Zoho Desk connects to most of the tools a support team already runs, but the edition decides which ones. The three integrations buyers ask about most, Zoho CRM, Jira and Slack, start on Standard and are not available on Free or Express, according to Zoho's plan comparison matrix.[1] Telephony, webhooks and private extensions need Professional, and SalesIQ live chat needs Enterprise. Our verdict is simple. If a CRM, an engineering tracker or a team chat app sits in your stack, budget for Standard from day one. Express looks cheaper. It cannot connect them.

Which integrations each edition unlocks

Standard costs $20 per agent per month billed monthly, or $14 per agent per month billed annually. Every active agent needs a license on the same edition, so the bill grows with headcount; our pricing guide covers seats, renewal and refunds. The grid below lists the lowest edition for each connection we checked in Zoho's matrix and integration pages. Free and Express still get the mobile app, Radar and one free Zoho Assist user for remote sessions, but no CRM sync, no Teams and no Zoho Analytics.

Integration Lowest edition What it adds
Zoho CRM, Jira, Slack Standard CRM sync, bugs filed from tickets, chat notifications
Microsoft Teams, Salesforce, Zoho Books, Zoho Analytics Standard Ticket tabs, two-way data sharing, invoices, reporting
Public Marketplace extensions, Zoho Flow, Zapier Standard Shopify and other add-ons, no-code automation
WhatsApp and instant messaging, Business Messaging chat Standard Messaging channels inside the ticket queue
Telephony, webhooks, private extensions Professional Calls as tickets, event pushes, in-house apps
SalesIQ live chat, Deluge custom functions Enterprise Pre-sale chat, scripted automation

The jump from Express is where small teams feel the cost. Four agents on Express pay $28 a month billed annually. The same four agents on Standard pay $56 a month billed annually. By our arithmetic, that gap is $28 a month, or $336 a year, and it is the real price of connecting a CRM or a chat tool. A sixth agent forces Standard anyway, because Express stops at five users.

One more caveat applies to the no-code tools: flows that rely on features Standard lacks are excluded from Zoho Flow and Zapier at that edition. Salesforce adds conditions of its own: your Salesforce org must be on the Enterprise, Unlimited, Performance, Professional with API, or Developer edition, and the integration is restricted, as is Bigin, when Desk already syncs with Zoho CRM.

Zoho CRM: the deepest connection

The native Zoho CRM integration is the strongest reason to pick Zoho Desk over a standalone help desk. Contacts, accounts and products sync between the two apps, with products added in August 2026. You choose one-way sync, with CRM as the parent, or two-way sync, and you can switch from one-way to two-way later.[2] Agents see CRM data such as purchases, deal size and licenses inside the ticket and in the mobile app, so they stop switching tabs to learn who is writing in.

Sales gets something back too. CRM users are added to Desk as light agents and can be @mentioned on a ticket, and a Zoho Desk tab appears inside CRM. SalesSignals notify a rep when a lead raises a ticket, answers one or leaves a happiness rating. The Handshake work mode, available from Standard, sorts tickets from leads by deal value, and it needs the CRM integration to work. For account-based teams, that pairing is the feature.

Two conditions catch teams late. First, CRM sync consumes API credits. Standard gives 50,000 credits a day plus 250 per user, so a 10-agent account gets 52,500 a day by our arithmetic; Professional gives 75,000 plus 500 per user, or 80,000 for the same team. Marketplace extension calls draw on the same pool, and Zoho's API dashboard sends alerts at 80% and 90% of it. Second, the sync pauses on Free and when a trial expires. An unpurchased trial moves to Free automatically, so plan the purchase before go-live.

Slack, Teams and Jira: bringing engineers into the loop

Slack setup is department-based. You can map every department to one channel or give each department its own channel, public or private. Several departments can share a channel, but one department cannot post to several. Multiple Slack workspaces can connect to one help desk. Agents can create tickets, comment and reply from Slack, slash-command answers are private to whoever ran them, and notifications cover closures, status changes and happiness ratings. One conflict matters: Zoho Cliq cannot be installed while Slack is connected. Choose one.

Microsoft Teams works differently. Ticket views appear as tabs inside Teams, with notifications alongside. If you want rule-driven alerts instead, workflow notifications to Slack, Teams, Google Chat or Cliq channels arrive through an incoming webhook and need Professional. Configuring those alerts takes the Support Administrator profile plus the Help Desk Automation permission. The alert goes to a channel, or to a space in Google Chat, never to a person, and a placeholder with no value is still sent, just empty.

Jira is the engineering bridge. An agent files a Jira issue from a ticket or links an existing one, limited to one Jira issue per ticket. Comments and status updates then sync both ways in real time, though only comments posted after the link.[3] Desk departments map to Jira projects many-to-many. Cloud and on-premise Jira both work, but an on-premise server must run HTTPS and be reachable from the internet. Check that first.

Engineers who only read tickets and leave private comments fit the light agent role. Light agents are an add-on from Standard at $6 per light agent per month, and Enterprise includes 50. Picture 10 agents and 20 engineers, billed annually. By our arithmetic, that team pays $260 a month on Standard ($140 plus $120), $350 on Professional ($230 plus $120) and $400 on Enterprise, where the 20 light agents are included. For 10 agents, Enterprise becomes the cheaper of the top two editions at 29 light agents, and it undercuts Standard at 44.

Toolkit tip
Map Slack channels by department

Several departments can share one Slack channel, but one department cannot post to several, so plan channels around departments first.

Shopify, WhatsApp and live chat

Shopify connects through the Shopify for Zoho Desk Marketplace extension, so it needs Standard like other public extensions. An administrator installs it and picks the department and agent profiles that see it. The ticket widget shows customer details, a linked order ID, the store, order status and total, shipping and billing addresses, and one order note. The extension can also open a ticket for every order whose status matches your criteria, with up to four conditions joined by AND or OR, routed to one department.[4]

Its limits are specific. For orders placed before installation, only the latest five appear. Stores on Shopify's Basic plan sync sales orders only, with customer personal data restricted. New installs create an app in the Shopify Dev Dashboard with a client ID and secret. Zoho's page describes viewing orders and creating tickets, and no actions that cancel, edit or reverse an order. Our e-commerce guide covers what that means for a store.

WhatsApp arrives with instant messaging on Standard, and Zoho acts as a WhatsApp Business Solution Provider. You need Facebook Business Manager, a verified business, a WhatsApp Business account and a number. Business-initiated messages draw on prepaid IM credits at $2 per credit plus a 3% fee; credits do not expire and are non-refundable once bought. At zero, business-initiated messages stop. Since 1 October 2026, replies inside the 24-hour customer window are free only for the first 1,000 service messages per business number a month; after that they need IM credits too. Meta's per-message pricing applies on top. WhatsApp is not offered in the China data center.

⚠️
Watch out
WhatsApp credits are non-refundable

IM credits are prepaid at $2 per credit plus a 3% fee and cannot be refunded once bought; at zero, business-initiated WhatsApp messages stop.

Live chat comes in two forms. Business Messaging is Desk's own chat channel from Standard, with 1, 10 or 50 channels on Standard, Professional and Enterprise. SalesIQ live chat is Enterprise only. Its linked SalesIQ plan gives as many operators as Desk chat agents, but no visitor tracking, routing or screen sharing, and chat works only in public departments. Zoho positions Business Messaging for post-sale support and SalesIQ for pre-sale conversations.

Telephony, Marketplace apps and automation glue

Telephony needs Professional, at $35 per agent per month billed monthly or $23 per agent per month billed annually. Every agent then needs a Professional license, so the telephony bill grows with headcount, as the pricing guide above explains. Supported providers include Twilio, RingCentral, Asterisk, Amazon Connect, Zoho Voice and Zoho PhoneBridge, and Zoho's plan comparison lists 85 other telephony integrations. Missed calls and voicemails become tickets, and call recordings land in the ticket as MP3 files. Multi-level IVR is Enterprise only.

The Marketplace splits into two kinds of extension. Public extensions are reviewed by Zoho, can be free or paid, and are priced by their developers per installation or per user, and some offer a trial. Private extensions skip the review, are always free, install through a URL and need Professional. Read the fine print before you click install. Installing an app shares your name and email with its developer, and Zoho's Terms let it remove or disable any third-party integration at any time.

For custom glue, Professional allows 5 active webhooks and Enterprise 10; Deluge custom functions are Enterprise only. Zoho Books and Zoho Invoice turn tickets and time entries into invoices. The Zoho Analytics integration needs its own paid Analytics plan after a 15-day trial, and deleting the integration deletes the Analytics data. Power BI and GitLab connect from Standard, with up to 1,000,000 records per Power BI sync.

Count API credits before syncing

Zoho CRM sync and Marketplace extension calls draw on the daily API credit pool, which on Standard is 50,000 plus 250 per user.

Moving in from Zendesk or Freshdesk

Zoho's Zwitch migration service is included on paid editions; for a move from Freshdesk, plan on Standard. Zoho says migration is free and moves agents, accounts, contacts, tickets, threads, comments, attachments and knowledge base articles, within two weeks by its own estimate. Its help pages describe two phases about two weeks apart. Keep the old account and its admin seat active until the move finishes, because Zwitch reads the old tool through its REST API, and request the migration well before that subscription ends.

Two timing traps apply. Freshdesk attachment links stay valid for one week, so the attachment phase cannot wait. On the Zendesk side, new API-token creation ended on 27 October 2026, and all Support API tokens stop working on 30 April 2027. Confirm the migration method with Zoho before you start. Trial migrations are capped at 2 GB.

Frequently asked questions

Does Zoho Desk integrate with HubSpot or Pipedrive?+

Zoho's integrations page lists HubSpot, Pipedrive, Mailchimp, Asana, Trello, Google Workspace and Office 365 among its third-party connections. Check each listing for its edition and any developer fee before installing.

Can I connect my own OpenAI key to Zoho Desk?+

Yes. Express and Standard get generative AI only through your own OpenAI key, billed by OpenAI, in the US, EU, AU, IN, JP, CA and UAE data centers; Professional and Enterprise can use it alongside native Zia, but only one generative AI service can be active per organization.

Can Zoho Desk translate customer tickets?+

Zoho lists Google Translate (a Marketplace extension, Standard and higher) and Unbabel for translation; both run on your own API key with that provider and are billed by it.

Does Zoho offer an MCP server for Zoho Desk?+

Zoho MCP exposes Zoho app tools, Desk included, to any MCP client at no charge for Zoho users, with OAuth and user-level permissions. Its actions count against Zoho Desk's own daily API credits.

The bottom line

Zoho Desk's integrations are deep where Zoho owns both ends, with two-way CRM sync, SalesSignals and Handshake, and solid for Slack, Teams, Jira and Shopify. The named native integrations, Zoho CRM, Jira, Slack, Teams, Salesforce, Zoho Analytics and Zoho Books, start on Standard and are not on Free or Express; only the mobile app, Radar and one free Zoho Assist user come with every edition. Treat the edition as the integration decision. Standard covers CRM, chat tools, Jira, WhatsApp and public extensions; Professional adds telephony, webhooks and private apps; Enterprise adds SalesIQ chat, scripted functions and 50 included light agents. Count your engineers and API credits before you choose, and you will not have to upgrade mid-rollout.
