The short answer: yes, within small limits
Mangools is partly free, and the free part is real. There is a Free plan with no credit card and no time limit, a 10-day Free+ plan for new accounts, and a set of mini tools that need no sign-up at all. The FAQ puts it plainly: "Our Free plan is completely free" [1]. The limits are small, though. The free layers suit occasional checks, title previews and local lookups, not ongoing SEO projects. For daily research and real rank tracking, the realistic minimum is Basic at US$49 a month, or US$29.90 a month billed annually [2]. This guide reflects the vendor's pages as of October 12, 2026.
Three layers of free, and what each one gives you
Mangools offers free access at three levels, and it helps to keep them apart. The mini tools need no account. The Free plan needs a free account and opens the main tools with small limits. Free+ adds ten days of daily tracking on top. Each suits a different need. A content writer who only previews titles and checks local results can stay on the mini tools forever. Someone tracking a site's rankings will need at least Free+ and, after ten days, a paid plan.
The Free plan that never expires
The Free plan gives access to the Mangools tools with low daily limits and no time restriction [3]. It returned on June 20, 2023, after years without one. Mangools does not publish a full table of Free limits. The KWFinder guide allows Free users to import 15 keywords five times a day, 75 keywords in total, and the other limits appear inside the app, so check them in your dashboard. There is no pressure to convert. Mangools says the decision to subscribe is entirely up to you. That is unusual.
Ten days of Free+, the real trial
New accounts get Free+, a 10-day plan with more room and 50 tracked keywords updated daily, without card verification [3]. After ten days the account switches to Free. Treat it as your trial, because it is the best part of the offer. Free+ replaced the old 10-day trial in June 2023 with five times more tracked keywords, and expired trial accounts were moved to the new Free plan. Old accounts still work, so log in and check. One guide lags behind: the SERPWatcher guide still says 10 keywords can be tracked in the 10-day free trial. Expect 50.
Load your main site's keywords during the ten days of Free+, including a Search Console import, before you decide whether to pay.
How the free limits are counted
Free allowances run out faster than most people expect, so the counting rules matter. Each keyword or domain search counts as one keyword lookup. Each SERP loaded counts as one SERP lookup, except recent cached ones. Clicking a suggestion to score its difficulty also uses a SERP lookup, which catches people out on a small allowance. Click with purpose. Limits refresh every 24 hours, counted from your first request rather than from midnight. On a free allowance, that means it pays to spread work across days and to start at the same time each day, so a fresh allowance is waiting when you sit down. It avoids surprises.
The free mini tools, one by one
The home page lists free tools that need no sign-up: a Google location changer, a SERP simulator, a Reddit Threads Finder, an SEO Content Optimizer, share of search, a SERP volatility checker and AI Search Grader [4]. These are genuinely free, and several are useful every day. They are also the easiest way to see how Mangools thinks about search before you create any account, because nothing here asks for an email address or a card.
SERP Simulator
The SERP Simulator previews a title tag, URL and meta description as they would appear in Google and flags lengths that would be trimmed. You can type a keyword, see the real results and drag your simulated snippet to any position among the competitors, which shows whether your title stands out. It is free with a search limit, and a free account lifts that limit. The page sums up the account offer as "Forever FREE. No credit card needed." Our SERP Simulator guide covers it in depth.
Location changer and Reddit Threads Finder
The location changer shows local search results for any keyword in more than 65,000 locations worldwide. Local businesses can see what their own city's results look like without a VPN, which makes it one of the most practical free tools in the set. Use it daily. The Reddit Threads Finder lists keywords for which Reddit threads rank in the top five results. For each one it reports search volume, the number of comments on the thread, the thread's ranking position and its monthly organic visits. That points to discussions worth joining for community marketing, and to topics worth writing about when a thread ranks where a good article could.
AI Search Grader
AI Search Grader evaluates a brand's visibility in ChatGPT, DeepSeek V3, Claude, Gemini, Mistral and Llama 3.3. It measures visibility, meaning how often a brand appears in AI answers, and ranking, its average position in the top 20, then combines them into a 0 to 100 AI Search Score weighted by each model's market share. It is quick and free. It is a one-off benchmark, not tracking, so repeat it monthly if you want a trend.
SERP volatility checker
The volatility index shows day-by-day changes in Google positions, based on 1,579,858 keywords tracked in SERPWatcher. On October 11, 2026 it read 29.45 on desktop. The page also shows desktop versus mobile volatility, the share of keywords with unchanged positions and changes in top positions, and you can sign up for email alerts when changes are big. It is free to view and most helpful during core updates.
SEO Content Optimizer and the browser extension
The SEO Content Optimizer gives tips based on Google Search Console data to help pages rank better, so it needs a Search Console connection and works best for existing sites. The free extension for Chrome and Firefox shows Moz and Majestic metrics, keyword positions and backlinks for the page you are visiting, with a click through to LinkMiner for deeper backlink analysis. It is free to install. It is worth it.
Other free doors: API, AI tracking and affiliates
A few more parts of Mangools open with a free account. The API page offers access with a token from a free account, while the FAQ mentions separate API plans for KWFinder and SERPChecker. Usage limits are not published, so it is free to start, but ask before you scale. On the data side, SERPWatcher can import keywords from Google Search Console during Free+, which speeds up setup, and a Looker Studio connector brings SERPWatcher data into dashboards. Connect Search Console on day one, then compare what it reports with what SERPWatcher tracks.
The home page also invites users to track their AI visibility for free with AI Search Watcher. The SEO plans include one AI monitor with five prompts, and the separate AI Search Watcher Pro plan offers 500 prompts for US$49 a month. A free monitor is a sample, not a tracking setup, and the free AI Search Grader covers the one-off check. Our AI Search Watcher guide explains the paid side.
The affiliate program is free to join too, with no approval process: a free account gives access to the affiliate section. That means free users can earn commissions by referring paying users. Commissions run from 25% to 35% of recurring payments, with a 30-day cookie, paid via PayPal from US$150. A blogger with an audience can cover a future subscription that way, without ever paying to get in. Free to join. Paid only if you promote.
Mangools refunds in full only within 48 hours of payment, so the first-hour 10% discount leaves little time to change your mind.
When free is enough, and when you need to pay
Checking a few keywords a week, previewing titles, looking up local SERPs and watching volatility: the free tools and the Free plan cover those. Many hobby bloggers never need more. A blogger who never needs daily tracking can run keyword checks, title previews and local searches for years without a subscription. That is fine.
The picture changes when you track more than a handful of keywords, research every day, or analyze competitor keywords and backlinks at scale. Basic adds 100 keyword and SERP lookups a day, 200 tracked keywords and 100,000 backlink rows a month [2]. Premium raises those to 500, 700 and 500,000, and competitor keyword research needs Premium's 2,000 rows. That is a large jump from free, and most users notice it within a day. Pick the plan by the task, not by the price. Our Mangools pricing guide breaks down every tier.
If you pay, pay smart
The first-hour discount and the refund window
New users get 10% off if they subscribe within an hour of registering. On annual Basic, that is about US$35.88. It is tempting, but Free+ lasts ten days, so test first. If you do pay early, Mangools refunds in full within 48 hours of payment, except for two consecutive subscriptions. That gives you two days to change your mind. Every hour counts.
Annual billing and seasonal offers
Annual billing saves 39% on Basic, 35% on Premium and 30% on Agency compared with twelve monthly payments, by our arithmetic from the plan data. The discounts page still quotes 44%, which is out of date. Pay annually only after testing, since the refund window is short. The FAQ also mentions Black Friday, Cyber Monday and other seasonal discounts, and one holiday promotion advertised 35% off the tools and up to 50% off the LLM rank tracker. Free users can wait for those if the Free plan covers them until then.
Coupons for courses, and the Entry plan question
Mangools offers special coupons for SEO training courses, and teachers can ask for codes for their students. That is the closest thing to an education plan, so ask before term starts. In July 2023 Mangools launched an Entry plan at US$19.90 a month billed annually, but the current plan data lists only Basic, Premium and Agency. It may be offered to new users only. Ask support.
How Mangools' free offer compares
Semrush has a free plan that tracks 10 keywords and allows 10 backlink queries a day. Mangools Free+ tracks 50 keywords daily for ten days, so for a short test Mangools gives more; for a permanent free plan, compare both. Ahrefs never runs discounts and points to its free plan for website owners instead of a trial, while Mangools Free has no time limit. Different uses. Both are free.
SE Ranking offers a 14-day trial with no card, after which a paid plan from US$129 a month is needed. That is a longer test, but Mangools is the only one of the two that lets a small site keep working without paying anything. Ubersuggest sells monthly, yearly and lifetime plans and advertises five free months on yearly plans, which is a discount, not a free plan. Different meanings of free.
A free-first plan
Use Free+ for ten days on your main site, keep the free tools for daily checks, and move to Basic only when the Free plan blocks real work. Most small sites can wait weeks. Some never upgrade. The business logic on Mangools' side is clear: its affiliate page says more than 67% of users who subscribed did so within 24 hours of registering, so free plans feed paid ones. Users still get real value along the way, and nothing forces the switch.
Free limits refresh every 24 hours from your first request, so a fixed daily start keeps a fresh allowance waiting.

The bottom line
Mangools' free offer is one of the most generous among SEO suites: no card, no expiry, and free mini tools that stay useful long after the trial. It is not free for real SEO work, and Basic is the realistic minimum once you track rankings or research daily. Use Free+ as the trial, keep the free tools, and pay for Basic or Premium only when daily limits stop you.
