What SocialBee does for LinkedIn, in short

SocialBee publishes directly to both kinds of LinkedIn account: personal profiles and company pages. From one post editor you can schedule text posts, image and multi-image posts, a single video, link posts with a custom preview cover, and document carousels built from PDF or Office files [1]. On top of plain scheduling it adds the things that set it apart: content categories that feed a weekly schedule, evergreen recycling with rotating variations, first comments, AI captions, and an approval step for teams. The weak spots are the inbox (company pages only) and the analytics on personal profiles, where SocialBee says LinkedIn's official API does not supply some metrics. For a founder posting thought leadership or a B2B team running a company page, it covers the weekly routine well.

The rest of this guide walks through setup in the order you will meet it: connecting accounts, choosing a post format, writing and tagging, scheduling and recycling, AI help, approvals, the inbox and analytics. It ends with a weekly workflow that a small B2B marketing team can copy as it stands. Everything here comes from SocialBee's help center, changelog and product pages, which we read and compared in October 2026; where those pages disagree, we say so and follow the newer one.

Step one: connecting profiles and company pages

Connecting is quick, but company pages have one rule worth knowing before you start. You must be a Super Admin of the LinkedIn Page to connect it, and an older FAQ on the same help center simply says you need to connect with a LinkedIn user who is an administrator of the company. Treat Super Admin as the safe reading. A personal profile connects with your own login. If an agency or a colleague is doing the setup, have the page owner grant the right role first, or plan a short call where the owner signs in.

The setup, step by step

Reconnects after LinkedIn API changes

LinkedIn has changed its API more than once, and SocialBee users have felt it. The changelog asked everyone to reconnect their LinkedIn profiles and company pages until June 2024 because of those changes, a job SocialBee said takes about a minute [2]. Another entry reported that connecting and posting to LinkedIn had temporarily stopped after an API change, and a third warned that first comments on personal profiles could still fail after a reconnect because permissions were missing. The help center adds that reconnection can be needed whenever authorization expires or you lose access to the profile. Expect to reconnect now and then.

Toolkit tip
Connect as a Super Admin

Company pages connect only for a Super Admin of the LinkedIn Page. Sort out the role before setup, and accept every permission LinkedIn requests.

Choosing a post format

SocialBee supports the main LinkedIn formats directly. One caution about images: SocialBee's own pages disagree on how many fit in a multi-image post, with older help pages giving a lower cap than the newer changelog. Check what the post editor accepts rather than trusting any single number, and keep big galleries for the platforms that need them. Here are the limits the help center and changelog publish for LinkedIn.

Format What SocialBee accepts for LinkedIn
Text Up to 3,000 characters
Images Single or multi-image posts, 8 MB per image
Video One per post, 3 seconds to 30 minutes, up to 200 MB
Document carousel PDF, DOC, DOCX, PPT or PPTX, up to 100 MB and 300 pages
Link post Link preview with an optional custom cover

Document carousels

LinkedIn retired its original carousel feature, and document posts replaced it, which is why SocialBee can schedule them natively. You upload a PDF or Office file, and each page becomes a slide; SocialBee recommends slides of 1080 by 1350. Carousels work on both company pages and personal profiles, but only in the new Post Editor, so anyone still in the old editor will not see the option [3]. One quirk from the mobile app help page: carousels shared through the app must be marked as Published by hand because of webhook limits. Build them on the desktop and you avoid that step.

Video, images and the caption rule

LinkedIn will not accept a media file on its own. Every image, video or document needs a caption, or the post fails, so never leave the text box empty on a visual post. Videos can carry a custom thumbnail on LinkedIn, and images can carry alt text on both personal profiles and company pages, which helps anyone reading with a screen reader. SocialBee also does not add its Posted by SocialBee notice to LinkedIn posts, so your audience sees the post as yours, not as something sent from a tool.

Writing the post: length, mentions, hashtags and the first comment

The character limit is 3,000. An older changelog note and an older error page still list 1300 characters for LinkedIn; that figure is outdated, and the newer help page and changelog agree on 3,000. That gives you room for a proper short essay. Use the Customize each toggle to write a LinkedIn-specific version when the same post also goes to other networks. The toggle lets you change hashtags, links, formatting and mentions per platform, and the editor shows a character counter for each network.

Mentions and tagging

You can tag people and companies as you type, because SocialBee added real-time account search for tagging on LinkedIn. For company pages, the changelog describes a second route: paste the page's @handle into the post. Customize each lets the LinkedIn version carry its own mentions, so the LinkedIn post can tag a partner's company page while other networks get their own tags. Test a mention before a launch.

Hashtags

The hashtag wand in the editor suggests tags once you have written a caption or added an image; it will not work on an empty post. You can also save hashtag collections by category, profile or platform and drop them into a caption or a first comment. The pricing page lists the hashtag organizer from Accelerate up, so Bootstrap users get suggestions but not saved collections. For LinkedIn, a short saved set per pillar works better than a long list.

The first comment

First comments work on both personal profiles and company pages, set through Customize for each profile. A first comment can hold text, links or hashtags. You can use it for the link to an article and keep the main post free of an outbound link. Bear in mind the changelog's warning that personal-profile first comments could fail when LinkedIn permissions were missing. After a reconnect, schedule one test post with a first comment and confirm it appears.

⚠️
Watch out
Test first comments after reconnects

SocialBee's changelog reported that first comments on personal profiles could fail when LinkedIn permissions were missing, even after reconnecting. Schedule one test post and check it.

Scheduling: categories, best times and evergreen recycling

SocialBee schedules by category rather than by single date. You build a weekly posting schedule, give each time slot a category, and the scheduler checks that schedule to decide which category supplies the next post. For a LinkedIn plan this maps neatly onto content pillars: one category for thought-leadership posts, one for company news, one for curated articles, one for hiring. You can also post now or at a specific time for anything date-bound, like an event.

Best times

There is no fixed best time for LinkedIn in SocialBee. When you post at a specific time, the editor suggests hours based on your own analytics, taking account of the chosen account, the category and the best hour of the day. The scheduler can also generate a preset schedule from best practices, and Copilot recommends posting times as part of the strategy it builds. Start with the preset, then let your data move it. SocialBee's help center recommends at most 50 LinkedIn posts a day but does not enforce that number.

Evergreen recycling for thought leadership

Evergreen categories cycle through all their posts and return to the first after the last one is shared. That suits thought-leadership posts that stay true for months: frameworks, lessons, customer stories. Add post variations so the same idea goes out with a fresh hook each time; in an evergreen category one variation publishes per cycle. SocialBee also blocks reposting the same content within 48 hours. Anything time-bound can expire after a set number of shares or on a date, and expired posts are archived, not deleted, so you can restore them from Posting History later.

Copilot and AI writing for LinkedIn

Copilot is SocialBee's AI strategist. It scans your website, or asks questions in a chat if you have none, then recommends platforms, content categories, a posting schedule and posts. It saves 10 AI-written posts with images as drafts, which you review in the Content Approval dashboard. Nothing goes live until you approve it. For a company page starting from zero, that fills the first stretch of the calendar fast.

Day to day, the AI Post Generator sits inside the post editor. You give it a prompt and set the tone, the word count, and whether to add hashtags and emojis, and it returns up to 10 caption variations per request. Over 1,000 prompt templates are included, and there is no monthly cap on AI captions on any plan, under a fair-use rule SocialBee says may change. Images come from GPT-Image-1, though you cannot add a logo to AI images. Under the WebPros privacy policy, your AI inputs and outputs are not used to train any model. Toolkit tip
Recycle your best posts

Each Monday, add last week's strongest LinkedIn posts back from Posting History into an evergreen category with a new variation. The queue then stays full between new posts.

Approvals and roles for B2B teams

LinkedIn posts in SocialBee can be reviewed, edited or approved before they go live, and the workflow runs through draft, review and approval. Post approvals start on Accelerate; Bootstrap has no approvals. Drafts are never shared until someone approves them, while approved posts go out at their posting time. Roles decide who can do what: Owner, Manager, Publisher and Contributor. Contributors can create posts but cannot approve them, which suits a subject-matter expert drafting under a marketer's review. Internal notes on posts arrive with Pro.

The catch is the user count. Accelerate includes 1 user, so a writer plus a reviewer needs an extra user, which SocialBee sells for $10 a month or $100 a year. By our arithmetic, that plan plus one extra user comes to $49 + $10 = $59 a month billed monthly. Pro, at $99 a month or $990 a year, includes 3 users per workspace, 25 profiles, internal notes and PDF report export. The 30-day money-back guarantee covers the first purchase only; there are no prorated refunds for cancelling mid-term or after a renewal, and refunds are at SocialBee's discretion. See our SocialBee pricing guide for every plan [4].

The inbox: what Engage covers on LinkedIn

The Engage inbox handles comments and mentions for LinkedIn company pages, according to the pricing page. It does not list direct messages for LinkedIn, and it does not list personal profiles, so a founder who posts from a personal profile should expect to answer comments in LinkedIn itself. That is the biggest gap for thought-leadership accounts. Engage also has no auto-replies and no way to assign a conversation to a teammate, and only owners and managers can manage the streams. A new stream can take up to 60 minutes to show comments and mentions after you set it up.

For a company page with modest volume, this is workable. One person checks the LinkedIn stream once or twice a day and replies from the same screen where the posts were scheduled, and email notifications for Engage can be switched on in the profile settings. For a team that needs routing, assignment or reply rules, it is not enough. Plan on LinkedIn's own tools for that.

LinkedIn analytics: profiles versus pages

SocialBee's LinkedIn analytics cover both personal profiles and company pages, including posts you published outside SocialBee. The LinkedIn scheduler page lists reach, engagement, audience growth and post history. Company pages get more: audience country and industry. Personal profiles get less, and SocialBee removed the Engagement % metric for profile posts because LinkedIn's official API does not supply that data. That matters if a founder's profile is your main channel.

History depends on the plan: 3 months on Bootstrap, 2 years from Accelerate up. PDF export is available on Pro and higher, one profile at a time, with your logo and a report description. Posting History in Analytics lets you pick a strong past post and add it back to a category, which is the natural loop with evergreen recycling. There is no listening and no sentiment analysis, and competitor analysis covers Facebook only, so LinkedIn competitor tracking needs another tool.

A weekly B2B workflow you can copy

This routine fits a small team running one company page and one or two executive profiles. It assumes Pro (3 users), or Accelerate plus an extra user for each reviewer or contributor beyond the first, because it uses approvals, and it assumes you have already set up four categories: thought leadership as evergreen, company news and events as share-once, curated articles, and hiring. Your job each week is to keep those categories stocked and reviewed.

  1. Monday: open Analytics, check last week's reach and engagement for each LinkedIn profile, and note which posts beat the average.
  2. Monday: add the best performers back from Posting History into the evergreen thought-leadership category, with a new variation each.
  3. Tuesday: draft the week's new posts with the AI Post Generator, one per pillar, and turn the strongest into a document carousel.
  4. Tuesday: add a first comment with the article link and a hashtag collection to each post that needs one.
  5. Wednesday: the reviewer approves or returns drafts in Content Approval; contributors fix and resubmit.
  6. Daily: check the LinkedIn company page stream in Engage, and answer personal-profile comments in LinkedIn itself.
  7. Friday: confirm the next week's slots are filled, and expire any post tied to a past event.

The loop is simple on purpose. Monday's numbers feed the evergreen queue, the queue keeps the profiles active between new posts, and approvals keep the executive's voice in check. If you can spare only one hour, spend it on Tuesday's drafting and let the evergreen category carry the rest of the week. Pause a category during a quiet week rather than deleting posts. Most weeks, that is enough.

Frequently asked questions

Can SocialBee post to LinkedIn personal profiles and company pages?+

Yes. It publishes directly to both. Connecting a company page requires being a Super Admin of that LinkedIn Page.

What is the LinkedIn character limit in SocialBee?+

3,000 characters. Older SocialBee pages that say 1300 are outdated.

Can I schedule LinkedIn carousels with SocialBee?+

Yes, as document posts built from PDF, DOC, DOCX, PPT or PPTX files up to 100 MB and 300 pages. They work in the new Post Editor only, on profiles and company pages.

Does SocialBee support a first comment on LinkedIn?+

Yes, on both personal profiles and company pages, set through Customize for each profile. A first comment can hold text, links or hashtags.

Can I reply to LinkedIn comments in SocialBee?+

For company pages, yes: the Engage inbox covers comments and mentions. Personal profiles and LinkedIn messages are not listed, and there are no auto-replies or assignment.

Which SocialBee plan do I need for LinkedIn approvals?+

Accelerate, at $49 a month billed monthly, is the first plan with post approvals. It includes 1 user, so a separate reviewer needs an extra user or Pro.

The bottom line

SocialBee is a solid LinkedIn scheduler for small B2B teams and founders: it posts directly to profiles and company pages, handles document carousels and first comments, and its categories and evergreen recycling keep a thought-leadership calendar full without daily effort. Start with the 14-day Pro trial, connect as a Super Admin, and schedule one test post with a carousel, a mention and a first comment first. Choose Accelerate if you need approvals, keeping in mind it includes 1 user and no internal notes, unlike the Pro trial; choose Pro if you need three users or PDF reports. Look elsewhere if your priority is answering LinkedIn messages or comments on personal profiles from one inbox.
