Pick the alternative by your reason for leaving
Mangools is cheap and simple, but its limits push some users to look elsewhere. Rankings update weekly below the US$129 Agency plan, there is no site audit, the backlinks come from Majestic rather than Mangools' own crawler, and the AI allowances are small [1]. Each of those gaps has a different fix. For daily tracking at Mangools' Agency price, look at SE Ranking. For the deepest backlink data, Ahrefs. For the widest toolset, Semrush. For audits on a budget, Moz Pro or SE Ranking. And for one of the lowest prices, stay where you are on Mangools Basic.
We read each rival's pricing page from the US as of 12 October 2026 and compared entry prices, tracking frequency, trials and what each adds over Mangools. Ubersuggest served its prices in euros, so we compare its limits only. Prices change, so check them before you buy. The table below puts the main plans side by side, and the sections after it take each rival in turn, starting with the one most switchers end up choosing.
| Mangools | Semrush | Ahrefs | SE Ranking | Moz Pro | |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Main plan price, monthly | US$49 | US$139 | US$129 (Lite) | US$129 | US$99 |
| Rank tracking on that plan | 200 keywords, weekly | 500 keywords, daily | 750 keywords, weekly | 2,000 keywords, daily | 300 keywords |
| Free option | Free plan | Free plan | Ahrefs Free | 14-day trial | Free trial |
| Site audit | no | yes | yes | yes | yes |
Agency adds daily tracking, 1,500 keywords and 5 seats for US$129 a month, and upgrades are prorated. It may fix the problem and keeps your history.
What you give up by leaving Mangools
Before you shop, be honest about what Mangools already does well. Every plan includes all five tools, the free plan needs no card, and users consistently praise the interface. One login covers everything, and you can send KWFinder lists straight into SERPWatcher. Our own sample of the 100 most recent Trustpilot reviews had 94 five-star ratings. Leaving costs you that ease. So make sure the reason is real, and that it is one of the gaps described below rather than a vague sense that a bigger suite must be better.
The review platforms tell the same story as our sample: users rate Mangools highly on Trustpilot, G2 and Capterra, and the praise centers on how easy the tools are to use. Those are hard things to replace. A rival with more data but a steeper interface can leave a solo blogger worse off, even if it wins on paper, so weigh the comfort you already have against the gap you want to close.
One more thing to read with care. Mangools publishes its own comparison pages for Ahrefs, Semrush, SE Ranking and Serpstat. They are marketing. One still lists site audits among Mangools' tools, which is out of date, and one prices Mangools from US$37.70 a month, so read the fine print. Treat them as claims and check the numbers yourself on each vendor's own pricing page, which is what we did for every rival below.
SE Ranking: daily tracking and an audit for the Agency price
Core against Mangools Agency
SE Ranking is the switch most people looking for daily rankings should price first. Core costs US$129 a month, or US$103.20 billed annually, and tracks 2,000 keywords daily [2]. Mangools Agency costs the same monthly price for 1,500 daily keywords. Core also includes a website audit, rank tracking and local tools, so for an agency it replaces Mangools Agency plus a separate crawler. That bundle is the main reason to switch. SE Ranking offers a 14-day trial with no card, which makes it easy to run both tools in parallel before you commit.
Growth, seats and AI prompts
Growth costs US$279 a month, or US$223.20 billed annually, with 30 projects, 3 manager seats and 5,000 keywords tracked daily. That is more than three times Mangools Agency's tracking for about twice the price. Agencies with many clients should price it, though seats are extra. Those extra seats start at US$16, the cheapest we found. Core also includes 100 prompts tracked daily for AI search, which is a different trade from Mangools' add-on: fewer prompts, but checked every day.
What the switch costs
Moving from annual Mangools Premium at US$538.80 to annual SE Ranking Core at US$1,238.40 adds US$699.60 a year. For that money you get daily tracking of 2,000 keywords and a site audit, two things Mangools Premium does not offer at any price. For an agency that reports rankings to clients every week, the extra cost is easy to justify against a separate crawler and the Agency upgrade it replaces. It is worth it for agencies. Not for one blog.
Semrush: the widest toolset, and the biggest bill
The SEO plan
Semrush's SEO plan costs US$139 a month, or US$117.33 billed annually, and tracks 500 keywords daily across 5 websites [3]. That is fewer keywords than Mangools Premium's 700, but they update daily. Semrush adds site audits and competitor tools, and it sells separate toolkits for AI visibility, local, content, social and more. The breadth is real. So is the bill. Moving from annual Mangools Premium to annual Semrush SEO adds US$869.16 a year, and extra users cost from US$45 a month each on SEO plans, so the gap widens with every person you add.
Starter, Pro+ and Advanced
Starter costs US$199 a month, or US$165.17 billed annually, with 5 websites, 500 keywords tracked daily, MCP access and AI visibility features. Mangools Basic plus AI Search Watcher Pro costs US$98 a month, about half, with fewer tools. Further up, Pro+ costs US$299 a month and tracks 1,500 keywords daily across 15 websites and 100 AI prompts daily. Advanced costs US$549 and tracks 5,000 keywords across 40 websites and 200 prompts, with API data integration.
Mangools Agency tracks the same 1,500 daily keywords as Pro+ for US$129, less than half the price. Billed annually, Pro+ costs US$2,978.04 a year against US$1,078.80 for Mangools Agency, so the Semrush plan costs about US$1,899 more for the same tracking plus audits and content tools. More tools mean more cost, and a suite you open twice a month is an expensive way to get daily rankings. Only switch if you will use those tools.
The free plan as a companion
Semrush's free plan includes a site audit of 100 pages, 10 keyword and competitor research queries a day, 10 backlink queries and 10 tracked keywords. That is not enough to replace Mangools, but it does cover the one gap Mangools cannot fill. A small site can audit itself there for free and keep Mangools for research and weekly tracking, which is a cheap combination and worth trying before any paid switch.
Ahrefs: when backlink depth is the reason
Why link builders look elsewhere
LinkMiner draws on Majestic's index of 9.5 trillion backlinks; Mangools does not crawl the web itself. Its totals and lists can differ because they use different Majestic indexes, and LinkMiner flags links found in the past 90 days as new. Mangools Basic shows 100,000 backlink rows a month and Agency 1.2 million. For monitoring a few sites, that is enough. For link research at scale, a dedicated index helps, and Ahrefs, which runs its own backlink index, is the usual answer.
Plans, users and the weekly catch
Ahrefs sells Lite at US$129 a month, Standard at US$249 and Advanced at US$449 [4]. Lite includes 5 projects, 6 months of history, 750 tracked keywords, 5 tracked AI prompts, API and MCP access and 1,000 credits per user, with up to 2 more users at US$40 a month each. Mangools Basic has no extra users at all. Standard adds 20 projects, 2 years of history, 2,000 tracked keywords and 10 AI prompts. The catch is frequency. Tracking stays weekly on every Ahrefs plan, so for daily rankings Ahrefs is not the switch. Its strength is data depth.
Ahrefs Starter costs US$29 a month, billed monthly only. It is cheaper than Mangools Basic, but it is a research plan rather than a full toolkit. Ahrefs never runs discounts and points to its free plan instead of a trial. On cost, Lite at US$1,290 a year billed annually costs US$751.20 more than annual Mangools Premium. It tracks fewer keywords, weekly, but brings Ahrefs' own backlink data. The switch pays only for link work.
Moz Pro: audits on a small budget
Mangools has no technical audit, and none of the tools on its menu audits a site. If you need crawl reports, you need another tool. Moz Pro is the budget way in. Its entry price is US$99 a month, or US$79 a month billed yearly, with 300 tracked keywords, 3 tracked sites and 400,000 pages crawled a month, and Moz offers a free trial. It suits small sites that need audits, though the tracking allowance is smaller than Mangools Premium's. If you also want daily rankings, SE Ranking's Core plan covers both in one subscription.
One still lists site audits among Mangools' tools and one prices Mangools from US$37.70 a month. Check the numbers on each vendor's own pricing page.
Cheaper or narrower: Ubersuggest and SpyFu
Mangools Basic billed annually costs US$29.90 a month, and few full toolkits are cheaper. Ahrefs Starter at US$29 is close but billed monthly only. Ubersuggest is the other budget option. Its Individual plan covers one project and 125 tracked keywords, its yearly plans currently advertise "5 months free", and it also sells lifetime access. The Business plan offers 150 tracked keywords per project, 5,000 page scans per project and biweekly AI prompt checks. Those page scans are something Mangools lacks entirely: a light audit for a light price. Its data is lighter, though, and it suits one small site. Compare limits, not just price.
SpyFu is built around competitor research. It says its ranking data is updated live, with monthly roll-ups, and it advertises a 30-day money-back guarantee. Mangools refunds only within 48 hours of payment. If you buy annual plans cautiously, the longer window lowers the risk. It is a small reason. For some buyers, it decides. Mangools' search by domain covers 17 countries, so for US competitor research SpyFu is worth a look.
The smaller reasons: AI prompts, local, teams and the API
AI search tracking
Mangools includes one AI monitor and five prompts. More needs AI Search Watcher Pro at US$49 a month, which brings 500 prompts across eight engines, so Basic plus Pro costs US$98 a month. Ahrefs Lite includes 5 tracked AI prompts and Standard 10, while Semrush Pro+ tracks 100 daily and Advanced 200. For heavy AI tracking, Mangools' add-on is the cheapest route by prompt count. SE Ranking's 100 daily prompts on Core are the choice if daily checks matter more than volume.
Local SEO and growing teams
Mangools offers local keyword research and local SERPs for 65,000 locations, and SERPWatcher tracks at city level. It does not manage listings or reviews. SE Ranking includes local marketing tools, and Semrush sells a separate local toolkit, so local agencies that manage listings need one of those. Teams hit a different wall. Basic has no sub-users and one session, Premium has 3 seats and Agency 5, all sharing one set of limits, and Mangools sells no seat add-on in its current plan data. A team of eight will outgrow Agency.
The API and the keyword database
The Mangools API page offers free token access, but the FAQ mentions separate API plans, and no API pricing is published. Developers building products need published terms, so ask Mangools in writing or choose a vendor that prices its API. Mangools also says it has more than 2.5 billion keywords, yet search by domain covers 17 countries. Users in smaller markets may find gaps. Test your market on the free plan first.
Before you switch: upgrade or combine
Often the fix sits inside Mangools. Agency adds daily tracking, 1,500 keywords, 5 seats and 10 sessions for US$129 a month, and upgrades are prorated. That is often enough, and it keeps your history. If daily data matters but US$129 is too much, Semrush's free plan with 10 tracked keywords or Mangools' Free+ with 50 daily keywords for ten days can bridge a gap. Neither lasts as a solution. A paid daily plan does.
Combining tools is the other route. Many users pair Mangools with a crawler for audits or with Search Console for daily clicks, and Mangools imports Search Console keywords into SERPWatcher. Annual Basic at US$358.80 plus a separate audit tool can still cost less than one full suite. For one blogger or affiliate site, Basic or Premium covers long-tail research, SERP checks and weekly tracking for less than most full rivals, and weekly data is enough for most content sites. Staying is often right.
How to switch without losing your history
Export keyword lists and tracking data from Mangools before you cancel, because the history you built there is the one thing a new tool cannot recreate. SERPWatcher data is also reachable through the Looker Studio connector and the API, and rivals import keywords from CSV, so moving the lists themselves is the easy part. Keep the history. You cannot get it back later.
Then run both tools for a while. Keep Mangools active until the new tool has collected a few weeks of history, since SERPWatcher data stays available while the plan runs. When you are ready, disable auto-renewal before the period ends; the plan stays active until then, and annual subscribers keep access to the end of the period. Refunds apply only within 48 hours of a payment, so a late cancellation costs a full period. Overlap costs little. Lost history costs more.
Export keyword lists and SERPWatcher data before you leave. Rivals import keywords from CSV, but the history cannot be recovered later.
We compared Ubersuggest's limits only, because its pricing page served euro prices from the US.

The bottom line
Leave Mangools only for a concrete gap: daily tracking, audits, deeper backlinks or a larger team. Most switchers want daily tracking, and SE Ranking fits them best, matching the Agency price with more keywords and an audit. Ahrefs is for link work, Semrush for teams that will use the whole suite, and Moz Pro for audits on a budget. For everyone else, Mangools remains one of the cheapest complete toolkits. Test the rival on its free plan or trial, and keep Mangools until the new tool proves itself. Our Mangools pricing guide shows what an upgrade inside Mangools would cost.
