Why people look past Ubersuggest

Three reasons dominate. Rank tracking became weekly-only in September 2025 [1], there is no public API, and backlink data comes from Moz rather than an index Ubersuggest crawls itself. Some buyers also want white-label reports, which Ubersuggest does not offer. Each gap points to a different rival, so the right alternative depends on which one hurts you. Every rival number below comes from that rival's own pricing page, read from the US in October 2026, and Ubersuggest's numbers come from its pricing file [2]. We compared entry and team tiers, tracking frequency, keywords, users, trials and refunds. There are no affiliate links.

Tool Best at Entry price
SE Ranking Daily tracking, no-card trial $129/mo, or $103.20/mo billed annually
Serpstat Daily tracking for less $69/mo, or $50/mo billed annually
Semrush Breadth of tools $139/mo, or $117.33/mo billed annually
Ahrefs Backlink depth $29/mo (Starter, monthly only)
Mangools Simple keyword tools $49/mo, or $29.90/mo billed annually

Shortlist by the missing feature

If daily rankings matter, shortlist SE Ranking and Serpstat first. For backlinks, look at Ahrefs and Moz Pro.

Price, tracking and trials side by side

What you pay

At entry level, Ubersuggest Individual costs $29 a month or $192 a year. Ahrefs Starter also costs $29, monthly only. Mangools Basic costs $49, or $358.80 a year, Serpstat Individual costs $50 a month billed annually, Moz Pro Standard costs $99, or $79 a month yearly, and Semrush SEO costs $139. Ubersuggest is the cheapest per year. At the level most small teams buy, Ubersuggest Business costs $49 a month for 2 users and 7 projects, against Moz Pro Medium at $179, Ahrefs Standard at $249 and SE Ranking Growth at $279. Ubersuggest costs a fraction of all three. The limits differ widely, though.

How often rankings update

Tool Update frequency
Ubersuggest Weekly, all plans
Ahrefs Weekly, all plans (daily as a paid add-on)
Semrush SEO Daily (500 keywords)
SE Ranking Core Daily (2,000 keywords)
Serpstat Daily

Daily tracking costs more everywhere. On tracked keywords, Ubersuggest Individual sits near the bottom with 125 per project. Ahrefs Starter tracks 50, Mangools Basic 200, Moz Standard 300, Semrush SEO 500 daily, Ahrefs Lite 750 weekly and SE Ranking Core 2,000 daily. Entry plans everywhere are small. Seats are a different story: Ubersuggest includes 1, 2 or 5 users and sells extra seats at $5 a month, while Ahrefs Lite sells up to two more users at $40 a month each and Semrush lists additional users at $45 a month and up. Ubersuggest's seats are the cheapest by far.

Trials and refunds

Ubersuggest offers a 7-day trial on monthly plans only, with a card required. SE Ranking offers 14 days with no credit card, Serpstat a 7-day trial that needs a card (verified with a $1 charge that is returned) and renews into a paid plan unless renewal is switched off, and Moz a free trial from its pricing page, while Ahrefs points to Ahrefs Free instead of a trial. Refunds are narrow across the category. Ubersuggest's Terms make fees non-refundable after the free trial, apart from a statutory 14-day cancellation right in the EU and UK and 7 days in Brazil. Ahrefs' US terms say it has no obligation to provide refunds in any instance, and only monthly plans that were not used qualify. Semrush refunds a first annual purchase within 7 days, and Mangools refunds within 48 hours of payment. Use the trials. They are the refund.

On the review platforms, Ubersuggest rates lowest of the six tools on G2, and in our own composite scores for the SEO category SE Ranking comes first and Ubersuggest last of the group. Ubersuggest ties Serpstat for the best value-for-money score in this group and trails on capability, and our scores weigh those two most. That pattern matches everything in this section: the rivals sell more capability, and Ubersuggest sells a lower bill.

SE Ranking: daily tracking, an API and a no-card trial

SE Ranking tracks rankings daily on Core and Growth, with 2,000 keywords and 100 AI prompts on Core and 5,000 keywords and 250 prompts on Growth [3]. Core costs $129 a month or $103.20 billed annually and includes 10 projects and one manager seat. Growth costs $279, or $223.20 billed annually, with 30 projects and three seats. Core also includes 25K API credits and MCP access, and SE Ranking publishes both an API page and an AI Visibility Tracker. That fixes three of Ubersuggest's gaps at once, at a much higher bill per account.

Per tracked keyword, though, the math turns around. Core costs about $0.065 per keyword a month against Ubersuggest Individual's $0.23 (our arithmetic), so SE Ranking is cheaper per keyword and pricier per account. Its 14-day trial needs no credit card, twice the length of Ubersuggest's trial, and it removes the risk of an unwanted first charge. For a cautious buyer, it is the easiest test in the category. Agencies with reporting scripts should look here first. Pick SE Ranking for daily tracking, an API and a no-card trial; pick Ubersuggest for the lowest bill.

Serpstat: the cheapest daily tracking

Serpstat Individual tracks daily, with 10,000 keyword position checks a month across 5 projects, and it costs $50 a month billed annually, which the page says saves $228 a year against monthly billing. That is the cheapest daily tracking in our coverage. Per year, Individual costs $600 against Ubersuggest's $192 (our arithmetic), so daily tracking costs $408 more a year. Weekly-only Ubersuggest users who need daily data should start here.

The limits favor a different kind of buyer. Serpstat Individual allows 100 searches a day, 30,000 pages to audit and 50,000 export rows across 5 projects. Ubersuggest Individual allows 150 searches a day, but only 1 project and 1,000 audited pages. Serpstat favors more sites. Ubersuggest favors more searches. The Team plan adds an API, MCP access for ChatGPT and Claude, and 3 users, while Ubersuggest's MCP works on any account but comes without an API. For scripted access, Serpstat Team wins. Pick Serpstat for cheap daily tracking and more projects; pick Ubersuggest for the lowest yearly price.

Semrush: the broad suite

Semrush sells SEO as one of several toolkits, with AI search tracking built into its SEO plans. The entry SEO plan covers 5 websites and 500 keywords tracked daily, plus Site Audit, AI search performance tracking and AI visibility reports; tracking custom prompts starts on Starter, with 50 prompts tracked daily. That beats Ubersuggest's weekly 125 keywords on both counts. It is the widest platform in the category, and also the priciest entry. SEO costs $139 a month, or $117.33 a month billed annually. Starter costs $199, or $165.17 billed annually, Advanced costs $549, and extra users cost $45 a month or more.

Over a year, Semrush SEO costs $1,407.96 billed annually against Ubersuggest Individual's $192, which is more than seven times as much (our arithmetic). For rank-driven work, it is a clear upgrade. For budget work, it is not. Both free accounts are worth knowing: Semrush allows 10 queries a day in key reports, a 100-page Site Audit and 10 tracked keywords, while Ubersuggest allows 3 reports a day, a 150-page audit and 25 tracked keywords. Neither is a working plan, but both are good samplers. Pick Semrush for daily tracking and breadth; pick Ubersuggest when the budget is under $50 a month.

Ahrefs is known for its own crawler and index, and its data page claims 35T external backlinks in history and 494B pages in its index. Even Ubersuggest's comparison page calls Ahrefs "Well known for its extensive backlink index", while Ubersuggest rents its backlink data from Moz. For link work, that is the decisive difference. Ahrefs Starter costs $29 a month and cannot be bought annually. It runs on credits, gives limited access to Site Explorer, Keywords Explorer, Site Audit and Rank Tracker, and tracks 50 keywords. Same price as Ubersuggest Individual, smaller allowance.

Ahrefs Lite costs $129 a month or $1,290 a year and includes 5 projects, 750 tracked keywords, 5 tracked AI prompts and API and MCP access [4]. One thing does not change: the pricing table lists Rank Tracker updates as weekly on every plan, with daily updates sold as a paid add-on (Rank Tracker Pro), so switching to Ahrefs buys a bigger keyword list, and daily rankings only at an extra charge. On AI visibility, Ahrefs sells Brand Radar, which researches brands across 476M+ organic prompts and is priced separately, with 5, 10 or 20 tracked AI prompts in the plans. Pick Ahrefs for backlinks and an API; pick Ubersuggest for price, yearly billing at the entry level and AI assistant access on a free account. Our Ubersuggest vs Ahrefs comparison goes deeper.

⚠️
Watch out
Ahrefs is weekly too

Ahrefs also updates rank tracking weekly on every plan, and daily updates cost extra as the Rank Tracker Pro add-on, so switching to it buys more keywords and backlink depth, and daily rankings only at an extra charge.

Mangools: simple keyword tools

Mangools sells simple keyword and SERP tools to the same beginners Ubersuggest targets, and both interfaces are friendly. The prices are what differ. Mangools Basic costs $49 a month or $358.80 a year and tracks 200 keywords, and Premium costs $69 a month and tracks 700. Ubersuggest Individual costs $29, or $192 a year, so over a year Mangools Basic costs $166.80 more (our arithmetic). For one site, Mangools tracks more keywords. For seven, Ubersuggest Business tracks 1,050 for $49 (our arithmetic). Pick Mangools for more keywords on one site; pick Ubersuggest for a lower bill and more projects.

Ubersuggest states that its backlink data is sourced exclusively from the Moz API. Moz Pro sells those link metrics directly, with its own interface and tracking, so buying Moz Pro means buying the source and buying Ubersuggest means buying a cheaper window on it. Moz Pro Standard costs $99 a month, or $79 a month paid yearly, or $948 a year at that rate (our arithmetic: $79 x 12), and Medium costs $179 a month or $143 a month yearly. The page also runs a last-chance discount banner. Ubersuggest Individual, at $192 a year, costs about a fifth of Moz Standard's yearly price (our arithmetic: $192 / $948 = 0.20).

Standard includes 1 user, 3 tracked sites, 300 tracked keywords and 400K pages crawled a month. Medium includes 2 users, 10 sites, 1,500 keywords and 2M pages, against Ubersuggest Business at 2 users, 7 sites and 1,050 keywords for $49. Moz crawls more. Ubersuggest costs less. Pick Moz Pro for larger crawls and direct link metrics; pick Ubersuggest for Moz-sourced link data, capped by plan, at a lower price.

Free tools, and one that is not an alternative

Ahrefs Free gives site owners limited access to Site Explorer and Site Audit for their own sites. Semrush's free account gives 10 queries a day and 10 tracked keywords, and Ubersuggest's free account gives 3 reports a day and 25 tracked keywords. Many teams pair Ubersuggest with one of these, using Ahrefs Free for their own site's backlinks and Semrush Free for spot checks, and the combined cost stays at Ubersuggest's price. AnswerThePublic is a different case. It belongs to the same owner and is sold separately: "Ubersuggest users do not have Pro access to AnswerThePublic, and vice versa". It is a question-research tool, not an SEO suite, so it complements Ubersuggest rather than replacing it.

Which alternative for which need

Most buyers are missing one feature, not five, and the usual reasons for leaving map neatly onto the rivals: weekly tracking, no API, Moz backlinks and no white label. The list below matches each need to the rival that fixes it, with the price of that fix. Where Ubersuggest itself is the best answer, we say so, because on cost per seat and on AI tracking included in the price it often is.

💡
Toolkit tip
Overlap the trials

Start the rival's trial in the last week of your paid Ubersuggest cycle, so the two overlap without paying twice.

When to stay, and how to switch

On a tight budget, there is nothing cheaper per year among the paid plans we cover: Ubersuggest Individual at $192 beats Mangools at $358.80, Ahrefs Starter at $348 a year of monthly payments and Serpstat at $600 (our arithmetic). It also has the cheapest seats, AI assistant access on a free account through MCP, ChatGPT and Claude, AI search tracking included on monthly and yearly plans, and a Lifetime option, a limited-time offer that lasts while the product exists, that no rival offers. Stay if weekly rankings are enough, your backlink needs are basic, you have no reporting scripts and your sites are small. For a blogger or a local business, that describes most of the job, and switching would only add cost. Our buyer's checklist covers each check.

If you do leave, plan the exit. Canceling removes rankings and history except the oldest project with 25 keywords, Lifetime plans cannot be transferred or refunded, and add-ons are never refunded. Export rankings, audits and keyword lists as CSV or PDF before canceling, since only paid and trial accounts can export. Most rivals import CSV keyword lists. Cancel at the end of a paid cycle, because access continues until then, and start the rival's trial in the last week so the two overlap without paying twice. Outside the statutory rights in the EU and UK (14 days) and Brazil (7 days), yearly plans cannot be refunded mid-term.

To choose in one week, run both tools on your own data rather than trusting feature lists. On day one, list your sites, keywords, users and whether you need daily rankings. Start SE Ranking's no-card trial on day two and Ubersuggest's trial on day three. On day six, compare the same keywords in both, looking at what each one found. Cancel one on day seven.

Frequently asked questions

What is the best alternative to Ubersuggest?+

SE Ranking for daily tracking and a no-card trial; Ahrefs for backlinks; Semrush for breadth.

Is there a cheaper alternative to Ubersuggest?+

Not on a yearly basis among the paid plans we cover; Ahrefs Starter matches the $29 monthly price. Free options cost nothing: Ahrefs Free, Semrush's free account and Google Search Console.

Which Ubersuggest alternative has daily rank tracking?+

Serpstat is the cheapest, at $50 a month billed annually ($69 month to month). SE Ranking Core tracks 2,000 keywords daily for $103.20 a month billed annually ($129 month to month), and Semrush SEO tracks 500 daily for $117.33 a month billed annually ($139 month to month).

Which Ubersuggest alternative has an API?+

SE Ranking Core includes 25K API credits and MCP, Ahrefs includes API and MCP from Lite, and Serpstat adds them from its Team plan. Ubersuggest has no public API.

Is Moz Pro better than Ubersuggest for backlinks?+

Ubersuggest's backlink data comes exclusively from the Moz API, but it shows a plan-capped slice of that data, and disavowing links happens in Google Search Console, not inside Ubersuggest. Moz Pro sells Moz's link metrics directly, with larger crawls, at a higher price.

What do I lose if I leave Ubersuggest?+

Canceling removes rankings and history except the oldest project with 25 keywords. Fees are non-refundable after the 7-day trial, yearly, Lifetime and add-ons included (EU, UK and Brazil statutory rights aside), so cancel at the end of a paid cycle and export your data as CSV or PDF first.

The bottom line

No paid plan in our coverage costs less per year than Ubersuggest. Each one beats it on a single axis instead: SE Ranking and Serpstat on daily tracking, Ahrefs on backlinks and the API, Semrush on breadth, and Moz on crawl size. That makes the choice simple. Name the one feature you are missing, pick the rival that fixes it, and test it with a trial before you cancel anything. If nothing is missing, stay where you are, keep the free tiers alongside, and spend the difference on the work itself.
