What SERPChecker is for
SERPChecker is Mangools' search results analyzer. It shows the Google results for any keyword and location, with authority metrics, SERP features and click estimates for each result [1]. It is one of the five tools in every Mangools plan, built from 2016, and it powers KWFinder's Keyword Difficulty, which is why the tools are sold together. In practice it answers one question. Can you outrank these results? This tutorial covers every feature and limit that matters, built from Mangools' own pages as of October 12, 2026.
Mangools gives two reasons to check the results page before writing. The results may serve a different intent, such as pizza delivery for a pizza recipe keyword, or the ranking sites may be too authoritative to beat. Both waste weeks of work if you miss them, so the check belongs before the first draft, every time. Access is simple. A free account gives limited access, and new accounts get ten days of Free+. The 2025 guide still tells you to create a free trial, but that trial became Free+ in June 2023. Paid plans start at US$49 a month [2].
SERPChecker does not count a featured snippet as position one, while SERPWatcher does, so the same page can show different positions in the two tools.
Run your first analysis
Keyword, location and device
Type the keyword, select a location, choose desktop or mobile and click Analyze SERP [3]. Desktop and mobile results usually differ, so analyze the device your audience uses. Usually that is mobile. A recipe keyword can show a carousel and a video pack on mobile and a cleaner list on desktop, so the same page can have very different chances depending on the device chosen. Getting this first choice wrong makes every number that follows describe a results page your readers never see, which is why it comes before anything else in the routine.
Picking the right location
SERPChecker has local results with previews for more than 65,000 locations, including cities, countries and DMA regions, without a location-specific IP address. The local options run from cities, regions and DMA regions to counties and departments, states and countries. A coffee house in New York can analyze Manhattan, Queens or Brooklyn separately, and a shop in Austin should check Austin, because results there differ from the US average. One small inconsistency: the feature pages still say more than 50,000 locations, while the main SERPChecker page says more than 65,000. The main page is the current claim. Either way, coverage is wide.
Read the results table
Each ranking URL appears with its metrics next to it, and the values are colored green for low and red for high. Read the colors first, because weak competitors stand out. A row of green values in positions six to ten next to red values at the top usually means the lower half of page one is reachable for a newer site, even when the keyword's overall difficulty looks high. That single pattern is often the most useful thing on the screen.
Which metrics, and how many
The SERPChecker page promises more than 45 advanced SEO metrics for each analyzed URL, while the site menu says 49. Mangools, Moz and Majestic supply them. More than enough either way. The default set has ten columns: Link Profile Strength, Domain Authority, Page Authority, Citation Flow, Trust Flow, Facebook shares, Alexa Rank, external backlinks, referring domains and referring IPs. The page notes that Moz's DA and PA are the most widely used. Click Manage metrics to choose which columns appear, with a short explanation for each. Start with the defaults and add only the Moz or Majestic metrics you already trust. Fewer columns read faster.

Authority, relevance and the weak result
What Link Profile Strength measures
You can judge each competitor's authority with metrics by Mangools, Moz or Majestic. Mangools' own Link Profile Strength combines Moz Domain and Page Authority with Majestic Citation and Trust Flow, so one score summarizes all four, and it drives Keyword Difficulty. Because Keyword Difficulty is built from these values for the whole first page, opening SERPChecker shows exactly which results pushed a keyword's score up or down. Popularity signals such as Facebook shares sit alongside the authority metrics. They hint at how known a page is beyond links. Treat them as secondary.
Why weak pages still rank
Link Profile Strength is an aggregate of link metrics, but it does not account for relevance: a URL scoring 20 can outrank one scoring 60. That is why weak pages sometimes sit on page one, and those low-authority results are your openings. They show that relevance can beat links, and Mangools' Keyword Difficulty accounts for them deliberately. When you find one, study what that page does for the searcher's intent, then write for the same intent with more depth, rather than trying to match the stronger sites on links.
SERP features and the clicks they take
What it detects, and where
SERPChecker lists SERP features above the results table and shows them in place in the snapshot. It detects featured snippets, answer boxes, carousels for images, videos and products, image packs, map packs, sponsored results, knowledge graphs, top stories, events and sitelinks, among others. They can appear at the top, middle or bottom of the results, so scroll the whole table. Features also change by location: different places bring different features, such as sponsored links, local packs and answer boxes, and usually different URLs. A national analysis can miss the map pack that dominates a city. For local intent, always analyze locally.
The SERP Features Impact score
SERP Features Impact rates the possible effect of features on organic engagement from 1 to 5; the higher the impact, the lower the engagement [3]. A keyword with impact 5 may not deliver traffic even at position one. Weigh it against volume. A keyword with 5,000 searches and an impact of 5 can bring less traffic than one with 2,000 searches and an impact of 1, because more of the larger keyword's clicks go to the features.
Picture a keyword where the first organic result sits below a featured snippet, a People Also Ask box and a video carousel. It can deliver far fewer clicks than its search volume suggests, which is exactly what the impact rating tries to capture. AI-generated answers are increasingly part of that picture, because they push organic results down too. SERPChecker shows which features appear, and the free SERP Simulator lets you preview the effect of an AI Overview. Check both for important keywords.
Estimate clicks and visibility
Each result shows an expected click-through rate based on benchmark data, which SERP features can change. Use it to estimate traffic at a target position. It is a benchmark. Not a promise. If SERPChecker shows an expected CTR of 10% at your target position, a keyword with 1,000 monthly searches suggests roughly 100 visits at that rank, before SERP features reduce it. Run that estimate for your target position on every keyword you plan to write about, and the numbers start to rank your ideas for you.
SERPChecker also estimates whether each result is visible above the fold at the most common screen resolution, since a result below the fold gets fewer clicks. That estimate is a one-off view for a keyword. SERPWatcher's visual metrics record the same pixel position every week, so the two together show whether a page is moving up the screen or only up the list; our SERPWatcher guide covers the tracking side.
To see the layout itself, switch from the table to Snapshot, which shows the actual results page with features in place. Mangools stores downloadable snapshots, with 30 million SERPs in its database. The picture often explains more than the table, which makes it the view to show clients. Keep one difference in mind when you quote positions from it. SERPChecker does not count a featured snippet as position one, while SERPWatcher does, so the same page can show different positions in the two tools. Say which tool you quote.
Compare your own site
The Compare box sits at the bottom of the app. Type your domain or URL, click Compare and drag the box next to any result to see how you stand against each competitor. It is especially useful when your page does not rank on the analyzed results yet, and you can change the input to test other pages; it loads in seconds. What it shows is the authority gap at your target position. A new site whose Link Profile Strength sits below every result on page one should look for a different keyword or a longer variant, while a site that beats positions seven to ten can aim there first.
Drag the Compare box next to any result to see the authority gap at your target position. It works even when your page does not rank yet.
How lookups are counted, and when they run out
One SERP lookup counts every time the SERPChecker panel loads, in the app or on the right side of KWFinder, except for recently cached requests [4]. Clicking keywords in KWFinder spends them too, and most users meet SERPChecker there first; the full app adds the snapshot, the features and the compare box. SERP lookups run out before keyword lookups. A researcher who opens 20 keywords from one KWFinder session already spends 20 SERP lookups, so on Basic five such sessions use the whole day's 100 even though only five keyword lookups were made.
Basic allows 100 SERP lookups a day, Premium 500 and Agency 1,200, and "Limits are refreshed every 24 hours" from the first request. A writer analyzing 20 keywords a day fits Basic. A team does not. On Premium, three sub-users and the owner share 500 a day, which is still 125 each, compared with 100 for a single Basic user. The cache helps too. The database holds 30 million SERPs, growing by about 100,000 a month, and recently cached results cost nothing, so well-known head terms are often free while long-tail keywords that few users check are more likely to trigger a fresh, counted lookup.
Export and hand off to other tools
You can export results as a CSV file with all or selected metrics, or save the whole snapshot as a PNG image. Images suit client reports. CSV suits analysis. Both are one click. SERPChecker also trades data with the other Mangools tools: LinkMiner's preview can open any referring URL in SERPChecker for a deeper look at its 45+ metrics, which saves copying URLs between tabs, although each analysis still counts. In the other direction, SERPChecker is one of the places Mangools suggests for finding competitors' domains to analyze in LinkMiner. The sites that rank for your keywords are your real competitors, not the ones you assume.
Workflows that turn a SERP into a decision
Reading a SERP in five steps
First check intent, then SERP features and their impact, then the authority metrics of positions 1 to 10, then the weak results, and finally compare your own site. Five checks, one lookup. The outcome is one of three decisions: write, adjust or skip. Skip when every result serves a different intent, when SERP Features Impact is high and volume low, or when every result has far stronger links than your site and no weak result exists. Saying no saves weeks. Choose another keyword.
A new article, a client pitch, a local business
For a new article, pick a keyword in KWFinder, open SERPChecker on your target location and device, note the SERP Features Impact, compare your site with positions 3 to 10 and decide whether to write. Repeated for every planned article, this costs one SERP lookup per keyword, so Basic's 100 a day covers a lot of planning. For a client pitch, analyze the client's main keyword, export the snapshot as an image, mark where the client and competitors stand, and present it. Pictures persuade. For a local business, check the city-level results for the main service keyword, note map packs and local features, and compare with the national result. The free location changer shows the same results without a plan.
How it compares, and who it suits
Semrush's SEO plan includes SERP and competitor analysis for US$139 a month, while SERPChecker is part of every Mangools plan from US$49. Mangools' snapshots and features view are its selling point; Semrush adds more surrounding data. Ahrefs Lite at US$129 a month includes SERP data among its tools, and Mangools Agency at the same price includes SERPChecker with 1,200 SERP lookups a day. On annual billing, Mangools Agency costs US$1,078.80 a year against US$1,290 for Ahrefs Lite, so Mangools is about US$211 cheaper. Our Mangools pricing guide breaks down every plan.
SERPChecker suits writers and SEOs who want to judge a keyword's competition before writing, local businesses checking city results, and agencies showing clients the SERP. Basic covers light use, and the tool is quick to learn. Teams that need thousands of SERP analyses a day, or deep historical SERP archives, may find the limits tight and fit a larger suite better. Most others will not hit the ceiling. Test on Free+ first.
The usual mistakes are analyzing desktop when the audience is mobile, ignoring SERP features, trusting one metric and wasting lookups on keywords with no volume. Each one misleads. All are avoidable. The cheapest fix is to filter suggestions by volume and difficulty in KWFinder before opening them, which matters most on Basic's 100 lookups a day. After that, check the device before you click Analyze SERP, and read the features row before the metrics.

The bottom line
SERPChecker turns a keyword into a clear picture of who ranks and why, with local results, SERP features, click estimates and a compare box. Use it before writing anything important, ration SERP lookups on Basic, and read the features as carefully as the authority metrics. A green row at the bottom of page one, a low impact score and a weak result you can out-write are the signs that a keyword is worth the work.
