The short answer: yes, but only with labelled assets

Yes, a business can publish CapCut videos, but the license does not come with the subscription. CapCut's legal page says only templates and materials expressly labelled Commercial Use may be used for commercial purposes, and it names social media content and brand promotions as examples.[1] Everything else in the library, from a trending template to a licensed song, stays outside that permission. The label decides. A paid Pro account unlocks premium assets for editing and export, but it does not turn them into ad-safe material for your brand.

The practical verdict for a small marketing team is mixed. CapCut is a capable, low-cost editor across phone, desktop and browser, with business templates, AI avatars and product-scene generation that suit social ads. The legal layer is the weak spot: the Terms describe a personal, non-commercial license, licensed music can vanish from saved projects, and brand footage you upload is licensed back to CapCut. Teams that build videos from their own footage, their own audio and labelled assets will do fine. Teams that need cleared stock and music for paid campaigns need a second source.

Three documents matter, and they do not read the same way. The Terms of Service as served on CapCut's site (last updated 9 June 2020) say the services are for private, non-commercial use, and that the license to CapCut's materials is personal, non-commercial and revocable at any time.[2] The same Terms bar using the services to advertise or perform commercial solicitation, and they license no rights to the music in the app. The material license rule on the legal page is the carve-out that makes business use possible at all. It covers labelled assets only.

The marketing pages go further than the legal ones. CapCut's Black Friday sale page says Pro allows commercial use of all its assets, including AI videos, templates and music, and its Shopify partner page promises no copyright risks. Help articles list commercial-use assets among Pro features, which is narrower. When those lines clash, we follow the legal page, because it is the document a dispute would turn on. Read Pro as access to more labelled assets, not as a blanket license. Even the tool pages hedge: the business card generator tells users to check CapCut's licensing terms for their own use.

Two more clauses land on the company, not the editor. When someone uses CapCut on behalf of a business, the Terms make that business legally and financially responsible for how its employees, agents and contractors use the account. Under the US supplement, you also grant CapCut a nonexclusive, perpetual, irrevocable, royalty-free, worldwide, transferable and sublicensable license to host, reproduce and display what you upload, and you promise you hold the rights to it. Client footage under a confidentiality agreement deserves a second look before it goes anywhere near the cloud.

The CapCut US Privacy Policy (last updated 15 April 2026) says US services are operated by TikTok USDS Joint Venture LLC, while the 2020 Terms text names Bytedance Pte. Ltd. as the contracting company. The policy lists training and improving machine-learning models among the uses of user information and lists no opt-out for that use. US disputes go to informal resolution, then binding AAA arbitration in Los Angeles, with jury trials and class actions waived. Individuals can opt out by email within 30 days of first use. Our CapCut safety review covers the data side in full.

Watch out
A Pro badge is not a license

CapCut's sale page says Pro allows commercial use of all its assets, but the legal page clears only items labelled Commercial Use. Follow the label.

Music is the risk that surfaces months later

Audio is where a finished ad can quietly break. CapCut's help center says licensed tracks in its audio library can be removed when licenses expire, and they disappear from every project, saved ones included, with no way to restore them.[3] Your own uploaded audio stays. CapCut does not guarantee permanent access to licensed music, and the same article advises exporting finished videos promptly and using local audio files for long-term projects. If CapCut has no copyright agreement for a track, it must remove or mute the sound in the videos and templates that use it.

Where you edit changes the risk on TikTok. CapCut Web does not integrate with TikTok's licensed music library, so all audio added there is treated as user-generated and can be muted after posting. In the mobile app, help points to tracks marked Commercial use allowed and to sounds labelled Use TikTok sound, which are pre-cleared for TikTok. For brand accounts that post daily, that makes the phone app the safer place to add music, even when the main cut happens on desktop. Check the label on every track. The template label does not cover it.

CapCut offers two cleaner routes. BCD Studio is its in-house label of royalty-free tracks, and since 2 April 2026 the library needs an active Pro subscription. Free users can only preview it. The second route is an outside library. Through CapCut, new Epidemic Sound subscribers get 25% off their first 12 months on Personal or Commercial plans, billed monthly or annually. Epidemic's Commercial plan excludes cinema, TV shows and TV ads, and major publishers or large corporations need its Enterprise license instead. Neither route covers broadcast. Plan for that before a campaign leaves social.

Keep your own audio for campaigns

Licensed tracks can disappear from saved projects when licenses expire, while your own uploaded audio stays. Export finished ads promptly and keep local audio files.

A marketing team's week in CapCut

Most business use falls into a few repeatable jobs. CapCut offers free editable business templates with AI captions, background removal and a royalty-free music and sound-effects library, and its text panels carry a Commercial Use filter that hides free or non-commercial fonts and templates. Product teams can start in Design Studio, which CapCut says runs on Seedream 5.0 and generates logos, ads, banners and social posts. The tool page says one product photo can become several lifestyle scenes, with products swapped in batches. As of December 2025, help says AI image generation lives on Desktop and Web only.

Switch on the Commercial Use filter

CapCut's text panels have a Commercial Use filter that hides free or non-commercial fonts and templates. Turn it on before a client project starts, not after.

Spokesperson-style ads run on avatars and voices. CapCut's AI commercial tool lists AI avatars and multilingual voiceovers with adjustable tone, accent and delivery, and its video editor page mentions over 100 digital avatars plus avatar cloning from an uploaded video. Premium AI actions like these draw on AI credits, and the cost is shown before you confirm. AI outputs carry visible AI labels, invisible watermarks and C2PA Content Credentials, which matters when a platform or client asks whether footage is synthetic. Auto Reframe, handy for turning one 16:9 ad into vertical cuts, moved to Pro in April 2026.

Files can come from Google Drive into CapCut Online in one click, and several CapCut tool pages accept Dropbox uploads as well. Finished videos can go straight to YouTube, where YouTube's own terms then apply. The Shopify integration exports edited content to the Shopify backend, and CapCut states there is no limit on the number of images and videos exported there. Direct posting to TikTok works only in the mobile app, with one linked TikTok account at a time. CapCut cannot import or export projects from third-party editors, so agencies hand off finished video. Nothing else transfers.

Business job Where it works Condition
Brand Kit and team templates Teams workspace Only Admins edit the Brand Kit
AI product scenes and images Desktop and Web (help, Dec 2025) Uses AI credits
Auto Cut to beats or pauses Mobile and Desktop Not on Web; regional rollout
Teleprompter Mobile only None stated
4K or 60 fps export Pro feature Desktop locks both for non-Pro
Posting to TikTok Mobile only One linked account

Clean exports depend on what sits in the timeline. A project built from free assets in the standard editor exports without a watermark. Templates add a CapCut ending clip, and sometimes a logo layer, that you can delete before export. Any Pro-marked asset, whether a template, effect, filter, transition, sticker or BCD Studio track, blocks the export or watermarks it until you subscribe or remove it, cover image included. On mobile, exports longer than about 15 minutes trigger the Pro prompt. The free limit varies by region. For client deliverables, check the final seconds every time, because ending clips slip through.

Paying for it as a company

CapCut's US pricing page lists Free at $0, Pro at $19.99 a month billed monthly per account with 1,200 monthly AI credits and 1 TB of storage, Ultra at $79 a month billed monthly per account with 8,645 monthly credits, and Teams at $12.49 per seat a month billed monthly for the default 2 seats.[4] The page calls these figures reference only, and help says prices vary by region, device and promotions tested on selected accounts, so confirm at checkout and read our CapCut pricing guide. CapCut's US pricing page also has a Yearly tab, but like the monthly figures it is labelled reference-only and CapCut runs time-limited yearly offers, so we don't quote a yearly price; check the Yearly tab after you sign in.

For a two-person team, the seat math favors Teams. By our arithmetic, two separate Pro accounts billed monthly come to $39.98 a month, while the two-seat default comes to $24.98 a month billed monthly, a gap of $15.00 a month. Both routes give 1,200 monthly credits per person, but Teams pools subscription credits at team level, adds the Brand Kit and team templates, and shares one 1 TB space. Other seat counts are priced at checkout, so this comparison holds only at two seats. Our CapCut for teams guide walks through seats and roles.

Who buys matters. Only the Team Owner can purchase Teams, and help says the purchase must be completed inside CapCut Desktop for Windows or macOS; manage the team from CapCut Online or Desktop, not the mobile app. Seats can be added at any time for a prorated fee, but they can be reduced only at renewal. Teams needs a personal CapCut account, and help says business or reseller accounts may need special onboarding. Each login method, such as Google, email or TikTok, creates a separate account. Pick one company login before anyone pays, or the subscription lands on the wrong account.

On CapCut Web, Pro can be paid by card, PayPal, Apple Pay or Google Pay, depending on region; in CapCut Desktop, the Pro Join button opens CapCut Web in your browser to take payment. Mobile purchases go through the App Store or Google Play, in the store country's currency, with taxes added at payment. We found no invoice or purchase-order option in the help pages we read. Regional rules can bite distributed teams: Pro may be disabled for accounts created in China, India or Russia, or when the current IP sits in a Pro-restricted region, and cross-region collaboration on shared spaces may fail. CapCut says subscriptions are virtual goods and generally non-refundable, with appeals for cases such as double-billing, as our pricing guide explains.

Frequently asked questions

Can I monetize a video made from a CapCut template remake?+

CapCut's help center says remade videos belong to the user to use, share or monetize, subject to CapCut's Terms of Service and third-party asset licenses. For business use, the assets inside still need the Commercial Use label.

Can CapCut text-to-speech audio go into ads?+

CapCut's text-to-speech page says generated audio can be used commercially, such as in ads and YouTube videos, subject to CapCut's terms of use. Treat that as a tool-page claim and check the legal page's labelling rule.

Does CapCut have an affiliate program for agencies?+

Yes. CapCut's affiliate program is free to join and pays up to 35% recurring commission for qualified Pro subscribers referred from the US, UK, Germany and France; applications are usually processed within 5 business days.

Can CapCut remove a watermark from stock or client footage?+

CapCut says its watermark remover does not support copyrighted or paid content and is meant only for personal or authorized material.

The bottom line

CapCut works for business video when the company controls the inputs: its own footage, its own or properly licensed audio, and assets carrying the Commercial Use label. On those terms it is a cheap, flexible editor across phone, desktop and browser, and Teams is the cheaper way for two people to share a Brand Kit and one storage space. It is a weak fit for paid campaigns that lean on library music or trending templates, because the Terms license is personal and licensed tracks can disappear from saved projects. Check every label, export early, and keep your source files.
