Canva's pricing is simple for one person and gets more complicated with the second. Free costs nothing. Pro is for a single person. Business is billed per person, and Enterprise is a quote. Underneath all four sits a monthly AI allowance that has its own add-ons and its own rules. Every figure below was read from Canva's pricing page served for the United States on 9 October 2026, before tax, unless we say otherwise.

The list prices

Plan Yearly Monthly Who it is for
Free US$0 US$0 One person
Pro US$144 US$18 One person
Business US$250 per person US$25 per person One person or a team, no minimum
Enterprise On request On request Organisations, through sales

The pricing page shows the yearly figures on its cards and lists "Prices exclude applicable tax." in its footnotes [2]. The monthly figures are in the same page's price data. In the US, Canva adds sales tax where required, based on your billing address [2].

Toolkit tip

Pay yearly for Pro once you are sure; the saving is a third.

## What yearly billing saves

Paying monthly for a year of Pro costs US$216; the yearly plan costs US$144, a saving of US$72, or a third. For Business the monthly route costs US$300 per person over a year against US$250 yearly, a saving of US$50 per person, about 17%. The pricing page advertises "Save from 16%", which is the floor across the two plans; Pro's discount is twice that on the page served to us. Our arithmetic, on the page's figures.

The Pro price has moved

The archived copy of the same pricing page, captured on 5 August 2026, carried Pro's yearly price as US$180 in its price data, under different price identifiers from the ones served on 9 October [85]. The monthly price, US$18, was the same in both. We cannot tell from the outside whether the lower yearly figure is a new list price, an offer, or a test shown to some visitors, and Canva does not say. The practical advice: check the yearly price at checkout, and screenshot it.

💡
Toolkit tip

Compare Business with Pro plus AI Pass only if AI is the bottleneck.

## How the bill is put together

The list price is the starting point. Tax is added on top: in the US, sales tax where required based on the billing address, and you see the total before you confirm [2]. Canva accepts PayPal and major cards, plus local payment methods in some countries [2]. Plans renew automatically at the end of each period, and a monthly plan due on a date the next month lacks, such as the 31st, renews on that month's last day [16]. Charges appear on a statement as Canva, as Canva with an invoice number, or as an Apple or Google charge if you subscribed in an app [15].

Business: priced per person, billed per acceptance

Business launched on 30 October 2025 with this line: "Canva Business is available for US$20 per person per month, with no seat minimum" [8]. On 9 October 2026 the monthly price was US$25, a rise of 25% in under a year.

How invitations are billed depends on which of two billing models your team is on, and Canva's own pages disagree about it. The pricing page's FAQ says "you only pay for the team members who accept your invitation" [2]. The help article on Business billing describes a second model, billing by seats, in which "Seats are billed in the next billing cycle, even if an invite hasn’t been accepted yet" . On that model, removing a member or cancelling an invitation does not remove the seat; you reduce the seat count yourself before the next billing date . If your Settings show Manage seats, you are on seats. Yearly plans are billed every three months for seats added since the last bill .

The cost in a straight line:

No volume discount is published below Enterprise. Removing a seat does not return money: the Terms of Use say "You will not receive a refund or credit for removing seats from your Team that have already been paid for." [10]

⚠️
Watch out

Seats removed mid-year are not refunded.

## Switching between Pro and Business

Moving from Pro to Business takes effect at the Business rate from your next billing date, and you are also prompted to upgrade when you add a first team member or open a Business-only feature such as ad insights or Flourish [17]. Moving back is not symmetrical. Cancelling Business does not reinstate Pro; you buy Pro again at the price shown that day [17]. A prepaid Pro plan cannot switch mid-term. If you want to test Business, start a Business trial from a separate decision rather than converting a Pro plan you are happy with.

The annual true-up

On a yearly Business plan, new members are not charged the day they join. Canva emails the team admin about the upcoming charge and gives a notice period to adjust the team size first; on monthly plans the change simply lands at the next renewal [2]. Read those emails. They are the last point at which a forgotten invitation costs nothing. Tax-exempt organisations can submit an exemption certificate so sales tax is not added [2].

⚠️
Watch out

The yearly Pro price differed between August and October captures.

## Pro or Business for one person

Business costs US$106 a year more than Pro for a single person, about 1.74 times as much. What the extra buys: double the AI allowance (up to 400 Premium uses a month against 200), AI top-ups, ad performance insights for Meta campaigns, Flourish charts, 100 Brand Kits with approvals, 500GB of storage and 10% off print orders [7]. If none of those is on your list, Pro is the plan. If you burn through the Pro AI allowance every month, Business is cheaper than the next step up, which is AI Pass.

AI Pass and top-ups

AI Pass is a recurring add-on for Pro, Teams, Business and Nonprofits plans: "AI Pass is USD $100 globally per person, per month." [5] It multiplies the allowance by 40 on Pro and by 20 on Business. On a yearly Pro plan, twelve months of AI Pass bring the year to US$1,344, more than nine times the plan alone. On Business, the monthly cost per person becomes US$125. It is not available on Free, Education or Enterprise, on trials, on prepaid plans, or on subscriptions bought through Apple or Google [5].

Business users have a cheaper option for a busy month: a top-up adds one month's Business allowance, to be used within 30 days, and does not renew [6]. Only one top-up can be active at a time.

Worked examples

Four buyers, priced at the US list figures of 9 October 2026, before tax. Our arithmetic.

Reading the AI meter

The allowance resets on your billing date, monthly, even on a yearly plan: renew on the 14th and it resets on the 14th of every month [4]. Each member has their own meter. Top-ups and the plan's allowance are tracked separately, and AI tools spend whichever allowance expires first [6]. Only one top-up can be active at a time. Run out entirely and generations slow down rather than stop: Canva describes "a brief pause between generations" until the allowance refreshes [6]. Plan for that pause in a deadline week.

The trial

Pro and Business both have a free trial. Three rules matter. It is available "once per Canva account and once per payment method" [11]. Its AI allowance is the Free plan's, not the plan you are trying [11]. And the help centre does not state its length in the text we read; the trial end date shows in your Billing settings, and Canva sends an email reminder before it ends [11]. If you start a trial without a card, it ends on its own and you are not charged [11].

Prepaid plans and Pro Lite

Canva also sells prepaid plans of 1 day, 1 week, 1 month and 1 year, which do not renew and cannot carry AI Pass [5]. And there is a plan called Pro Lite, named in the help centre's AI allowance page, on which Standard AI tools draw from the monthly allowance as they do on Free [4]. Its price is not on the US pricing page.

What Enterprise adds, and what it keeps private

Enterprise has no published price and no free trial; the pricing page offers a demo instead [2]. What it adds is control: SSO and SCIM, locked brand assets with approvers, audit logs and IP indemnity, priority support with a success manager for contracts of 150 seats or more, and data residency in the US or the EU [71]. Universities buy the Campus version through Canva, through AWS Marketplace or through resellers such as CDW, and once the staff-licence threshold is met, students get premium access at no extra cost [2].

Free for schools and nonprofits

Canva Education is free for eligible K-12 teachers, students and districts, and Canva commits to keeping it free [26]. Nonprofits get one team of up to 50 users with Pro features at no cost, and extra seats at half price on Enterprise [23]. At Business list prices, 50 seats would be US$12,500 a year. Universities are different: Canva Campus is priced on Enterprise terms, with a minimum number of staff licences that depends on enrolment [2].

The history behind the Pricing Promise

In 2024 Canva retired the old Teams price, which had covered up to five people for US$119.99 a year, and moved teams to US$10 a month per person with a minimum of three [81]. Five-person teams were quoted US$500 a year. The same five people on Business today would pay US$1,250 a year at list price. Existing Teams customers kept their old price after the backlash, but Teams is closed to new sign-ups, and the help centre warns that "Cancelling Canva Teams is permanent." [13]

Pausing instead of cancelling

A paid plan can be paused for three months rather than cancelled. Payments stop, premium features pause, and the plan resumes on its own after three months with email reminders beforehand [14]. Two conditions apply. On a yearly plan you can pause only in the last two months before renewal. And pausing is not available on subscriptions bought through the iOS App Store [14]. Affinity stays free throughout.

If you are still on Teams

Teams is closed to new customers but still runs for those who have it. Existing subscribers keep their current price, "including when you add new members", and keep getting the features added to Pro, though not those made for Business [18]. The exit is one-way. "If you cancel your Canva Teams subscription, you won’t be able to resubscribe." [18] If you upgraded to Business by mistake, the help centre says to contact support to get back [18]. Do it quickly. A legacy Teams price is the cheapest per-person team price Canva has published.

What the notice promise covers

Canva's Pricing Promise says it will give "at least 60 days" of notice of any price change [9]. The Terms of Use promise less: an increase "will not apply until your next renewal or thirty (30) days after notice, whichever is later" [10]. If you are on a yearly plan the difference rarely matters, because the renewal date comes later than either. On a monthly plan, the contract is the 30-day version.

Regional prices

The prices in this guide are the US figures. Canva's Pricing Promise includes "Fair Regional Pricing", meaning prices that reflect local economic conditions [9], and the company has introduced cheaper subscriptions in countries including Pakistan, Uruguay, Morocco and Jamaica [80]. If you buy for a team in more than one country, compare the checkout price in each billing country before deciding where the subscription sits.

Frequently asked questions

Is Canva Pro cheaper yearly?+

Yes. On the US page served on 9 October 2026, Pro was US$144 a year against US$18 a month, or US$216 over twelve months.

How much is Canva Business for a team of five?+

US$1,250 a year at list price, or US$1,500 if paid monthly, with no published volume discount.

Does Canva charge tax?+

Prices exclude tax; in the US Canva adds sales tax where required based on your billing address.

## Our read

For a single user, Pro at US$144 a year is good value, and Free is better than most competitors' paid entry plans. The pricing becomes a planning exercise at the second user, because Business doubles the yearly cost per person against Pro and keeps rising in a straight line. Budget the AI separately if your work leans on it, and treat a refund as unlikely: Canva's help centre says refunds "usually aren’t possible" [12].
