The short answer: size, price and what you need daily
Mangools and Semrush both sell SEO toolkits, but at very different sizes and prices. Mangools starts at US$49 a month and Semrush's SEO plan at US$139 [1] [2]. Mangools is cheaper, simpler and includes every tool in every plan. Semrush is broader, tracks daily on its entry plan and includes a site audit. For a blogger, Mangools. For an agency or in-house team, usually Semrush. We set their plans, limits and terms side by side from each vendor's own pages as of 12 October 2026, and the table below is the one-glance version.
| Mangools | Semrush | |
|---|---|---|
| Entry plan, monthly | US$49 | US$139 |
| Entry plan, billed annually | US$29.90 a month | US$117.33 a month |
| Tracked keywords on entry plan | 200, weekly | 500, daily |
| Site audit | no | yes |

What you pay: plans and the annual discount
| Mangools | Semrush | |
|---|---|---|
| Entry tier | Basic, US$49 | SEO, US$139 |
| Second tier | Premium, US$69 | Starter, US$199 |
| Third tier | Agency, US$129 | Pro+, US$299 |
| Top self-serve tier | Agency, US$129 | Advanced, US$549 |
| Keywords tracked daily on the top tier | 1,500 | 5,000 |
The headline gap
Mangools sells Basic at US$49, Premium at US$69 and Agency at US$129 a month. Semrush sells SEO at US$139, Starter at US$199, Pro+ at US$299 and Advanced at US$549. Mangools' top plan costs less than Semrush's entry plan. That sums it up. Billed annually, Mangools costs US$358.80, US$538.80 or US$1,078.80 a year, while Semrush's SEO plan costs US$117.33 a month, or US$1,407.96 a year. Annual Mangools Agency therefore costs less than annual Semrush SEO, by US$329.16.
Two years, and what commitment saves
Over two years the gap compounds. Two years of annual Mangools Basic cost US$717.60, and two years of annual Semrush SEO cost US$2,815.92. The difference, US$2,098.32, would pay for nearly four years of annual Mangools Premium, which is why the gap decides most small-site budgets. Mangools also rewards commitment more. By our arithmetic, annual billing saves 39% on Basic, 35% on Premium and 30% on Agency, while Semrush's SEO plan saves about 16%, from US$139 to US$117.33. Both bill upfront for annual plans.
Semrush's upper tiers
Semrush keeps going where Mangools stops. Pro+ tracks 1,500 keywords daily across 15 websites, with 100 AI prompts tracked daily. Advanced tracks 5,000 keywords across 40 websites and 200 prompts, with API data integration. Mangools has nothing at that scale, because its top plan stops at 1,500 keywords. For a large in-house team, that ceiling is the real comparison, not the entry price. Our Mangools pricing guide breaks down each Mangools plan in more detail.
The real cost for a team
Seats and the team of four
Mangools Premium includes 3 sub-users and Agency 5, all sharing the plan's limits. Semrush sells additional users from US$45 a month on SEO plans [3]. So a team of four on Mangools Premium, billed annually, costs US$538.80 a year. On Semrush SEO billed annually it is US$1,407.96 for one user, and three more users at US$45 a month add US$1,620 a year, for US$3,027.96. That is five and a half times more. For a team of six, Mangools Agency at US$1,078.80 covers the owner and 5 sub-users, while Semrush SEO with five extra users would cost US$4,107.96 a year.
Sessions and shared logins
The catch on Mangools is sessions, not seats. It allows 1, 3 or 10 simultaneous sessions by plan, and on Basic a second login ends the first. Anyone who works on a laptop and a phone should start on Premium. Sub-users with their own logins also start there, while Semrush charges per added user. Both discourage shared passwords, but Mangools Premium makes it cheap to avoid them. As long as the shared limits suffice, a small team pays far less on Mangools.
No Mangools plan audits a site, so technical SEO needs a second tool. Even Semrush's free plan audits 100 pages.
Free plans, and how to test both
Both vendors have a real free plan, and neither supports ongoing work. Mangools' Free plan has no time limit and needs no card, but it has no published limit table; its KWFinder guide allows 15 keywords per import, five times a day. Semrush's free plan includes 10 keyword research and 10 competitor research queries a day, a site audit of 100 pages, 10 tracked keywords and 10 backlink queries a day. Semrush's free plan is better documented, and it includes an audit.
New Mangools accounts also get Free+ for ten days, with 50 keywords tracked daily. That is the best way to compare daily data from both tools at once. Start Mangools Free+ and Semrush's free plan on the same day, track the same 10 keywords and research the same five topics. After ten days, compare. Then pay for one. Not both.
Keyword and competitor research
KWFinder against Semrush's research tools
KWFinder shows search volumes, history, Keyword Difficulty and competitor keywords across 65,000 locations. Semrush's SEO plan includes keyword research and competitor analysis. KWFinder is easier for long-tail work, and Semrush goes deeper. Mangools' Keyword Difficulty is its own score of how hard it is to reach page one, calculated from SERPChecker data on the live SERP, and scoring a keyword costs a SERP lookup. Semrush offers its own difficulty metric within keyword research. Compare a few keywords you already know well, and trust whichever score matches your experience.
Lookups, competitors and freshness
Mangools allows 100, 500 or 1,200 keyword lookups a day by plan, while Semrush sets its paid limits per plan. Count your daily research, because Mangools Basic runs out first. Competitor work is thin on Basic too: KWFinder's search by domain shows the keywords a site ranks for in 17 countries, with 25 rows on Basic and 2,000 on Premium and Agency. Premium is the minimum. Mangools also shows search volumes with about a one-month lag. For fast-moving niches, Semrush's data feels fresher. For evergreen content, the lag rarely matters.
Rank tracking: daily data or more keywords
Frequency against volume
Mangools tracks weekly on Basic and Premium and daily only on Agency. Semrush tracks 500 keywords daily on its SEO plan, so for daily data Semrush's entry plan beats Mangools' first two plans. Agency closes the gap. Volume tells the opposite story. Mangools tracks 200, 700 or 1,500 keywords by plan, so Premium tracks more keywords than Semrush SEO for half the price, but weekly. Frequency or volume: choose. On a per-keyword basis, Mangools Agency billed annually tracks 1,500 keywords daily for US$1,078.80 a year, about 72 cents per keyword, against about US$2.82 on Semrush SEO. Mangools is almost four times cheaper per daily keyword, on its top plan.
How devices, sites and locations count
In Mangools, desktop and mobile trackings count separately: "Each tracking is separate." Track mobile only where you can, and you double your effective capacity. Semrush's SEO plan monitors 5 websites, Pro+ 15 and Advanced 40, while SERPWatcher lets Mangools users split keywords across an unlimited number of domains within the plan total. For freelancers with many small sites, Mangools is more flexible. Mangools also supports more than 65,000 locations for research, SERP analysis and tracking, even on Basic, whereas Semrush reserves multi-location and device tracking for Pro+ at US$299 a month.
What SERPWatcher reports
SERPWatcher shows desktop and mobile rankings, estimated visits, top gainers and losers, position flow, map pack and featured snippets. Its Performance Index rolls rankings and volumes into one number on every plan, while Semrush offers a share of voice metric on Advanced. The allowance still matters, though. Because Basic tracks only 200 keywords weekly, a site with 1,000 target keywords would need Agency's 1,500 to see its whole Performance Index, which moves the bill from US$358.80 to US$1,078.80 a year.
Site audit, backlinks and the rest of the toolbox
The audit is the biggest difference
Semrush's SEO plan includes Site Audit, and Mangools has no audit tool [4]. For technical SEO, this is the single biggest difference. Mangools users need a second tool for crawl reports, on every plan from Basic to Agency; Semrush users do not. Even the free Semrush plan audits 100 pages, which is more technical checking than any Mangools plan offers at any price. A site with known crawl problems should weigh that before saving money, since this is the one gap that no Mangools upgrade closes.
Backlinks, SERPs and domain metrics
LinkMiner uses Majestic's fresh and historic index of 9.5 trillion backlinks, with Link Strength and live previews, while Semrush lists backlink analysis among its tools. LinkMiner is easier to scan, and Semrush has more depth. SERPChecker shows localized SERPs for 65,000 locations with 45+ metrics and expected CTR, and Mangools stores downloadable SERP snapshots. SiteProfiler gives domain authority from Moz and Majestic, top content and competitors; Semrush offers domain overview and competitor insights, and adds traffic analytics in other toolkits. Both cover the basics.
Free extras, toolkits and local SEO
Mangools adds free tools that Semrush users would buy elsewhere: a Reddit Threads Finder showing threads in the top five results, an SEO Content Optimizer using Search Console data, and a free SERP volatility index based on 1,579,858 keywords tracked in SERPWatcher, which read 29.45 on desktop on 11 October 2026. Every Mangools plan includes all its tools, while Semrush sells separate toolkits, such as local, content, social and AI visibility, on top of the SEO plan. Mangools' bill is predictable. Semrush's grows with your needs. Local SEO shows the split: Mangools is enough for local research, but listings need Semrush's local toolkit, priced per location.
AI visibility, MCP and the API
Mangools includes one AI Search Watcher monitor with five prompts and sells Pro at US$49 a month for 500 prompts across eight engines. Semrush adds AI visibility features on Starter at US$199, and Pro+ tracks 100 prompts daily for US$299 a month, Advanced 200 for US$549. Mangools is far cheaper per prompt, while Semrush checks daily and ties prompts to SEO data. In annual terms, watching 100 prompts daily on Semrush means Pro+ at US$2,978.04 a year. Mangools' 500 prompts cost US$418.80 a year on top of annual Basic's US$358.80, or US$777.60 in total.
On the developer side, the two are closer than the prices suggest. Mangools offers an MCP server and a REST API with free token access, but its API terms are not published, so there is no written limit to plan around. Semrush includes MCP access on Starter, and API data integration arrives only on Advanced at US$549 a month. Ask both vendors about limits before you build anything on either.
Reporting and white label
SERPWatcher shares interactive reports, sends scheduled email reports and alerts, and connects to Looker Studio, all included in the plan. Semrush sells branded report packages per report. Mangools' reporting is included, and it is also simpler. Mangools advertises white-label SEO reports in SERPWatcher, and its comparison page says Semrush offers white label only on higher plans. That is Mangools' claim, not Semrush's, and white-label wording changes often. Check each vendor's current terms before you promise branded reports to a client.
Ease of use, support and trust
What users and the vendor say
Ease of use is Mangools' strongest card. Its comparison page calls Semrush's dashboard "often overwhelming", but that is a vendor claim. The independent signal is that reviewers on G2 and Capterra rate Mangools' interface highly. Mangools' ratings are high across the platforms, but they come from far fewer reviews than a large suite collects. High but small samples deserve a closer look, so read the recent reviews.
Support is the other selling point, and it is where a small vendor can beat a large one. Mangools' home page says its support team has real SEO expertise, and both live chat and email are offered. In our own Trustpilot sample, 42 of the 100 reviews mention support, mostly favorably, which fits the picture of a small team that answers. Against a vendor the size of Semrush, that is Mangools' selling point.
Reliability, company and out-of-date pages
Mangools disclosed a May 2018 outage in which about 15% of SERPWatcher positions were not processed correctly for five days, and we found no similar disclosure since. Semrush's scale gives it more redundancy, but ask both about uptime. Mangools is CodeCat s.r.o. of Bratislava, under Slovak law, and its Terms were last updated in June 2023. Its own pages also contain twelve statements that trail the current plans, such as a 44% annual saving, a free trial and an Entry plan. Its Semrush comparison prices Mangools from US$37.70 a month and describes a limited free trial instead of Semrush's free plan. The plan data says US$29.90. Trust the plan data, and treat the comparison page as marketing.
Refunds and canceling
Mangools refunds in full within 48 hours of payment, except for two consecutive subscriptions, and cancels by disabling auto-renewal in the dashboard. Semrush describes its subscription rules on its knowledge base. Both let the plan run to the end of the paid period and bill upfront for annual plans, so read Semrush's refund terms before buying an annual plan and decide during the free period.
Who should choose which
Bloggers, affiliate sites and small businesses that research long-tail keywords and can live with weekly tracking should choose Mangools. Annual Premium at US$538.80 covers most of them, for less than four months of Semrush SEO at its monthly price. Agencies and teams that need daily tracking, site audits, local or content toolkits and deep competitor data should choose Semrush. The bill is higher. So is the ceiling. Budget for add-ons from the start.
Some teams use both: they research in KWFinder, where long-tail work is easier, and run audits and daily tracking in Semrush, where those are part of the plan. Mangools Basic billed annually adds US$358.80 a year to a Semrush plan, which for one extra writer can be cheaper than a Semrush seat at US$45 a month. If neither fits, our Mangools alternatives guide covers SE Ranking, Ahrefs and Moz Pro.
Mangools counts desktop and mobile trackings separately, so tracking one device doubles your effective capacity.
Basic allows one session, and a second login ends the first. Anyone working on a laptop and a phone should start on Premium.
