Tidio costs $0 on the Free plan, $29 a month billed monthly for Starter, or $24.17 a month billed annually ($290 a year), and Growth starts at $59 a month billed monthly, or $49.17 a month billed annually, for 250 billable conversations a month [1]. Each price covers one project, meaning one website or widget setup, with 10 seats included on Free, Starter and Growth. Seats are not the meter. Your bill follows human-answered conversations. AI is extra: Lyro and Flows carry their own quotas and prices.

Annual billing gives two months free: you pay ten monthly prices for twelve months, which is 16.7% less, by our arithmetic. Starter comes to $290 a year billed annually against $348 a year billed monthly. The Free plan is permanent and needs no card; it includes 50 billable conversations a month, 10 seats, 100 Flows visitors a month and 50 Lyro conversations once per project. Our guide to whether Tidio is free covers what that plan leaves out.
Plans also unlock features. Starter adds the live visitors list, operating hours and the Chat Page. Growth adds macros, permissions and custom roles, automatic chat assignment, advanced analytics and native Shopify actions such as refunds and order cancellations from the inbox. The No Tidio branding add-on is listed at $16.67 a month on the pricing page for Growth. More than 10 seats means Plus, which Tidio activates itself; it adds departments, OpenAPI, webhooks, the Analytics API, Lyro Connect, ticketing automations and live-chat support from Tidio. Premium adds SSO, the Mobile SDK and Slack support.
Lyro is billed per conversation it answers in, not per resolution; pay-per-resolution exists only on Premium.
The two extra meters: Lyro and Flows
Lyro starts at $39 a month billed monthly, or $32.50 a month billed annually, for 50 Lyro conversations a month. The 100-conversation quota is $75 billed monthly or $62.50 billed annually; 500 costs $350 or $291.67; 1,000 costs $700 or $583.33. By our arithmetic, that is 78 cents down to 70 cents a Lyro conversation billed monthly. Tidio says Lyro conversations start from $0.50 on its sales-led plans. A paid quota can be added on any plan, Free included, and it unlocks product recommendations. The Tidio AI playbook covers what Lyro does with them.
Lyro bills per conversation it joins, not per resolution. A Lyro conversation counts the first time Lyro answers in a chat or ticket thread, once however many replies follow. The thread closes after 15 minutes of inactivity, and a later visitor message opens a new, newly counted thread. Immediate handoffs cost nothing. Pay-per-resolution billing and a guaranteed 50% resolution rate exist only on Premium. The 50 free Lyro conversations never refresh. Once they are gone, Lyro stops answering.
Flows, the rule-based chatbot builder, is metered by unique visitors reached. One visitor who runs at least one Flow uses one unit, however many Flows follow. The free level covers a hundred such visitors monthly. Paid Flows quotas run from $29 a month billed monthly, or $24.17 billed annually, for 2,000 visitors, up to $299 or $249.17 for 100,000. A proactive Lyro message also draws on this quota. When it runs out, Flows stop for new visitors. Live chat keeps working.
Size your tier by conversations an agent replies to or starts; chats Lyro or Flows finish alone are not billable.
What counts, what resets and what happens at 100%
Tidio's rule is precise. A billable conversation is any live chat, ticket, email or Messenger, Instagram or WhatsApp conversation that includes a message from a human agent. It is billed once a human replies or starts it, and it counts once however many messages are exchanged. Unanswered visitor messages do not count. Replies from Flows and Lyro do not count either. Social conversations and tickets share one quota per project. A conversation Lyro answers before an agent steps in meets both definitions, so it uses both quotas.
That makes AI a coverage purchase, not a discount. Conversations Lyro or Flows finish alone drop off the conversation bill, so a team can sometimes sit in a smaller tier. Yet dropping one Growth tier saves between $20 and $100 a month billed monthly, by our arithmetic, while the smallest Lyro quota costs $39 a month billed monthly. Buy Lyro for after-hours answers. Not to shrink the plan.
The limit is a hard stop. A banner appears at 80% of the conversation quota. At 100%, agents can no longer see or answer new incoming conversations until the quota resets monthly or you upgrade. On the Free plan that wall arrives at 50 conversations. WhatsApp adds one more number: each number gets 1,000 free outgoing messages a month, counting agent, Lyro and Flows replies. Above that, Tidio bills paid plans at Meta's local rates at month end. Free and trial projects cannot send more.
When the monthly conversation quota is used up, agents cannot see or answer new incoming conversations until the reset or an upgrade.
Automatic upgrades, refunds and the annual bet
Automatic upgrades are on by default for new projects on monthly self-serve Customer Service, Lyro and Flows packages [2]. An alert arrives at 80% of a quota; at 95% the package moves up a level, for example from Growth 250 at $59 a month billed monthly to Growth 400 at $89. It never happens on Free, during the trial, on annual plans or on Plus. You can switch it off at checkout or later. Separately, the Terms let Tidio upgrade an over-limit account with notice; refuse and keep exceeding, and Tidio may suspend the service.
The Terms owe no refunds for partial periods, upgrades, downgrades or unused time [3]. Tidio may grant one in exceptional cases at its discretion, capped at three months of service. You can cancel any time; paid features stay until the period ends, then the project moves to Free. Plan changes take effect at the next billing cycle. Prices exclude taxes and bank or PayPal fees.
Those rules decide the annual question. Annual billing equals monthly billing at ten months of use, so it pays only if you are sure of a full year. Test first. The trial lasts 7 days, needs no card, opens every paid feature, then moves the account to Free with no charge. Annual plans also skip automatic upgrades. That sounds safe until agents go blind at 100%.
The 7-day trial needs no card and drops to Free with no charge, so test a month of real volume before committing to a year with no refunds owed.
What a real team pays, and how that compares
Three cases show the spread, by our arithmetic. A small store on Starter at 100 conversations, with a 100-conversation Lyro quota, pays $104 a month billed monthly, or $1,040 a year billed annually. A team at 250 human conversations plus 100 Lyro conversations pays $134 a month billed monthly, or $1,340 a year billed annually. A busier team at 1,000 human conversations plus 500 Lyro conversations pays $529 a month billed monthly, or $5,290 a year billed annually. Next to Starter, even the smallest Lyro quota, $39 a month billed monthly for 50 conversations, costs more than the plan; next to Growth 250 at $59, the AI quota costs more from 100 Lyro conversations at $75, both billed monthly.
Seats are where Tidio pulls ahead. For three agents, Tidio Growth 250 at $59 a month billed monthly sits below Zendesk Suite Team at $207 a month for three agents billed monthly. For ten agents, Tidio Growth 1,000 at $179 a month billed monthly compares with Zendesk Suite Team at $690 a month billed monthly. The exception at both sizes is Zoho Desk Standard billed annually: $140 a month for ten agents against Tidio's $149.17 a month billed annually.
Small teams can still pay less elsewhere. At 1,000 conversations billed monthly, Tidio becomes cheaper than Zendesk Suite Team from three agents, Help Scout Standard and Freshdesk Omni Growth from six, and LiveChat, now sold to new customers as Text plans, from eight agents on Text Essential. Zoho Desk Standard needs nine agents billed monthly. AI is harder to compare, because Zendesk and Help Scout charge per resolution. Our Tidio alternatives guide weighs each rival on its own terms.
Frequently asked questions
Can I run several websites on one Tidio plan?+
One widget can serve several sites with shared settings. If you want separate widgets, each site becomes its own project with its own plan and billing.
Can I buy Lyro without a Customer Service plan?+
Yes. Tidio sells the Lyro AI Agent standalone, and a paid Lyro quota can also be added to any plan, including Free.
How can I pay for Tidio?+
Self-serve plans are charged automatically to a card each month or year, and discount codes can be entered at checkout. Wire transfer is available on Plus and Premium.
Why do older reviews quote Tidio prices by operator?+
They describe legacy plans from before the current model. Tidio's help says most users cannot get them, so today's prices are per project by billable conversations.
The bottom line
Tidio is cheap where most help desks are expensive: a team of up to ten pays one project price set by human-answered volume, from $29 a month billed monthly on Starter to $349 billed monthly at 2,000 conversations. The cost hides in the other two meters. Price the Lyro quota first, switch off automatic upgrades for a fixed bill, and pay annually only after the trial proves a year of use.
