed pauses after three failed fetches, and the dashboard can fill an empty category with six AI-written posts to get you started.

Build categories before you schedule

Sort your existing posts into evergreen, expiring and share-once categories first. The weekly schedule only pays off once each category has enough posts to rotate.

What each plan costs and what it gates

SocialBee publishes six self-serve plans in US dollars, before VAT, GST or other taxes, and the yearly price always equals ten monthly payments, which the vendor sells as two months free [1]. The first three plans are the ones most small businesses compare, while the three agency tiers carry every Pro feature and simply raise the number of profiles, workspaces and users. The grid below covers the price of each plan in both billing periods, plus the two limits that usually decide which plan a buyer needs.

Plan Billed monthly Billed annually Profiles Users
Bootstrap $29 a month $290 a year ($24.20 a month) 5 1
Accelerate $49 a month $490 a year ($40.80 a month) 10 1
Pro $99 a month $990 a year ($82.50 a month) 25 3 per workspace
Pro50 $179 a month $1,790 a year ($149.20 a month) 50 5 per workspace
Pro100 $329 a month $3,290 a year ($274.20 a month) 100 5 per workspace
Pro150 $449 a month $4,490 a year ($374.20 a month) 150 5 per workspace

What each tier unlocks

Bootstrap is a one-person plan with five profiles, one workspace, ten categories, ten content sources and three months of analytics history. It leaves out CSV upload, the bulk editor, the hashtag organizer, post approvals, internal notes and report export. Accelerate, labelled most popular, doubles the profiles to ten and adds two years of analytics, advanced analytics, the hashtag organizer, the bulk editor, CSV import and post approvals, still for one user. Pro is the first real team plan, with 25 profiles, three users per workspace, five workspaces, unlimited categories and sources, internal notes and PDF report export. The agency tiers add workspaces in steps of ten.

The real cost once you add people

Add-ons are sold in the app on any plan: an extra user or an extra workspace costs $10 a month ($100 a year), and five extra profiles cost $15 a month ($150 a year). That changes the math for small teams. A two-person shop that wants approvals can stay on Accelerate and add one user, which comes to $59 a month by our arithmetic, against $99 a month for Pro. A third person brings it to $69 a month. A solo owner with eight profiles can add a five-profile pack to Bootstrap for $44 a month, slightly under Accelerate's $49 a month. Annual billing on Pro saves $198 over twelve monthly payments.

Is SocialBee free?

No. There is no free plan at any level. New accounts get a 14-day trial of Pro with no credit card, and when it ends the account locks until you choose a paid plan, so plan the trial around real work rather than a quick look. NGOs and educational institutions can get 50% off every plan by emailing proof of registration, for the organization's own social accounts only, and the discount stacks with yearly billing. A Concierge Migration service, where the team moves your content from another tool, costs $199 once; it is currently free with a yearly plan as a time-limited offer, capped at 8 working hours on Bootstrap and Accelerate and 16 on Pro. The pricing page still shows an old birthday sale banner. That sale is over.

Refunds, renewal and the fine print

The 30-day money-back guarantee covers the initial purchase only, on monthly or yearly plans [2]. Renewals are not covered, migrations done by the SocialBee team are not covered, and there are no prorated refunds for cancelling mid-month, mid-year or after a renewal has gone through. Plans renew automatically. Payments run through FastSpring, which says it emails a reminder a month before a yearly renewal, and you can pause a subscription for one to three months, during which nothing posts. A cancelled plan runs to the end of its paid period. No lifetime deal is on sale today.

⚠️
Watch out
Refunds end at the first purchase

The 30-day money-back guarantee covers only the initial purchase, and there are no prorated refunds after a renewal. Cancel before a yearly renewal if you plan to leave.

Where it publishes, and where it only reminds you

Direct publishing covers Facebook Pages, Instagram, Threads, LinkedIn profiles and pages, Pinterest, TikTok, YouTube, Google Business Profile and Bluesky. X is the confusing one. SocialBee's help center describes direct X posting as a Direct Posting add-on at $10 a month, and its own pages disagree on whether that rule applies only to old lifetime plans or to every account. Without the add-on, the help center says X posts arrive as phone reminders. Anyone who leans on X should confirm the current terms with SocialBee before buying. There is no support for X threads or Threads chains, and one post cannot go out at different times on different profiles.

Everything else goes through Universal Posting, which prepares the post and sends a reminder to the mobile app so you can publish it by hand. That covers Facebook Groups, which no third-party tool can post to directly since Meta closed the Groups API on April 22, 2024, plus Facebook personal profiles, Instagram personal accounts, Reddit, WhatsApp, Telegram and Mastodon. It is a workaround. For community managers who live in Facebook Groups, though, a reminder with the caption and media ready is better than nothing, and the same reminder route is where SocialBee sends Instagram and TikTok posts that miss the direct-posting requirements.

The format gaps worth knowing

Instagram Reels publish directly only for Business profiles; Creator and personal accounts get reminders. Stories post directly for Business and Creator, and carousels post directly for Business, though SocialBee's carousel help page still names the Facebook-Page connection for that, so use that route if carousels matter. Product tags, link stickers, music and filters are not supported. On TikTok, a single video posts directly, while photo posts and multi-video posts go through reminders, TikTok Stories are not supported and line breaks in captions are dropped. Bluesky takes text up to 300 characters and up to four images, but no video, no GIFs and no first comment. SocialBee caps TikTok and Pinterest at 25 posts per account a day, and a CSV import takes up to 300 items, with no carousels.

The inbox and analytics stop short

The Engage inbox handles comments, mentions and direct messages for Facebook Pages and Instagram Business accounts, comments and mentions for Threads, LinkedIn pages and X, and comments for YouTube. It does not cover TikTok, Pinterest, Bluesky or Google Business Profile, so a brand that gets most of its comments on TikTok will still answer them in the TikTok app. There are no auto-replies, no way to assign a conversation to a teammate and no AI reply suggestions. For one person clearing comments once a day, that is workable. For a team splitting a busy inbox, it is not.

Analytics cover nine networks. History depends on the plan: three months on Bootstrap and two years from Accelerate up, with PDF export only on Pro and the agency tiers. Some networks keep less, since YouTube data stays for 30 days with no export, Pinterest for 90 days and Google Business Profile for 18 months. Competitor analysis and the organic-versus-paid split exist for Facebook only. There is no social listening and no sentiment analysis, and SocialBee itself says it is mainly a management tool. Meta's changes also bite here: Facebook Impressions gave way to Views from June 23, 2026, and Instagram impressions and plays are gone.

Copilot and the AI layer

Copilot is SocialBee's AI strategist. It reads your website, or asks questions in a chat if you have none, fills in your business name, services, tone and audience, then recommends platforms, content categories and a posting schedule. It finishes with ten AI-written posts with images, saved as drafts for you to review. For a small business starting from an empty account, that is a genuinely useful first hour. Accounts that used the previous Copilot see a one-time pop-up: Yes starts the new flow and resets the Copilot setup, while posts it generated earlier and your existing categories stay, and Maybe later keeps the old version.

Everyday AI lives in the post editor. Caption writing and variations have no monthly cap on any plan, under a fair-use rule that SocialBee says may change, and each request returns up to ten caption variations or four images. More than 1,000 prompt templates are sorted by platform, business type and use case. Image generation moved from DALL-E 3 to GPT-Image-1, and logos cannot be added to AI images. Copilot and the post generator run on OpenAI's API, and the WebPros privacy policy, updated on September 29, 2026, says AI inputs and outputs are not used to train or fine-tune any model. The inbox gets no AI at all.

Let Copilot draft, then edit

Copilot builds a strategy and ten draft posts with images from your website. Treat them as a first draft; your existing categories stay intact when it runs, and new ones are added on top.

Integrations, and does SocialBee have an API?

No. SocialBee has no public API, and its help center places one on the long-term roadmap with no timeline [3]. There is no n8n integration, and we found no MCP server or ChatGPT or Claude connector on SocialBee's site or help center. Automation goes through Zapier, Make, Pabbly and Boost.space, and the Zapier side is narrow: SocialBee offers one action, Create Post, and the post arrives as approved or as a draft. That is enough to push new blog articles or product listings into a category. It is not enough to pull analytics into a dashboard.

The design side changed after Canva began retiring the old Canva Button API, first set for December 31, 2025 and later extended. The Canva integration now only imports finished files, in JPG, PNG, PDF, PPTX, GIF or MP4, because editing Canva designs inside SocialBee ended when Canva retired the old connection. Unsplash and GIPHY sit inside the editor, more than ten URL shorteners plug in, among them Bitly, Rebrandly and Switchy, and the cPanel link carries a strategy built there into SocialBee. The browser extension was retired in March 2026, and Pocket ended in July 2025. There is no white-label version of the software, though agencies can resell the done-for-you services of ConciergeBee, SocialBee's in-house agency.

Reliability, as SocialBee's own changelog reports it

SocialBee deserves credit for writing up its incidents in public, and its changelog makes uncomfortable reading. In July (the changelog post gives no year), the SocialBee API went down from a Saturday morning to the following Monday, which took the mobile app, Zapier and Make with it. Barely a week later, on July 27 and 28 (again with no year on the post), about twelve hours of scheduled posts were never published, and they were not sent afterwards, so customers had to recreate or reschedule them [4]. A DNS issue separately disrupted the mobile app, analytics, the inbox and the Zapier, Pabbly and Make connections.

Some failures started at the networks. TikTok posting broke from August 12 to September 7, 2026, and SocialBee advised publishing through mobile reminders until it was fixed. An April entry describes several days of failed Instagram and Threads posting caused by Meta API errors, and Threads connection problems recur in the log. Every multi-network tool lives with that. Lost posts that are never retried are another matter. If SocialBee carries a launch or a time-sensitive promotion, check the failed-posts view after the slot, and keep the status page bookmarked.

Support and what users say

Support starts with a bot. The in-app chat is answered first by BuzzBee, an AI assistant, and a human takes over when you reply to its email asking for one. Beyond that there is email, bookable support and demo calls, a monthly demo webinar, a help center of 142 articles, the changelog and a public roadmap where users vote on features. Security basics are covered: two-factor authentication, also in the mobile app, and certification under the EU-U.S., UK and Swiss Data Privacy Framework. No SOC 2 or ISO 27001 certificate is named on its site or help center, which matters to buyers who must fill out vendor questionnaires.

The picture splits cleanly. Reviewers on business-software platforms rate SocialBee highly, and SocialBee shows leader badges from them on its own pages, while the iOS and Android apps are rated poorly, which matters because Universal Posting depends on them. Trustpilot works as a map of complaints, not a trend, and its low-star reviews cluster around support, account access and login, refunds, reliability and renewals. Those themes line up with the record above: the move to WebPros sign-on, a refund rule that ends at the first purchase, and the summer outages. Treat them as the areas to test during the trial.

Who should pick SocialBee, and who should skip it

Pick SocialBee if you have a library of posts worth repeating. A consultant recycling blog articles and tips, a local business rotating offers and reviews, or a small agency running five to fifty client profiles from separate workspaces all get real value from categories and evergreen queues. NGOs and schools gain the most per dollar, thanks to the 50% discount. Teams that post into Facebook Groups, Telegram or WhatsApp also get a structured reminder flow for those networks. Pro is the plan most teams should start from, since it is where several users, internal notes and PDF reports come together.

Skip it if your work depends on what SocialBee lacks: a shared inbox for TikTok or Pinterest, listening and sentiment, an API for your own reporting, n8n or AI-assistant automation, white label, or heavy daily use of X. Rivals price differently. Buffer charges per channel and keeps a free plan for three channels. Metricool has a free plan, and its Starter plan costs $25 a month billed monthly ($20 a month billed annually) for up to five brands. Hootsuite and Sprout Social charge per seat, which gets expensive as a team grows. Our SocialBee alternatives guide walks through each of them.

How we score SocialBee

We read SocialBee's pricing page from the United States in October 2026, along with its help center, its changelog, its terms of service and privacy policy, and its product and industry pages, and we checked every claim against the page that supports it. Where two pages disagreed, the newer and more authoritative one won. We did not buy a plan or run SocialBee on live accounts. The score weights our social media rubric, and the reasoning for each axis sits on the card below, with value and user sentiment at the top and support at the bottom.

That puts SocialBee at 3.6/5 among the social media tools we score (by current score: Metricool 3.98, Sprout Social 3.93, Buffer 3.92, Hootsuite 3.79, Sendible 3.65, SocialBee 3.62, Later 3.15): good value and a scheduling model that really saves time, held back by a narrow inbox, Facebook-only competitor data, no public API and support that starts with a bot. The gap to the tools above it is about reach and depth, not price. A small team that mainly needs a steady, recycled posting rhythm will feel little of it.

Frequently asked questions

Is SocialBee worth it?+

For solo marketers, small businesses and small agencies that recycle evergreen content, yes: content categories save real time and pricing is per plan, not per seat. It is a weaker fit if you need a full inbox, listening or an API.

Is SocialBee free?+

No. There is no free plan; new accounts get a 14-day trial of Pro with no credit card, and the account locks when the trial ends until you pick a paid plan.

Does SocialBee have an API?+

No. SocialBee has no public API, and its help center places one on the long-term roadmap without a timeline. Automation runs through Zapier, Make, Pabbly and Boost.space.

Is SocialBee legit?+

Yes. It has run since 2016, is part of WebPros, the company behind cPanel and Plesk, since August 2024, and bills through FastSpring.

Can I get a refund from SocialBee?+

Within 30 days of the initial purchase, on monthly or yearly plans. Renewals are not covered and there are no prorated refunds.

Does SocialBee post to X directly?+

Its help center describes direct X posting as a paid Direct Posting add-on and disagrees on whether that applies only to old lifetime plans. Confirm with SocialBee before relying on X.

The bottom line

SocialBee is worth it for one kind of buyer: a solo marketer, small business or small agency with a library of content that deserves more than one outing. Content categories and evergreen queues do that job better than a plain calendar, the AI gets an empty account moving quickly, and plan pricing stays fair once a few users join. Start the trial with real posts, check whether your networks publish directly or only by reminder, and confirm the X terms. Remember that the refund window covers the first purchase only. If the inbox, listening or an API sit at the center of your work, look elsewhere. Our SocialBee pricing guide has the plan math in full.
