SocialBee's competitor analysis

SocialBee vs Metricool at a glance

SocialBee and Metricool both schedule posts across the main social networks, both offer an inbox and both lean on AI. They come from different starting points, though. SocialBee, a Romanian tool owned by WebPros since August 2024, is built around content categories that fill a weekly posting schedule and recycle evergreen posts on their own. Metricool, made by Metricool Software SL in Madrid, is built around analytics: unlimited history on paid plans, competitor tracking on Facebook, Instagram, Threads, Bluesky, YouTube, Twitch and (with the add-on) X, ads reporting and an official MCP server for Claude and ChatGPT. One is a publishing engine. The other is a measurement desk that also publishes.

The pricing models differ just as much, and that is where most buyers get confused. SocialBee sells six plans priced per plan, each with a set number of social profiles, users and workspaces. Metricool sells plans priced per bundle of brands, where one brand holds all the social networks of a single business. We read both vendors' pricing pages, help centers and our own dossiers to compare them on cost, publishing, analytics, the inbox, AI and the API. We then worked out three real setups, from a solo creator to an agency with dozens of clients.

Why a brand and a profile are not the same unit

This is the single most important difference, and it changes every price comparison. A SocialBee profile is one connected social account: an Instagram account, a Facebook Page or a LinkedIn page each count as one. A Metricool brand is a whole business with all its networks inside it. One bakery with Instagram, Facebook, TikTok and a Google Business Profile is four profiles on SocialBee and one brand on Metricool. Read the numbers side by side and they look similar, five profiles here and five brands there. They are not. Five brands can hold twenty or more accounts.

So the right question is not which plan costs less, but how many businesses and how many accounts per business you manage. SocialBee Bootstrap covers 5 profiles for $29 a month billed monthly, or $290 a year billed annually [1]. Metricool Starter covers up to 5 brands for $25 a month billed monthly, or $20 a month billed annually, which by our arithmetic comes to $240 a year [2]. For a single brand with four networks, both plans have room. For five brands with four networks each, Bootstrap would be fifteen profiles short while Starter still fits.

Plan Billed monthly Billed annually What it covers
SocialBee Bootstrap $29 a month $290 a year 5 profiles, 1 user
SocialBee Accelerate $49 a month $490 a year 10 profiles, 1 user
SocialBee Pro $99 a month $990 a year 25 profiles, 3 users per workspace
SocialBee Pro50 $179 a month $1,790 a year 50 profiles, 10 workspaces
Metricool Free no charge no charge 1 brand, 20 posts a month
Metricool Starter $25 a month $20 a month, billed annually up to 5 brands, 1 user
Metricool Advanced $67 a month $53 a month, billed annually up to 15 brands, unlimited users

Both tools sell in steps rather than per seat. The steps simply climb on different measures, so count what you actually run before you read the table. Prices on both sides exclude VAT and other taxes, which are added at checkout. Larger tiers exist in both lineups, and the setups below show where each one starts to matter. Users matter as well. Count them too.

What real setups cost

A solo creator with one brand

Picture one person running Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn and a Facebook Page for their own business. SocialBee Bootstrap fits at $29 a month billed monthly, with one profile to spare. Metricool's free plan covers one brand but leaves out LinkedIn and X and stops at 20 published posts a month, so a creator who posts daily or needs LinkedIn will outgrow it fast. That points to Metricool Starter at $25 a month billed monthly. By our arithmetic, Metricool Starter costs $4 a month less than SocialBee Bootstrap on monthly billing, and $50 a year less on annual billing. At this size the gap is small. The choice should rest on workflow, not price.

A small business with three people

Now take one business with six networks and three people who post. SocialBee Bootstrap and Accelerate include one user each, and Metricool Starter also has one user. On the SocialBee side, Accelerate with two extra users is the cheapest route with approvals. On the Metricool side, more than one user means Advanced, which includes unlimited users, roles and post approval. By our arithmetic, SocialBee Accelerate plus two users comes to $69 a month billed monthly against $67 a month for Metricool Advanced, so the two land within a few dollars. On annual billing, SocialBee would run $690 a year and Metricool $636 a year. If the team wants internal notes or PDF report exports from SocialBee, that means Pro at $99 a month billed monthly.

An agency with 15 to 50 clients

Agencies feel the unit difference most. Take 15 clients with three networks each, which is 15 brands but 45 profiles. SocialBee Pro50 covers 50 profiles and 10 workspaces, so five more client workspaces at $10 a month each are needed. By our arithmetic, that SocialBee setup costs $229 a month billed monthly, while Metricool Advanced covers 15 brands with unlimited users for $67 a month. At 50 brands, Metricool's published price for Advanced is $210 a month billed monthly, or $159 a month billed annually. A SocialBee agency with 50 clients would need at least 150 profiles and 50 workspaces. Pro150 covers the profiles but only 30 workspaces, so 20 extra workspaces at $10 a month each are needed: by our arithmetic, $649 a month billed monthly, against $210 a month billed monthly for Metricool Advanced at 50 brands. For many small clients, Metricool is far cheaper. The per-profile unit hurts most when clients are numerous and each runs only a few accounts.

💡
Toolkit tip
Count brands and profiles separately

List every business you manage and every account inside it. Metricool bills on the first number and SocialBee on the second, so the cheaper tool depends on your ratio.

Metricool's no-cost tier versus SocialBee's 14-day trial

Metricool keeps a plan that costs nothing, with no card required. It covers one brand with all its networks except LinkedIn and X, up to 20 published posts a month, a fixed demo of 5 competitor profiles per network, 30 days of analytics, an AI assistant with 5 credits a month and the Metricool MCP. Reports, SmartLinks, Flows, Studio and Canva are not included. There is no standard trial of the paid plans; trials come only through promotional or affiliate codes. For a creator testing the waters, that is a generous way in.

SocialBee works the other way round. There is no free plan. New accounts get a 14-day trial of Pro without a card, and when it ends the account locks until you choose a paid plan. Your settings and content are kept. Because the trial runs on Pro, it shows features such as internal notes and report export that Bootstrap and Accelerate leave out. After you pay, a 30-day money-back guarantee applies to the first purchase only. It does not cover renewals, and SocialBee gives no prorated refunds, mid-term or after a renewal. Metricool's window is shorter: a 15-day withdrawal right on the first purchase only, with no refunds on renewals and no prorated refund when an annual plan is cancelled mid-cycle. Start monthly if you are unsure. Our SocialBee pricing guide covers the billing rules in more depth.

Content categories versus Metricool's planner

SocialBee's planner is its reason to exist. Every post lives in a category, such as tips, promotions or blog posts, and each category fills slots on a weekly schedule. Evergreen categories cycle through all their posts and start again after the last one is shared. Other categories can expire posts on a date or share them once, after which they are archived. A post with variations publishes one variation per cycle, so a recycled post does not look identical every time. RSS and other content sources can feed categories automatically. The result is a schedule that keeps running for months with little upkeep.

Metricool plans posts on a drag-and-drop calendar with previews and suggested best times. It has autolists of up to 200 posts, RSS, a post library of 250 posts per brand on paid plans and recurring posts on Advanced for up to 180 days. Its editor handles images and video and connects to Canva, Adobe Express and Google Drive. Most formats publish automatically, while Instagram Stories with links or stickers and some Reels arrive as notifications. Instagram is capped at 50 posts per 24 hours through the API, and published posts cannot be edited from Metricool.

The difference is narrower than it looks. Metricool's autolists can also recycle posts: with Repeat on, a list of up to 200 posts loops on a weekly schedule. SocialBee goes further, with many categories filling one weekly schedule, expiry and share-once rules, and post variations. A consultant with 300 evergreen tips will get more from categories, while a brand that plans campaign by campaign may prefer a plain calendar. On networks, SocialBee covers Facebook Groups, Reddit, WhatsApp and others only through mobile reminders, and Metricool does not publish to Facebook Groups at all.

💡
Toolkit tip
Test evergreen before you leave

If you rely on a library of recycled posts, try SocialBee's categories during the 14-day trial. Metricool's autolists can loop up to 200 posts, but SocialBee's categories add per-category slots, expiry rules and post variations.

Analytics, competitors and ads

This is where Metricool pulls clearly ahead. Paid plans keep unlimited analytics history, track up to 100 competitors per network (10 on YouTube) on Facebook, Instagram, Threads, Bluesky, YouTube, Twitch and X (X needs the add-on), though not TikTok, LinkedIn or Pinterest, and export PDF and PowerPoint reports from Starter. Advanced adds custom report templates and a Looker Studio connector. Metricool Studio builds reports from a prompt, and a cookie-free tracker covers your website or blog. Ads are part of the package: reporting for Meta, Google and TikTok ads, campaign creation for Meta and Google, and post boosts charged to your Meta ads account.

SocialBee's analytics cover nine networks, with 3 months of history on Bootstrap and 2 years from Accelerate. PDF export starts on Pro. Competitor analysis exists, but it is Facebook only, and so is the organic-versus-paid split. There is no social listening and no sentiment analysis; SocialBee itself describes the product as mainly a management tool. Metricool has no social listening either, only a Hashtag Tracker bought by the day at $25 a day per network. Some network data is shorter than the plan allows, too: YouTube keeps 30 days, Pinterest 90 days. A team that reports to clients every month, or watches rivals on Instagram and YouTube, will find Metricool's analytics far deeper.

The inbox and replying at scale

SocialBee's Engage inbox gathers comments, mentions and direct messages for Facebook Pages and Instagram Business, comments and mentions for Threads, LinkedIn pages and X, and comments for YouTube [3]. TikTok, Pinterest, Bluesky and Google Business Profile are not in it. There are no auto-replies and no conversation assignment, so a team splits the work by habit rather than by tool. For a small team answering a few dozen comments a day, that is workable.

Metricool's inbox handles comments, direct messages and reviews per brand, also without assignment, auto-replies or the option to hide comments. Its extra is Flows, which automate Instagram comment and DM replies and TikTok comment replies, with up to three rotating variations for an Instagram public comment reply; a TikTok DM Flow is announced as coming soon, in the US only. Flows are free on paid plans for a limited time, and Metricool has announced them as a future paid add-on. Neither inbox is built for a large support desk. Plan around that. If automated replies on Instagram matter, Metricool has the edge.

⚠️
Watch out
Neither inbox assigns conversations

Both inboxes lack assignment and auto-replies; SocialBee's leaves out TikTok, Pinterest, Bluesky and Google Business Profile. Metricool's Flows automate Instagram and TikTok replies but are announced as a future paid add-on.

AI, MCP and the API

SocialBee's AI is generous. It has no meter. Captions and variations have no monthly cap on any plan, under fair use, and Copilot reads your website to build a strategy: platforms, content categories, a posting schedule and ten AI posts with images saved as drafts. Images now come from GPT-Image-1 through OpenAI's API, and the WebPros privacy policy says AI inputs and outputs are not used to train any model. Metricool counts AI in credits instead: 5 a month on the free plan, 20 per brand a month on Starter and 35 on Advanced, with unlimited AI alt text on Advanced.

The bigger gap is outside the app. Metricool runs an official MCP server, open source, with Claude and ChatGPT connectors on every plan including the free one. It reaches brands, analytics and the planner, though not the inbox, ads management or autolists. Its REST API is included on Advanced and Custom (we found no published call limit for Advanced), and it powers the Zapier, Make and n8n connections. SocialBee has no public API and no timeline for one [4]. We found no MCP server or ChatGPT/Claude connector on SocialBee's site or help center, and it has no n8n node. Its Zapier action is Create Post only, with Make, Pabbly and Boost.space also listed. Metricool sells white label only on its Custom plan, and SocialBee does not white-label the software at all.

X, security and the smaller print

X costs extra on both tools, in different ways. Metricool charges an X add-on of $10 a month for each connected X account on plans bought on the web since July 13, 2026 (earlier buyers keep $5), and its free plan leaves X out. SocialBee's help center describes direct X posting as a $10-a-month add-on, and its pages disagree on whether that applies only to old lifetime plans. Confirm with SocialBee before relying on X. SocialBee's own Metricool comparison page still quotes the old $5 fee, which is one more reason to read each vendor on its own site.

On data, Metricool keeps customer data on servers in the European Union with no international transfers, offers a GDPR data processing agreement on request and bars its AI providers from training on customer content. SocialBee holds EU-U.S., UK and Swiss Data Privacy Framework certification. No SOC 2 or ISO 27001 certificate is named on its site or help center, and we found no published security certification for Metricool either. Both offer two-factor authentication. Metricool's is off by default. Turn it on.

What reviewers say

Business-software reviewers are positive about SocialBee, and they praise the category system and the price for a small team. The mobile apps are another story; their store ratings are poor, and a phone-first creator should weigh that. Trustpilot reviews work best as a map of complaints, and for SocialBee those cluster around support, account access, refunds, reliability and renewals. SocialBee's own changelog records a service outage in July (the changelog post gives no year) and a TikTok posting failure from August 12 to September 7, 2026. In our scoring SocialBee holds 3.62 and Metricool 3.98; our social category by current score: Metricool 3.98, Sprout Social 3.93, Buffer 3.92, Hootsuite 3.79, Sendible 3.65, SocialBee 3.62, Later 3.15. Our Metricool review explains how Metricool earned its score.

Who should pick which

Pick SocialBee if you run one business or a handful of clients with many accounts each and want a schedule that refills itself. Content categories with evergreen, expiry and share-once rules, post variations, AI captions with no monthly cap (fair use) and Copilot's ready-made strategy suit coaches, consultants and small teams who post the same kinds of content week after week. Flat per-plan pricing with cheap extra users keeps a team of three predictable.

Pick Metricool if you manage many small brands, need analytics you can show a client, or want competitors, ads and reports in the same tool. It also wins for anyone who wants a free plan with no time limit, connect Claude or ChatGPT through MCP, or build on a REST API. Skip it if your content strategy depends on many evergreen categories sharing one schedule, with expiry rules and post variations. Skip SocialBee if you need competitor tracking beyond Facebook or an API. Both gaps are real.

Frequently asked questions

Is SocialBee or Metricool cheaper?+

For one business they are close: SocialBee Bootstrap costs $29 a month billed monthly and Metricool Starter costs $25 a month billed monthly. For agencies with many small clients Metricool is usually far cheaper, because it bills per brand rather than per profile.

What is the difference between a brand and a profile?+

A SocialBee profile is one connected social account. A Metricool brand is one business with all its social networks inside it, so one brand can hold several profiles.

Does SocialBee have a free plan like Metricool?+

No. SocialBee offers a 14-day trial of Pro without a card, after which the account locks until you pay. Metricool has a plan that costs nothing for one brand, without LinkedIn or X and with 20 published posts a month.

Which tool has better competitor analysis?+

Metricool tracks up to 100 competitors per network (10 on YouTube) on paid plans, on Facebook, Instagram, Threads, Bluesky, YouTube, Twitch and X (with the add-on), but not TikTok or LinkedIn. SocialBee's competitor analysis covers Facebook only. Neither offers social listening; Metricool sells a Hashtag Tracker by the day.

Can I connect SocialBee or Metricool to Claude or ChatGPT?+

Metricool runs an official MCP server with Claude and ChatGPT connectors on every plan, including the free one. We found no MCP server or ChatGPT/Claude connector for SocialBee, and it has no public API.

Does SocialBee give refunds?+

Only within 30 days of the first purchase. Renewals are not covered and there are no prorated refunds.

The bottom line

SocialBee and Metricool solve different problems at similar entry prices. SocialBee is the better publishing engine for one business or a few clients: categories with evergreen rules and post variations, plus AI with no monthly cap (fair use), keep a schedule full with little effort, though there is no free plan and the refund covers only the first 30 days after the first purchase (Metricool allows 15 days). Metricool is the better choice for agencies with many small brands and for anyone who lives in analytics, because its brand-based pricing, free plan, competitor tracking, ads reporting, API and MCP give far more reach per dollar. Count brands and profiles separately before you compare, since that one unit decides most of the bill.
