Cancel where you paid, and do it a day early
To cancel a CapCut subscription, turn off auto-renewal in the place that took your money: Apple's subscription settings for an App Store purchase, the Google Play app for an Android purchase, or your account settings on CapCut Web or Desktop for a card or PayPal purchase. Do it at least 24 hours before the renewal date, or the next cycle is charged [1]. Pro and Teams both renew automatically. After you cancel, the plan keeps working to the end of the period you paid for, and CapCut generally refunds nothing, so timing matters more than method.
CapCut's US pricing page lists Pro at $19.99 a month billed monthly, Ultra at $79 a month billed monthly and Teams at $12.49 per seat a month billed monthly for the default 2 seats. Those figures are shown for reference only, and your own price, taxes and offers appear after sign-in, so our CapCut pricing guide explains why two accounts can see different numbers. By our arithmetic, twelve forgotten monthly renewals at that listed Pro figure add up to $239.88 a year billed monthly, and the 2-seat Teams default runs $24.98 a month billed monthly. A reminder may arrive one day before renewal. Don't count on it.
Sign in with the account that actually holds the plan. CapCut treats every login method as a separate account, so a subscription bought under Google sign-in does not show up when you log in with email or TikTok, even with the same address. If the subscription page says there is nothing to cancel, try your other login methods first. The plan is tied to the account, not the device, so one cancellation stops it on Mobile, Desktop and Web together.
Step by step on each store and on CapCut Web
| Where you bought | Where you cancel | Where a refund request goes |
|---|---|---|
| iPhone or iPad app (App Store) | Apple's subscription settings | Apple, via Report a Problem in your purchase history |
| Android app (Google Play) | The Google Play app | The Google Play app if the time window allows, or Report a problem |
| CapCut Web, or Pro joined from the Desktop app | Account settings on CapCut Web or Desktop | CapCut support or the payment gateway (Stripe, PayPal, your bank) with the order number |
| Teams | The Team Owner, on CapCut Online or Desktop | CapCut support, with the order number |
App Store and Google Play
Mobile purchases run entirely through the stores, so the CapCut app cannot stop them for you. For an iPhone or iPad subscription, cancel in Apple's settings; CapCut's help notes that App Store subscriptions must be cancelled there even in cases where CapCut ends other renewals itself. For Android, open the Google Play app, find the CapCut subscription and cancel it. Google Play cancellations can take 5 to 14 working days to process, by CapCut's account, which is a strong reason to act days before the 24-hour line.
CapCut Web and Desktop
A web purchase, paid by card, PayPal, Apple Pay or Google Pay depending on region, is cancelled from your CapCut account settings on Web or Desktop. Pro joined from the Desktop app counts here too, because its Join button opens CapCut Web in your browser to take the payment. Use the subscription page where the plan was bought, then confirm that renewal shows as off. If the option is missing or cancelling fails, only CapCut's customer service can fix it. They ask for the account email, the platform, a screenshot and the order number or receipt.
Teams: the owner cancels
Teams is bought by the Team Owner, and only the owner can cancel, upgrade or change seats; members cannot change subscription details. Manage the team from CapCut Online or Desktop, not the mobile app. Seats can be reduced only at renewal, so trimming a team mid-cycle saves nothing until the next billing date. A cancelled Teams license can't be reused for another team, and CapCut doesn't transfer an active plan, its remaining time, seats or assets to a different team, even one with the same owner. Restructuring? Let the old team run out.
Free trials turn into charges on their own
The 7-day Pro trial is offered only in selected regions, to accounts that never had Pro, and it converts automatically. On mobile, the store account is charged after 7 days unless you cancel. On the web, starting the trial needs a payment method, and the charge lands when the trial ends. Windows users who never had Pro may get a 7-day trial too, and it becomes a paid subscription unless you cancel before it ends, so check the billing period shown at checkout before you confirm. Cancel a trial where it started, and treat its last day like a renewal date.
CapCut says Google Play cancellations can take 5 to 14 working days to process, so don't wait for the 24-hour line before renewal.
Refunds: the rule, the routes and the exceptions
CapCut treats subscriptions as virtual goods and generally does not refund them [2]. The exception it names is a special case such as accidental double-billing, which you can appeal under its Terms of Service. Seeing a lower price on someone else's account is not grounds, since CapCut says the benefits are granted at purchase. The Terms text itself (Terms of Service as served, last updated 9 June 2020) contains no subscription, renewal or cancellation clauses, so the help center and the stores' rules are what you work with.
The route depends on the store [3]. Apple handles App Store requests through Report a Problem in your purchase history. Google Play lets you cancel or request a refund in the Play app while the time window allows, with Report a problem as the fallback. For Web and PC subscriptions without a direct option, contact CapCut support or the payment gateway, meaning Stripe, PayPal or your bank, with the order number. Paid templates bought in the mobile app are charged by Apple or Google, so any refund request for them follows that store's policy.
Before you file, work out what the second charge really is. CapCut lists two usual causes of a double charge around the billing date: two accounts, often two login methods, each holding active Pro, or a failed renewal that CapCut retried, where the successful retry is the original renewal and not an extra fee. Only the first is a true duplicate. One more exception is automatic. If an account is closed after failing CapCut's age check, purchases not made through Apple are refunded within about 7 days after the appeal deadline, while Apple purchases still go through Apple.
Turning off auto-renewal only stops the next charge. CapCut generally refunds nothing already paid, apart from appeals in special cases such as accidental double-billing.
If you want a refund window on the replacement, check each rival's condition first. Descript refunds a plan within 48 hours of the invoice date (Editor seats within 7 days), with no prorated refunds and no refunds on top-ups. Filmora lists a 30-day money-back guarantee subject to its refund policy. VEED refunds only accounts never used, within 14 days, so once you upload or edit there it is no safer than CapCut. Our guide to cancelling Descript walks through how its seat billing ends.
What happens to credits, drafts and cloud files
Cancelling doesn't cut you off at once. Subscription credits never roll over and expire the moment the plan ends. Purchased credits don't expire with the plan; activity credits keep their own campaign expiry. Credits don't replace the plan, though: some AI tools need an active membership, and you lose Pro-only editing such as 4K export and advanced keyframes even with credits left. On Teams, subscription credits are pooled at team level and vanish with the plan, while personal purchased and activity credits stay yours.
Your drafts don't disappear. Projects that use paid materials stay intact and editable after Pro ends, but you can't export them until you renew or swap the paid elements out [4]. Pro materials carry a Pro icon: delete each one from the timeline, reselect the cover, and the export goes through without Pro. A project built only from free assets in the standard editor exports without a watermark, while templates add a CapCut ending clip you can delete first. Our guide to what CapCut's Free plan does covers the rest.
Cloud files are kept too. After Pro ends, uploaded videos are not deleted and can still be downloaded, but uploads stop until your usage falls under the free allowance, which is small or nothing: spaces created since 25 March 2026 get 0 GB free. Add-on storage packs are frozen, not deleted, and return if you renew within one year. Teams is stricter. When a Teams plan lapses, content beyond the free limit is frozen and can't be opened, edited, downloaded or shared, so the owner should pull team files down before the end date.
Export finished drafts that use Pro materials and download team files while the plan is still active. After a Teams plan lapses, content over the free limit is frozen.
Coming back later, or changing plans instead
Cancelling is also the only way to change plans. CapCut doesn't allow upgrading, downgrading or switching mid-subscription: you cancel where you bought, wait for the period to end, then subscribe to the other plan. Resubscribing costs the current listed price, not your old discounted rate, and a promotional first month renews at the standard rate.
Long-time subscribers have the most to lose. Pro accounts from before the spring 2026 update were upgraded automatically and kept their price during the active period, but that old price is closed to new subscribers, so cancelling gives it up for good. CapCut says it has no plans to raise renewal prices for current subscribers, and that future changes would come with advance notice. If you only want a cheaper month, an Ultra subscriber can step down to Pro, but only after the current cycle ends. Weigh that before you switch renewal off.
Frequently asked questions
Does a cancelled yearly CapCut plan refund the unused months?+
CapCut's help describes no pro-rated refund: subscriptions are generally non-refundable virtual goods, and a cancelled plan runs to the end of its paid term. CapCut's US pricing page also has a Yearly tab, but like the monthly figures it is labelled reference-only and CapCut runs time-limited yearly offers, so we don't quote a yearly price; check the Yearly tab after you sign in.
Can I move my CapCut Pro subscription to another account?+
No. CapCut does not transfer Pro or Standard benefits to another account, and a Teams plan, its time, seats or assets cannot move to another team.
Is there a cheaper CapCut plan I can step down to in the US?+
The Standard plan exists only in some regions and works only in the mobile app, so it is not a US option. In the US, an Ultra subscriber can move to Pro and anyone can drop to Free, but only by cancelling where you paid, letting the paid cycle end and then subscribing to the new plan; CapCut doesn't switch plans mid-cycle.
Can licensed music vanish from drafts I keep after cancelling?+
Yes, whether or not you pay: CapCut can remove licensed library tracks when licenses expire, and they disappear even from saved projects. Audio you uploaded yourself stays, so export finished videos promptly.
The bottom line
Cancelling CapCut takes a minute once you know who billed you, and the real work is everything around it. Act at least 24 hours before renewal, days earlier on Google Play, and assume the money already paid is gone unless you were billed twice. Use the remaining cycle well: spend subscription credits, export drafts that use Pro materials and download team files. Long-time Pro subscribers should think twice, because a cancelled old-price plan never comes back at that price.
